For me the song is about escapism, but teto like 'nah bruh, this is suspicious' and ask for reality check but Miku like 'holy shit our reality cooked' and started to lost her shit. And Teto accidentally have an oopsie and mind breaking her bestie with the sudden reality check.
If you haven’t already noticed, in the quiz part where it spells out “help”. The fourth letters actually spell “S.O.S”. So Teto was actually asking for help twice in that scene
@@netto-kun fivefold, in the thumbnail, their poses along with the yellow dot make an S.O.S sign, also there is a moment where she blinks a lot and it traduces to S.O.S as well in morse
Some things worth pointing out: - The sparks in their eyes doesn't come back after the hypnosis scene except for Miku for a small frame before fully succumbing to it - After the hypnosis scene, Miku and Teto are in front of a green screen, which to me is more like they're just acting and they're on a set, based on their expressions they're shocked about something or is just how they look in that small moment where Miku doesnt know she was hypnotized and Teto is terrified of what's happening (theory) - At the very end you can see Teto's eyes going fully dark as she finally succumbs to the hypnosis - Considering there's a small segment in english, I believe Teto's hand being in ASL instead of JSL is to further confuse/make the Japanese audience unaware of the calls for help (considering a Japanese audience is gonna watch these videos first/the video was probably thought with them more in mind or as an easter egg for an international audience)
You should also point out Udin, the person who made this theory, says "for some reason, the sound is muffled for Teto" is probably cause Teto isn't succumbing to the hypnosis. When she's about to, the sound gets louder. Even before that, Udin says the song "sounds mesmerizing & looks hypnotizing," meaning its looks cute but is actually dark. So since Teto wasn't succumbing to the pretty sounds & all, she muted the mesmerizing song that would make her like Miku. And they probably did ASL instead of JSL because the people who made Vocaloid are Japanese I think so, Teto is making sure they don't know. Implying that perhaps the Vocaloid creators are hypnotizing them hence the green screen.
I think another point on the ASL vs JSL front, theyre obviously dressed in like 'classical' american diner/themepark/drive in attire - so Teto using ASL seems even less farfetched to me
i think the hyponosis takes a while to happen, since it takes miku a little bit to become hypnotized and at the end teto becoems hypnotized (i think she got hypnotized right after miku did ) also anyone know ahy mikus a sonic employee and teto a wendys employee?
In the OG video, someone commented that miku probably hung herself to escape from reality which is why teto was so shocked, like she saw a dead body. Eyes going black means Dilated pupils. Neck popping is like the neck being seperated. And tongue out is usually in cartoons to show a character has died. So I think teto saw miku hanging herself and was like "Nah, I'd go into denial" and that's why her eyes turned black right at the end.
Honestly this would make sense since after Miku gets hypnotized, her neck seems to get smaller and smaller. Someone also pointed out that as she dances her limps aren’t correct, which I never noticed :)
Plus the confetti increases at the end which make me believe that it trying to make it look more positive. And at the end Tetos eyes darken as in she gave in to the hypnotize.
@@udinchwanhonestly you make things really interesting from the way you explain it,you add jokes and people can still have fun while understanding the song, even without the jokes I would still keep watching, your voice is "hypnotising"
yeah i was a bit confused with the line distribution like what i said about the first verse;;__;; i think it is more fitting as miku's message tho but someone in the comments theorized this was about teto trying to tell miku the "painful reality" which is why in the end miku "broke" and now that i think about it, it kinda makes sense!! thats explains why teto is the one who said "just look at it in moderation" after seeing how miku reacts to reality....thats my current thought!!
@@udinchwanI think that Teto was trying to truck the producers in the video that they were hypnotized already, and when they stood up during the muffled part her eyes were black so she just said “I’m hypnotized already, this won’t work”, so she’s tricking them Therefore, when Miku became a puppet she was not only shocked because it was happening but also because it wasn’t happening to her, so they realized she wasn’t a puppet, explaining how her eyes turned black in the end
@@T0TALLYMOTH3YBUG I think you're right about that last part, the hypnotizing star in the middle might've also been for her, putting it there while she's performing so that she can't subtly look away.
I think their clothes have also somethhing to do with fantasy and reality. Miku's outfit/uniform is something you would usually see in fantasies or fiction. While Teto's are the kinds of uniforms you would see in reality.
Miku’s outfit honestly looks like those diner dresses that were popular in the 80s especially with the roller skates imo. I figured that both of their outfits are more so based off them being workers who are probably overworked and tired which is why the whole escapism theme seems so rampant
I belive the ending supports your blue pill red pill but in a different way. Miku has gone too far into escapism however Teto has given up, notice her smile. it's not insane but calm and controlled. I believe teto has gone too far in the red pill side, where she wonders about the point of existing
This is a very shaky theory, but I checked the Wikipedia page and it states that the enzyme Phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide is needed for purine biosynthesis which is vital for DNA synthesis. And I thought, the DNA synthesis part perhaps is a metaphor for the hypnosis, as in the person hypnotised will be changed entirely, from the very foundation of themselves. Take this with a grain of salt because I’m just blabbering lol also interestingly enough, purine biosynthesis might be used in the future to develop chemotherapeutic drugs. One final note, in the instrumental you can hear some gurgling noises, and it sounds like drinking something fast. Or it sort of sounds like a muffled “Go Go Go” so maybe whoever’s hypnotising and directing this whole thing is giving them instructions. Especially with the green screen part that suggests they’re acting/being filmed.
omg thats so interesting!! no wonder people theorized this was about dr*gs www and yeah!! when they showed the green screen right after they failed to hypnotize teto, a part of me thinks about how it's trying to tell us that it's all just a show, even when they try to tell us not to fall into sweet traps/fake vulnerability etc, that probably includes this one😅
So I looked more into this molecule, which is abbreviated SAICAR. It's a normal part of brain function. But when the enzyme that's supposed to use it stops working, it builds up in the brain and starts turning into the similar compound SAICAriboside. This causes brain damage, mental deficiency, seizures, and lack of control over movements; but also an unusually happy appearance, where patients are constantly laughing or smiling for no reason. Idk I think it's kind of similar
@@shale8385 that’s so interesting!! I can totally see the latter reflected in the video, with Miku having this sinister smile while doing fast erratic movements. Your interpretation of the enzyme makes much more sense. This lead me down a rabbit hole and apparently SAICAr is also involved in cancer cell proliferation, even in glucose-limited conditions, which in turn are caused by malnutrition and eating disorders. Also, it’s involved in causing neurological illnesses similar to the aforementioned. This is quite the enzyme isn’t it lol
@@shale8385 it might be too much of a stretch but what i noticed is that SAICAR in katakana will be read as サイカル (saikaru) which can be interpreted (and can be heard especially when it's in vocaloid) to サイクル (saikuru) which translates to cycle, hinting that life will be a cycle, mundane or not especially with the lines "You're already in a bot-like cycle" in the video
Idk if it's intentional or just because it's more popular rn but I like how they chose specifically a Vocaloid and Teto's SynthV AI vb instead of her UTAU one. I think it mirrors how they face reality, Miku decides to ignore what's around her so she doesn't strain while singing, however Teto doesn't, so she strains and struggles more than Miku while singing the chorus. They could've easily chosen Teto's UTAU vb since it's literally free and can handle vocaloid-high notes more easily, but they didn't.
@@lunacat4040 UTAU is a free vocal synthesizer program, it works like Vocaloid using syllable samples from singers or actors to produce vocals. Synthesizer V (SynthV) is another vocal synthesizer program, but it uses AI to produce the vocals, the AI is fed by singing samples from a voice provider.
