LIFE SAVER. Wore my brand new dress out. Ate a chicken quesadilla, the grease and juice fell out the other side all over the dress. Applied paste for maybe 30-45 minutes (lost track of time) then rinsed off thoroughly. Hung dried. Not one stain left!! 🕺🏻
OMG, I tried so many different recommendations from UA-cam videos to remove cooking oil stains from my canvas shoes, including soaking them in Borax overnight, spraying WD-40 on the stains, and washing them in the washing machine six times. Nothing worked until I tried your method. They are finally clean! Thank you!!!
Here's a tip I learned about hand washing from a Bolivian Mama. They've been making their own clothes for 10k yrs & they're usually (but not always) more or less loose weave, but it works on anything without a rubber backing (like a shop rug): You want to stretch the weave on a bias, THAT'S AT 45° TO THE WARP AND WEFT, when you rub in soap. That lets the soap in and the dirt/grease/whatever out. It's like a mechanical solution instead of a chemical one.
That makes sense. When you are rubbing a cleaner into fabric up and down and side to side you are following the threads as they are woven but when you pull on the bias you will open the weave a bit. Just make sure you don't pull the weave out of shape as the garment will no longer have a nice drape. Meaning it will hang odd.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Not so much for this advice, per say, but for your quick & effective explanation of "bias"! It has been a concept I just could not wrap my head around for so long, but in just a few words, BOOM!, my brain said, " of course, that makes perfect sense"! I'm an intelligent person, but some "simple" concepts just elude me! It's so gratifying when something I've struggled with, suddenly clicks so effortlessly! 🎉 God bless😇 [10.24.2024]
I stream hours of content everyday while I’m at work but rarely do I learn something from it that I’ll actually use and benefit from in my own daily life. This video is one of those rare occasions. Thank you.
Murphy’s Oil Soap is all you need. I’m an oil painter. Amazing stuff. I’ve gotten black oil paint out of a friend s white puffy coat. 9I told her not to wear it!) Just get some and see. Get the thick gooey kind, pour it on the spot. The spray on works too, but thick better.I even clean my oil painting brushes with it, gentle yet effective
Another artist here. To clean brushes in a jar, be sure you only put the Murphys Oil up to the ferrule of the brush. If you put it in higher, the paint on the handle will also come off.
I apply mine with a soft toothbrush. The same mixture with some hydrogen peroxide is very good at getting rid of yellow underarm sweat stains on shirts and sports stuff.
Several years ago, I learned the trick for getting rid of the yellow around the collar and under the arms of white T-shirts. Take an old-school aspirin - not coated, not in a capsule, just the round pill that if you smash it turns into powder - take one of those and put it in with your laundry detergent. It has never failed to remove the yellow. The only thing I don't know is whether it would work on set stains (has already been run through heat in the dryer). I usually use this at the end of T-shirt weather; I will throw in all my white T-shirts and one aspirin with the detergent and it takes care of it.
hydrogen peroxide is also great for removing blood stains. my nurse friend told me about this. the hydrogen peroxide dissolves the blood cells. if the stain keeps bubbling it needs more hydrogen peroxide until it stops bubbling.
Baking soda is my #1 go to for so many things. Back in the 70s I had put an ostrich leather wallet down on my kitchen counter. Bad idea! There was grease from cooking bacon and it soaked into the leather. 😖. I thought the wallet was totally ruined but a week or so later I got the bright idea to rub dry baking soda into the stain. I did this over the next 2-3 days (if I remember correctly 🤗), and the grease stain totally disappeared! I still have that wallet and there is not even a hint of that long ago disaster. So...the long and the short of this story is, you're absolutely correct, baking soda (+ Dawn?!?) is the #1 stain remover. 👍
Thank you so much! I have or had an ostrich leather wallet my sister bought me and I accidentally got grease on it. Never got to use it because of that. Now I can if I didn't get rid of it!
I used to be a factory worker. My blue jeans would be black with grease at times. My trick for getting them clean was to rub a product called Goop into the stains before washing. They always came out of the wash looking brand new.
