THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE WHATTT??? this video went so insane thank you all so so much!! here’s a short video of me highlighting a few of y’all’s amazing comments :) : ua-cam.com/video/I_kGdyZcjCE/v-deo.html mesmerizer has gotten english lyrics recently, so y’all should check that out!
Hi, u missing another one :>>> (The shoes may mean how strong and steady they mind is mind. And Teto wears normal shoes. and Miku wears roller skates This means that Miku's mind is not strong enough to handle the hypnosis. Because you can't stand for that long in roller skates. But you can stand perfectly normal with normal shoes ;) )
Hey, I noticed something in the video. From 2:06 to 2:15, Miku's side doesn't have any confetti, but from 2:16 to 2:23, Teto's side has confetti. Do you know why that is?
i also noticed that at 3:07 teto stops staring at us for a quick second to look at miku or off the camera, prolly this is part of the resisting stuff?????
Everyone always says that Teto also got hypnotized at the end, but I think she is pretending. See, right before she gets "hypnotized" she closes her eyes, and does something that kind of looks like a gulp. I think that was her collecting herself and getting into character. Otherwise, how would she get hypnotized right when she closed her eyes? After all "if you look too much at reality you'd go blind". This implies closing her eyes would in fact help her keep her "sight" as in sanity, rather than hypnotise her.
this is very interesting, but i also had a theory that blinking makes me more likely to be hypnotized since miku blinked during her hypnosis scene and teto didn’t, plus teto doesn’t blink at all during the whole video. either theory is on the table though
There are various theories that at the end they are not hypnotized, but BROKEN, but they're in normal hypnosis to handle daily life at first before they break... I think there's a breaking hypnosis and a safe hypnosis...
i firmly believe this song is about corporate slavery; -their outfits are that of waitresses, a job that notoriously pays low and has little to no unions -all of teto's body + spoken language for help (my guess is she knows she can't get out of this?) -teto standing still while days and nights pass behind her, showing that the days are so monotonous that her life is passing her by -"durability wearing down" could mean you're doing too much and your body isn't getting enough rest -miku saying "it's unrewarded everyday" referring to busting your butt daily and getting no reward for it (dealing with rude customers is what first comes to mind) -"it's a bot-like cycle" = the 9-5 lifestyle being notorious for being boring and monotonous -praise has no meaning anymore + fake charisma, yeah = "good jobs", "you're doing great"'s from your boss with no substance behind them, just to keep you content -miku hangs herself in the final chorus (pale skin, broken neck, dead eyes, tongue sticking out, before the chorus she had a choker on). i believe throughout the song she was tying to delude herself into thinking it'll get better one day, but eventually gave up. this is something we're seeing a lot of lately; suicides among workers are increasing staunchly with each generation as it gets harder to survive. teto tries to resist, but is shown at the end to have given in to an extent -most people who come home from 9-5s nowadays are so exhausted that all we can do is pop a microwavable dinner in and doomscroll on tiktok for hours on end, which is what the hypnosis is (trying to distract you from the fact that it's borderline impossible to survive in this world nowadays) ties to the line about how you can't live sanely in this world anymore and need something to take the edge off
"This will be even worse" imo reads as Teto explaining to Miku that giving up and falling into hypnosis to make her feel better is worse than just going through the boringess of life
Is it really more boring when you are virtually unconscious and don't even experience boredom or thought? Its like sleeping while alive, doesn't sound that bad to me
notice how teto is looking at miku while singing this as well, as though worried about her and trying to explain how the path she’s going down is not the answer
To have not 1 but 2 words of similar purpose hidden in the same way within those few shown words is honestly very impressive and hard to pull off, the amount of searching to get the right words to make both fit
I think this symbolizes escapism and how bad it is if we delude ourselves with it. Procrastinating, escaping reality all together instead of facing it, and changing things for the better. Most of us can't seem to escape escapism (ironic). I think the reason they're in a vertical box is to symbolize a form of escapism, like watching TikTok dances, UA-cam shorts, Instagram reels, etc. (The character shots are all in phone aspect ratio.) This whole song is a commentary on phones, the internet, and screens and how they "hypnotize" people into using them all the time with bright, flashy graphics and continuous stimulation. And also about toxic work culture in general. People get stuck in an endless, unrewarding, bot-like cycle of work, not doing anything to change it, and seek temporary escape and happiness. They get *mesmerized* and hypnotized by it *Like a swinging coin.*
You have a point. Constantly I’ve been looking at how depressing society has become, social media isn’t socializing, texting and calling isn’t being there in person. Taking photos to show a false image of yourself to project onto others that your life is Together when it’s not. Always comparing yourself to what others have and what you don’t. The words and depictions in this song are hella catchy but have tons of meanings. Glad it blew up, Miku and teto are a crazy duo
Funny how it also reflects to the current generation (that being gen alpha) filled to the brim with brainrots, content farms and more awful things that can do to the young audience.
2:54 I can't be the only one who finds the last poses that Miku does to be really unsettling, like, before Teto begins dancing, her 4 final poses before closing her eyes are SO exaggerated, at that point, missy girl was already gone
You're not the only one, a thread on twitter pointed that out too! Her poses(?) seems natural before--well, as natural as an animation can be--but her poses at this point was kind of... marionette-like...
!! i thought of it similar to like a marionette or when ur a kid n (stick with me here) make your doll dance. like focus on her hands- and her facial expression rarely changes for the rest of the song compared to before where she was very animated
and also 2:55 i don’t believe this pose shows up at any other point of the song! but do correct me if im wronggg its just very interesting that after shes hypnotised her poses lack any sort of…life, really
A detail someone mentioned was: After Miku gets hypnotized she moves like a doll, as of there's someone pulling on strings and her skin turns white, just like a doll.
what you missed about that one chemical in the quiz is it’s a growth hormone that grows brain and lung tumors, i’m assuming it’s used as a symbol of a deteriorating mental state because of the brain tumor physically obstructing how you function
i noticed that when it tells us, the viewer, to "FOCUS!" the second time, the area that we were supposed to focus on turned into a hypnosis type thing, meaning miku is inviting us to get swayed by the hypnosis????????
i dont really think that miku's the one inviting to do this. during the hypnosis part it's very obvious that someone (not teto) is swaying a coin left and right for miku, which is what got her hypnotized. I believe that whoever hypnotized miku is the one who is trying to hypnotize the viewer. /gen!
there's a darker theory where, miku hanged hrself, which explains why when shes fully hypnotized, her neck moves around weirdly (when you hang, your tongue sticks out if you didn't know). Usually black ties can also be used when someone is mourning. 2:50 the hypnoticing thingy is not visible when miku sings 2:59 it slowly becomes visible when teto sings. I believe in the quiz time both of them were asking for help. For some reason their pupils seem to have stars when they dance (They are both hypnotized when dancing and singing, but Teto seems to try to resist and calls for help before it's too late) 2:59 miku closes her eyes to not show that she's hypnotized. The excesive confeti might contribute to the hypnotization, 3:53 teto probably knew this so kept eyes half close to resist the hypnosis, but it was too late. So in my theory, I believe they were being hypnotized into hanging, thats why the lyrics are so depressing. also noticed, 2:45 maybe a past conversation they had? where Miku is finally giving into the hypnosis but by the lyrics teto tries to stop her from doing it, but as you can see in tetos face at 3:09 , it didn't work
I think this is about Gen Z and the internet. Growing up with misinformation on the internet and being told what to think, the emotional trauma that comes with it, and how some people choose to be "hypnotized" by content on the internet instead of facing reality.
I think Miku was "mesmerized" the entire time, but was able to hide it, while Teto had resisted it up until the end. That's why Teto asks for help, while Miku doesn't. I think that's what the scene with Miku "shutdown" is trying to tell us. Miku's mental state was more fragile and therefore she was more easily controlled
i like to think that teto is self aware and has been through this before. every time someone replays the video she asks for help, but the viewer wants to watch it and lets the video continue, allowing teto to watch miku become hypnotized and get hypnotized herself over and over again.
Smth else I noticed is that Miku's dressed as one of those 50's waitresses and Teto is dressed as a bellman. These two jobs are often associated with serving people and obeying orders. Which is curious because of the "hipnosis" topic, and it makes me think that whoever who tried to hypnotize them both is also commanding them to hypnotize more ppl, as if it was some kind of contagious desease
Btw me go I little lore thing what if they were like kidnapped or something cuz Teton was doing 3 sos signs and the camera when black after Teton made she was try to get out of there or past out so the people had to another method of hypnosis ( I think idk I'm just a dumb person on the Internet) :D
@@Art_gremmy I think that star in the middle separating Miku and Teto is the one that they were staring at along with the consistent confetti, and that's perspective of us, the viewers, that's why Teto was trying to constantly not give into the hypnosis, and we don't even know what she and Miku were hypnotized by so it's safe to assume they were both looking at the star that appears in the middle of their chorus, also I think the song's name is mesmerizer because of the themes of escapism and hypnotism present throughout the song because it's obvious, and maybe because the star in the middle including the weird spiral form that it has near the ending *IS* the Mesmerizer.
There was a Japanese comment on the original video that I think might be the most accurate interpretation. Basically Miku and her lyrics repesents the Blue Pill way of thinking. She buries herself in fiction and then gets completely annihilated from ignoring reality for too long. Teto on the other hand, represents over-dosing on the Red Pill side of things. So while on the short term, she can handle problems slightly better than Miku's way. Teto also has the ability to ask for help from those around her. Since she's honest with what she lacks and reacts accordingly. But because taking in reality nonstop with no breaks, no fun, leads to problems in it of itself. It will lead to burnouts.
The excessive confetti can be a symbolism for covering all the bad things up with colorful and cheery things, like putting a bunch of frosting and sprinkles on an already burnt cake.
I also realized something, might not be accurate, but notice how the yellow badge things on their chest. Miku has it on the right side, while Teto has it on the left. Probably symbolizing the logical left brain (teto) trying to convince the emotional right brain (miku), sort of like an internal conflict, but instead of succeeding, the left brain also falls for the hypnotising.
The enzyme described at quiz time is a very important enzyme that is a pathway for not only regular human DNA, but also cancer cells, especially gliomas (brain tumors) and it allows for them to be sent to (matastocized) other parts of the body. I'm better with regular medicine, biochemistry is extremely difficult to understand for a layman, but I think this song is about losing to brain disease. As someone with mental illness, it can certainly create a level of hopelessness, but I think this song goes a layer deeper into a sort of helplessness that the average person just can't understand, falling apart at the seams of a disease that most professionals would struggle to address To me the biggest hint is when the 13 pointed star turns black, looking like a teratoma or similar tumor
isn't it just an intermediate form of purine. looking at both Wikipedia and pubchem there no other info about, it's got chosen most likely because it's have really long as name, btw the name in quiztime is wrong. it's Phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide (saicar)
@raisofahri5797 I thought it was the other one on the same gene which ends in -carboxylase but I might be wrong. Honestly this isn't up my alley at all, but while i was trying to figure the song out I found a report on NCBI about the gene those two enzymes share, with several references to other reports linking this gene to having a role in glioma growth and travel. I might be way off base, I just wanna float theories because I love song analysis
SOMETHINT ELSE THAT IVE NOTICED. see how teto stops signalling for help after the hypnosis scene? before she got hypnotised at the end, she already knew it was too late so she gave up
Some jp bros in the og video suggested that when miku "transformed" ,she basically Наng Herself because the tongue is sticking out(1 attribute), neck is loose like it doesn't have a muscle hardness (2 attribute), and the "dilated pupils" (3 attribute). And the amount of confetti is like saying "Congratulations, the game of over. Good job."
I remember an optical illusion in which you have to focus on a point in the middle of the screen, with two faces on each side, thing is, if you focus on the point you will not realize that the faces on each side changed features, like upside down eyes, mouths, crooked noses, weird eyebrows, etc
yeah, but its not really so much an optical illusion as much as it is an experiment to make it harder to recognize human faces. This has actually been shown to cause nightmares in some people!
