It is a sin that this is not done in the factory. It changes everything bad about the movement and bounce when you drive a JL or JT! You will never regret this addition.
I don’t have a JL but I do enjoy watching your install videos. Your very informative and your honest with whether or not things worked or didn’t work. It’s just enjoyable watching you work on you and your wife’s rigs.
I appreciate that! Nothing I hate more after watching a YT video about how amazing something is, only to find out it is junk. Iv fallen for that too many times.
I put this and a Fox steering stabilizer on my gladiator 2 weeks after I bought it, back in March. The difference on the road was night and day. Huuuuuge improvement in how it tracks. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much. I just did the install on my 2020 gladiator Rubicon I’m stock suspension on 35s. This by far is the best upgrade I’ve done to the handling of my jeep. I also had my aluminum steering box replaced with the steel one by the dealer and my sector shaft nut was the same as yours in the video. Thank you for showing that step I also had to use a mallet to bang it onto the nut to get it off.
2018 Jlur. I've replaced the tie rod, drag link and track bar. I've installed the synergy brace, psc big bore kit with the hydro assist and replaced the ball joints with dynatrac rebuildable ones. Finally my steering is tight and works great
As always, great video! Steersmarts did a great job addressing the issues with Synergy’s bracket. I never put my Synergy back on after upgrading to my steel box since I got tired of the maintenance. Looks like I’ll be picking up one from SS. ;)
I have a video planned on publishing in the next few weeks talking about the key differences between the SS to Synergy. Im sure we will have some hurt feelings
WOW, this is one of the BEST videos on YT I have seen regarding a Jeep upgrade. I don't have a JL, I have a 2008 JKU, does this upgrade also work for a JKU? Second question, the hole in the bottom passenger side of my track bar attachment has wallowed out (hole lose on the bolt), causing Death Wobble, do you know of or have any recommendations on how to do this on a 2008 Jeep JKU, is there some kind of an up-grade bracket for the passenger side end of the track bar mount? Thanks
Great video, I need to keep up to date with the better stuff, I have the synergy and have never really been happy with it, now I know there is a better one thank you 🙏🏻
Woooo hey now - I didn't know I would get tickets to the gun show when I clicked on this!!! Anyway...Dude this is exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks so much. Gotta get one for Poodin now.
Hi. Why did you have to turn the bolts 135 degrees further than the recommended torque? If I miss it I apologize. I haven’t seen that before. I have a 2023 JL and thinking about installing one of these. Thank you
Not everyone has a torque wrench that goes that high. It’s a simple way to not force everyone to go buy an expensive torque wrench. Can’t go wrong with steer smarts, highly recommend them
The steal gear box has less tolerance as it is stronger then aluminum. This definitely helps, but can’t guarantee all of it gone… jeep made several mistakes putting the steering together on this one
You mentioned in an earlier video that your Steer Safe sector Shaft brace was rubbing against your spring and spring base and you needed to grind it for more clearance. Why then did you ditch the old part for this brand?
Great video as usual, I installed this same STEER SMARTS bracket on my 19 JL a couple months ago and like the tighter steering and reducing road wonder. I have the Teraflex Alpine CT3 3.5" lift with Falcon SP2 3.1 shocks with Teraflex HD Track Bars front and rear. No noise in my track bars like you had yet so time will tell. Again great videos thanks
So I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator and I had the dealer install the new steal gearbox. Is it still worth installing the SteerSmart bracket? Does it make a difference or can your feel the difference in tighter steering?
I installed this months ago and have had a bad popping sound when I steer to the left (only, which is strange) ever since. It almost sounds like it needs grease or something but I don't know where that would even go. Have you had any popping sounds? It sounds just like suspension binding when you're flexing out.
Great video! On a side note, would you do a video on relocating the breather tube on the TC of a JL? I've only found one video on this process and it was disappointing. The video lacked any details on how the tube was replaced.