@@lunacat4040they’re different voice synthesizer programs- similar to vocaloid. But Utauloid is free and Synth is uh… I’m don’t know specifically but it’s like a different program similar to vocaloid with a bunch of different voice banks like a new Teto one and Solaria
@@lunacat4040 Im sure I replied to you but it seems it didn't appear srry 😭 UTAU and Synthesizer V (SynthV) are both vocal synthesizer programs like Vocaloid. UTAU is free and it works pretty similar to Vocaloid using syllable samples pitched up and down to produce the vocals so it tends to have an unique choppy and robotic sound to it SynthV uses an AI thats fed with singing samples instead, so it has a more realistic result since it directly imitates a real singer
as someone studying biochemistry: phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide (SAICAR for short) (*not* the enzyme that helps create it) is an intermediate compound in synthesising nucleotides (information carrying units in DNA) specifically purine nucleotides (adenine and guanine) which differ from other nucleotides as they have 2 carbon rings instead of 1 and they break down into uric acid from what i can think about (i'm a science student my media literacy is in the dumps forgive me) i think this is honestly pretty relevant, thoughts below in hopefully simple terms 1. SAICAR is one of the last stages before the degradation cycle starts, so not much effort is needed to transform it into guanine or adenine, but that also makes it closer to breaking down entirely 2. purines are found in every domain of life and *literally everything* with genetic material, alive (animals, plants, bacteria etc) or not alive (viruses). you could say similar for pyrimidines but thymine is not found in specifically rna viruses on that, it could show that being hypnotised makes you barely alive and anything but human, since the compound SAICAR transforms into is found everywhere genetic information is carried unlike other choices of random organic molecules 3. SAICAR as a compound itself has also shown to aid in cancer cell proliferation in low glucose environments as most cancer cells can't salvage nucleotides like healthy cells and have to rely on de novo synthesis (where SAICAR comes in) so take that as you will hope this was helpful to you all, may the more theoretical people take over with this new knowledge + feel free to ask questions
I’ve always done tetos approach. It’s the only way to improve. We must embrace the struggle and learn from our failures. That pain, that struggle, and that failure is where we grow. It is where we conjure strength. Strength comes in the moments when you think you cannot go on, yet you keep going.
true! it’s a lot like the book ban in some parts of America. sure the books may make you look bad but if you don’t educate you’re not going to improve, and eventually just be worse
Agreed. Struggle is part of life. If your body can perform its subconscious functions, if your mind is able to conjure thoughts, that is a sign that you are here in this world. And since you are here in this world and do things like breathing and eating, you can take it up a step and get up. Perhaps walk. Perhaps push. Soon enough, you will find you are able to steer yourself towards greatness. Towards adaptability. Towards courage. Hardships have attrited many people, but as long as you are here, you can make a change in your life. One of the special aspects of humanity is adaptability.
That's just like me but in school I feel like giving up yet here I was doing my assignments on the edge of deadline and putting adrenaline in my veins then when it's over I go escape a little aka gaming in weekends. Now that is summer I'm gaming all day.
Crazy that this song actually woke me up and is now motivating me to actually do something with my life. Like I have a year of uni left and I haven’t even started an art portfolio of some sort because I’ve always lived through Miku’s approach as it’s “easier.” Looking at life through Teto’s lens here, though, snapped me out of it and is pushing me to actually commit to stuff that will help me in the future, as hard as it is at the moment :’)
"If you stare directly at reality, you'll end up going bling, so do it in moderation" is said by Teto not Miku. This being Teto last line makes it seem she has given up and it being similar to Miku's lines means she has also become a puppet
Something i noticed was the colors of both characters, teto being mainly made out of red and yellows with just a little blue, with miku being the opposite having lots of blue, yet having very little red and yellow, red usually being used for "STOP, WARNING", with yellow also being applied in that same manner, blue meaning, "Contentment, Sadness.", Miku is content in the reality that was given or created for her to avoid her emotions without realizing the dangers of said reality, Teto being opposite, she is on her feet, understanding the dangers of the reality she and miku were given, however that blue in her outfit could mean that despite her objections and attempts to escape, she is slowly but surely becoming content with her reality. Edit - Something I just realized is that their name tags are yellow as well, it kinda goes hard with the escapism aspect and the whole hypnotism making you forget who you are, of course the name tags would be yellow
another detail on their outfits is the fact Miku is wearing skates, which are a lot more unstable if you don’t know how to use them properly, whereas Teto has sturdy shoes, signifying how she’s a bit more grounded
I want to add how Miku was wearing roller skates and roller skates can easily fall or easily hypontize teto was wearing shoes and shoes is more sturdy or less likely to fall! Great video! ❤ Edit: I doubt I'll do this again but thanks for 205 likes that's actually crazy tho 🧌
to add onto this theory, i think that mikus rollerskates emphasises on the no worries, life is easy breezy propaganda that miku spouts. You're having fun, but everything is fun and games until you fall and get hurt. Miku never got hurt, so she never broke the cycle. Teto did. Teto's shoes shows how she wants to move slow nd steady, take everything in, don't lie to yourself. She got heard and she grew from it. but i think i'm just overthinking this..😅
I'd also like to add that Miku's rollerskates doesn't have brakes, that makes it even easier to fall since she's dancing in brake-less rollerskates (and also isn't wearing any protection making it easier for her to get hurt)
I just realized something… the more we analyzed the song, the more of the mission or the intention of the song is more becoming complete, because we are "obsessed" just because we're analyzing it, and the song motives is complete
I have something strange in the miku's body after she got hypnotised at the end. 1) The neck looks broken. This is what happens when a victim h@ngs. 2) Puppet like poses. 3) the miku's body looks broken. Like all the bones are broke. Idk what else.
Miku's legs stiffen but her hyper extended elbows and hands do look broken. She even stops moving her hands and just flails around like she isn't in control of her body like a janky zombie.
@@Wowowzz her upper half looks more broken from the shoulders to her neck. Miku wouldn't be able to stand if her legs were broken, she would be slumped over if her spine was broken more.