I haven’t seen anyone else mention this yet but I believe the spinning star in the middle which is labelled with “focus!” In different parts of the video is meant to serve as a “distraction” for the audience to ignore Teto’s signs. This also coincides with the song’s name, ‘mesmeriser’ as its almost trying to hypnotise the audience, and also is a visual component to the line “IF YOU LOOK TOO HARD INTO REALITY- YOU BECOME BLIND” or something like that. It could also potentially be broader symbolism for when being depressed, you can focus in on being happy so much that you miss the greater point, or that you get stuck in the same cycle that ultimately doesn’t help.
1:53 I noticed that in the quiz time, if you use the second letter in each word (for example "a", "r", "e", "h") and use Caesar cipher shift 4 it spells out "evil". Idk if this is intentional or not but I found it really cool
there’s a theory that miku was actually hanged in the last verse!! her outfit consists of a black choker, which doesn’t really suit the rest of her clothes. her neck’s also broken in the last verse. we can see her pupils are dilated, her skin is more pale and her tongue sticking out, all of which are known to happen to dead bodies
2:56 If you didn't notice, Teto was glancing towards Miku while dancing on her part due to her concern of her movements earlier slowly starting to become unrefined compared to the previous section
Also another thing I noticed are Teto's white circle pupils are much smaller than Miku has, meaning that she was slowly getting hypnotized throughout the whole vid. (Just a quick detail I found out after rewinding the video a couple of times lol, hope people noticed this XD)
@@waterized_plus_bottle yup, it went from stars (b4 teto realised) to circle (after teto realised) to panic mode (when teto sees how bad it actually is)
1:40 according to google a semicolon is a hope for people who have battled depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health issues. It is also a symbol for someone who has lost someone to suicide. So maybe Teto is trying to comfort miku bc she already lost someone or battled depression herself? Idk
2:57 you forgot that teto was trying to keep an eye on miku while she’s dancing 3:16 miku’s arms flailing in an inhumane way, and her neck breaking, exposed tongue, signaling someone who had committed using a noose 3:17 teto dancing a lot faster (which meaning her being nervous)
2:06 you can clearly see miku's pupils being filled with a dark shade which can mostly likely represent the progress of their hypnotization, teto's is slow meaning the hypnotization for her took longer until hers eventually turned black. 2:54 when miku speeds up her dance, her fingers don't clasp in one part which can mean that she's being controlled like a puppet and most puppets don't have the option to clasp their hands. teto is aware that's she's hypnotized before her moves became lousy. this took kinda long to type so i appreciate if you read it. please take this with a grain of salt!
just a thought, but when teto resists the hypnosis, she squints her eyes (see no evil), the music gets blurred (hear no evil), then she shuts her mouth (speak no evil)?
also i think a tiktok comment mentioned this once, one of the lyrics is "if you stare too long at reality, you'll go blind!" and the whole time during the 'fill in the blanks' part miku was staring at us, or i guess the fourth wall, while teto was looking else where.
2:43 1- Shows them in a green background Which means that the background is fake. 2- Miku is standing still, like nothing happened while teto is shocked/startled and her hand is in her mouth. Miku is already hypnotized in here. In 2:59 , once teto is singing the blue parts of the background starts to become darker to the point that it's black and also the exact same symbol we see in the MV 3:10 Miku's dance in this part seems to be the same as a Marionette. In the start, their eyes are all shiny but as the song progresses, they begin to lose their shine. "Phosphoriboslaminomidazolesuccinocarboxamide" is apparently used in hypnotization The fourth letter of every quiz spells "SOS". Both Miku(when she's hypnotized) and Teto's face(in the end where's shes hypnotized) are pale. Edit: this is just what I've also noticed🤷
What's also cool is that at no point in the song do the confetti leave Miku's and Teto's windows, only when Miku finally snaps do they start falling in the foreground. At that point Miku completely broke, Teto is slowly losing her mind seeing her friend become a full on puppet and now they finally started focusing on fully hypnotising us, right at the catchiest part of the song which people usually keep rewinding over and over
my personal opinion is that teto doesnt "get hypnotized" in the end, but is forced to give in (pretend to be) because its an never ending cycle, she doesnt even try anymore
Neon colors also represent danger Also in the thumbnail it looks like it says SOS with their bodies and that little tridecagram ♡♥︎edit♥︎♡ i meant to say it spells out sos with their arms and that tridecagram sorry yall😅😅 AND ALSO at 1:10 teto is saying help and miku is saying please
I don't know if someone else made this point already but the way they are closed in a rectangular space and dancing to the camera looks a lot like a tik-tok or a reel, the "green screen" too telling you everything is fake. This video is so interesting, I find new things every time.
!! I learned this from twitter!!!! !! the long word at the end of quiz time (2:00) relates to a metabolic disorder that affects hearing, this may explain why the music goes quiet during teto’s hypnosis part and maybe why Teto doesn’t get hypnotized at first
@@pineapplequeen4177hat has 3 letters, obviously they can’t do it with the first word because help has 4 letters, they had to make it every 4th letter so hat wouldn’t interfere with the sos thing
I think the confetti might be used to intentionally blur the video as the characters minds get blurrier, having a ton of confetti on screen on UA-cam makes the quality drop drastically
At 3:06 Teto was staring directly at the camera. Then to Miku, pretty shocking how much small details was represented in this mv 😭 Edit: in 2:55, as teto dances, she will look at Miku too!! (If her head is turned to the left side of our view)
I think the symbolism for the excessive confetti is that it’s supposed to pretend that everything is normal and miku is happy since confetti is usually to symbolise good events happening idk just a food for thought
For me i think the abundance of confetti is their sanity slowly chipping away, from the start you can see that there is not much confetti when it starts but the more the song progresses, the confetti is overflowing
Something that i couldnt get off my mind after reading JP comments is the fact that when the hypnosis happened, miku was forced to face reality but because she was used to running away from it, the pressure she got from facing reality became too much for her and she eventually shuts down. Near the end, miku’s pupils dilated, neck drooping, and her tongue is out which might indicate that she hung herself. For teto, it wasnt that she resisted the hypnosis but she was actually immune to it. In the end she also eventually shuts down because it was also becoming too much for her. Im not sure abt it though but i rlly like this theory of them and honestly it makes sense.
Suicide victims tends to be more postive and calm when they're about to attempt said things, which the victim's closed ones would be surprised when they attempted/succeed as if they were getting better. The part after miku got hypnotised and teto resisted it, miku seems fine for a moment which teto is relived since miku was looking "normal and happy" until the second part happened.
THERE AFE A FEW INTERESTING THINGS NOT MENTIONED HERE: Teto's first few verses that were capitalized are about escaping or being saved. Miku's dance also gets less "human" after the hypnosis, her movement seemed less natural even before her face goes wild - pay attention to the poses, one of them has her left arm twisted way farther than normal Another cool thing, I got this from another source: -Miku's outift is somewhat similar to a maid or waitress, which in general takes orders from others or does what they are asked for -While Teto's outfit is similar to that of a train conductor, may seem to symbolize how Teto wishes things to be in her control
0:49 There is also a meaning Teto can't escape. 2:55 Miku's movements (Head and arms) starts to change differently like she was controlled like a puppet
1:24 Miku wears roller blades whilst Teto does not, and we might be matpat levels of insanity with this one but I THINK Miku's roller blades represent how she's easily more taken control of by the mesmerizer whilst Teto took till the end of the video to give up
I think the rollerblade is part of her costume design. I believe Miku is supposed to be dressed as a carhop. They’re essentially diner waitresses with roller blades, which was a popular thing in the 1930s-1950s. People have said that Miku representing a waitress, and Teto representing a bellboy (coincidentally known as bellhop) are dressed as occupation that follows order. It is interesting that Miku is dressed a specific type of waitress instead of a regular waitress tho.
I also collected my thoughts after listening to it probably 10+ times, so here it is. "The ultimate escape" isn't about hypnosis, it's about running away from the person who holds Miku and Teto and tries to hypnotize them, that's why Teto says next "If even fall into a sweet trap, can be saved". Teto most likely understands that they both, even if resist as much as they can, in the end will anyways be hypnotized. But there's a way to escape this person and place. "Now can't live sanely in this world anymore, to pretending not to know and give oneself up - optimum solution?" This can be Teto's thoughts. Before this, she says that there's a way to escape person holding them, and this phrase can mean that she thinks, whether she should try to escape openly or pretend that she doesn't know about person's intentions and behave like she falls into hypnosis. Or maybe, since she talks with Miku, this is Teto's way to give her a signal to behave like she also 'doesn't understand' what's going on. If that's true, then later Miku really starts behaving like she doesn't understand anything. But eventually this gets out of her control and she ends up being hypnotized. Teto asks for help of viewer. We aren't one who hypnotizes them - no point in trying to hypnotize ourselves by video. So, viewer isn't person who holds them, and Teto signals that she needs help as much as she is able to - ASL gesture, SOS signal, "HELP" in quiz, at P also 3 times she does sign that people do when they need help but can't say it out loud. The only thing here that Teto tries really hard to resist is set up of the video. You see, in quiz, there could be easier ways to choose an object that starts with P. And the chemical choosen, phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide, is a protein coding gene. It's responsible for several diseases, such as Phosphoribosylaminoimidazole Carboxylase Deficiency and Spinocerebellar Ataxia, X-Linked 3. First one is an autosomal recessive disorder associated with multiple congenital anomalies and early neonatal death. It is an inborn error of purine metabolism. Second one is rare form of spinocerebellar degeneration that typically begins in infancy. It is characterized by symptoms such as hypotonia, ataxia, sensorineural deafness, developmental delay, esotropia, and optic atrophy. The disease follows a progressive course and often leads to death during childhood. So what's the point of showing this to us? I think Teto tried to point that either Miku, she or they both has problems with this gene, leading to deafness and problems with vision. If it's so, then whole set up means 2 things. First, mesmerizer knew about problems with vision and hearing, and used it to confuse Teto and Miku with lot of bright colors and loud noises - this way, they'll unconsciously focus on part with hypnosis, when place suddenly changes to steady and quiet. Second, mesmerizer could predict Teto's behavior and tried to focus us on center of the video instead of Teto's signals. I think Miku was hypnotized so quickly because she didn't really know how to behave at the start - most likely she got Teto's signal to pretend be unknowing, but that's it. While Teto had to be in sync with Miku, ask for help and 'look away' from mesmerizer - it's hard, but she must have known more than Miku, so that's why it took 10 days for her. My conclusion: there wasn't any way for viewer to save them. The only way to stop this torture is to close the video. And even in lyric, sadly, Teto understands that she is constatnly fighting and is already left with nothing (Miku was hypnotized), so it's easier to just give up. That's why at the last part she also starts looking right at 'reality' to get hypnotized too.
so i saw the japan comments and they said this Isn't miku hanging in the last scene? Eyes are black = pupils are dilated Neck not sitting = neck broken Tongue sticking out = If you hang yourself, your tongue will stick out. yah its really creepy, i translated tho they also said this at the dance scene the shoes you can sometimes see when Miku-chan and Teto-chan are dancing. Teto is wearing sturdy shoes and seems to be able to walk steadily, while Miku is wearing roller shoes that don't have any brakes and look like she's going to slip. I like it because it seems to represent that Tet is resistant to hypnosis and Miku is not. yah thats all i got
3:08 Right before Miku hits insanity, the covering mouth hand gesture according to google means, "a degree of nervousness, insecureity, and a need for protection"
i feel like this song could symbolize losing yourself in your life, repeating the same routine over and over again until you go slowly insane. I feel like Miku and Teto could represent workers at an amusement park or which basically have the same routine of operating the same machines over and over again, talking to the customers about the same thing over and over again, saving kids from accidents etc... I feel like in this case Miku basically goes insane from the same repetitive routine while Teto tries to keep her sanity but ultimately failing in the process (i can theorize that the scene where Teto doesn't get hypnotised could actually be her trying to endure and keep the same routine while Miku getting hypnotised could mean her finally having enough), the scene where Miku starts dancing strangely before getting hypnotised and after getting hypnotised might be her "way" of trying to change her life into something she wants for herself which would result in Teto getting "hypnotised" too because she can see that despite the creepy face, Miku is happy and so decided to let go of her old routine too. This song kind of reminds me of factory workers, who have been known to having worsened mental states because of their monotone work routines. Of course, this is only my interpretation of the song and I'm sure there's a lot more explanations!
