- This is how you get to the Geldingadalir volcano in Iceland. This video was created for the 2021 eruption. But this video demonstrates the recommend route to Meradalir volcano. According to the authorities route B is now the suggested route. The video also covers hiking route A and C. Which route you choose depends on what you want to see and the weather. August 2022 update.

Thank you! I'm coming back to fly my drone around the volcano in a couple of days and the old paths I used are cut off by lava, so that is quite useful.
Just know the crator and lava flow seems to be dying down. It stops and starts. Last stop was a couple of days. Have a great time. Even if it is stop. The area and aftermath is worth shooting.
Looks so cool. We would love to be there. We experienced volcanos in Hawaii some years back. This is amazing!

@@TimeWarpIceland more ideas: is it necessary to book camping sites in advance? How many days should I plan with? Where to refuel the car? How and where to get food? (Especially in case, there are long stretches without any supply) Can it be driven all year around? Are there items that you definitely should take it with you but are easy to miss?

How long is the C route? Distance and time?
It is about 4 kilometers (2,5 miles) depending on how far in you want to go. It is around 90 minutes each way depending on your fitness level.

Has your option on which route to take changed since the lava continues to change the routes?
Yes. The Police is recommending route B now. So I am inclined to suggest the same.
BTW Route C is open. But police say route B will get you closer to the action now.
How much is the parking and is there an address? We are visiting next week.