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse The only product I know of called "Goop" is a waterproof adhesive, advertised for things like shoe repair, which would definitely DESTROY any garment it was applied to. NOT a "good tip".
@@UguysRnuts Yes I'm familiar with that goop, I have used it often for repairing work boots. A quick google search will tell you there is another Goop that is marketed as a stain remover for hands and clothes. So from where I'm sitting, a good tip indeed. Hope that helps.
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse A "quick google search will tell you there" are multiple cleaning products using the name GOOP. From "where I'm sitting" not specifying which one is, well, dumb. I hope THAT helps.
For the person slamming "Goop": Are you confusing it with Shoe Goo? Goop is a common industrial hand cleaner found at places like auto repair shops everywhere.
Hey from the UK. I just tried this on an expensive white tshirt I wore once and got some kinda grease on it… I nearly chucked it out and tried this. Wow!!! Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Total skeptic of internet hacks. This actually works. Used it to get bacon grease splatter out of my favorite sweatshirt. It had even been through the wash/dry cycle a few times.
did you use Dawn dish soap? i'm about to try this but I don't have dawn. I only have another brand called Seventh Generation. It might not be strong enough. :/
I saw this video a few months ago and started using the Dawn and baking soda paste right away. I love it! I was able to salvage a favorite sweatshirt that was so stained. I was so happy!! I use it ALL the time and have rescued so many items that would have gotten relegated to gardening clothes only. Thank you so much for this and your channel ❤
Sis the 8lbs bag of baking soda from Walmart back in pool supplies. That and laundry powder are my secret ingredients to clean the whole house and laundry.
Bought a light pink disneyland spirit jersey ($70!!) and within a week (i knew I should have bought black like every other thing in my wardrobe) i got a huge grease stain!! I wanted to cry-will be trying this tonight!! Thank you! Crossing fingers!
Worked perfectly on month-old grease stains on my shorts! I used a local dishwashing liquid brand so any should work. Left it for about 30 minutes before rinsing, hung to dry, and voila--no stains come morning! Thank you so much!
I did this after I saw this video and it worked! I was so skeptical because the grease had “set.” So now I have to subscribe! Thank you can’t wait to see more.
Came to say , wow this worked! I thought I had ruined my fav pair of jeans when I sat on some massage oil. Many washes and different remedies and the big blob was still there. Tried this and it’s gone! Thanks!
I use this same formula for cleaning my fiberglass shower walls and sink faucets and it makes everything sparkle. Now another use for this miracle paste. Thank you for posting your video
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse So sick of paying through the nose for price-gouging commercial cleaning products for fibreglass showers! 10 cents worth of chemicals for $8.
So can you please explain the exact.process for cleaning fiberglass shower? Do you rub it on and let it sit for how long? Then rinse? Please help. Thank you!
Somethimg I do for dirt and car grease on hands is cooking oil on a paper towel. No water, just the paper towel with a tiny amount of cooking oil. Rub the oiled section with the paper towel and all the dirt and car grease transfers to the paper towel, leaving your skin completely clean. Then some sight soap and water washing your hands to finish the job. Same is true for car grease on a dogs coat.
I have started using aprons. i have a couple of black aprons I got off of TEMU and wear those (bib aprons really cute).. they keep my clothes clean. I even wear them when running short errands up the street cause they look nice and part of my clothes. But it helps to protect my regular clothes too.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow, this is an incredible tip. I thought I left a comment and maybe it hasn’t posted yet but I had to let you know that I washed and use the typical spray stain remover on pants that were still stained after washing and drying them at least once. Needless to say it did nothing. I used what you shared and was amazed how well it worked. Thank you again for your insightful tip. I have sent a gift to you as a small token of thanks.