If you think about it for more than two seconds, the song is and will remain culturally relevant for generations to come. I believe the song represents not only the conflict between blissful ignorance and accepting the bitter truth, but also highlights a conflict between generations. My generation is one defined by nihilism, of acknowledging the cruel reality - Teto. We know the world is screwed, that there are things going on in places we don’t see that decide the course of our futures without our own will or input, and that society as a whole is heading down a course I’ve seen described as “The lamest dystopia ever.” We all exist, working, surviving and like Teto, giving off feeble cries for help; but we never live. Not like how generations before us could afford to. How many young people are trapped working bare minimum wage to pay off exorbitant loans? To put food on the table? To have a roof to sleep under? We all secretly cry out for help, like Teto in the MV. While in the very beginning, she appears to attempt to offer a contrary to Miku’s perspective, calling it the “Ultimate solution,” she backtracks almost immediately and suggests that turning to escapism is probably the only real solution to the problem. I believe this mirrors a lot of young adult’s perspectives when it comes to the problems we face in our society. We can initially go, “Oh, it’s not that bad! There surely is a solution!” But once we think about it more, we start to realize that maybe there isn’t exactly a solution after all, and that the self-preserving nihilism that Miku’s perspective seems to embody is the only real one. Yet, at this point, it is just a suggestion, both for us and Teto. As we go further into the song, we see Teto attempting further to cry out for help, just as we do. We don’t have an answer for the troubles we face in society; there is no ultimate solution. We can just ask for help, but there’s no guarantee of receiving it. At one point, Miku becomes hypnotized into escapism fairly shortly, while Teto resists and resists the pull towards it. This is a symbolism of the individual vs. the surroundings. We see our peers turn their eyes away from reality and slip into that blissful ignorance of escapism, and we feel that temptation to follow; but we resist nonetheless. We don’t know why - perhaps it’s that lingering, unsettling unease behind the very concept of forgoing reality for a sweet dream. We continue to struggle, to ask for help. But we don’t give in. At least, not yet. Eventually, we come to the conclusion: We are, as Miku and Teto put it, “Tailor-made for this generation.” I’ll come back to this line later. We are fashioned to work by the systems that govern us, by the hands in the shadows that play with us as their pawns. To work, to struggle, so that the top becomes increasingly out of reach for us, while we get swallowed by the bottom. Miku breaks at this point - prior to the final parts of the song, she “Shuts down.” Our vulnerabilities become monetized on TV. They give us medicine, but refuse to give us the cure. We become hooked on the drug of escapism, a lie with the appearance of vulnerability - yet still makes our hearts beat arrhythmically. Miku accepts the lie, as do many of us. After all, what’s the point of facing reality if it just hurts? Why face the cold truth and depress oneself, when you can escape into a dream and be happy? What’s the point of resisting? Teto eventually falls into this hole as well. No one is immune. No one is safe. We all dance violently to an invisible song, thinking we’re unbound; but even this “free will” is manufactured. And the way it’s going, I doubt it’ll ever become natural again. Look at gen alpha. They are addicted to the internet before they’ve even hit the double digits. They, like Miku, fall for the escapism quickly and assuredly. Without resistance. Without thought. Because it’s easy, it’s accessible, and they don’t know - they’ve never known - the alternative. When we think about ‘generation,’ what comes to mind immediately isn’t just the generation of people; but also generations of technology. The new generation of iphone, the next generation samsung, the new this, the new that. It can be argued that the song, in a way, addresses gen alpha (The “You” in “You are tailor-made for this generation,”) and claims that they are tailor made for the next product. They were tailor made to consume. As such, they become addicted, hypnotized, mesmerized. Gen Z is afflicted by nihilism because we know that things could be better; they just aren’t. We resist because we know that this is wrong, and that this shouldn’t be how life is. But gen alpha doesn’t know that. They become mesmerized by short-form content, overstimulation, everything; and as such, even their short-term memory lessens to be worse than a fish’s. Miku and Teto symbolize these conflicting generations. Teto is an older generation, struggling, resisting until we cannot resist anymore. Miku is the new generation. The song isn’t just a cry to the individual, but a cry to society at large. Because the way things are going, one day, we won’t be able to cry. We will accept this lie and fall into escapism - we won’t even look at reality in moderation anymore. Our eyes will glaze over from flashing lights and upbeat music, and we will become mesmerized, until we are unable to cry for help.
This is a great comment, really good analysis of the song. I hadn't made the connection that Teto and Miku are the older and newer generation respectively. I wanna give my own interpretation on the look at reality in moderation line, the way Teto ends up being hypnotized is because she didn't look at reality in moderation, lots of people have fictional characters, online personalities or personal beliefs they keep to cope with reality, while Miku gave out right away because she actively sought out the escapism, Yeti resisted so much that she tired herself out and went blind from too much reality. Part of the message of the song be it intentional or not is that escapism is a resource used by humans since we became civilization, it's okay to believe in a few lies in the same way you should always reality check yourself every once in a while, too much of either and you end up deluded by your own thoughts, so far I've believed that the way to survive the modern era Is to stay on social media for the human contact and for participating in society and staying informed but also not letting yourself go too much into it, I disagree with the nihilistic perspective on a personal level because everything is gone only if you completely disregard looking at reality and escapism in moderation. Really hoping for a reply, awesome comment, again
Did anyone else notice? Start the song, and focus on Miku’s PUPILS. Focus on what shape they are (a diamond/cross shape right now.) NOW, watch until 14 seconds. See how her pupils change into a circle? Her pupils go back to the diamond shape when Teto comes in at 28 seconds. This all goes for Teto as well. At the start, pupils are the same shape as Miku’s. A diamond shape. Watch it at 28 seconds (focus on Teto.) Her pupils are diamond/cross shape now, but if you watch until 34 seconds, BOTH of Miku’s and Teto’s pupils go into circles. Their pupils change back into cricles throughout the WHOLE song. (The quiz through the whole song is think…)
TW: Mention of hanging At the end, Miku's pupils are dilated, and her tongue is sticked out, her neck isn't in place, your eyes are dilated when you're hanged, your tongue is sticked out when you're hanged, and your neck would obviously not be in place, not sure if this indicates something but I think it does.
notice how miku smiles before she goes neck breaking, and how suicidal people are happy before their last moments...same goes to teto at the end, she smiles before her eyes went fully dark
I really like the immortality thing too! tetos in her 30s while miku’s only 16, and she has been for a long time, symbolizing immortality (13 sided star thing) and only teto’s aging kinda blabbering tbh take with a grain of rice
Idk if someone already commented this but, if u notice at the end before teto so called gets " hypnotised " her eyes didnt have the pop like miku, ( either shes faking it or too lazy to animate it lol 😭) and before teto got "hypnotised" she took a deep breath like as she knew she was going to be hypnotised at that time and moment, my theory is that shes actually faking the "hypnotised" thing. This is a personal thing but is it just me or in one part of the song i heard "save me." 😭!
I have an even darker theory to why that happened. As we see miku beeing crazy, it's not that she went insane, it was more because she killed herself since her movements were less human and off beat, as if she was being controlled like a puppet. Also, her neck when seemed crazy was way thinner, as if she hung herself. Also, her black pupils and tongue sticking out are common ways to show cartoon characters being dead. So when Teto's eyes go dark, it wasn't her being hypnotized, it was her commiting suicide like Miku.
