  • This is by far one of the most thorough detailed videos on youtube on how to clean this series vacuum. This is a self cleaning vacuum that still requires deep cleaning to extend its service life. I love these shark vacuums durability and suction power but the amount of time and screws to remove is very labor intensive. If you have one of these vacuums I suggest this cleaning process once a year on a total tear down. And filter cleaning monthly in a normal house cleaning. I use a blue shark rocket at work and it requires the dual filters and catch can cleaning weekly to provide maximum suction a versatility. Below are links below and i suggest checking out my other vacuum videos just for research and something to watch.

DANG!!! This video was exactly what I needed to be guided step-by-step on disassembling my Shark Rocket Pro. My roller was no longer turning due to some friction with a stupid plastic piece that could not be accessed until full disassembly. I reassembled my unit and it was good as new and CLEAN!!! Yay!! I'm a homeschool mom of 4 and this video was easy to follow, humorous, and effective. I LOVE this dude's voice AND his sarcasm. If I could give this video a million thumbs-up, I would! Thanks Mr. TorrentPerformance!!! Can't wait till you develop your own vac!!!

You would think shark would have just had a way for it to pop off like the back ones does. Its ridiculous, that i've only had it 2 months and have more hair around the wheels than anything. Its a pet vacuum why not make the wheels bigger or something. Right?

Easiest way to clean the rotar assembly enclosure (clear window) and rollow is to stuff two Clorox wipes between the roller and the assembly. Now rotate until the wipes come out of the other side. Remove. Now repeat with new wipes and move toward the other side of the roller window assemby. With the clorox wipies inbetween, they create a sort of "squeegee effect". If you put too many wipes, they'll get jammed. I found if you put two weaved in a line together, they'll clean that pretty well. Same with the roller. Lessoned learned. Don't take apart the whole thing unless you want to blow out the electronics and moter with air (dust shortens the life of the motor and electronics added excessive heat over many years of use. As for your quarterly cleaning, I'd recommend just using the clorox "squeege" method listed above. You'll thank me later.

If you want to clean under the roller brush without removing it, I found it helpful to roll an unfolded damp, but not saturated, paper towel back and forth under the brush. It helped to clear most of gunk from the clear window. I used a mild cleaner on the paper towel. I also fed one thru the hose opening. It helped with the odor.

YUP! thats what i did, i got to the point in disassembly where you get to the motor and plug removal and said screw it. and just triple-folded a damp paper towel ran it through the roller until it came out the other side. then just rolled it back and forth to where i felt it was clean "enough"

Why would Shark not make these vaccuns easier to service? Especially my model that is advertised for Pets? They should have designed the roller brushes to be easily removed just like the robot vacuums. Thanks for the video btw I'm in the process of removing the brush right now

God bless you and the horse you rode in on. My husband and I put a protective cover on the kitchen table and watched your video to take our vacuum apart, fix it by unrolling a cord that prevented the brush from moving, and put it back together. Only 3 screws left over! That's actually good for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thanks! You did the whole thing! I was halfway there and I just thought it would be crazy to continue but then I found your vid and kept going! Unbelievable how the design of this thing makes it almost impossible to get at the most vulnerable part. My roller had some kind of melted crud in that black plastic that supports the rollers and it stopped spinning but now works again! Many thanks! #righttorepair

Excellent and thorough overview! Saved me time of trying to figure it all out myself and potentially breaking it. (Note: I haven't put mine back together yet, so maybe it is broken lol). Anyway, it's clean! You'd think Shark would've made this a TAD bit more easy. But of course prob intentional - most ppl prob wouldn't attempt this and just go purchase another vacuum. It's so shiny now! Should hopefully last another year now.

Excellent Video. I was able to follow the steps to dissemble fairly easily. The only thing I wish I knew prior to starting is that I would need "tamper proof torx bits" is size t10. I didn't have this on hand so I need to wait a few days for my order to come in to continue this project. Currently waiting for everything to dry and i'll reassemble!

This video saved me from buying a new vacuum. It was working but needing cleaning bad. It seems intimidating at first but once you get through it, you realize not so bad. Instead of using box cutter, I actually used a drill bit and drilled the holes bigger for the screws that couldn't be reached. You just have to be really careful not to go to deep and ruin the screw head. I also left this reply on another comment that was below: "
I also wish there had been more detail on separating screws when it was disassembled. I wasn't sure which went where when putting back together. Vacuum is working so hopefully it wont be an issue over time if they are in wrong place. Also wish the mistakes would have been warned ahead of time (video edited). I followed along before watching all the way thru so made the same mistakes along the way which could have been avoided. All in all great video and got the job done!"

Thank you for this amazing instructional video! I am disappointed in the shark vacuum company. They have made it overly difficult to clean and or replace the roller in my cordless stick vacuum! They don’t even have a maintenance manual online to download off their website!?!? My son was vacuuming doing his chores and sucked a sock in the roller by mistake. Needless to say it wasn’t the easiest task to get it out! My Dyson is so easy to change the roller clear debris and maintain without taking all the screws and time tearing it apart! I won’t be purchasing another shark vacuum unless they start making them more user friendly to maintain, and include an instruction manual. Thanks again for the video, you are a life saver or should I say vacuum saver 😂

Wish you would have gone in a little more detail with the screws on the reassembly. I have all kinds of screws and sizes and holes and I’m so mixed up over here idk what to do. For example I have two longer black screws. I remember they came from somewhere but I can remember where they go. I have a bunch of small screws that I know come from the front end assembly but there as so many holes I’m not sure which ones go where. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it

I am needing to take out the roll to get out all the gunk that is above the blade. You can see all the gunk through the clear plastic. I'm not excited about to have to remove 8 screws, loosen a spot so then I have to still remove even more.

If you do the work yourself on a rainy weekend with nothing else going on I suppose its worth it. Or just buy it on sale and pitch this in the trash.