Tried this on natural deodorant stain, Bacon grease and gonna try on my husband's pants! It got the bacon grease out of a shirt I thought was destroyed. Been stained for 3 months. I can wear it again❤❤. The sports bra is brand new again! Can't wait to try his work pants. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!and your mother in law😊
Incredible. This worked for oil stains on car seats. I tried two professional cleaning sprays and another mixture which contains flour, salt, and water in addition to what your mix has. There was no effect whatsoever. I had low hopes, but your solution worked on the FIRST try. I had to rub the remains of the stain a lot once the seat has half-dried, but now it's all gone! Thank you!!!
Pro tip for eating in your car….buy a bib! You can buy them at stores that cater to the elderly. It’s been a lifesaver for me. Also, I found that “Pink Stuff” also works great for removing stains. Thank you for the tip! It’s simple and easy. Way better than dry cleaning and a lot less expensive!
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse Plus, it provides a marvelous hand towel for wiping hands, unlike the paper "towels" in fast food places that don't even make good shaving bandages.
Awesome tip! Always thought after a grease stain was laundered and didn't come out, it became permanent. Can't wait to try this on "ruined" shirts etc...
I’m so glad it worked well for you! I saw your initial comment and my heart just broke so I’m very glad a second rinse did the trick! That’s a great tip in case others have the same issue. I’ll make a note in the description box. 😊
Some of these HE washers are stingy with water and it takes an extra rinse cycle to get the job done. I use deep wash or bulky items almost all the time, otherwise the clothes don't have enough water to agitate.
I love this! We had 2 shirts and I tried it first with just the dawn and it didn't work. Then I found your video friend and it worked like a charm. Thank you so much for this very helpful and useful tip 🥰💞👍🏻
Thank you. I didn't think of this idea. Dish soap mixed with baking soda and a bit of water is also good for cleaning the oven. I thought the soap would make it stick better to vertical and upper horizontal surfaces and it worked. Soaking the racks in baking soda and water also made it easier to clean them. I soaked them for 6 hours.
Just found this video & will definitely try it as my husband installs conveyors & is always greasy, cleaner/less toxic laundry soaps do do anything for his clothes. Also if you didn’t already know this, 2 tbsp baking soda & one tbsp oil of your choice really works awesome as an alternative to Goo Gone!
Great tip thank you so much! Hope it works well for you. Some folks have commented that tougher stains toon 2-3 applications. Others suggested adding hydrogen peroxide to the mix once you have it on the clothes.
Thank you for posting! I had a similar problem with my white dress shirts...collars and cuffs...and settled on Dawn and washing soda (sodium carbonate). My mixture is probably a bit more heavy-duty just because the washing soda is more caustic than baking soda. Washing soda is the bomb. Another key element for clean laundry is giving the chemicals time to work. Even the best chemicals can't do much good in a short cycle. Soaking clothes in your cleaning solution makes a world of difference. Getting dirty is so much more fun when you know you can restore your clothes to immaculate condition!
Can't wait to try this. I've set aside some of my clothes and hubby's clothes, to spray Shout on. I had already sprayed the stains with Shout, let them sit, and then laundered them. Only 1/2 of the stains came out. I was about to apply it again and hope for the best. NOPE. I'm trying Baking Soda and Dawn baby. Cannot wait to see what happens!!!! I'm so excited.
I hope it works well for you! I've had some folks do it 2-3 times on really stubborn stains to get them all the way out. Also had some folks recommend spraying a little hydrogen peroxide on the mixture. Haven't tried that myself so proceed with caution on that one!
I just bought 4 boxes of baking soda for a sink declogger (with salt). I had no idea it works on grease stains like this. Excellent tip, thanks for sharing!
Omg I can’t believe! I tried your remedy , because I endured Popeyes’s GREASE, two weeks ago , all over my brand new fleece jacket! I watched your vid, then went home and used AJAX dish soap, mixed with baking soda , and IT WORKED!!! The grease stains , came right out ! Soooo grateful , that I stumbled upon your GENIUS VID!! Thx sweetie!
Im have great success rubbing a little pure glycerine on the spot, wait 20 minutes and apply Dawn or other favorite stain remover. It just worked on 2 of my shirts with old oil stains.