Can you run the stock track bar with this brace? I have the Mopar 2" lift on my JL but everything else is stock. I know you need to add bump stops or run a different track bar for the Synergy one.
Thank you! Have you watched the video we made about that? I go over what exactly to say, I don't remember what exactly I said, but its documented in that video LOL
I followed JL Life's verbiage to get my aluminum JL steering box replaced with the steel one per the TSB. As a matter of fact, once I properly described my steering issue, the dealer volunteered the TSB replacement & I never had to ask for it! 😜 With 37's, I'd still recommend a decent steering stabilizer & this sector shaft brace.
did you have to center your steering wheel with this? when i did synergy one i did. haven't put it back on after dealer did steel gear box, haven't really felt like i needed it. but there is still that tiny bit of jeep dead zone.
Well that's a difficult one to answer. LOL. I installed it and went wheeling that night... of course slamming it around like I do. My steering is slightly off LOL, but assumed it was from giving it the skinny. I can't imagine how this would require you to make adjustments thou lol.
I"m still curious why the Steersmarts is better than the Synergy version of the same. The Steersmarts is missing some of the extra bolts that connect the brace to the track bar mount. I'm guessing they engineered it to not need them? I successfully installed the Synergy on my JK day before yesterday. And I'm looking to put either the Synergy or Steersmarts on the Gladiator in the coming months.
Great install, bro!! As you know, I have the Synergy track bar and sector shaft brace, and though I've had zero issues with it, I do like this one from SS. (IF) my Synergy gives me any trouble, I'll definitely look into this one.
Out of curiosity, have you cycled the suspension with the swaybar connected? I ran into an issue with the bar itself hitting the brace, and SteerSmarts support was less than helpful. Out came the cut off wheel, and welder... The bracket is so overbuilt, cutting 1/4in out of the corner was not going to make any difference in strength, and fixed all of the clearance issues.
Lol I wonder if you could get your dealer to "could you just slap this in when you change my gearbox". Its not like they mess up, or make it hard to take your steering gear but off or anything 🤣🤣🤣🤣
In one of your older videos, you mentioned the SS trackbar reinforcement bracket was making noise. I was wondering if you had any noise coming from this new trackbar/ sectorshaft brace? I’ve had the old track bar reinforcement bracket with no issues. Now, I developed a noise with this one.
Don’t think the steersmart one ever made noise? I did replace the rubber bushing with a poly one… but this new piece is very nice and well thought out.. I did a comparison video between this and synergy’s if you want a little more information on them.
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD It took me forever to find the video because I watched it yrs ago. ua-cam.com/video/WDp1v0q5nlE/v-deo.html @8:15 you mention the track bar brace was making noise.
Awesome thanks I will catch it then. I had the Synergy one on my 2018 and it did a good job but it added resistance and it kept loosening and gouging the pitman nut. Now I need one for my 2021 Diesel Jlur and I want to make sure its a 1 time upgrade.

I got to about 114ftlbs for the front long ones at 44ftlbs +170ish degrees.
So strange company’s measure it tht way lol

Why didn’t you install the new pitman arm nut before you removed the stock steering box bolts.
I just finally just got my steering box replaced just yesterday by the dealer. Feels nice and tight now.
It makes a huge difference ! 😂😂

@@JLLIFEOFFROAD Ha! Get swole
I’ve got this. Rubs on the spring big time. Every time go over obstacle it rubs up and down the coil. Any fix?
Nice job. Love the sealed sector shaft bearing vs. Synergy's bushing & required maintenance.
Right! Tht synergy bushing actually seized up on Mistys jeep.
Putting together a side by side comparison video with those 2 parts… about 2 weeks out
Good job on the video. It will help a lot of people.

Which one is the best rpm or apex or steersmart for this tie rod ans draglink and trackbar?
Great video question for you I have this installed on my JT and getting popping and creaking noises from the brace. Any idea why thank you.
I would check the torque of everything on it… make sure everything was installed flush
Why would someone want a steal gear box? Does it help with that dead spot in the steering u were talking about
The steal gear box has less tolerance as it is stronger then aluminum.