I myself thought about how it coud be commenting on the current state of the creative field, since there are several tactics used by, for example, reddit story tiktok accs (several interruptions during the video (the comic style switching into them swaying side by side, the test, the hypnosis segment, closeup where Miku gets "switched") lots of flashing and bright colors, constant bouncing and movement, the divide of the screen) in the mv. The greenscreen after hypnosis suggests they are in fact filming, and I remember someone pointing out that Miku and Teto are dressed like fastfood workers (waitress and manager respectively), and if I were to continue that train of thought, Teto may be more experienced, while Miku is a rookie or somebody still not fully aware of how things work in the industry. Therefore Miku gets hypnotised by what I assume is someone behind the camera (probably a higher-up) faily easy since she had no idea that what's happening could be bad/wrong, and Teto resists because she already knows better or she may know that is not supposed to be happening (in the greenscreen Miku is looking in innocent confusion at the camera, and Teto's expression is saying "hey that was not in the script, what are you doing"). They also start the video with stars in their eyes, but they stop appearing after the hypnosis. Teto's white pupils (possibly simply a light in her eye) also disapear after Mikus eyes turn black, but that's probably because the hypnosis is starting to work. (I don't wanna write more rn, so if anyone could remind me tomorrow that'd be cool, bc I didn't get into the lyrics at all yet) 9:46
During the hypnosis part where miku goes a bit crazy and is dancing off beat her limbs get a bit more limp and dangly just swaying about and her neck changes in thickness
11:03 this hits hard, i found myself willing to live just because "imagine how many songs you will lose" or "how will that anime ends", idk it's weird, i know someone that is on this world today just because no one would feed his cat if he passed away, reality sure is dark
Here's my take -The thumbnail for the song spells S O S (Miku and Teto posing like S while the star shape in the middle is O) -Miku has a white strip band and Teto doesn't (indicating that Miku is controlled? Also she poses like puppet in the last chorus) -At the start of the song, there's a split second word that says "HYPNOTISE" in kanji. -Miku and Teto wears normal shoes at the start of the video. In the chorus, Miku is shown to be wearing roller skates (likely to trip) and Teto doesnt change shoe. -Teto almost trips meaning she is almost hypnotized. (My theory for Teto slmost tripping is that since Miku wears roller skates, Teto is trying to save her but almost fell into the hypnotism) -Teto is constantly asking for help -When the hypnotize scene begins, Miku is swaying with the background. The skies also stopped meaning she got hypnotised in just a day. While Teto's background actially changes for 10 times means that she has been resisting the hypnotize. -In the end, Teto still gets hypnotize. (Another theory suggest that she is acting to be hypnotized just to stay calm) Thanks for reading this 😊 Edit: I forgot theres more -In the quiz scene, the first letter for each word spells H.E.L.P and the fourth letter after the Hat one spells S.O.S, also she signals the famous help sign at the quiz scene. So Teto was asking for help 3 times in that scene, showing that she is so desperate for help. -Theory: The diamond shape pupil means that they are under hypnotism, but they don't realize it. The circle pupil likely means that they are aware of the surroundings
7:05 some speculate Teto is deaf, explaining why she knows sign language and doesnt get hypnotised as easily as miku because she cant hear the music being used to hypnotise her
Also if you look closely at the quiz time, in the last 3 questions If you look at the fourth letter (without hat) It says sos which is making me think that Teto put it there so she can supposedly be saved from being controlled fully. Also purple hats are some form of therapy (somehow)
SHES BACKKKKK AAAHHHHH!!!!! Edit after i watched it: it was such a great analysis! Its like you focused on the song and not in the things of the song that hypnotized us. The mysteries, too. So i feel like a proud dad seeing their kid going touch grass instead of being on the internet, lol! I hope things will be less busy there, and that you will be okay. Lots of love, thank you for the video!
thank you for watching!! i agree everyone kept talking about this song i feel like i have to make a vid about it its so interesting!!😭 i hope u like the analysis!!👍
this analysis is genuinely really well made!! ^_^ i love how you brought up the "blue pill or red pill" concept!!! i love all the other points and how you actually talked about the lyrics more than most other analysis videos. also sidenote that you didn't catch, i noticed how tetos speech bubbles are more enthusiastic whenever she brings up a type of escape or solution. I COULD SERIOUSLY YAP FOR HOURS ABOUT THIS SONG
thank you so much!! im glad you like it!! omg i didnt notice that!! i now believe more & more in the theory where teto was trying to save miku first before asking help from us :o
@@udinchwan i love thinking about teto trying to save miku!! but also isn't the asl for helping everyone the gesture that teto did but instead of pointing up at herself pointing around her? it may also be because it's too obvious so teto just didn't decide to do it :'D
The star shapes seen in the video actually symbolise immortality, which may lead to later theories. Also, at the very end of the video, she closes her eyes and opens them again but they’re black, like Miku’s, showing she gave up..Another thing, is in the Greenscreen scene, it shows that even their background and place they live in is fake. And the last thing I noticed was that when Miku was hypnotised, there was a black choker around her neck. Maybe that’s where the strings from being ‘a puppet’ was??
a bit of a weird way ive interpreted this song is that teto is recommending bad coping mechanisms to miku and watching as miku goes farther and farther downhill, perhaps doing too much and dying because of it (drugs or sh (teto eventually following her) overall though the songs themes are about reality and escapism
Fun fact: teto is wearing big yellow gloves to try to get someone to noticed that she is needing help Btw my comments give people PTSD soooo what im saying is teto wearing big yellow gloves aka a color that stands out but matches with her outfit and that are big
This view was actually really interesting to see and I totally agree with it! Ever since the second hour the song has been out, I’ve been viewing it from a contextual perspective (aka wondering about what the heck is going on with Teto and how we can save her from the world the two girls got thrown into), so much to the point where I didn’t even look at the song from a literal perspective of what it was trying to say! I love the layers of the song plus the music video, even little things representing the two girl’s arguments on reality such as in the thumbnail Miku being behind the star (escapism) and Teto being in front of the star (realism), so thank you for commenting on the song! Love your analyses!!!
There is so much detail and references in the song and MV There are different ways to view the lines as well (but it's gonna get checked too soon so I'll put it here) and I also think you didn't cover much of the industry side of the song so I'm still waiting for an hour analysis with every single reference detail and lyric analyzed in the MV or a 2 hour one... Anyway I thought that the chorus (and some previous and later ones) lines can be interpreted like this: 全てが染まっていくような subete ga somatteiku youna To an event where everything gets tainted, 事象にご招待 jishou no goshoutai You are invited さらば! saraba! Farewell! (The official translation decided this was escapism but when I edited Shinoataya's translation I thought it could be acquainted with the next lines like the original version of the translation) こんな時代に誂えた konna jidai ni asuraeta The vulneravilities of the 見て呉れの脆弱性 mitekure no kijakusei outward appearance tailored to you in this age (reminded me of the selling wounds line, you want to overwork) 本当の芝居で騙される hontou no shibai de damasareru You're deceived by true acting 矢鱈と煩い心臓の鼓動 yatara to urusai shinzou no kodou And your heart beats carelessly loudly all pumped up/This heart’s beating all recklessly too loudly. (Miku is tired of being human and wants to be manipulated or Teto is too nervous and the wrong people will notice despite her doing obvious help signs) 残機は疾うにないなっている;; sangi wa tou ni nai natteiru My remaining lives is dwindling ;-; 擦り減る耐久性 suriheru taikyuusei and my durability is running out. 目の前の事象を躱しつつ me no mae no jishou o kawashitsutsu I'm trying to run away from the event(s) in front of me, but 生きるので手一杯! ikiru no de te ippai Living has me at my limit! You should take in notice the grammatical errors in the song... It links Miku and Teto to severe chronic internet addiction
OH..im all ears please elaborate on 'industry side of the song'!! because i do have some think pieces on this but decided not to put it😭 as for the translation, my main source is the ones provided on the official channel and i don't really understand japanese that well to notice the grammatical errors but that's an interesting side!!
When miku gets hypnotized at the end you can see in the English end subtitles that her talking is completely messed up showing symbols like (, ), $, &, @, and maybe more but I forgot, this makes it hard to read and can show that she is mentally broken, we can see this in the fact that she’s fully hypnotized and that a lot of her body looks broken so that might be a sign to show that her entire being is just broken
Actually I kinda relate to Teto, aware of the painful reality we all live while you don't even try to find meaning in it but instead to be safe from the daily hypnosis via diverse analogies of the same faulty logic, not fully complying whilst wanting to let the one on your front see through reality's lies but while they're hypnotized they can't see beyond the one concept that has been put on them. I hope y'all understand what I mean here
I think the reason for the confusion in the beginning with Teto's lyrics is that she's being held under duress. She's being forced to market this hypnosis as an escape from reality. The song is really layered and I love it.