My favorite denim skirt had black marks. I suspected it was oil, but not sure now, because when I applied the paste with a brush, the inside started showing purple. I scrubbed the inside too. I let it sit overnight for about 12 hours. Lo and behold, it worked! Before finding your channel, I had tried stain removing sprays and must have washed and dried it about 4 times. The dark spots seemed to be getting more vivid. Your video was my last attempt before sending it off to goodwill. Mahalo nui loa and much Aloha from Oahu, Hawaii.
I use baking soda and Dawn to remove cooked on grease/oil from my glass cooktop. WAY cheaper than cleaners from the store that do the same thing. One note: Dawn is awesome, but Dawn Platinum Foam kicks it up about 5 notches! I've used the foam in my washing machine to get the grease out of my son's work uniforms for ChickFilA. It would take 9 squirts per load on top of laundry detergent(and a second wash with oxi and detergent), but it cut through grease nothing else would touch.
We never used to have dawn in Australia, but we do now. I have a bottle in my cupboard. I bought it from Coles. I was so excited when I first saw it at the supermarket shelf.
I do the same, but for tougher grease spots, I pour a little boiling water over the spot after rubbing in the paste and letting it sit- that dissolves any remaining oil. Then, I wash as usual.
I have used white vinegar mixed with baking soda and had the same results. We will have to test the 2 mixes against one another on the SAME big stain to see if one mix is better.
I’ve been thinking about that! I’m thinking I might take a flour sack towel and make a few different grease spots and test the different methods people have suggested. It’s tough because grease from say a vegetable cooking oil vs grease from a beef taco would be very different, so I think it would really vary which method works best for different kinds.
@imlistening1137 personally, i have auditory processing disorder due to autism, which is something many neurodivergent people struggle with. This means the music made it impossible for me to hear her. I had to mute it and follow the auto generated subtitles which are far from ideal. You have no idea where others may be coming from, which may be very different from your own experiences. ALL ARE VALID. I don't believe she sounds grumpy at all, she even complimented the content. You on the other hand sound judgemental and patronising. Does it always upset you when others have a different point of view or experience to your own? You maybe need to work on that. Also, accusing someone of being critical, whilst you yourself are snarkily criticising THEM, is a whole shade of ironic hypocrisy. Much love.
@@amanda3743 thanks for the laugh, as I find hypocrisy very funny! You did everything that you accused me of! Much love, indeed… I hope today is a better day for you, too, dearie. The world does not have to change because you have autism- it is you who must learn to function in the world. Unless, of course, that is your excuse for ranting at others, butting into conversations that don’t concern you, or underperforming.. And BTW, I’m on the spectrum myself, so by your terms, my experience is also valid. It would be valid, even if I wasn’t, though, because as you said (yelled, actually) ALL ARE VALID. Your life will be hell if you use a diagnosis to excuse bad manners. “Much love”.

To remove blood stains and other stains as well I mix baking sod an and hydrogen peroxide. Then I often use an old tooth brush or rub the material. It works really well. Very grateful to the OR nurse who recommended this to me!
Northern Minnesota is home for me also. Although I’ve been living in the DC Baltimore metro way too long. Anyway you keep making videos and I will keep watching. Thank you.
I paint with oil, so my clothes get oil and paint stains all the time. I find that soaking a stain with regular rubbing alcohol (isopropanol or even ethyl alcohol) and immediately putting a few drops of dishwashing liquid into the alcohol-soaked spot (can lightly rub it in to distribute throuhbout the thickness of the fabric) eliminates all grease stains.
Great tip! I seem to get grease stains on my clothes all the time! Have used dawn and lestoil ( my mothers trick), sometimes washing a garment 2-3 times. Can't wait to test this out. Big shout out to Minn! i lived in Minnesota a while back. great state and great people! (Midwest woman now in Mountain west)
Never tried lestoil before! Hope this works for you. 😊 We don’t get away much with the farm animals but when our kids get bigger we are planning on some camping trips out your way.
