I still like glitchtale even after watching this video, I even read a fanfic once that centers around Alina, and I think it could have been a bit better looking back at it, but I think it's still good.

Honestly I'm a person who likes Betty noire and was the only character I liked besides chara and frisk was borning I wanted frisk to full on be chara for a bit and not going full out at the start

@@Ebh55. Yes, as it's really poor character design. In a modern setting, most women aren't going to be wearing ankle length dresses.
In, say, a medieval style setting you can definitely get away with it, but the dresses would need to look medieval style otherwise it's bad character design.
I understand that in a one person animation you'll want to simplify your work load as much as possible, but you can still keep it fairly simple by just making 3-4 'base outfits' that you stick on characters at random (eg. long dress, trousers plus t-shirt, trousers plus hoodie, and t-shirt plus mid length skirt (for the guys switch out dress with trousers plu shirt, and the skirt one with t-shirt plus shorts)). There, a simple way to give a much needed boost of variety to your background characters without notably increasing your workload. Like, as an animator myself I find the lack of effort to be really bad.
@@Ebh55. it's not a bad thing but the real problem is the lack of diverse designs for each characters. Some characters look recolored too.

For example, even in winx club, where most of the characters wear only short skirts and tops and it's kind of a "style" of the show, there still are characters who wear pants, long skirts, shorts, sweathers, etc. It gives a variety in designs and helps to make them distinct and unique despite literally being the same copypasted model.
In camila's case.. it's kinda plain. Colored sweather+pants or skirt describes almost every characters in this show. It's plain and boring..

If anyone wants a refresher, here’s how souls work in canon:
Red: does nothing, implied to have resurrective capabilities.
Light blue: also not incredibly useful, light blue attacks don’t hurt if you stay still.
Blue: gravity.
Green: can’t move, the only time we use a green soul is when Undyne gives us a spear to protect ourselves. Green attacks heal.
Purple: bound; can only move left or right, and switch roads.
Yellow: gun. Yellow attacks can be switched on or off by a yellow soul.
Orange: does nothing, orange attacks force you to move.
So purple attacks should be able to bind. Blue attacks could be magnetic. But apparently, they’re just blades, because I don’t know. Blue doesn’t even make sense; why is it a long sword? Why not something bouncy, since jumping is one of blue’s big things? And hey, since purple is perseverance, maybe it could create armor? Or some kind of mobile shield? Whyyy is pink fear? Why is fear evil? Perhaps it could have to do with cowardice and prejudice, but then why is Betty always fighting things herself? And what the hell is up with HATE? That’s not even a trait, everyone hates something, like how I hate this headache I’m giving myself.
Also apparently the skeletons who fight with bones and have exposed ribs and pelvises and are always showing their teeth have skin and mouths. PAPYRUS OPENS HIS TEETH LIKE LIPS, REVEALING MORE FUCKING TEETH. YOU CAN HAVE A CHARACTER EMOTE WITHOUT FACIAL FEATURES, I SWEAR. And let’s not talk about how often Camilla forgets the very principles of animation. Squash and stretch? Pose to pose? EXAGGERATION? WHAT ARE THOSE? No, animation is just moving characters a bit so that they slightly resemble living people, there’s no such thing as studying other works and reading what professionals have to say.

Honestly, we don’t even know what the red trait is, other than the fact that every red soul we’ve encountered is a being that is possessed by us, and the abilities it shows in Deltarune evoke freedom or control, or maybe even Hope. Honestly, people forget that determination is yellow.

Frisk at lv 1 was already able to take over the timeline from Flowey.

