- sIn a quest to find the source of his death wobble, the member doubletapdaddy on WAYALIFE.com filmed and posted up an interesting video clip and in it, you can clearly see his steering box pulling away from the frame rail and moving back in again as he turns his steering wheel to the left and to the right. And, while I'm reluctant to say that this is the cause of his death wobble, I will say that it can't be helping anything. Fortunately, Synergy has a solution for this movement and it's with their all new track bar reinforcement bracket and sector shaft brace. This thing is designed well, seriously beefy and you can be sure that once installed, any deflection you might be seeing in this area, will be a thing of the past. We hope that you find this installation video to be both informative and helpful to you..
ADDENDUM: I spoke with Synergy after posting up this video and was told that they now have new instructions and in them, they recommend that you apply blue loctite on the two bolts that secure the sector shaft brace to the track bar reinforcement bracket.

Public Service Announcement for those that have the original design: There is a screw on the bottom of the aluminum block to prevent the bronze ring from coming out; however, even with this screw tight, the bronze ring in the aluminum block has a tendency of rotating (speaking from experience). If it does, there is a chance that your grease hole in the aluminum block no longer lines up with the grease hole in the bronze ring. A quick way to test it is if you apply grease and notice grease coming out between the aluminum block and the ring instead of the ring and the pitman arm nut, your bronze ring has probably rotated. Synergy has corrected this issue by designing a new aluminum block that has a set-screw drilled into the side of the bronze ring to prevent it from turning. They also have a new pitman arm nut design that includes rubber o-rings to help keep the grease in and foreign particles out.
THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and these excellent parts. I purchased my 2021 wrangler about three months ago. Completely stock with only 11,000 miles it had death wobble. The dealership told me they couldn’t fix it, so I have been following your videos on how to solve this problem myself. After replacing the track bar (which helped), I found this video and decided to give it a go. This tightened up my steering and solved my death wobble. I can’t thank you enough. I can keep my Jeep now.
Awesome, I'm happy to hear our video was helpful to you and that you were finally able to get your Jeep working properly again.
I was just about to buy one of these, so perfect timing on the video. I love how all your install videos are very detailed, including things like torque specs, great job!
Awesome, so glad to hear it :)
I've ran the brace for two months now...no issues what so ever. Great video Eddie!
Glad to hear it
This video has been up for a while but I still wanted to say thank you! While the install isn't hard, your video made it even easier, like follow the bouncing ball... You have the perfect balance of showing the key steps and keeping it informative (like torque settings, etc) while not being exhaustive and boring. Anytime I can avoid putting my reading glasses on for an install, I give a big thumbs up. So thanks again!
After reading an article on this product from Synergy I ordered one for my jt before I even took possession of it. Since I was putting 37's on it I felt it would be a good idea. Next I'll get one for the jlu. Thanks for the video of the install.
Les Szabo 🤘🏽
Very cool :)
I may have to do that as well (my 2door JLR is being made at the factory now), but I am not upgrading to 37's until I get 5.13 gearing installed. But I plan on inspecting my steering on my 2020 before I make a final call on the bracket.
It's funny; didn't even know about this product until I was reading about tightening up the steering so when I search for the part your video came up. Thanks a ton for such a detailed vid and even the link to the giant socket.
Glad you found us and glad we could be of help to you :)
I came for the good info, I stayed for the super sick unboxing edit! Thanks for all the good camera angles and torque specs, you rock.
LOL - thank you, so glad you enjoyed it :)
Great video, Eddie!
I installed the track bar and sector shaft brace on my JK after chasing a dead spot in the steering. Two things from synergy solved and significantly improved the driving feel. These braces and I put a single plane tie rod end on my synergy drag link pitman arm side, which eliminated flop. Edit: I think synergy drag link now includes this tie rod end.