I successfully removed a VERY stubborn 3 day old stain from one of my favorite shirts. The stain was caused by plant sap, and nothing worked until I tried a mixture of baking soda, dishwashing liquid, and a small amount of 3% hydrogen peroxide, mixed into a toothpaste-like consistency. I applied it to the stained areas and left it for 72 hours. The result? The stains disappeared completely! Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you so much for this tip! I have a wedding coming up in a couple of days, and I realized yestrerday that my chiffon dress had a well-embedded oil stain. You really saved the day and made my week!
In summary, a paste of baking soda and dish soap, with a little water if paste gets too dry. Massage in while stretching the fibers at different angels. Wait 15 minutes, then wash. SO skeptical. I tried it on a light-colored synthetic when other attempts had failed, and... BOOM, it worked.
Rubbing alcohol will get ball point pen ink(or any ink) out of clothes. Also the BEST way to get blood out of clothes is to use SALT. Hydrogen peroxide does not work as well as salt. Tryed both salt is the best. Learned that from my veterinarian. Thanks for your tips!
Oooh say more about the salt! What is the process? Does it work for dried/already washed or does it have to be fresh? As morbid as that sounds. 😆 Our pup had a cut paw when she jumped up on our white comforter and it has old blood stains on it from that. Keep meaning to tackle it!
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse I usually use the salt in the washing machine with detergent. I put about 1/3 cup salt in cold water and let it soak with the blood stained clothes. Then I add the detergent and run the load. Comes out clean and stain free! 👍
I will give this a go, bought an expensive dress but I have skin issues and got my skin cream all over this beautiful linen dress, will let you know how it goes!
I just bought a new top & grease splattered on it. Spray n Wash did not get it out, neither did a tide washing. So i am going to try this today. Thanks!
Thank you! I can't even guess how many clothing items that I really liked but had to get rid of because of grease based stains that I couldn't get out. Looking forward to trying this. You seem like a sweetheart too :)
I have a squirt bottle with water and enough Dawn to turn the water a nice blue. I squeeze it out onto any stain, even greace before I put it in the wash. I always try to hang out to dry these items to make sure the stain comes out completely. I dont want to set stains in with the dryer! But, for set in stains, my husband taught me a few drops of lighter fluid before washing works wonders. Also, GoJo. And gasoline gets out tar!!!
Please don’t blow up your washing machine with using gas and lighter fluid. I hope you only handwashing with that. Our friend broke her arm when her washing machine blew up and she only survived because she was already going up the stairs when it blew. All the walls in the basement had to be redone.😮
@granmabern5283 Oh no, when he has used the gas on work pants, it's been outside with the garden hose! Thank you for your concern. FYI, I am one of those who doesn't even like gas appliances, too scary.
This is a great tip. Thank you. What I’ve learned about stains is different ones need a slightly different remover. So unless I remember for sure I start with vinegar then try the others or combinations. I usually get it eventually. The others being baking soda, dish soap, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, borax. Borax even kills mold, but like you I use the big guns sparingly.
I’ve seen a lot of people use hydrogen peroxide and I want to try it! Our pup had a cut paw and jumped up on our white comforter and I’m hoping it might get the old blood stains out.
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse yup hydrogen peroxide is recommended for blood. Not sure how well it would work for older stains though. Doesn’t hurt to try it. If it were an item with color it’s recommended to test an area that doesn’t show first. I have used it successfully on fresh blood stains. Sometimes following it with real bar soap.
Thank you. Will give this a try. I have food oil stain on a blazer that didn't wash out and I made the mistake of sitting on the curb waiting for my car's oil change in my best work pants and they got motor oil on them. I put Dawn alone on them and they didn't wash out, so I'm going to see if the addition of baking soda helps.

Thanks for posting this. Just this morning I was sighing about the set in stain on my pj's from the castor oil pack. So I'm totally headed upstairs small jar in hand. Thanks a bunch
Nice to know about the Dawn and the baking soda combo. I usually just use Dawn and that has worked for me. I’m looking now for stain removal bc I just bought or ordered a used wool coat and haven’t gotten it yet but getting ahead of myself bc it’s not something I can throw in the washer, so I have to hand wash or hand spot wash and don’t eat to ruin it. The last time I tried to spot stain remove on a suit jacket, the stain went away, but I had water stains. So I had to hand wash the whole suit jacket to get the water stains out and that worked, but I almost messed up a brand new jacket with some stains, Thanks again for the tip and info.