Moral nuance is challenging to write for, but like- if you can't think of a way to authentically make a character who's a bad person become a better person over the course of the story, then either keep them as a bad person or don't include them at all. As someone who was a kid-teenager during glitchtale's rein, I really want to dive into how camila treated her fanbase, specifically the younger fans.
It's literally like she hated them. When there were comments about when the next glitchtale was (yes it's annoying), instead of ignoring them, she made several videos pointing them out and "dunking" on them. And sending her older fans to attack these literal young children who were obviously around 8 or something. Imagine being a grown woman and laughing about bullying 8 year olds who are literally your fans.
And during live streams she would constantly call people stupid and clueless for fan theories (which were literally CORRECT) or talking about the "cringe" OCs people made and laughing at then or acting mad at how bad they were and again, sending her older audience to attack the younger.
Especially about the fan theories. She called them stupid and told them to "stop trying to make sans come back you're all stupid for not wanting a character to stay dead" and then she brought him back. Lol.
She then defended herself by saying she hated that people were getting it right and wanted to throw off suspicion or something like that. Which is insane, a normal person just wouldn't engage. But of course Camilla thinks its okay to attack children to cover her shitty writing.
She also made fun of kids on her glitchtale amino, their OCs and fanart. Her entire identity outside of animation and art was just bullying her younger fans and people laughing and harassing the children.
I wasn't harassed by anyone because i didn't post any art or comments, but it made me still feel insecure about being creative, art wise and fan theory wise, she just kept telling people to shut up instead of letting people think (probably because it was so predictable lmao).
EDIT: I think it's funny how you said she doesn't even know what a book looks like and that she can't read because my most specific memory from one of her streams is her and her fans insulting a child in the chat and then something prompted her to say "haha yeah lol I'd be surprised if half of you could even read"

I’m genuinely surprised that she’s never thrown a hissy fit about Toby Fox “stealing” her ideas for Deltarune, given how she seems exactly like the kind of person to do that and Deltarune ironically seems to be exploring a lot of similar concepts and ideas as Glitchtale but executed far better and much more creative.
Maybe she’s too scared to go after him because she knows she’ll be torn to shreds by the entire fandom for it, but considering everything that’s gone down with Veir, it’s not like she can make herself even more of a laughingstock than she already is.

@@iaminsideyourwalls2021 It’s a LONG LONG story but lemme summarize as best as I can. So basically Camilla has beef with Hopeless Peaches because during an art collab there was a misunderstanding and Camilla sold the collab art without Peaches’ permission. Hopeless Peaches confronted Camilla about this (both publicly and privately), and they seemed to forgive each other in private at the time. But Camilla constantly used it against her, like when Peaches was being dogpiled on a couple years ago. Whenever Peaches got into drama, Camilla always brought it up as a negative against Hopeless Peaches. There are entire videos documenting this and the peaches drama connects to multiple other dramas so I recommend watching those for the full breakdown.

1:09:08 admittedly, undyne DOES go through depression in undertale, during a neutral route, where you kill mettaton, alphys is implied to take their life, and undyne is depressed, and loses the will to do anything and sleeps on papyrus’s couch.
I don’t think camila knew that route when doing this depression arc, but I AM saying this has precedence.
Fun fact, my brother had started a story au called glitchtale with his friend in highschool and when he later found out this au started he changed the name of their au (even though they had conceptualized theirs first he had never published anything online and it was all just stuff with a friend) when he found out what happened with this AU he was really happy that his wasn’t affiliated with it

Can't fault Camila for those two being considered separate SOUL traits. That one's a part of actual Undertale.
I wondered about those two souls as well.
In fact, I think Perseverance would be the 2nd strongest soul trait if Determination is the strongest soul trait.
@@DrawciaGleam02 I actually thought about this a bit. Determination "refuses" death, Perseverance "deters" it. Perseverance Souls will shatter, but the parts won't scatter, held together by the Soul's magic. It's stuck in a catatonic state, where one shift to one end or the other means life or death.
I usually see people distinguish the two traits by saying that Perserverance is adaptive, while Determination is more one-track minded, which I think makes the most sense.
Well, Determination is not a trait in canon anyways.