What I had found was there was a significant amount of deflection when steering on the end of the sector shaft. I measured it with a dial gauge at the time but forget the values. The brace all but removed that deflection and the dead spot in steering is gone. I would highly recommend these products from Synergy!
ordered on sunday, This video is so well done and detailed i will be playing it step by step to my local mechanic as he follows along doing the work. i would do it myself but the tools would cost twice what he would charge. Could not have been able to attempt without this video to show him. Kudos.....again!
Awesome, so glad that we were able to help out. thank you!
Could you let us know your results?
Johnnysi227 part backordered till June... hoping for the best and will post results.
Eddie, that looks like a much stronger assembly. Thank you for all the information. You have a wonderful professional presentation.
Glad that we could share this with you and that you enjoy our videos.
Do I have a JL? No. Does this apply to me? No. Do I watch and comment anyway? Hell yes because Wayalife is the best fucking channel and it’s what you do! Great video as always guys.
LOL - thank you my friend :)
I just want to thank you for your video's. You seem to not forget the small details that others leave out. I learn a lot form each one you do! Even the one's that i really don't need but glad you put them out anyway. I always learn something new!
Happy to hear it, thank you 👍
I just want to say thank you for step by step fully detailed instruction video including torque specs. 👍🏽 most install videos skip those. Again thanks.
Glad we could be of help :)
Wayalife just a quick question in the instructions it recommends a 2” bump stop if I have factory track bar. My Jeep Gladiator Launch edition is already 2” lifted from factory. If I add 2” bump stop I have almost no more travel left in the spring. Is that normal, or should I not add the bump stop?
This is exactly what I need on my Gladiator. This thing sways back and forth in the worst way. Thank you for making this video!!!
Awesome, glad we could share this with you :)
Anthony Gendron this bs shouldn’t jeep fix that issue
Brian Rascon I agree but we all know how the dealership works.
Purchased and installed. WOW huge difference! i would highly recommend this upgrade, once installed, you will be very pleased by the outcome.
Awesome! Glad to hear it made a difference for you as well :)
Couldn't hold off..LOL. Ordered the brace, heavy duty draglink and tierod, and steering stabilizer relocation kit from Synergy this morning for my JTR. Great sales still going on online from many vendors so took advantage of that.
Awesome! Hoping it all helps you out :)
Wow! Outstanding tutorial, just excellent. Great camera work, your video makes it so easy to see what you are doing, no fluff and wasted talk, great job. I just got a new JT Gladiator and the steering is driving me crazy, so glad I found your video. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful! 👍
I installed this on my JL last week. Its definitely a must have upgrade. Great video.
Awesome :)
Is your JL also have like sticky steering on hot summer days ?
I don't even own a JL or JT but watched the entire video just cause I enjoy seeing the master at work! Think I'm going to start playing dramatic music like yours when I wrench on my Jeep. 😉
LOL - too cool. Glad you enjoy our videos :)
Another great install video. Had my brace already because i did notice steering deflection with my lift and 37" tires. Just gotta find time to put it on. Will be on before Winter 4x4 Jamboree. Happy Holidays Eddie and Cindy.
Awesome :)
way cool eddie not only do you have killer rigs and killer wheeling on your channel you have the most informative diy vids on the tube thanks
Awesome, so glad to hear you enjoy our videos :)
I love your videos. thanks for continuing to post. Helps me feel a lot more certain about work I am doing on my 19 Wrangler JLUR. Wish I had a shop like yours and not just my garage.
Awesome! So glad to hear we're able to help you out in this way :)
I REALLY enjoy your informative videos! You always get to the point, are direct and video/picture quality and sound is always great which makes for a favorable viewer experience! You also give alot of important steps and torque values, etc.... Keep up the GREAT WORK!! Nice Jeep. I just subscribed
Thank you. Truly humbled to hear you say such kind words and happy to know that you enjoy our videos.
I'm still a month away from taking delivery on my Gobi JTR and already tempted with mods. Great vid, thank you !!
Awesome, glad to hear we can be of help to you :)
Ordered mine last week, before this video, and glad that I did too cuz when I tried to order the Synergy Track Bar after your last video it’s now back ordered into late December!