Avoid getting dish detergent on your skin. It is designed specifically to remove greases and fats so it can cause severe damage to your skin. Wear a pair of rubber gloves. Also, boiling clothes to remove really stubborn stains is also another old fashioned method you can try. My grandmother used to boil socks and underwear in a large pot on the stove. I don't know if she added anything to the water, but it apparently helped loosen really ground-in stains. I guess the heat loosens up the stain and helps release it from the clothing.
Thanks for that! I had good luck getting sweat stains out of a shirt collar by rubbing it with fels naptha soap and soaking it boiling water. Grandma knew what was up! :)
Greetings from Singapore! Took a while, but it worked after the third wash! I used my home dishwashing detergent with the powder and rubbed it in a very soft toothbrush. Tks for the tip!
Thank you so much! Why didn’t I know this sooner? So many lost their lives to grease stains….. clothing lives 😂 I’m sorta obsessed now with this grease stains removal method. Only took 59 years on this earth to stumble across your tutorial. Forever grateful. And my dad owned a dry cleaners but never learned this. It was all chemicals and steam gun. Bacon had no mercy when cooking until learned dr Ken berry’s bacon making way. Even then it still happens just less. Used every stain remover out there with poor results. Thank you again!
This is great info, I will be trying it tonight - I recently re-entered the workforce, working at an equipment rental (construction/ay/landscaping) and I am maintaining several skid steers/excavators etc. there are days when I have gone through 6-7 tubes of grease in the grease gun. I have been manually pre-washing (hand agitator and washboard) my coveralls and work shirts through several changes of water with Simple Green and PineSol. It gets enough grease out that I can put them in the washing machine without upsetting Mrs., but I’d really like to get the more egregious stuff out easier. Thank you!
You’re welcome! My father in law deals with similar grease I’m thinking when he is maintaining his farm implements and my mother in law says it works on them great! Hoping it does for you too.
Wow, this is cool. I have a large bosom and am constantly ruining shirts. So happy I found this, I may even get a shirt I like from the thrift store and see if it works. I see stuff thrifting all the time I like, but they're grease stained. This may be the trick.
I get the bosom problem! I’ve been nursing and or pregnant for over five years 😆. These things catch everything I drop. I rarely wear nice tops anymore.
I have a couple small brown food stains on the sleeve of a beautiful 100 percent silk blouse. Took to dry cleaner no luck getting it out. Will try this as i will either roll up or cut off and hem. Fingers crossed! Will report back with my results.
This for sure works on grease but general stains it doesn’t do as much. Some folks have commented adding hydrogen peroxide to the mix helps with regular stains!
I have used this solution to scrub stovetops to cut grease for a long time. I make my solution a bit wetter with Dawn. Often I just pour Dawn out & shake baking soda out together on the counter and mix right before I need it. Works! 👍🏻
UNBELIEVABLE! I had a brand new hi-vis jacket that I wore once, and got fifth wheel grease on, that got washed and dried in. Have not worn it since ( 1-1/2 years). I tried this today, twice, and it is 99.5% gone! Thank you!
Fellow Minnesotan here - currently trying this on a swimsuit that got grease stains on it while kayaking somehow...hoping this works because I've tried oxyclean and dawn dish soap already! Thanks for the tips!
I hope it works for you! Maybe grease from a part of the paddle? I remember mine that could disconnect in the middle had some lubricant in it that got in my hands occasionally.
My favourite trousers ended up with a huge grease stain on them so last week I decided to throw them away ---- reluctantly. Then I thought it might be a good idea to keep them to wear while doing seriously messy jobs. So glad I did because this weekend I am determined to try this hack and see if it works. Will let you know. x
Right??? I honestly bring this up in random conversation. I feel like it’s my duty to make sure everyone knows about this. Real credit I guess goes to Mrs. Pedasheski a friend of hers. 😂
Thanks for this tip. Goop the mechanic’s hand cleaner works well. But it’s hard to find and then you have this huge container of it. But Goop did remove a yellow curry stain out of a white sweater I had. Dawn is easier to find and probably cheaper.