It _is_ a thing that's separate from Perseverance, it's just that there's no actual canon confirmation (unless you count genocide route save text, which could just be red to be ominous) that it's the red soul's trait, or what the red soul's trait is, so people tend to fit those bits of missing information together.

I have to say, I've never cared about the animation being lazy and low quality in Glitchtale. Because even as a kid, I was always aware that cartoons are usually made by huge teams of professional animators, so it was obvious to me, that we can't expect an animated series made by *one person* to be high quality, and also watching how the creator is making progres was actually super fun to observe. I believe thats why so many people was praising her for the animation, not because it looked this good, but because Camila was making progres and that enough. However I completely agree the storytelling was shit, and there is no excuse for that.

This exactly. There is so much interesting stuff that could be done with glitches but it deviates completely from that idea. Could've called Glitchtale something dumb like Feartale or something if they wanted to relate to the topic.

@@erihtea0719it's called glitchtale because the story couldn't of been possible without them, the story deviates from glitching when Frisk is erased because he's the reason why they're glitching.
After that its up to the characters themselves to iron out the opportunities they've gotten(gaster existing outside the void, monsters gaining physical bodies because of the upper world, and fighting for their rights in almost political setting) so they can lead happy lives.
Ofc Betty comes to destroy that and hate following her death but that's kinda the point; Betty in a nutshell is bug fix that's supposed to course correct the problem through the lense of the game. They make her a efficient bug parch(murder) by allowing her trait to directly change and manipulate the main power system which is emotion. Its also the reason why alphys died, she's not a monster or human, she's basically code. The black beast was a forced creation to justify her existence in a lore centric way

Undyne being insecure with her abilities is valid but seeing her turning into THAT was so weird. Undyne would 100% go rabid and train to be better after what happened. She's literally the one monster who persevered through death just to stop a tiny child in the geno route despite said child whooping her multiple times
In one of the neutral endings if you befriend Undyne and later kill Metaton, which will cause Alphys to "disappear" Undyne will be depressed and unable to do anything

Canonically, Undyne is a lesbian, no? So tell me why as soon as Alphys dies, a random justice guy enters the picture. It's kinda weird how Cami was trying to set up a lesbian with a guy (and before you say she wasn't, literally look at all of their scenes together and tell me how its not obviously interpreted as one party falling for the other). Not to mention, this isn't a one time thing. She erased Frisk and Chara's identity of being non-binary, for what?? "So they dont get sexualised".
SO many things wrong with that statement. For one, it erases Frisk and Charas identities of being part of the LGBTQ+ community (being non binary) which is already off to a bad start, but she goes on about the sexualisation of children as if boys cannot be sexualised?

Frisk literally got replaced/ erased because Cami doesnt know how to write good character arcs, and Chara was relegated to "Asriels Brother"
Mettaton - Trans | (Surprisingly, she didnt erase anything about his identity which is like the only good thing she did)

Betty is an awful villain. She's barely built up as a "twist" villain and proceeds to become such Sue-like character to the point where I genuinely didn't know if her "death" would actually stick.
Honestly out of every single thing Betty noire was a new character and it was just poor execution her actual character is great personality great abilities great powers being the antophis to charas void like hate so it's great unique character just the wrong writer

For me personally, what made me lose interest in Glitchtale (albeit in a "damage-over-time" fashion, keep reading) was when Chara replaced Frisk, while Frisk was utterly ret-gone, leaving Chara's old shoes empty. Animosity wasn't out yet, so I had time to think after seeing the latest episode, and before the episode even released, I decided I was done with the series.
If you're going to have in-universe characters modify the past, you'd better be able to either A, explain the resulting time paradox so that what's left can be ignored, or B, show your audience the consequences of leaving such a massive time paradox unresolved. Glitchtale did neither before I lost interest.
I feel like they were about to acknowledge at least a bit of the issue through Sans waking up after Chara replaces Frisk. However, not only does he refuse to question it further after asking where "the kid" (Frisk) was, but then he's immediately killed off again before he can have any meaningful interaction with Chara to ask about it privately. If there was any missed potential that bugged me the most about Glitchtale, it was that unresolved/unexplained plot point/paradox

It’s so strange. How is Chara alive in the present and simultaneously alive in the time of Asriel? For the locket? How does the plot work? I have an AU where the barrier glitches out and Frisk takes on the appearance of Chara… which changes everything since Flowey obviously recognizes Chara. The whole thing is absurd- if Chara didn’t exist millennia ago there would be no reason to kill the six collected as well.