I don't know if I'm seeing things wrong but at the VERY END, like 2 seconds before the video stops, Teto sudenly has black eyes, is no longer worried or scraed and has a calm smile.Mayby is the fact that she has given up completly and gets hyptotized too?Like there is no hope left so she just completly gives up on any hope and just goes bananas like Miku.
only seen a bit of analysis for this song cause this isn’t usually my jam but i don’t think this is just simply about escapism - i think it’s specifically about how escapism and capitalism intertwine, both with the way the entertainment industry works to serve escapism (and how that affects the people working in the industry - thinking of both the implications that miku and teto are acting here and their uniforms) and how in a way the “harsh reality” people keep bringing up in the comments is its own form of blinding to serve a system that makes you believe there is no other way to live
the red/blue pill comparison is really good! I honestly forgot about that. I really enjoy the animation in the music video, the entire thing is giving me digital horror vibes, especially the quiz scene that reminds me a ton of early flash games with screamers at the end. Finally, I don't think that Teto "can't hear" the music and avoids being mezmerized. She gives me more of the vibe that she's type of person that "knows too much to be happy". When we talk about cults for example, there's a resistance we all have to indrocination. When that resistance is worn away though, you're more likely to lose yourself into said cult. Generally, knowing more about the world and socializing with more people will help with increasing your resistance, but it comes with the pain and weight of reality becoming too much. Teto is calling for help, but she also knows it's in vain as help is not coming. Her only connection left is to someone (Miku) who's already given into being mezmerized to a non-existent world. As some people would say: do not give into astonishment.
Some stuff yall's might not know abt this animation :3 In the thumbnail,if you look at the body shape of miku and teto (and the 13 pointed star) The confetti represents sanity. Few confetti means they're still sane. A lot of confetti means they're insane Also, teto's fighting the hypnosis. That's why after miku gets hypnotized, she's standing still, from day from day, trying to endure it. At the end of the animation, teto gives up fighting the hypnosis, ans her eyes turn black. A three pointed star (or a tridecagram) Represents immortality,so maybe miku is now immortal in the part after she gets hypnotized (???) Miku wears rollerblades, which is unsteady and doesn't have brakes, which most likely means if she falls into a "sweet trap",she can't turn around because rollerblades don't have brakes. On the other hand, teto wears normal black shoes, which are steady and have brakes, which most likely means she still can turn around when there's a "sweet trap". If we look at teto's pupils,at the start,it's a star. After the part when miku gets successfuly hypnotized, her star pupils turn smaller. Also, after miku succeeds to get hypnotized, her body bends backwards
I feel like the animation definitely is calling out short form content as a form of escapism. I feel like the increasing amounts of confetti is symbolic of the overstimulated reward pathways in our brains, as well as the way that it constantly calls back for your attention. "Your tailor made for this era with an appearance of vulnerability, fooled by this truthful acting, your heart beats so very loud" I feel not only refers to our vulnerability in regard to mental health, but also our susceptibility to malicious media platforms designed to farm our attention.
Like you mentioned the way Teto and Miku dance is very puppet like - plus the way that teto keeps dancing no matter what happens throughout the song. It really feels like Teto and Miku are being controlled/there is 'something else' (perhaps the one who hypnotised them) who is watching over them, making sure they conform to what is expected.
Also the 4th letter in each (not including the 1st word) spells sos in the quiz Also the star is a tridecagram which represents immortality which I guess could be a reference to how all vocaloid characters are immortal (Miku, Teto, etc...) or something else Idk ALSO the thumbnail of the song looks like an SOS, Miku and Teto as the S and the tridecagram as the O ALSOOOO, Miku seems to be on the layer behind the star which could mean she has already chosen to be ignorant while Teto is on the layer infront of the star which means it took a while to fall into the sweet trap Plot twist! Teto is probably high asf and this is just what she is seeing, but she realizes things aren't normal and is asking for help in the "trip" (kinda useless no one can see it except you) which could also explain the weird things she be seeing like DEMON MIKU (I WILL refer to her as that) and Teto falling into the "sweet trap" is her getting overdosed | Secret ending! : Drugged Teto ending
At the sky change, I don't think the sky is an external thing since the song gets muffled, we could be viewing it from Teto's perspective instead of from the screen/externally, and the night and day change could mean that since she is "aware" actively resisting it means she is making an effort and as we know it, fun=fast time perception, suffering/working=long time perception
The way I ended up taking it was: big cooperations (on the internet) vs us. The corporations have a hold on us thanks to the internet snd our addictions, and I think we want to be free, we want to be able to live in the real world, we like the internet but there’s so many issues with it that we want dealt with. But with psychological tricks, corporations know exactly how to hypnotize us, to make is fall into meaningless noise over using this tool to speak up. I also like bow Miku’s outfit looks kinda waitress-ish? I don’t know if it’s relevant, but when we talk about the psychology tricks used by media, fast food commercials are the first example. And just… love the idea of the music being what’s hypnotizing and Teto being deaf as a way to show immunity.
Theres also this part in the music vid, though it think its obvious by now. But during the time when we enter the 'hypnotism' phase the backgrounds to the effects to tye music are all sped up. Likehow when we get lost in joy, we usually lose track of time. Its the same for the short and small videos you mentioned when ut shortens our attention spans and seem to make everything faster, when in in reality (Teto) it actually isnt
As a hypnotist, I'll give my two cents: Hypnosis is not viewed the same way in japan as it is in the west. I think cause japan's society is a lot about conformity, it's seen very differently as almost just a natural thing to listen to societal pressures. There's the phrase "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" I imagine what the song is alluding to. I'm an american so clearly it's not accurate but societal view of hypnosis is pretty different depending on the country.
my first time on your channel and wow i really couldn't image such a silly mv to have such deep message, i don't the habit to look into the lyrics that much so the whole of the song meaning went to my ear and left to another lol.
The super long, chemical enzyme thing, it’s something to do with DNA or changing DNA, so I think that Teto is trying to warn us that Miku isn’t human anymore
The sign isnt loss of hearing, its a symbol named sabudun which represents bad luck because of the 13 small spikes it has as most ppl know 13 is a bad luck number
My thought about teto... Okay, so yes, the screen swayed side to side like miku's but as you can tell, Teto didnt follow the swaying of the screen, instead she stayed still and blurred her eyes to avoid being hypnotised, and i thjnk the shut down part was cut off cause Teto's control of her body didnt get shut down unlike Miku's. And the parts where she asked for help WERE calls for help, tand also, when Miku went insane, teto stopped bobbing up and down for a few seconds, and Miku didnt even stop dancing when it was Teto's turn. And if you could tell. Miku was starting to dance off beat and didnt stop dsncing when the screen was covered. Little easter egg at the end, Teto actually got hypnotised as you can tell that her eyes went black, her sweat disappeared and she smiles.
I noticed that if you use the second letter in each word (for example "a", "r", "e", "h". And use Caesar cipher shift 4 it spells out "evil". Idk what if this is intentional or not but I found it really cool.
Seriously now I like to hear the analysis of Vocaloid songs even this song after I read the comments about what's going on inside the MV. In my opinion, it is so true that kids nowadays are hypnotized by the device (gadgets like phone, tablet etc...) and they can't observed what's going on around them in reality. Yet, personally I did hypnotized myself with the gadgets in the past (during my teenage) my dad was found out that I keep my phone on my hand 24/7 and he snitch it from me. Thankfully I took a Red Pill like Teto to wake me up to reality world.
teto probably did the jsl sign for help and the asl sign for help because people that speak japanese or english can probably watch this video. what im saying is she did it so both languages know she needs help as those are help signs in their place.
Not sure if you covered this, but at the very end you can see Teto close her eyes and when she reopens them they are completely black and she's smiling.
Towards the end Teto is scared but at the very last second you see that Teto gives in and she is now smiling and calmer, she has been hypnotized last second.