I find if I apply full strength Dawn on the stain, adding a few drops of water, then allowing the clothing to set for about an hour before putting the stained items into the washing machine usually enough to get them pretty clean.
LIFE SAVER. Wore my brand new dress out. Ate a chicken quesadilla, the grease and juice fell out the other side all over the dress. Applied paste for maybe 30-45 minutes (lost track of time) then rinsed off thoroughly. Hung dried. Not one stain left!! 🕺🏻

Fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing.
I never heard that! Thanks.

I was wondering if this solution would work for the underarm sweat stains. Thank you for your comment I appreciate it 🙂
Several years ago, I learned the trick for getting rid of the yellow around the collar and under the arms of white T-shirts.
Baking soda, Dawn dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide is also the magic formula for deskunking your dog.
Is the peroxide safe to use on colors?
You can also use cornstarch to pull oils from leather and suede.
Poor ostrich 😢
Best thing, wipe the kitchen counter after cooking !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Did you have to do it for three days to get the stain out?
Thank you so much! I have or had an ostrich leather wallet my sister bought me and I accidentally got grease on it. Never got to use it because of that. Now I can if I didn't get rid of it!
I used to be a factory worker. My blue jeans would be black with grease at times. My trick for getting them clean was to rub a product called Goop into the stains before washing. They always came out of the wash looking brand new.
Ooh good tip, thanks!

Yay!
did you use Dawn dish soap? i'm about to try this but I don't have dawn. I only have another brand called Seventh Generation. It might not be strong enough. :/
Yeah we use Mrs Meyers. I just went and got some generic “normal” dish soap from 7-11. Worked like a charm.
Great to see an honest looking "How To" video, rather than something that looks like a commercial.

I saw this video a few months ago and started using the Dawn and baking soda paste right away. I love it! I was able to salvage a favorite sweatshirt that was so stained. I was so happy!! I get grease stains on black clothing. Have even tried browns and golds to avoid one inevitable... Not trying to be a slob, but wow!
Worked perfectly on month-old grease stains on my shorts! I used a local dishwashing liquid brand so any should work. Left it for about 30 minutes before rinsing, hung to dry, and voila--no stains come morning! Thank you so much!
Fantastic!
I just use Castile soap. Works perfectly.
Thanks, I was wondering about that since we don't get dawn here

Somethimg I do for dirt and car grease on hands is cooking oil on a paper towel. No water, just the paper towel with a tiny amount of cooking oil. Rub the oiled section with the paper towel and all the dirt and car grease transfers to the paper towel, leaving your skin completely clean. Then some sight soap and water washing your hands to finish the job. Same is true for car grease on a dogs coat.
Great to know, thank you so much! I'll be trying that for sure.
I have started using aprons. i have a couple of black aprons I got off of TEMU and wear those (bib aprons really cute).. they keep my clothes clean. I even wear them when running short errands up the street cause they look nice and part of my clothes. But it helps to protect my regular clothes too.
I need to be better about that. I have cute ones but never take the time to put them on!
I’m so glad it helped! Thank you so much for the support. ❤️
Woohoo! I’m so glad it worked for you!
Yes!!! I’m so glad it worked! 😊
This is AMAZING! I tried EVERYTHING to get a set oil stain out of my daughter's favorite dress and nothing worked until this! THANK YOU!!!

Sorry to bother you, but do you just put it in the regular wash after you apply it?
@@carau7237 Sorry just saw this comment. Yes! I just wash the garment how I usually would.
Or, just keep a dish towel in the car, as it becomes a bib when tucked in, and serves other purposes as well.
I started sending my husband with a flour sack towel to try and cut down on stains! 😂
@@borderlineiq I just recently 'thought' of this idea. I checked into adult bibs and just didn't wanna spend the money...great minds think alike! hehe

Great tip!