Purple man kills kids and stuffs their bodies into robot animals. Spirits of said kids come back and possess their robot coffins to kill Purple man. Purple man gets killed but still lives on as a zombiefied Trix the rabbit. Purple Trix the man rabbit survives getting burnt until he was lured into a restaurant along with other damaged robot furries owned by his oldest son who accidentally killed his little brother in a prank back in 1983 and who also "died" in an underground maintenance facility trying to save his little sister who was killed by a "kid-friendly" Joker robot. Undead man, with the help of Purple man's old friend, Old Sport (Henry), traps all the robots and burns everyone to a crisp, setting their souls free while Purple man gets tormented in his personal hell by one of his victims.
And this still is easier to understand than whatever lore Glitchtale has.

As an author, I really want to point out that Glitchtale’s worldbuilding actually DOES have the potential to be good. If you just take away anything that connects it to Undertale and instead use your own ‘controversial pariah’ characters in place of the monsters, you could make some really interesting, deep stories out of it. One thing I want to point out specifically: humans having a modernized or even futuristic magic-centric military to rival the magic of the monsters is an extremely cool concept. In fact, I was inspired by that specific part of Glitchtale while working out my own worldbuilding, and the result is consistently used in several of my works.
I’ve been following Glitchtale since the Newgrounds days, and though I will agree that its success is heavily dependent on the 2015-2017 Undertale fandom nostalgia, I honestly genuinely hope that they decide to go back and rewrite it or something (I mean, hell, maybe I’ll do it once I’ve finished my own thirty seven million book lineup in forty years). I can tell that a lot of passion went into this project, regardless of the quality, and I would genuinely like to see that same passion put into something more unique and understandable (regardless of the scandals - I am a firm believer of separating art from the artist’s controversies, unless there is a direct correlation).
Everyone starts somewhere in the realm of storytelling, and it usually isn’t very great (I still shudder thinking about my earliest story drafts from 6th grade), but you’re never going to get anywhere if you don’t go out of your way to try to get better. Glitchtale as it is should absolutely serve as an example to all up-and-coming authors of what not to do, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. Keep writing, and always look for ways to improve!
I have to agree. With all the bad that came from Season 2, it's hard to notice some great concepts like the integration of magic to the human world and how it advances civilization. It would be cool to create a story based around a similar concept where magic is based around the traits of a person's "Soul".
Im always confused when people act like human magic users are something novel in Undertale when it literally says in the very beginning of the game that the humans sealed monsters undergroung using a magic spell.

well something I want to mention is she IS trying to start a unique one without alot of "look undertale" by making entirely unique monsters.
I took lots of inspiration from the magic system! Turned it into an elemental system with strengths and weaknesses (not all-encompassing ones), gave the traits- ‘affinities’- powers similar to their meanings and the six humans’ powers in Undertale- magic became solely based on intent and on thought patterns… The Underground now contains ~750,000 monsters, in literal giant caverns and with religion and politics. And oh, human politics! Without Glitchtale, would I have gone for wix vs mundane politics? Culture? A high fantasy aesthetic mixed with sci-fi? Absolutely not! I sort of axed the specific weapons for each trait, which are irrational, and the losing trait thing was axed- eh, not my favorite. Inverted traits were nerfed considerably. Also, when characters use magic they go for shields because isn’t Glitchtale’s armor… well, bad? It’s not fully covering, is it? Plus, I think that spheres and arcs make for more stability, plus they make sure one doesn’t experience tripping on something… say, if someone makes the ground become covered in vines or ice.
Also, about that part where she says if you dont read the wiki you will have no clue what is going on, thats also a problem for the other popular undertale animation, underverse. The difference is that underverse is confusing because of its nature of having a lot of aus. While glitchtale has no other aus besides itself, and is still confusing