As usual, great video!!!
LOL - Glad to hear you got your hands on one before they all sold out :)
Wayalife Fingers crossed 🤞because this looks like a winner!!! Thanks for putting this video out. You’re always helping out the community, bigly!
This video is precisely what my OCD was looking for. That free play is exactly what I was feeling with my 2024 Willys from factory, now even tho it being new, we all know “factory” is what it is. I feel this part with it’s quality construction will definitely give my “free play” a thing of the past(which is what Jeep should have done, bad Jeep).
Did you install this? I have a 2024 Willys also is why I ask.
So aggressive with opening the box. Seems like a pretty easy install. Thanks for sharing.
LOL - glad you found the install to be informative :)
I could watch these install vids all day long! You guys set the standard by specifying socket size and torque specs. I get slightly upset when I watch other ppls vids and they don’t provide that info lol
Not that it matters, I wheel with a 97 TJ.. 😂
LOL - thank you. We're so glad you enjoy our videos :)
Just put this on. I felt that it stiffened up the steering. Great video as always!
Awesome, glad we could be of help! :)
Good video! You have a really nice shop and the blue Renegade is looks to be almost in new condition. Good thorough install.
Thank you. We have a whole series on our CJ5 where we brought her back to life :)
love the attention to detail in your videos. A very good step by step instructions on how to install a very well MADE IN THE USA product.. Thanks guys
Thank you. We're so glad to hear you enjoy our videos :)
Great video--you two always have great lighting and camera angles. Your making me cold with the garage door open to get the good lighting. You were correct, get the heater installed!
LOL - thank you :)
Great job Eddie. Now you have sturdy steering and toughest part for your next journey. And make sure you keeping warm during snowy season.Keep ot up buddy.
LOL - thanks :)
Good stuff Eddie a little bit of play turns into more wear later that’s a must for bigger tires sitting here thinking you be a awesome shop teacher for kids hope you an Cindy an your family have a blessed holiday season as always be safe
Thank you. We hope you have the same :)
Synergy is rocking! Well thought out upgrades!
You know it :)
THANKS Ivan Valvassori !!!
Excellent job, I just purchased the steer smart yeti version, using your video for some tips so it goes smooth, thanks again for sharing your time and knowledge
Thanks for a great how to video. Awesomely informative, and top shelf video editing! Before this I was planning on having a shop do the work. I'm definitely doing this job myself.
Frank DeVries awesome! So glad to hear we could be of help to you 👍🏻
Thanks for making great instal videos! This is my next project for my JLUR!
Glad we could be of help to you 😎
Another awesome install video Eddie! Seems that Synergy makes some quality accessories for 4x4's! Stay warm! Lots of snow here in Wisconsin!!
Terry Stotzheim 👍🏽
Eddie, as soon as I saw you with the overalls on, I said yep there's snow on the ground. Got a pair as well and their great for working out in the cold. As for the batteries, I was forced to move mine inside and they work wayyyy better.
I hope you both had a great Thanksgiving. Next project is heat in the shop.
LOL - yeah, winter is officially here :)
@@wayalife Indeed it is. Got over 20 inches the last two days. Most of the trails you guys ran here in MA are buried in white stuff lol.
Thank you for the well organized video and helped out a lot on the installation. For the JK people, there are some differences.
The 4 main bolts that hold the bracket on are all the same size
There is no nipple for adding lubrication
You will need the 42 mm socket just for adding the new bolt. I believe the OEM is a 23...
Looks like a well-engineered support. Definitely adding that to my 'must get' list.
Awesome :)
This looks like a vast improvement over the JK sector shaft brace. Looks well engineered and there’s no way for the sector shaft nut to come loose with this setup like it does with the JK brace. It would be great if Synergy could re-design the JK brace so it’s the same as the JL/JT brace. Nice vid as always Ed 👌🏻
We are working on a revision for the JK brace right now actually. Will be like the JL/JT version you see here when its done 👌🏻
Dave Schlossberg awesome work. We added a brass bush to replace the needle bearing like the JL brace and it works well. I really like your solution to the sector shaft nut undoing itself. It’s alot neater than what we came up with. Please make some for the RHD market aswell. Keep up the great work.