Where..? Because the sign in asl for please is a small circular motion by the chest…and Miku doesn’t do that in the video from what I saw. She doesn’t do it in JSL either lol
The only few things I managed to spot was Tetos “help” signal, teto resisting hypnosis, Miku losing her mind, and teto getting hypnotised at the very end 😭😭😭
2:46 also their starry eyes have faded away, leaving a simple dot in its place. They're also no longer doing a special move when singing the "Yeah~" parts like in the first chorus
I feel this needs to be said. The song is very likely about the all consuming void behind the vapid false praise and happiness in soulless corporate culture in our world. The state of the world is too much to bear, and Miku succumbs to it. But there's literally millions of people cheering for a virtual singer behind this song, and I think that's beautiful. Whether they know it or not they're all cheering for an incredibly catchy sigh of the working class. The world is full of incredibly terrible things but we can all make it a better place if we unionize, harmonize, and ultimately take care of it and each other. You're not alone and never have been.
the shear amount of details that is added into this MV is so admirable, it's one thing to learn these but to animate them as small things which people can miss too 😭😭
I find it strange and cool how this song is one of the very few pieces of media to genuinely creep me out with its visuals. I hardly ever feel a sense of uneasiness viewing such mediums and somehow this music video got me
Ive mentioned this on the original video but right as the music begins to pick up speed again (around here 2:54) you can notice miku's dancing changes to match how she dances when she breaks
Some additional things I noticed : At 1:42, I don't think this was part of the choreography, Teto almost tripped because the transition from the previous pose was hard, which is to show that Miku, on the other hand, performs at perfection compared to Teto. 2:53 Is the first sign of Miku being a sort of dead puppet; the pose here is a "failed" execution of the pose at 2:46, as seen with her left arm having an incorrect rotation, and her head being twisted. In the last part, Miku's eerie poses are more noticeable; this video is damn tragic since it implies Teto losing her friend to suicide [Miku's neck being loose, her skin being white, her tongue sticking out in her hypno variant, the censoring on her face in the thumbnail after decreasing the level/brightness, and also in the thumbnail; the pin-like looking thing on her head, probably to hold her together] and hypnotization, even sadder that Teto becomes hypnotized at the end, can't imagine what happens after...
2:53 oml and her dancing kinda started to pick up a little Or was that always there? Anyways apparently Miku gets paler when she 'gets hypnotized' or 'shuts down'
I don't think teto gets hypnotized by the end, cause when miku got hypnotized she had a certain pantern in her eyes (black and white circles), the full black eyes of teto's at the end means she lost hope, notice how she takes a deep breath meaning she accepted her fate
but miku also has fully blacked out eyes *while* being hypnotized. personally i think teto was half-hypnotized(?) during that cycle with miku but she still had some sort of control/humanity left; she also avoids blinking properly and keeps alternating between both eyes while at the end she just blinks and shes gone just like that 😭😭 this is just "theorizing" a bit though. ive also heard another person's take where teto mightve been hypnotized long before and was just pretending and luring the viewer with the amount of help signals given, like a siren. i think that's really interesting since even from the beginning teto told miku she'd bring her to "the ultimate escape", which was all that hypnosis shaboing!! such a fun song i havent seen this much analysis ever from a vocaloid song
Although it would be a nice thought to think she didn’t get hypnotized, notice how her facial expressions just suddenly goes blank from a disturbed teto to just a smiling teto with no emotions, setting aside the hypnosis I NEED THE LORE!
i noticed that at the start the shine in teto's eyes were shaped like stars, then changed to oval, then teto lost the shine in her eyes afterwards and her eyes get progressively darker throughout the song
The last prompt of the quiz is phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide (SAICAR), which is an intermediate for purines (e.g. Nucleobases, nucleosides, ATP). Phosphoribosylaminoimidazolesuccinocarboxamide synthase (or SAICAR synthase) is found in all domains of life and vital for energy metabolism (Catalyzes ATP -> ADP and vise versa, and participates in purine metabolism) and DNA synthesis.
I interpret the symbolism of this song to be something like this: they talk about unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with boring life when Miku gets hypnotized its like she gets "addicted" to said coping mechanism and continues to say the morbid stuff about life's meaning meanwhile teto resisted the hypnosis meaning she doesn't wanna give in to unhealthy coping mechanisms and talks about how its better to live life in the "boring" way than to be like miku also miku's behavior after being hypnotized is similar to when someone is hung, she also is the only one wearing a choker so maybe at the end when teto is hypnotized it symbols that miku died and now teto fell into the trap through grieving at the end instead of being encouraging like the first line teto kinda follows what miku says by the "dont stare at reality, it'll make you blind" thing this could have no relevance to the song's actual meaning but it makes sense in my head lol
I think having the animation presented in vertical frames is meant to mimic the format of short-form vertical videos, specifically tiktok, and how that sort of rapid fire, endless content lets you “turn your brain off”
0:41 “can be saved?!” Is in bold and all caps, also in that pointy speech bubble which is usually used to exaggerate? 2:56 notice that Teto also peeks at Miku when she’s dancing, prob alr realising sth 2:44 a good theory before I saw is that the green screen represents that they’re already being controlled (as “objects” easily manipulated as if they’re just materials in video editing) At 2:46 Miku’s movements have been slowed down, maybe representing that she can’t hold on any longer At 2:54 her actions suddenly become frantic and more aggressive(overall puppet like) especially there’s a move where she tilts her head, similar to what she does afterwards, the high note may also be a voice crack, showing that she’s alr succumbing. At 2:56 when Miku closes her eyes the background (blue part) darkens and reveals the star behind, may show that the immorality of this whole thing has finally revealed itself when things came to an end (may also represent miku’s mental state declining 1:44 Teto tries to escape from the canvas but failed This may be an over interpretation but Miku wears roller skates while Teto wears normal shoes, so Miku is more unstable? Also, miku’s outfit design is more complicated and overall more eye-catching (bc of the dress?) For most times the background color is red so Teto may be easily overlooked due to having the same color scheme. Channel may have purposely made Teto less visible so her struggles would be ignored? (Edit) At 3:10 the tridecagram is also larger than the previous ones that it even overlaps some of teto and miku’s screen (Also I’m rly bad at English don’t judge pls lmfao
2:24 forced removal is a common hypnosis process. The first hypnosis (under psychological suggestion) -> forced removal -> the second hypnosis (triggered after the other accepts it). It is possible that Miku has received complete psychological suggestions, so when the force removal happens, she forgets the hypnosis and accepts the cue when she sees the “focus”; although Teto's eyes darkened during the hypnosis, she resisted so the removal is incomplete. When the “focus” appeared she was looking at Miku instead of the screen because she’s in relatively a better state. (Google translated some from a comment in bilibili)
Also canonically Miku’s 16 and Teto’s 31 so it’s pretty normal that Teto has a higher resistance lol Also since teto’s sex is chimera so she has higher magic resistance LMFAO
2:26 At the first start miku said some things about selling wounds by piece and stuff which technically means she had to accept being brainwashed. Teto had to stay calm and if you stay still while everything else is moving you ears also stop thats why the music got slower. Also the 13 point star starburst colors have a meaning where your life is all dark but you try to cover it with happiness. At the start they talk about depression, right? Thats why theres a bit of confetti. But at the end if im not wrong they still talk about depression. But theres LOTTSS of confetti. This means people are forcing you to be happy in the worst ways.
More facts I guess 3:10 miku's neck became thin and thicker 0:12 instead of immorality symbol, number 13 was actually unlucky number on west 2:20 teto's eyes turned black too 2:46 teto was so nervous and looks at miku *Thumbnail:* SOS sign from teto's and miku's pose with the symbol in the middle *The song was talking about:* how was the reality world really is That's all, thx for reading
which would explain the hypnosis part, where miku lets herself be absorbed in hypnotism, while teto faces reality straight on and refuses to cover it behind lies
because the kind of people that get to the point of life that "I want to make an hatsune miku song" are nerds that haven't touched grass in a decade, that is the target audience ain't judging, we are both
0:42 this is why Teto can resist. “Even if you fall into a trap you can be saved” She knew there would be hypnosis going on. They both did. They thought it would be a simple “you’re getting sleepy” trick and if anything goes wrong the hypnotist will help them out. But she realizes something is wrong, this isn’t a relaxation trick, and the hypnotist knows full well what they’re doing. Miku on the other hand gets her mind smashed because she had no reference point. She thought this was how it was supposed to go. And honestly this theory brings another level of terror. They did this to just withstand the dullness of life, only to get betrayed.
I think the lesson is kinda about how we can be helpless in reality. For example, Teto knew they were stuck in this fake world, and tried to give us signs of help, but for what? We cannot do anything if we wanted to. Showing that Teto was helpless in her situation
i love the theming of the mv, the little details and all. i find that apart from the main (obvious) theming of helplessness and hypnotization/manipulation the song to me reads as a metaphor for unhealthy coping mechanisms and dissociation. (and/or self harm) throughout the song miku exclaims of how unbearable her life is, and teto seems to suggest a "solution" despite how it's inadvertently ruining her own life too (she seems aware of this, calling for "help" several times throughout the mv but nevertheless unable to cut herself off from her unhealthy habits) as the song progresses, comes the "hypnosis" scene, i view this as a 'contemplation' of sorts. whether these habits are worth the harm it causes the user, for the brief escapism it gives them. miku gives in eventually, but teto resists for as long as she can. at the end of the segment, shows a greenscreen shot, i believe this to be akin to miku and teto facing their "reality" for a moment, miku is already completely devoid of emotion while teto is shocked and in worry. i read a comment on the original upload from a Japanese commentor, saying that its possible miku's "hypnosis" is her comitting suicide via hanging (her eyes are blackened, skin is paler, limbs are completely limp and her tongue is sticking out as if she was choked to death +the black collar on her costume). adding onto this from my third paragraph, i think miku was contemplating suicide as a final end to her life problems, perhaps the dissociative coping mechanisms weren't enough to drown out the noise of reality. ("if you stare at reality for too long, you'll eventually go blind" (a telltale sign of a corpse is dark non reflective eyes)) another addendum to add to this, right before miku "loses herself" she seems nonchalantly happy and regains the stars in her eyes for a brief moment, whilst teto was concerned and stressed. i notice that a common sign of somebody planning to commit is that they'll suddenly become uncharacteristically joyful for the final time periods before they finally decide to do it. but thats just my thoughts :P id love to see more theories on this mv!!!! I really think theres some hidden symbolism with the hypnosis kidnapping thing
Not gonna lie, I love reading this take that you have on the MV because I too believe that it is about escapism from reality through hypnosis as a 'coping mechanism'. I just love Mesmerizer MV so much because it generates theories like this that I can enjoy reading during my free time, so have a like 😁.
The suicide thing could also be why the background gets so dark in the scene before miku does all that, and teto watches her and seems horrified. The darkening of the background could be the intention becoming more obvious to teto, but miku still acting happy makes her worried so she tries to watch her to make sure she doesn't do anything, but is horrified when miku actually does it because she was so happy leading up to it. Or the darkness could be mikus mental state, and her continuing to be happy is either a reassuring gesture to teto that she's fine despite teto seeing the obvious signs of something being wrong, or is her accepting that she's going to do it, being happy that it'll all be over Edit: And to add to it, the way teto is looking away before the full hypnosis thing, and then gives a very quick slight glance to miku right before, like 'she's happy, I can look away' and then looking back to check on her, just to see her hypnotized/dead(in this theory) I notice teto stares at her in her dance part while the screen darkens, like she knows something is deeply wrong and is scared for miku despite her smiling and acting happy
Something worth mentioning is the compound shown in the quiz time, the important thing is the P almost a the end, near to HO, OH, and O. That p, is part of a… special condition to sugarcoat it. That condition often doesn’t allow the user to pay much attention to specific things and may cause the lack of hearing. Maybe that is the reason why teto resisted the hypnosis for that long