yeah, the thing about underverse is its going based on the idea the viewer already knows who these characters are, which i think is alright as a form of fanfiction for people who are already familiar with aus and sticks pretty close to the characters original personalities and purposes. glitchtale just starts with the og undertale and kinda throws things at you lmao

As a kid, I kinda was blind to bad writing, bad plot, bad animation because I had no standards. But the thing you said about Betty is way too true, she is supposed to represent fear and use it against who she faces, but every time she supposedly uses this trait to manipulate and defeat her opponents, it's not fear she makes them feel but something closer to guilt or grief. Even a child like me could see this massive inconsistency.

Instead of this being an actual Undertale au, it feels like a Gaster fanfic. He is the character that was most focused on instead of Camilla's OC! We could've had a Betty redemption arc. But nah, Gaster is the character that's focused on 90% of the time. I'm not saying Glitchtale is bad, but the characters are. (Papyrus what has this woman done to your character!? 😭)
While watching the Betty section I just felt REALLY bad for her. Camilla created an OC, gave it a backstory all so Gaster can beat the crap of her. The creator herself clearly hates her creation. In the whole Sans, Gaster and Papyrus fight, Betty uses 3 attacks, and I think this was on purpose because Camilla wanted her OC to die that much. It really is a shame too, because I've always loved Betty.

As a kid, I remember absolutely loving Betty as a character. I was a dumb angsty kid who was always into those “edgy” or “badass” characters, but looking back at it, she was WAYYY too OP. Like seriously. The series went from your average Undertale AU, to a mess of confusing story writing. Half the time as a kid, I didn’t even know what was going on. The human characters, Betty’s entire villain arc, and the whole angst shit between Frisk, Chara, Asriel, etc. All I can really remember was that Betty killed almost every character that crossed her path and was overall just too OP for my liking.

main reason why i couldnt get into it was because there was too much focus on the human ocs. i was a kid with very little standards at the time glitch tale was really popular but the only reason i ever tried to get into it was because it was an undertale fan work. i care about undertale and its characters, not some random ocs i know nothing about.
and its funny because it CAN be done well, although its rare. for example, recently released undertale yellow had really good, genuinely interesting ocs. but that story worked primarily because it was a prequel, focused on monsters and concepts that were already in the original game. so even though almost all the characters were entirely new, the game still felt like undertale.
well the whole point is that she is similar to the red soul in being a "only one at a time" thing. The red soul has the special properties of resetting or rewinding time. With a select few characters being able to remember those timelines that should've existed.
Her whole shtick was "I am literally just the fear of red souls and will do whatever I can to make sure they suffer and die." I mean with the manipulation, murder of friends and other nasties like almost causing asgore to get put on a t-shirt by toriel.
Imma e honest I genuinely didn't understand her abilities. I feel like it would've worked better if the rhabdopobia scene was just turning off all magic in the radius. If I was to fix issues it would be that it doesnt require souls to activate and instead requires "fear" which is why she would go after children, since they're easier to scare. It could've been awesome if she was a fearmongerer who was using manipulation tactics and phobia's to eliminate people. Such as causing alphys to take her own life by setting up some magic effect on her that would cause her alot of terrible things to happen. Look up suicide engineer if you wanna see what I mean, its basically a story of this girl being picked by some demon that causes her to have constant hallucinations at work, at home and etc etc that all make it impossible to live happily. She cant sleep, she gets harrassed constantly, all her friends leave her and more until she eventually takes her life. I couldn't describe it very well but look it up, its pretty good.
Same, I loved her because she was similar to one of my favorite Dragon Ball villains (Goku Black/Zamasu)
Season 2 would've been better if there was no mary sue and we *just* focused on the conflict between humans and monsters living on the surface.