I actually noticed that miku is always smiling but teto has a fake smile on her face the time she saw miku she blew her cover by stopping to smile so i think the smile in that song shows the vulnerability of miku getting hypnotized but teto has a fake one so she can resist it since teto accepted the reality but miku resists showing blissful ingorance so she is more likely to get hypnotized
Also, you could point out that fully blackening of the eyes is a sign that the person has been hypnotized. In the video, 1:23 is a part of as you can see Miku getting hypnotized as the blue in her eyes was fading out quickly. Teto, on the other hand, gets hypnotized at the end of the video, and if you look really carefully, you can see her eyes are also black once she is hypnotised.
So this song about how reality places a significant focus on superficial appearances and deceptive behaviors, rather than on deeper qualities or values. This is why people turn to escapism when they become disillusioned. However, indulging in escapism for too long can lead to falling into another illusory trap. On the other hand, if you focus on reality for too long, you can also become disillusioned. So, it is important to strike a balance and engage in moderation. That's probably why Teto was asking for help silently. She was just as confused as Miku about what to actually do, and to outright ask for help is 'a feeble cry, shameful conduct,' as Miku put it. That's why the lyrics 'optimal solution…?' is ended with a question mark. Also, that's probably why she wasn't hypnotized as quickly as Miku, since she was still seeking help. Eventually, she too was hypnotized into shutting down. But hey that's just a theory! A music theory!
3:30 - So I didn't see anyone specifically mention these, and I felt it deserved some clarification so I'll put it here: 1. The sign language for the word "help" (as well as "danger/emergency") in and of itself is actually the same in a LOT of sign languages around the world, partly due to a lot of them using ASL as their base but ALSO due to "help" being a word a person would want to know and be understood in an emergency, and making it the same helps with that. 2. The second signal Teto makes (the fist with the trapped thumb) isn't technically a part of any formal sign language, but actually a fairly widely-known signal intended to help victims of abuse/kidnapping/etc. to alert people around them they need help without making any noise (e.g. if the abuser/kidnapper is within earshot of them so they can't say anything aloud). Notably, this signal has quite literally saved lives before (including one little girl who learned about it from TikTok), so it's very telling (in my opinion at least,) that Teto in this vid is seemingly in SUCH a bad way that she feels the need to use the "my life is in danger PLEASE HELP" signal when the basic ASL/JSL "help" sign seems to fail her. 🤔
I'd like to share a different take than usual ^-^, with the way it is showcased, it feels like they're on an eductional kids show, this seems to be a bit of a stretch, as I'm only taking from experience, first, Miku presents a problem, then Teto tries to help her overcome it with her struggles. Even at the game segment, they're simple words kids can easily spell, well. Except for that last one, of course. Not sure if it's really important, but i just wanted to share! Oh, and also their outfits, I know it's usually for aethestics for them to be wearing outfits, but it reminds me of those Japanese kids program where the adults would dress up as like daycare workers, an apron/overalls.
At the end, teto's eyes go completely blank, either giving in/surrendering, and or Teto is aware of the borders as we see that spiral, that Teto may have saw? Just a theory from a non-Vocaloid Fan!
i just found your channel, and your vid made me like this song even more. the first time i heard the song i had some interpretations, but yours are so good, awesome video, absolutely great job
For me the song is about escapism, but teto like 'nah bruh, this is suspicious' and ask for reality check but Miku like 'holy shit our reality cooked' and started to lost her shit. And Teto accidentally have an oopsie and mind breaking her bestie with the sudden reality check.
Yeah
maybe that's why she's so shocked in the end....she did this to miku😭😭
this is so funny because i always get reality checked by my classmate and i just ugly cry in the corner
@@udinchwan Yeah, the help signaling was pretty consistent before the reality check happened.
I thought similar except it’s about depression and coping with escapism and Teto’s trying to get her help
If you haven’t already noticed, in the quiz part where it spells out “help”. The fourth letters actually spell “S.O.S”. So Teto was actually asking for help twice in that scene
Thrice, look at her hand in that part
@@netto-kun fivefold, in the thumbnail, their poses along with the yellow dot make an S.O.S sign, also there is a moment where she blinks a lot and it traduces to S.O.S as well in morse
@@ItsTanuki0_Clock "in that part"
you can see it all the time:
1. Thumbnail
2. Quiz part (H E L P)
3. Quiz part (help hand sign)
4. ASL(??) for “help me”
5. Blinking in morse code
phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxylase could be something
Some things worth pointing out:
- The sparks in their eyes doesn't come back after the hypnosis scene except for Miku for a small frame before fully succumbing to it
- After the hypnosis scene, Miku and Teto are in front of a green screen, which to me is more like they're just acting and they're on a set, based on their expressions they're shocked about something or is just how they look in that small moment where Miku doesnt know she was hypnotized and Teto is terrified of what's happening (theory)
- At the very end you can see Teto's eyes going fully dark as she finally succumbs to the hypnosis
- Considering there's a small segment in english, I believe Teto's hand being in ASL instead of JSL is to further confuse/make the Japanese audience unaware of the calls for help (considering a Japanese audience is gonna watch these videos first/the video was probably thought with them more in mind or as an easter egg for an international audience)
ooh the green screen thing is a rlly good point!!
I think another point on the ASL vs JSL front, theyre obviously dressed in like 'classical' american diner/themepark/drive in attire - so Teto using ASL seems even less farfetched to me
Pretty sure help sings are universal
i think the hyponosis takes a while to happen, since it takes miku a little bit to become hypnotized and at the end teto becoems hypnotized (i think she got hypnotized right after miku did ) also anyone know ahy mikus a sonic employee and teto a wendys employee?
In the OG video, someone commented that miku probably hung herself to escape from reality which is why teto was so shocked, like she saw a dead body. Eyes going black means Dilated pupils. Neck popping is like the neck being seperated. And tongue out is usually in cartoons to show a character has died. So I think teto saw miku hanging herself and was like "Nah, I'd go into denial" and that's why her eyes turned black right at the end.
No, teto is shocked and stand still for a second, her eyes were dialated at the end bcs she got hypnotized
@@RaidenShogun278 that's what he just said
Honestly this would make sense since after Miku gets hypnotized, her neck seems to get smaller and smaller. Someone also pointed out that as she dances her limps aren’t correct, which I never noticed :)
"Nah, I'd go In denial" favorite line from the comments
@@333Mudita"You were famous Miku. I'll never forget you as long as I live"
Plus the confetti increases at the end which make me believe that it trying to make it look more positive. And at the end Tetos eyes darken as in she gave in to the hypnotize.
Lmao when confetti got super dense Miku's eyes bleed, like literally
The worse things get the more you try to hide it

teto was the one who said just look at it in moderation btw.
yeah i was a bit confused with the line distribution like what i said about the first verse;;__;; i think it is more fitting as miku's message tho but someone in the comments theorized this was about teto trying to tell miku the "painful reality" which is why in the end miku "broke" and now that i think about it, it kinda makes sense!!
thats explains why teto is the one who said "just look at it in moderation" after seeing how miku reacts to reality....thats my current thought!!
@@udinchwanI think that Teto was trying to truck the producers in the video that they were hypnotized already, and when they stood up during the muffled part her eyes were black so she just said “I’m hypnotized already, this won’t work”, so she’s tricking them
Therefore, when Miku became a puppet she was not only shocked because it was happening but also because it wasn’t happening to her, so they realized she wasn’t a puppet, explaining how her eyes turned black in the end
@@peanut4668 Good point
@@peanut4668 I saw mikus 80s outfit as living in the past, suppressing the present, the "good ol' days"
I always thought this song was about using willful ignorance to escape a harsh reality and its consequences.
literally the video
Especially with the green screen part that suggests they’re acting/being filmed.
omg thats so interesting!! no wonder people theorized this was about dr*gs www
and yeah!! when they showed the green screen right after they failed to hypnotize teto, a part of me thinks about how it's trying to tell us that it's all just a show, even when they try to tell us not to fall into sweet traps/fake vulnerability etc, that probably includes this one😅
If you look up the chemical on the ncbi website it says "Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in schizophrenia"

They could've easily chosen Teto's UTAU vb since it's literally free and can handle vocaloid-high notes more easily, but they didn't.
sorry if im ignorant but what is UTAU and SynthV AI? :'D
@@lunacat4040
UTAU is a free vocal synthesizer program, it works like Vocaloid using syllable samples from singers or actors to produce vocals.