"If you look too hard into reality, you'll become blind." Miku was staring at us the whole time.
WHAT THE HE- thats true because she lost control of herself,
OH THAT'S SO SCARY WHAT
No wonder why teto wasnt looking at the viewer.....
she also stopped bouncing for a split second bc she was horrified at what miku became
i also noticed that at 3:07 teto stops staring at us for a quick second to look at miku or off the camera, prolly this is part of the resisting stuff?????
Everyone always says that Teto also got hypnotized at the end, but I think she is pretending. See, right before she gets "hypnotized" she closes her eyes, and does something that kind of looks like a gulp. I think that was her collecting herself and getting into character. Otherwise, how would she get hypnotized right when she closed her eyes? After all "if you look too much at reality you'd go blind". This implies closing her eyes would in fact help her keep her "sight" as in sanity, rather than hypnotise her.
Hope this is true; Teto locking in would be a more interesting ending
this is very interesting, but i also had a theory that blinking makes me more likely to be hypnotized since miku blinked during her hypnosis scene and teto didn’t, plus teto doesn’t blink at all during the whole video. either theory is on the table though
There are various theories that at the end they are not hypnotized, but BROKEN, but they're in normal hypnosis to handle daily life at first before they break... I think there's a breaking hypnosis and a safe hypnosis...