Love Synergy products, looks like I need to add some more to the list.
LOL - awesome :)
@@wayalife My problem is everything is doubled, Iv'e got a JL and a JT. I think I feel some of your pail lol.
I think you found your new calling,
I’ve been enjoying your vids from 2010, I had a 2011 jk.
Truly one of the best, to the point install videos on you tube, it’s easy to watch and understand.
With a bit of promotion companies will be begging you to do install videos for there products. (If not already done).
My 2 cents.
Truly flattered by your kind words. Thank you.
Its gotta be cold out there for Carharts and Sorel boots. All the power to you. Just getting first snow here in Boston
LOL - yeah, it's been suckin out here :)
Nice job on the video. Appreciate all the details and good lighting/sound.
Glad to hear our video was helpful to you :)
Mine is being installed tomorrow can’t wait to see if it makes a difference.
Hope it helps things out.
How do you like it? @Family man
Matt it’s awesome. Seems like it should be everyone’s first mod.
Your videos are awesome. I think this is just what I need for my new JT to stop the wondering wheel. Thanks again for the great videos.
Before you buy this, try letting some air out of your tires and run them at a more reasonable psi. Something like 28-30 psi.
Eddie, I am really liking your shop and the other jeeps you have, what in the heck do you do for a living?
@steve timleck kind of makes you want to work for him eh? lol doing youtube and doing what he does has to be a fun job.
You want to ride that D a little harder there Steve?
I’m glad I stumbled onto this channel! You rock! All though I am quite jealous of both your jeeps and tools!
"both" our Jeeps? We have a lot more than 2 :)
Great video as always. Thank you. Installing that next week. Peace of mind.
Glad to hear you found our video to be useful 👍
Another great video!!! On my list of todo's as I just had dealership finish recall items and one being the steering which doesn't really help... I have been holding off on getting more mods done as dealership has been fixing all of the various issues off an on for about 6 months...
Glad to know our video was helpful to you :)
Thank you good info. I see they make one for the JK. I'll have to upgrade my JK.
Very cool :)
Hey Eddie i was catching up on all the recent videos because I graduated from usmc boot camp. The gladiator grew up faster than jetlee (not that I'm complaining or anything). I finished watching the jkx series and started watching the jl/jtx I love the look of the gladiator and it was tempting me to get one (not yet) hope you have a merry Christmas and happy new year Eddie and Cindy. :)
Congratulations on graduating and for serving! Glad you enjoyed our videos and hope you had a wonderful Christmas :)
Nice touch adding the links to the tools used.
Glad you found the links to be useful :)
Awesome video! Thanks, already ordered RockKrawler's new 3.0" Pro-X 'no limits' Stage 1 lift for my JTR. Saw this on Synergy's site, and no have added it to my list. Will probably get there draglink and tie rod as well.
I think you'll be quite happy with all of it.
It's been a great year watching your videos
Have a Merry Christmas
Thank you. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas as well :)
Hey buddy did ya ever get the body damage fixed yet on the JL? Just curious seeing ya have JT damage to fix now also 😎,,and i just wanna thank you for another great video, i cant believe you don’t have 5 million subs yet , you are in my humble opinion the best 4wd channel on you tube ! Thanks again buddy
Thank you. Truly flattered you would say as much. We actually just picked up our JT from the body shop. Hope to get more videos with it soon. :)
This would have been good for me to know before Buying the bracket and grinding down the outer part of the weld. I hope it will not compromise it until a bracket can be installed that fits.
All I can say is wow jeep way to make a vehicle weaker than previous models before so glad for this info I will be looking into this for 2020 JT
Great job and very good advices as usual. I like a lot the unboxing moment 😁. Thanks Cindy and Eddie.