@@lunacat4040 Im sure I replied to you but it seems it didn't appear srry 😭
UTAU and Synthesizer V (SynthV) are both vocal synthesizer programs like Vocaloid.
UTAU is free and it works pretty similar to Vocaloid using syllable samples pitched up and down to produce the vocals so it tends to have an unique choppy and robotic sound to it
SynthV uses an AI thats fed with singing samples instead, so it has a more realistic result since it directly imitates a real singer
@@lselm244 that's really cool :D thanks for explaining!
as someone studying biochemistry:
phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide (SAICAR for short) (*not* the enzyme that helps create it) is an intermediate compound in synthesising nucleotides (information carrying units in DNA) specifically purine nucleotides (adenine and guanine) which differ from other nucleotides as they have 2 carbon rings instead of 1 and they break down into uric acid
from what i can think about (i'm a science student my media literacy is in the dumps forgive me) i think this is honestly pretty relevant, thoughts below in hopefully simple terms
1. SAICAR is one of the last stages before the degradation cycle starts, so not much effort is needed to transform it into guanine or adenine, but that also makes it closer to breaking down entirely
2. purines are found in every domain of life and *literally everything* with genetic material, alive (animals, plants, bacteria etc) or not alive (viruses). you could say similar for pyrimidines but thymine is not found in specifically rna viruses
on that, it could show that being hypnotised makes you barely alive and anything but human, since the compound SAICAR transforms into is found everywhere genetic information is carried unlike other choices of random organic molecules
3. SAICAR as a compound itself has also shown to aid in cancer cell proliferation in low glucose environments as most cancer cells can't salvage nucleotides like healthy cells and have to rely on de novo synthesis (where SAICAR comes in) so take that as you will
hope this was helpful to you all, may the more theoretical people take over with this new knowledge + feel free to ask questions
I’ve always done tetos approach. It’s the only way to improve. We must embrace the struggle and learn from our failures. That pain, that struggle, and that failure is where we grow. It is where we conjure strength. Strength comes in the moments when you think you cannot go on, yet you keep going.
honestly thats admirable!! (as someone who only lives through miku's approach;__;)
true! it’s a lot like the book ban in some parts of America. sure the books may make you look bad but if you don’t educate you’re not going to improve, and eventually just be worse
Yo what if their colors are a reference to the blue pill and red pill? This would make hella sense
I want to add how Miku was wearing roller skates and roller skates can easily fall or easily hypontize teto was wearing shoes and shoes is more sturdy or less likely to fall! Great video! ❤
Edit: I doubt I'll do this again but thanks for 205 likes that's actually crazy tho 🧌
to add onto this theory, i think that mikus rollerskates emphasises on the no worries, life is easy breezy propaganda that miku spouts. You're having fun, but everything is fun and games until you fall and get hurt. Miku never got hurt, so she never broke the cycle. Teto did. Teto's shoes shows how she wants to move slow nd steady, take everything in, don't lie to yourself. She got heard and she grew from it. but i think i'm just overthinking this..😅
@@sanemisautistic I mean you do have a great point!
I'd also like to add that Miku's rollerskates doesn't have brakes, that makes it even easier to fall since she's dancing in brake-less rollerskates (and also isn't wearing any protection making it easier for her to get hurt)
@@Potato_Of_Regrets whoa! Rollers have brakes?! How come I never knew that! That pretty cool ngl
@Palette_withstarpal what kind of rollers did you see other people on, pal? I feel a bit concerned for these people
I just realized something…
the more we analyzed the song, the more of the mission or the intention of the song is more becoming complete, because we are "obsessed" just because we're analyzing it, and the song motives is complete
I have something strange in the miku's body after she got hypnotised at the end.
1) The neck looks broken. This is what happens when a victim h@ngs.
2) Puppet like poses.
3) the miku's body looks broken. Like all the bones are broke.
Idk what else.
Also she has a tounge out. That also happens when a victim H@ngs
Miku's legs stiffen but her hyper extended elbows and hands do look broken. She even stops moving her hands and just flails around like she isn't in control of her body like a janky zombie.
@@ladynavarre9474 all her bones look broken tho
@@Wowowzz her upper half looks more broken from the shoulders to her neck. Miku wouldn't be able to stand if her legs were broken, she would be slumped over if her spine was broken more.
Yea her neck is kinda broken and is getting thinner, like someone that got hanged😅.
We know the world is screwed, that there are things going on in places we don’t see that decide the course of our futures without our own will or input, and that society as a whole is heading down a course I’ve seen described as “The lamest dystopia ever.”
We all exist, working, surviving and like Teto, giving off feeble cries for help; but we never live.
Our eyes will glaze over from flashing lights and upbeat music, and we will become mesmerized, until we are unable to cry for help.
this is my favorite interpretation actually and it really captures how I felt listening to this!!! thank you for writing this, lovely comment, 10/10
This is one of the clearest interpretations I've seen, it really helped things make more sense to me! Thank you for taking the time to type it out ^^!
THANK YOU DAWG
Thanks for this
This is a great comment, really good analysis of the song.
Focus on what shape they are (a diamond/cross shape right now.)
NOW, watch until 14 seconds.
TW: Mention of hanging
At the end, Miku's pupils are dilated, and her tongue is sticked out, her neck isn't in place, your eyes are dilated when you're hanged, your tongue is sticked out when you're hanged, and your neck would obviously not be in place, not sure if this indicates something but I think it does.
notice how miku smiles before she goes neck breaking, and how suicidal people are happy before their last moments...same goes to teto at the end, she smiles before her eyes went fully dark
I really like the immortality thing too! tetos in her 30s while miku’s only 16, and she has been for a long time, symbolizing immortality (13 sided star thing) and only teto’s aging
kinda blabbering tbh take with a grain of rice
How tall is miku if she’s taller than a freaking 30 yo?

I don't know if everyone hasn't noticed this but at1:04 or so, Teto literally said "someone, please help" or smth like that.
YES! Everyone seems to be too “hypnotized” to realize the most basic cry for help
Yooo same pfp
Idk if someone already commented this but, if u notice at the end before teto so called gets " hypnotised " her eyes didnt have the pop like miku, ( either shes faking it or too lazy to animate it lol 😭) and before teto got "hypnotised" she took a deep breath like as she knew she was going to be hypnotised at that time and moment, my theory is that shes actually faking the "hypnotised" thing.
This is a personal thing but is it just me or in one part of the song i heard "save me." 😭!
Interesting. 🤔

Hey I'm a late reminder
During the hypnosis part where miku goes a bit crazy and is dancing off beat her limbs get a bit more limp and dangly just swaying about and her neck changes in thickness
11:03 this hits hard, i found myself willing to live just because "imagine how many songs you will lose" or "how will that anime ends", idk it's weird, i know someone that is on this world today just because no one would feed his cat if he passed away, reality sure is dark
Here's my take
-The thumbnail for the song spells S O S (Miku and Teto posing like S while the star shape in the middle is O)
-Miku has a white strip band and Teto doesn't (indicating that Miku is controlled? Also she poses like puppet in the last chorus)
-At the start of the song, there's a split second word that says "HYPNOTISE" in kanji.