i firmly believe this song is about corporate slavery;
-their outfits are that of waitresses, a job that notoriously pays low and has little to no unions
-all of teto's body + spoken language for help (my guess is she knows she can't get out of this?)
-teto standing still while days and nights pass behind her, showing that the days are so monotonous that her life is passing her by
-"durability wearing down" could mean you're doing too much and your body isn't getting enough rest
-miku saying "it's unrewarded everyday" referring to busting your butt daily and getting no reward for it (dealing with rude customers is what first comes to mind)
-"it's a bot-like cycle" = the 9-5 lifestyle being notorious for being boring and monotonous
-praise has no meaning anymore + fake charisma, yeah = "good jobs", "you're doing great"'s from your boss with no substance behind them, just to keep you content
-miku hangs herself in the final chorus (pale skin, broken neck, dead eyes, tongue sticking out, before the chorus she had a choker on). i believe throughout the song she was tying to delude herself into thinking it'll get better one day, but eventually gave up. this is something we're seeing a lot of lately; suicides among workers are increasing staunchly with each generation as it gets harder to survive. teto tries to resist, but is shown at the end to have given in to an extent
-most people who come home from 9-5s nowadays are so exhausted that all we can do is pop a microwavable dinner in and doomscroll on tiktok for hours on end, which is what the hypnosis is (trying to distract you from the fact that it's borderline impossible to survive in this world nowadays) ties to the line about how you can't live sanely in this world anymore and need something to take the edge off