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse Thanks, I will keep all that in mind! 🤞🏻

Thanks. I bought some Dawn to use in a fruit fly trap. Now I will use Dawn to remove grease and stains.
Works great for that too!
Thank you for the input! Hadn't thought to try it with washing soda. Agreed about getting dirty!

I’m so glad it worked for your skirt! 😊 I was lucky enough to visit Kauai a few years ago, hope to visit Oahu someday too. ❤️
I've done the same!
Thank you for this grease removing recipe. You’ve saved me from throwing out some much loved items.
It really is a life changer!
Brilliant, we dont have Dawn in Australia but any dishwashing liquid worked. Thanks so much for sharing this great tip!
Doesn't bleach clothes?
We never used to have dawn in Australia, but we do now. I have a bottle in my cupboard. I bought it from Coles. I was so excited when I first saw it at the supermarket shelf.
If you have Fairy dish soap, try that instead.
@@TheEvie202 I just use whatever I have it worked.
I do the same, but for tougher grease spots, I pour a little boiling water over the spot after rubbing in the paste and letting it sit- that dissolves any remaining oil. Then, I wash as usual.
Great tip!
GOOP mechanics’ hand cleanser is in my laundry room. It is designed to remove oil/grease. No mixing and it comes with a good shelf life.
Great tip, thanks!
Remove oil & grease from hands, but what about on yellow uniforms, do you know, if my uniform will get worse?
I have used white vinegar mixed with baking soda and had the same results. We will have to test the 2 mixes against one another on the SAME big stain to see if one mix is better.
I’ve been thinking about that! I’m thinking I might take a flour sack towel and make a few different grease spots and test the different methods people have suggested.
It’s tough because grease from say a vegetable cooking oil vs grease from a beef taco would be very different, so I think it would really vary which method works best for different kinds.
I thought the soft music in the background sounded nice! Made me feel happy!

So unless I remember for sure I start with vinegar then try the others or combinations. I usually get it eventually. The others being baking soda, dish soap, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, borax. Borax even kills mold, but like you I use the big guns sparingly.

A squirt or two of alcohol doesn’t hurt in addition to the above video tips!
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you. I hope it works cause I need this shirt tomorrow
@@RoughandTumbleFarmhouse Sweet! Thanks for the info. Brand new beautiful blue shirt and I stained it! Grrr!!
I just made some very similar that works as well- same however I add 2 parts Hydrogen peroxide to this mixture. Love it!
Was yours baking soda and h2o2 only, or with dawn also? Thanks
@@karenbuckner1959 In case she doesn't reply, she stated she added the peroxide, not substituted it. On its own, peroxide cannot cut grease.
I have used this solution to scrub stovetops to cut grease for a long time. I make my solution a bit wetter with Dawn. Often I just pour Dawn out & shake baking soda out together on the counter and mix right before I need it. Works! 👍🏻
Thanks so much for the new take on it!
I use this to clean sinks and tubs. Cuts soap scum and other build up very well.
Great tip!
UNBELIEVABLE! I had a brand new hi-vis jacket that I wore once, and got fifth wheel grease on, that got washed and dried in. Have not worn it since ( 1-1/2 years). I tried this today, twice, and it is 99.5% gone! Thank you!
That is amazing! I'm so glad it worked for you!
Will let you know. x
Hope it works well for you!
Ummmm....GAME CHANGER!!! Thank you SO MUCH FFOR SHARING THISBWITH US! ❤😍And thanks mother in law! ❤😍
I've had other folks recommend Goop too! I need to get some to have on hand to give it a try.
Thanks for sharing this tip. I sure appreciate it.
I find if I apply full strength Dawn on the stain, adding a few drops of water, then allowing the clothing to set for about an hour before putting the stained items into the washing machine usually enough to get them pretty clean.
I'm so glad that worked for you! I haven't had much luck with just the dawn. I wonder if it depends on the type of oil/grease.