LOL - happy to hear you enjoy them :)
One of your best videos Eddie!
Awesome, thank you :)
like Always you do a great job at showing things done the right way, thank you sir
I really appreciate you saying as much.
THAT is a brilliant set up!
We're pretty happy with it :)
Nice upgrade. I might need to look into getting this.
I think you'll find it to be quite nice.
Great video. I was looking at this and asked my reputable local jeep shop and the tech said this part is more for pre 2018 rigs that had a different material steering box I believe steel vs aluminum. Anyway wanted to get your take as I have a Rancho front track bracket but it’s bottoming out on my axle. The shop recommended trimming the bottom of the bracket vs the synergy bracket and sector shaft combo. Note I do have a full synergy bar kit. Thanks in advance if youre able to chime in.
I would never pretend to know more than your reputable local Jeep shop but pre 2018 was a JK Wrangler and there was no need for this bracket. 2018 is when the JL Wrangler came out and originally, with an aluminum steering box that did have issues warranting a bracket like this. Jeep has since change the box to being made out of iron and that fixed a lot of the problems they were seeing with the aluminum one. That said, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "Rancho front track bracket" and it "bottoming out on your axle". To the best of my knowledge, Rancho does not make a relocation bracket for a front track bar. Also, is it safe to say that this bracket you have is mounted on the frame and you're saying it's hitting your axle at a full bump? Sorry, just a little confused here.
@@wayalife thanks for the quick reply. Pleasant surprise while watching another of your install vids. The bracket I’m referencing is the RANCHO FRONT TRACK BAR SUPPORT BRACKET. Sorry for the confusion. The bottom of the bracket has a rounded edge on one side and a more squares off 90 degree on the other. The 90 degree flat side, specially the corner is bottoming out on the base of the sprint mount just lightly above the stock axle of my jt. So the shop said just trim it so it’s out of the way and no need to upgrade to synergy bracket. I hope that makes sense.
Great video. You’re a natural teacher.
LOL - you're too kind. Thank you :)
Man brother, you gotta get some heat in the shop. I’m in the same boat here in the northeast.
LOL - I got heat but it's one of those torpedo types. Works well but is crazy loud and way too much for filming. I've got a real heater as well but just gotta find time to get it installed.
Great video Eddie I'm running Synergy components as well very solid.
Luis Rodriguez 👍🏽
Awesome :)
Thanks Eddie just added this to my Christmas list!
Awesome :)
That was a great install video man!
Thank you :)
I see you guys are finally back home....where it's freezing cold.
LOL - "were" back home for a bit anyway. Had to head out again to see some family :)
I’m no mechanic & it’s showing right now. You make this look so easy. I can’t even get past the first instructions. I’m very frustrated right now!!!
Great video. Really helped with my install.
Your detail is awesome 😎
We're so happy to hear that our video was helpful to you :)
GREAT video. Looking forward to doing this on my friend John’s JL this weekend.
You made install look so easy. Some others online have struggled with the sector shaft nut. I'm intrigued. Also hoping you do a video after driving. really want to know if you noticed any difference. Thanks.
Honestly, our steering was nice and tight with just the Synergy track bar, tie-rod and drag link alone. This brace was more like added insurance.
Well done. I’m outgrowing “Rocky” my 09 2dr. Been looking at JL’s and JT’s, was waiting for the diesel but the one I drove with 3.6 8speed was quite a surprise. I’m not in a hurry and will probably follow a lot of your build on both, so these videos are a perfect reference library for me😀. Thanks for sharing. If the diesel were out, would you consider it after all your real life trips putting them to the test?
Awesome :)
Install the one made for my JK, thought it would be good insurance! That one comes with bearing instead of bronze bushing, be interesting how it holds up. Enjoy your videos 👍
Hope to report back after some hard use :)
I talked with the Tekton guys at SEMA and am getting their Torque wrench soon
Awesome that you got to meet them. Good guys and they make really nice tools :)
Vinyl backed fiberglass insulation is a small investment for days like today. :~) . To whoever built the nice shop. With a small propane heater. I'm a metal building estimator and just quoted insulation. lol Great video. When you think how the engine, transmission and transfer cases hold up to the abuse you guys put it through, I'd say Jeep does a pretty good job. More snow videos for us way down south Southerners.