(The character shots are all in phone aspect ratio.)
This whole song is a commentary on phones, the internet, and screens and how they "hypnotize" people into using them all the time with bright,
flashy graphics and continuous stimulation. And also about toxic work culture in general.
People get stuck in an endless, unrewarding, bot-like cycle of work, not doing anything to change it, and seek temporary escape and happiness.
They get *mesmerized* and hypnotized by it
*Like a swinging coin.*
I notice how miku's arms bend UNNATURALLY after she gets hypnotized. they move in ways that only broken bones or hyper flexible people could do.

!! i thought of it similar to like a marionette or when ur a kid n (stick with me here) make your doll dance. like focus on her hands- and her facial expression rarely changes for the rest of the song compared to before where she was very animated
and also 2:55 i don’t believe this pose shows up at any other point of the song! but do correct me if im wronggg its just very interesting that after shes hypnotised her poses lack any sort of…life, really
she is already gone when her eyes turn fully dark, btw teto eyes get darker each second especially after miku is gone mad.
What I realize is that it’s so exaggerated, it looks like a puppet being moved.
A detail someone mentioned was:
After Miku gets hypnotized she moves like a doll, as of there's someone pulling on strings and her skin turns white, just like a doll.

what you missed about that one chemical in the quiz is it’s a growth hormone that grows brain and lung tumors, i’m assuming it’s used as a symbol of a deteriorating mental state because of the brain tumor physically obstructing how you function

i dont really think that miku's the one inviting to do this. during the hypnosis part it's very obvious that someone (not teto) is swaying a coin left and right for miku, which is what got her hypnotized.

So in my theory, I believe they were being hypnotized into hanging, thats why the lyrics are so depressing. also noticed, 2:45 maybe a past conversation they had? where Miku is finally giving into the hypnosis but by the lyrics teto tries to stop her from doing it, but as you can see in tetos face at 3:09 , it didn't work
sorry if my english is bad!

I think this is about Gen Z and the internet. Growing up with misinformation on the internet and being told what to think, the emotional trauma that comes with it, and how some people choose to be "hypnotized" by content on the internet instead of facing reality.
Well... Thats deep.
I'm not sure what's more concerning, the people being hypnotized, or the creators that make these hypnotizing contents...
@@acezero8132 the creator just make representation i think.. But, yeah im not really sure
It also took Teto multiple days to succumb to it when you see the section where the screen wobbles back and forth.
i like to think that teto is self aware and has been through this before. every time someone replays the video she asks for help, but the viewer wants to watch it and lets the video continue, allowing teto to watch miku become hypnotized and get hypnotized herself over and over again.

So lesson is just stay in za balance?
okay wait this is actually very interesting, where did the blue pill and red pill thinking come from?
@@xyqnwdcn it comes from the matrix en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_pill_and_blue_pill

Teto didnt hypnotize. She actually gave in to guilt for failing to save Miku. Miku has a chocker on, neck unbalanced, and tongue out, hinting at hang.

As someone with mental illness, it can certainly create a level of hopelessness, but I think this song goes a layer deeper into a sort of helplessness that the average person just can't understand, falling apart at the seams of a disease that most professionals would struggle to address

Also another thing I noticed are Teto's white circle pupils are much smaller than Miku has, meaning that she was slowly getting hypnotized throughout the whole vid.
(Just a quick detail I found out after rewinding the video a couple of times lol, hope people noticed this XD)
@@waterized_plus_bottle no, the small pupils indicate panic/bewilderment (its an artstyle)
@@zuzoozuzoozu Ah okay, I understand now, so it wasn't a slow descent type of thing but thanks!
@@waterized_plus_bottle yup, it went from stars (b4 teto realised) to circle (after teto realised) to panic mode (when teto sees how bad it actually is)
Something I've noticed from one of teto's lines is "When you look hard into reality you'll become blind" And then Teto got hypnotized
Teto was hypnotized as the 10 days past, notice how her eyes change to become black too. She only resisted it and lasted longer than Miku.
1:40 according to google a semicolon is a hope for people who have battled depression, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health issues. It is also a symbol for someone who has lost someone to suicide. So maybe Teto is trying to comfort miku bc she already lost someone or battled depression herself? Idk
2:57 you forgot that teto was trying to keep an eye on miku while she’s dancing
3:16 miku’s arms flailing in an inhumane way, and her neck breaking, exposed tongue, signaling someone who had committed using a noose
3:17 teto dancing a lot faster (which meaning her being nervous)
2:06 you can clearly see miku's pupils being filled with a dark shade which can mostly likely represent the progress of their hypnotization, teto's is slow meaning the hypnotization for her took longer until hers eventually turned black. 2:54 when miku speeds up her dance, her fingers don't clasp in one part which can mean that she's being controlled like a puppet and most puppets don't have the option to clasp their hands. teto is aware that's she's hypnotized before her moves became lousy. this took kinda long to type so i appreciate if you read it. please take this with a grain of salt!
I don't why but Teto resisting the hypnosis for so long only to get hypnotized at the end makes me think that she gave up on trying after Miku gave in
MAKES SENSE
just a thought, but when teto resists the hypnosis, she squints her eyes (see no evil), the music gets blurred (hear no evil), then she shuts her mouth (speak no evil)?

