This was an excellent video. I’ve wasted a lot of time on other videos just giving me one piece of vague advice that wasn’t solving my problem but you gave me several solutions that were all clear and well explained. I love you.

Just want to say thank you for the excellent video. I was able to change an outside outlet with no issues and no prior knowledge lol. Thanks again!

will keep looking but my issue is an outdoor GFCI With 10 more on the load side. Out if the blue the GFCI was tripped and could not be reset, so bought another and the same happens. How do you test the down the line outlets to find the problem. I swapped out the GFCI with a regular outlet and get good readings on all outlets
(with a similar light tester). I guess I could take all day and one by one disconnect the load side of each outlet.

I have a couple outdoor outlets not working. I checked the circuit breaker to see if there tripped and they are not. I don't have a test kit. However, I did take my cellphone charger plugged it to the outdoor outlet and check by plugging my phone to the charger to see if there was power and there wasn't. What is the difference between a GFCI outlet. And regular

Did you ever figure out how to fix it?

From what I've gathered, the GFCI outlet is in use in places that might get wet. Hence the protection from shock. I've got many outlets; however, the GFCI outlets are in my bathroom and garage (connexted to my outdoor outlets).

So I'm trying to put up Christmas lights outdoor and I have like 5 plugins around the house but the one that has the reset has a yellow light and I still don't have power and the breaker is fine. Please help, I'm lost🙁

I thought the yellow light might be a warning and these were put in in the mid 80's. Thanks for a great video btw. I would hire you in a second!

I need to purchase the testing tools: You mentioned a "wand style tester" is that right?

    • @Anyhourservices
      @Anyhourservices  3 роки тому

I have 3 different kinds of testers but yes, the wand style is hands down the one I use the most when I am checking to see if there is power.

So you can stick the pen back there when power is on to test?

Hi! So I’m a first time homeowner trying to figure this out on my own! I replaced the outlet and still having trouble! There is electricity going to the outlet (the old one had a red light and the new one is green). But when I plug in, I’m not getting any power! What can I do I?

Same here i replaced the gfci outlet outside and the light is green now but still no power to none of the 4 outlets outside

Not sure if you tried this, but when I install a new gfci outlet, I press the test and reset button again. It might be that simple.

Do you recommend a WR rated GFCI outlet for outdoor use?

There actually could be another GFCI that is inside that is tripped.
Check your bathrooms, garage, kitchen, etc.
Notice that he checked for power in the outside box BEFORE he replaced the receptacle.

So what happens if I do all this and the outlet still doesn't work? I have no trip at the breaker, outlet was working but stopped. Switched outlet 2x and still no power, switched wires around and got a green light but still no power. I have 4 wires, only one black wire is hot

Same problem. Frustrated. A rare nice weekend was wasted because I have no electricity outside to work on my outdoor projects.

Different video. Same information. I tripped and reset the GFCI, I tripped and reset the circuit breaker, and I replaced the GFCI and but still no electricity outside.