I definitely have some deflection in my JK set up. Problem is, I have a PSC Big Bore steering box. I'll have to go see if Synergy has a compatible kit.
Sorry, don't know about this but hope you can find an answer from Synergy :)
We are working on a revision to the JK set up that will have a provision for the PSC Big Bore Box Jakob Baker 👌🏽 Or you can just run the Trackbar brace part (8069-01) without the sector shaft component to make an improvement now.
@@daveschlossberg5138 Thanks for the info, Dave! I appreciate the reply!
@wayalife . Love the videos Eddie. I've watched a few of them several times.
Awesome, so glad to hear it! :)
Another great install
Thank you :)
Good stuff Eddie. I plan to run the whole Synergy set up including this bracket on my Gladiator Rubicon.
Awesome :)
Thanks for the step by step instructions. Nice video
Glad we could be of help :)
Wish I could give the video 5 thumbs up. Great job 👍
Wow, thanks!
I got one of these brackets installed on my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon today, and I really notice the difference. I also got the replacement gearcase, with the new gear in it through my dealer, by a Technical Service Bulletin 08-074-20. It replaces the old steering box with a regeared new steering box. They also update the hydraulic steering software. I have little play in with the steering wheel and no wandering problem. Before I had three quarter inch play in the steering, and that caused oversteeing and wandering. Worth getting both done. Rock solid now. Thanks Wayalife!
Question: How often do you regrease the grease nipple, and what grease.
And thanks Synergy.
Man really enjoy your videos. Another well made video. Informational for all us newbies. Thanks for sharing. I did notice something while you were installing the last bolt and stover, metal particles in the light. Yea I know its probably not a big deal, but metal particles in the lungs are not a great thing. Mask maybe???? Having worked in the coal industry for 20 years prior to going into the medical field I notice these minor details. Small particles of anything can impact the lungs in a very negative way....just something to think about.
Glad to hear you enjoy our videos and appreciate the concern. I'll try to keep what you said in mind 😎
Consider painting your bolts, especially the 2 holding the sector shaft on the brace, so you can see if/when they loosen. Also, I mentioned to Dave that he should include in the instructions putting some blue Loctite on the 2 bolts that go into the aluminum shaft holder. With heavy wheeling they tend to loosen but the Loctite will solve that.
Check the description on this video, that addendum was already made.
This unboxing might have been the most aggressive yet lmao
LOL
Really making me develop a complex….. awesome thanks
Great vid and thanks for sharing. You guys in the states are so lucky to have this stuff, we RHD owners need this too. How about it synergy? Steve🇦🇺
We need to get our hands on a RHD JL EMU4WD , we will get to it at some point 👌🏽
Dave Schlossberg yeah. That would be great. Many wrangler owners in Australia.
Awesome videos as usual I just bought a 2020 with only seven thousand miles on it and it drives me up the wall with how it tracks all over the road like the steering wheels loose or something like that and the dealership tells me that they all do that it's a Jeep thing
If it's still stock, try lowering the psi in your tires to something more reasonable than the crazy 40+ that come in them from the factory. 30 is really where it should be but your TPMS will only allow you to go down to 35. That will help.
Very detailed video.
Thank you.
Glad you found our video to be helpful.
Terrific work-as always!
Thank you :)
Very cool upgrade, but curious if you ever had to upgrade anything on Moby like this? I’m only running 35’s but hope my stock stuff will hold up.
Nope, never needed to do something like this on Moby.
Really like the vid. Learn a lot from you. Got my package here waiting to install. Just wonder what grease do you recommend for the sector shaft?
I use Swepco moly grease but really, any moly grease will get the job done.
Those overalls are dope