They are also not moving so “do no evil”

2:43 1- Shows them in a green background
Which means that the background is fake.
2- Miku is standing still, like nothing happened while teto is shocked/startled and her hand is in her mouth. Miku is already hypnotized in here.
In 2:59 , once teto is singing the blue parts of the background starts to become darker to the point that it's black and also the exact same symbol we see in the MV
3:10 Miku's dance in this part seems to be the same as a Marionette.
In the start, their eyes are all shiny but as the song progresses, they begin to lose their shine.
"Phosphoriboslaminomidazolesuccinocarboxamide" is apparently used in hypnotization
The fourth letter of every quiz spells "SOS".
Both Miku(when she's hypnotized) and Teto's face(in the end where's shes hypnotized) are pale.
Edit: this is just what I've also noticed🤷
I may be late to this analysis bit but i noticed miku's smile changed from a wide D to just :) after being hypnotized
I noticed something, too. On the part where Teto was doing sign language for help, miku was doing sign language for please. Making c
"help please".
What's also cool is that at no point in the song do the confetti leave Miku's and Teto's windows, only when Miku finally snaps do they start falling in the foreground. At that point Miku completely broke, Teto is slowly losing her mind seeing her friend become a full on puppet and now they finally started focusing on fully hypnotising us, right at the catchiest part of the song which people usually keep rewinding over and over
2:12 I also noticed how Miku says “The other person stopped moving”
And then you see Teto standing completely still
3:10 also notice how the confetti never blocks the tridecagrams/optical illusion in the middle, probably meant to distract you
my personal opinion is that teto doesnt "get hypnotized" in the end, but is forced to give in (pretend to be) because its an never ending cycle, she doesnt even try anymore
When miku get hypnotized her neck changes thicker to thinner when you pay close attention
Neon colors also represent danger
Also in the thumbnail it looks like it says SOS with their bodies and that little tridecagram
♡♥︎edit♥︎♡ i meant to say it spells out sos with their arms and that tridecagram sorry yall😅😅
AND ALSO at 1:10 teto is saying help and miku is saying please
I don't know if someone else made this point already but the way they are closed in a rectangular space and dancing to the camera looks a lot like a tik-tok or a reel, the "green screen" too telling you everything is fake. This video is so interesting, I find new things every time.
I think this song is about living forever and them “snapping” is when they reach the point where they can no longer mentally continue
kinda makes sense!
!! I learned this from twitter!!!! !!
the long word at the end of quiz time (2:00) relates to a metabolic disorder that affects hearing, this may explain why the music goes quiet during teto’s hypnosis part and maybe why Teto doesn’t get hypnotized at first
1:51 in the quiz every fourth letter spells sos
Except hat?
@@pineapplequeen4177hat has 3 letters, obviously they can’t do it with the first word because help has 4 letters, they had to make it every 4th letter so hat wouldn’t interfere with the sos thing
@@pineapplequeen4177 Yes, because there is four words and SOS has three letters.
0:35 I just noticed that Miku's eyes are swinging in the beginning of the song as if she's being hypnotized already
(additional) unless it's part of the animation
I think the confetti might be used to intentionally blur the video as the characters minds get blurrier, having a ton of confetti on screen on UA-cam makes the quality drop drastically
that makes some sense but you can have like 1 quality set and it doesn't change
True
At 3:06 Teto was staring directly at the camera. Then to Miku, pretty shocking how much small details was represented in this mv 😭
Edit: in 2:55, as teto dances, she will look at Miku too!!
THERE AFE A FEW INTERESTING THINGS NOT MENTIONED HERE:
Teto's first few verses that were capitalized are about escaping or being saved.
Miku's dance also gets less "human" after the hypnosis, her movement seemed less natural even before her face goes wild - pay attention to the poses, one of them has her left arm twisted way farther than normal
Another cool thing, I got this from another source:
-Miku's outift is somewhat similar to a maid or waitress, which in general takes orders from others or does what they are asked for
-While Teto's outfit is similar to that of a train conductor, may seem to symbolize how Teto wishes things to be in her control
fun little fact
during quiz time the fourth letters of the last 3 words also spells sos
woahhh
Teto the whole time: HEELLLLLPP😢😢😭😭😢😢😢😱😱😱HELLLPPPPPP????!?!?!💀💀💀💀😭😭😭😭
haha! funny comment
Why am I hearing a voice from this comment 😭
0:49 There is also a meaning Teto can't escape.
2:55 Miku's movements (Head and arms) starts to change differently like she was controlled like a puppet
When teto is signing help Miku is doing the average “please” motion with her hands making “help please” or “please help”
1:24
Miku wears roller blades whilst Teto does not, and we might be matpat levels of insanity with this one but I THINK Miku's roller blades represent how she's easily more taken control of by the mesmerizer whilst Teto took till the end of the video to give up
I think the rollerblade is part of her costume design. It is interesting that Miku is dressed a specific type of waitress instead of a regular waitress tho.
fyi those weird letters in 3:10 is mojibake which is a result of a decoding error
The creator, on a community post, the quiz one, patient says invalid.
so i saw the japan comments and they said this
Isn't miku hanging in the last scene?
Eyes are black = pupils are dilated
Neck not sitting = neck broken
Tongue sticking out = If you hang yourself, your tongue will stick out.
yah its really creepy, i translated tho
they also said this
at the dance scene the shoes you can sometimes see when Miku-chan and Teto-chan are dancing.
Teto is wearing sturdy shoes and seems to be able to walk steadily, while Miku is wearing roller shoes that don't have any brakes and look like she's going to slip.
I like it because it seems to represent that Tet is resistant to hypnosis and Miku is not.
yah thats all i got
*DAYUM* that’s some good lore
Reading your comment made me creeped out even more
3:08 Right before Miku hits insanity, the covering mouth hand gesture according to google means, "a degree of nervousness, insecureity, and a need for protection"
i feel like this song could symbolize losing yourself in your life, repeating the same routine over and over again until you go slowly insane.
Miku also does the please sign in ASL! Since teto is doing the help sign, itd make "help me please" :P
when? before the quiz part?
Where..? Because the sign in asl for please is a small circular motion by the chest…and Miku doesn’t do that in the video from what I saw. She doesn’t do it in JSL either lol
WHERE
1:12
The only few things I managed to spot was Tetos “help” signal, teto resisting hypnosis, Miku losing her mind, and teto getting hypnotised at the very end 😭😭😭
2:46 also their starry eyes have faded away, leaving a simple dot in its place. They're also no longer doing a special move when singing the "Yeah~" parts like in the first chorus
2:57 also I think Miku closes her eyes for concealment
Some additional things I noticed :
At 1:42, I don't think this was part of the choreography, Teto almost tripped because the transition from the previous pose was hard, which is to show that Miku, on the other hand, performs at perfection compared to Teto.
2:53 oml and her dancing kinda started to pick up a little
Or was that always there?
Anyways apparently Miku gets paler when she 'gets hypnotized' or 'shuts down'
@@abiliv-lf9tz Oh yeah she does get faster with the beat
I don't think teto gets hypnotized by the end, cause when miku got hypnotized she had a certain pantern in her eyes (black and white circles), the full black eyes of teto's at the end means she lost hope, notice how she takes a deep breath meaning she accepted her fate
but miku also has fully blacked out eyes *while* being hypnotized. personally i think teto was half-hypnotized(?) during that cycle with miku but she still had some sort of control/humanity left; she also avoids blinking properly and keeps alternating between both eyes while at the end she just blinks and shes gone just like that 😭😭
this is just "theorizing" a bit though. ive also heard another person's take where teto mightve been hypnotized long before and was just pretending and luring the viewer with the amount of help signals given, like a siren. i think that's really interesting since even from the beginning teto told miku she'd bring her to "the ultimate escape", which was all that hypnosis shaboing!! such a fun song i havent seen this much analysis ever from a vocaloid song
Although it would be a nice thought to think she didn’t get hypnotized, notice how her facial expressions just suddenly goes blank from a disturbed teto to just a smiling teto with no emotions, setting aside the hypnosis I NEED THE LORE!
In the word quiz part every 4th letter spells out SOS
woaahhh good eye man
i noticed that at the start the shine in teto's eyes were shaped like stars, then changed to oval, then teto lost the shine in her eyes afterwards and her eyes get progressively darker throughout the song