-Miku and Teto wears normal shoes at the start of the video. In the chorus, Miku is shown to be wearing roller skates (likely to trip) and Teto doesnt change shoe.
-Teto almost trips meaning she is almost hypnotized. (My theory for Teto slmost tripping is that since Miku wears roller skates, Teto is trying to save her but almost fell into the hypnotism)
-Teto is constantly asking for help
-When the hypnotize scene begins, Miku is swaying with the background. The skies also stopped meaning she got hypnotised in just a day. While Teto's background actially changes for 10 times means that she has been resisting the hypnotize.
-In the end, Teto still gets hypnotize. (Another theory suggest that she is acting to be hypnotized just to stay calm)
Thanks for reading this 😊
Edit: I forgot theres more
-In the quiz scene, the first letter for each word spells H.E.L.P and the fourth letter after the Hat one spells S.O.S, also she signals the famous help sign at the quiz scene.
Lots of love, thank you for the video!

this analysis is genuinely really well made!!
@@udinchwan i love thinking about teto trying to save miku!! but also isn't the asl for helping everyone the gesture that teto did but instead of pointing up at herself pointing around her? it may also be because it's too obvious so teto just didn't decide to do it :'D

agree...i too will chose the blue pill ;__;
I think, that MV is about ;
Teto : Help, we almost get hypnotized.
Miku : *gets hypnotized*
Teto : Miku?! 😰
The Teto being hypontized at the last frame is something I definitely didn't notice, great video!
Frame also shakes for tetu, its just sped up as the sky. As most ppl say, the sky and the frame being sped up shows us how long tetu was resisting
a bit of a weird way ive interpreted this song is that teto is recommending bad coping mechanisms to miku and watching as miku goes farther and farther downhill, perhaps doing too much and dying because of it (drugs or sh (teto eventually following her) overall though the songs themes are about reality and escapism
Fun fact: teto is wearing big yellow gloves to try to get someone to noticed that she is needing help
Btw my comments give people PTSD soooo what im saying is teto wearing big yellow gloves aka a color that stands out but matches with her outfit and that are big
I like how theres so many details inside this one song
Love your analyses!!!
fun fact: the 13 pointed stars aka tridecagrams represent IMMORTALITY.
teto actually says "Someone help me (^ ^", in captions
just realized i had a typo in the thumbnail🥲🥲 ((ill fix it later))
There is so much detail and references in the song and MV There are different ways to view the lines as well (but it's gonna get checked too soon so I'll put it here) and I also think you didn't cover much of the industry side of the song so I'm still waiting for an hour analysis with every single reference detail and lyric analyzed in the MV or a 2 hour one... You should take in notice the grammatical errors in the song... It links Miku and Teto to severe chronic internet addiction
OH..im all ears please elaborate on 'industry side of the song'!! because i do have some think pieces on this but decided not to put it😭
as for the translation, my main source is the ones provided on the official channel and i don't really understand japanese that well to notice the grammatical errors but that's an interesting side!!
She also wears a seller woman outfit, like she is trying to sell an utopia.
Some stuff yall's might not know abt this animation :3
In the thumbnail,if you look at the body shape of miku and teto (and the 13 pointed star)
The confetti represents sanity.
Few confetti means they're still sane.
A lot of confetti means they're insane
Also,teto's fighting the hypnosis.
That's why after miku gets hypnotized, she's standing still, from day from day, trying to endure it.
At the end of the animation, teto gives up fighting the hypnosis, ans her eyes turn black.
A three pointed star (or a tridecagram)
Represents immortality,so maybe miku is now immortal in the part after she gets hypnotized (???)
Miku wears rollerblades, which is unsteady and doesn't have brakes, which most likely means if she falls into a "sweet trap",she can't turn around because rollerblades don't have brakes.
Also the 4th letter in each (not including the 1st word) spells sos in the quiz
Also the star is a tridecagram which represents immortality which I guess could be a reference to how all vocaloid characters are immortal (Miku, Teto, etc...) or something else Idk
ALSO the thumbnail of the song looks like an SOS, Miku and Teto as the S and the tridecagram as the O
ALSOOOO, Miku seems to be on the layer behind the star which could mean she has already chosen to be ignorant while Teto is on the layer infront of the star which means it took a while to fall into the sweet trap
Plot twist!
I got hypnotized by that MV because each time I listen to japanese songs, I keep clicking on mesmerizer
Someone please save me
...
Did you knew I see everything in teto's POV since I was an kid becuz glowing up with an controling mother was...
Traumatizing...
I'm an american so clearly it's not accurate but societal view of hypnosis is pretty different depending on the country.
my first time on your channel and wow i really couldn't image such a silly mv to have such deep message, i don't the habit to look into the lyrics that much so the whole of the song meaning went to my ear and left to another lol.
welcome!! hope you like it here!!
Idk what if this is intentional or not but I found it really cool.
that's very interesting. what's evil? reality?
Thank you so much for your analisis
Not sure if you covered this, but at the very end you can see Teto close her eyes and when she reopens them they are completely black and she's smiling.
Towards the end Teto is scared but at the very last second you see that Teto gives in and she is now smiling and calmer, she has been hypnotized last second.
Love these types of songs with details coherent to the themes that are a bit hidden
Very cool video, I hadn't even thought about the red/blue pill symbolism yet but it makes a lot of sense!
this video was awesome! i actually loved the editing. very simple and easy to digest. not eye-straining and constantly moving.
THIS IS AMAZING, really, I've been obsessed with this song and your interpretation is really good!
Also, after the hypnosis scene, the amount of confetti quadruples
I honestly think miku dancing before getting hypnotized means that she’s happy to finally give up trying
wow, that’s a nice analysis! you pointed out some interesting stuff there, real cool
3:30 - So I didn't see anyone specifically mention these, and I felt it deserved some clarification so I'll put it here:
Oh, and also their outfits, I know it's usually for aethestics for them to be wearing outfits, but it reminds me of those Japanese kids program where the adults would dress up as like daycare workers, an apron/overalls.
i live in Teto's POV... it sad when seeing ur friend had to pretend that theyre okay.
At the end, teto's eyes go completely blank, either giving in/surrendering, and or Teto is aware of the borders as we see that spiral, that Teto may have saw? Just a theory from a non-Vocaloid Fan!
The niigo cast made me activate my brain💀
also: hated by life itself is fire imo
No joke, ive listened to so much Japanese songs happy ones make me feel "nah. something is up" and first watch _I WAS FUCKING CORRECT 😨_
8:46 like shinamota, may he rip
WHY HAVENT I SEEN YOU SOONER?? I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE THIS SONG OUT FOR SO LONG AAAAAAA it was os sad that teto was hypnotized at the end though
Signs teto needs help:
1.morse code blinking. It means 🆘
2. Help hand sign
3. Another help hand sign
4. The quiz initials
Also in the english subtitles after the first verse it says "someone please help me (^^)" or smth
i just found your channel, and your vid made me like this song even more. the first time i heard the song i had some interpretations, but yours are so good, awesome video, absolutely great job
1:18 THE WAY I BURST OUT LAUGHING AT THE SIGHT OF TOMMYINNIT ToT NOT WHAT I EXPECTED TO SEE
"prostituting you wounds" is such a raw line
Teto Was hypnotized at the very end when she closes her eyes and reopenes them
Fun fact:The thumbnail spells out "SOS" I just realized that too.