I interpret the symbolism of this song to be something like this:
they talk about unhealthy coping mechanisms to deal with boring life
when Miku gets hypnotized its like she gets "addicted" to said coping mechanism and continues to say the morbid stuff about life's meaning
meanwhile teto resisted the hypnosis meaning she doesn't wanna give in to unhealthy coping mechanisms and talks about how its better to live life in the "boring" way than to be like miku
also miku's behavior after being hypnotized is similar to when someone is hung, she also is the only one wearing a choker
so maybe at the end when teto is hypnotized it symbols that miku died and now teto fell into the trap through grieving
at the end instead of being encouraging like the first line teto kinda follows what miku says by the "dont stare at reality, it'll make you blind" thing
this could have no relevance to the song's actual meaning but it makes sense in my head lol
I think having the animation presented in vertical frames is meant to mimic the format of short-form vertical videos, specifically tiktok, and how that sort of rapid fire, endless content lets you “turn your brain off”
for a spilt second at 3:08 it flashes the Japanese characters for hypnosis, 催眠 (saimin) which is cool
0:41 “can be saved?!” Is in bold and all caps, also in that pointy speech bubble which is usually used to exaggerate?
2:56 notice that Teto also peeks at Miku when she’s dancing, prob alr realising sth
2:44 a good theory before I saw is that the green screen represents that they’re already being controlled (as “objects” easily manipulated as if they’re just materials in video editing)
At 2:46 Miku’s movements have been slowed down, maybe representing that she can’t hold on any longer
At 2:54 her actions suddenly become frantic and more aggressive(overall puppet like) especially there’s a move where she tilts her head, similar to what she does afterwards, the high note may also be a voice crack, showing that she’s alr succumbing.
At 2:56 when Miku closes her eyes the background (blue part) darkens and reveals the star behind, may show that the immorality of this whole thing has finally revealed itself when things came to an end (may also represent miku’s mental state declining
1:44 Teto tries to escape from the canvas but failed
This may be an over interpretation but Miku wears roller skates while Teto wears normal shoes, so Miku is more unstable?
Also, miku’s outfit design is more complicated and overall more eye-catching (bc of the dress?) For most times the background color is red so Teto may be easily overlooked due to having the same color scheme. Channel may have purposely made Teto less visible so her struggles would be ignored?
(Edit)
At 3:10 the tridecagram is also larger than the previous ones that it even overlaps some of teto and miku’s screen
(Also I’m rly bad at English don’t judge pls lmfao
Miku's fractic movements resembles the movements of a puppet.
Also canonically Miku’s 16 and Teto’s 31 so it’s pretty normal that Teto has a higher resistance lol
Also since teto’s sex is chimera so she has higher magic resistance LMFAO
WAIT i love the design analysis!
@@PurpleCatOwO teto may be 31 but that's her human year age. 15 is her chimera age. xd

3:09 lots of confetti..!!!
3:49 TOO MUCH CONFETTI!!!!!!!
2:26
At the first start miku said some things about selling wounds by piece and stuff which technically means she had to accept being brainwashed.
More facts I guess
3:10 miku's neck became thin and thicker

That's all, thx for reading
Someone point out that in the quiz session teto isn't looking at us like she avoiding eye contact to someone that clearly not us
im not sure but i believe miku represents fantasy, while teto represents reality
which would explain the hypnosis part, where miku lets herself be absorbed in hypnotism, while teto faces reality straight on and refuses to cover it behind lies
Why so many Vocaloid songs are straight up calls for help? 🤨😥
because the kind of people that get to the point of life that "I want to make an hatsune miku song" are nerds that haven't touched grass in a decade, that is the target audience

Thank you for saying it for me@@klibero
0:42 this is why Teto can resist.
“Even if you fall into a trap you can be saved”
She knew there would be hypnosis going on.
Showing that Teto was helpless in her situation
the style is so simplistic and cute and they still unnerve me with mikus tongue out face. i dont get disturbed that easily theyre good
the yellow “tridecagram” in the beginning(specifically when miku and teto start dancing) actually fits perfectly with the pause button
i love the theming of the mv, the little details and all. i find that apart from the main (obvious) theming of helplessness and hypnotization/manipulation the song to me reads as a metaphor for unhealthy coping mechanisms and dissociation. (and/or self harm)
throughout the song miku exclaims of how unbearable her life is, and teto seems to suggest a "solution" despite how it's inadvertently ruining her own life too (she seems aware of this, calling for "help" several times throughout the mv but nevertheless unable to cut herself off from her unhealthy habits)
as the song progresses, comes the "hypnosis" scene, i view this as a 'contemplation' of sorts. whether these habits are worth the harm it causes the user, for the brief escapism it gives them. miku gives in eventually, but teto resists for as long as she can. at the end of the segment, shows a greenscreen shot, i believe this to be akin to miku and teto facing their "reality" for a moment, miku is already completely devoid of emotion while teto is shocked and in worry.
i read a comment on the original upload from a Japanese commentor, saying that its possible miku's "hypnosis" is her comitting suicide via hanging (her eyes are blackened, skin is paler, limbs are completely limp and her tongue is sticking out as if she was choked to death +the black collar on her costume). adding onto this from my third paragraph, i think miku was contemplating suicide as a final end to her life problems, perhaps the dissociative coping mechanisms weren't enough to drown out the noise of reality.
This makes way too much sense
The suicide thing could also be why the background gets so dark in the scene before miku does all that, and teto watches her and seems horrified. The darkening of the background could be the intention becoming more obvious to teto, but miku still acting happy makes her worried so she tries to watch her to make sure she doesn't do anything, but is horrified when miku actually does it because she was so happy leading up to it. Or the darkness could be mikus mental state, and her continuing to be happy is either a reassuring gesture to teto that she's fine despite teto seeing the obvious signs of something being wrong, or is her accepting that she's going to do it, being happy that it'll all be over
Edit: And to add to it, the way teto is looking away before the full hypnosis thing, and then gives a very quick slight glance to miku right before, like 'she's happy, I can look away' and then looking back to check on her, just to see her hypnotized/dead(in this theory) I notice teto stares at her in her dance part while the screen darkens, like she knows something is deeply wrong and is scared for miku despite her smiling and acting happy