Long story short: She had success in creating a fanfiction with no OC's, that MOSTLY stuck to the series lore, and gave an ending that literally everybody wanted anyway.(S1 Glitchtale) When she got the confidence boost from s1 success, she though of branching out, doing something new, but it turned out she SUCKED at original ideas.

@raptorren806 glitchtale season 1 didn't have anywhere near the notoriety as season 2. At least, that's what I'm basing this off of. Come season 2, there were almost twice as many reactions, views, overall revenue, and a rapid increase of subscribers. Season 2 is what took it from a random flash animation to a true passion project people bought merchandise from imo.
One thing my friend and I frequently criticize Glitchtale for is how Fear is stated to be some bizarre counter to Determination, and how Bravery can't ever beat it. Like seriously, the freaking definition of Bravery is doing something that frightens you. As for it countering Determination, any old human/monster who KNEW about Frisk's insecurities could exploit them, not some half-written Soul Trait that barely even works to begin with.

I actually got to ask Camila on her instagram story Q&A about her character designs to see if she had any old drafts, and her response was that she usually uses the first design she makes

It's seriously weird. Like Undyne can literally suplex rocks and survive 150 ft falls in her base form + has a metal armor but Frisk defeated her 20× stronger version with ballet shoes. Plot armor i guess
Monsters are weak to malice. If you attack them with sadness or anger, they die more easily than if you attack them with apathy. If you attack them with genuine desire for them to die, they die more easily than if you attack them with sadness or anger.
Combine this with save/load, and Frisk has a huge offensive capability combined with the power to never truly lose.

Even while watching and loving this series, I *HATED* how Frisk’s character was assassinated and how he basically died. It was so random too! Like what the hell?!

Okay this street is actually insane.
1. The curb on the left is like a foot high while on the right it’s half a foot,
2. It’s not even really a curb the concrete slabs of the sidewalk are just super thick essentially
3. The corner in the top right is like, angled downwards it seems
4. The road line markings are just crazy, it implies that this is three different one way lanes since the markings don’t allow merging or turning in anyway.
5. No matter what orientation you make the one way roads, the car driving towards Betty has to have broken the law in some way, because either they came from the right going the wrong way and are now going the correct way on the one way or vice versa, but regardless they can’t turn that way because the fucking lines don’t allow it
Roads can be uneven though, this is caused by the pressure cars put on roads, how water interacts with the roads and the ground below it, earthquakes (both large ones and those too small for a human to feel), and more
@@doomclasher9287 This is true, and while that might explain the issue with the angled section in the top right, the idea that random erosion and other natural factors caused the two sides to evenly differ for the entire length of the road is extremely unlikely. If it was like, parts of the sidewalk were higher or raised and lowered like a wave I’d believe it to be more likely.
Also no way the artist thought about natural factors changing sidewalk height and then forgot how road markings work completely

Here’s an idea: I really feel like Camila could’ve THRIVED if she just animated fights. Undyne vs Gaster, Sans vs Papyrus, Asgore vs Toriel, whatever she wanted. No need for plot, or detailed backgrounds. Just epic fights in the void. I feel like that would suit her better.

Honestly, I think Glitchtale would've worked better as a chill, slice of life type of show with the earlier style. I dunno, the chibi designs of the characters back then were kinda adorable, so it clashed with when stuff got dark or gorey.
If the series was a comedy that focused more on the characters themselves and their dynamics with each other, rather than an action packed series that constantly needed to up the stakes and kill off characters, it probably wouldn't have been so meh after the start of season 2. After that point, it felt like Glitchtale constantly tripped over itself whenever it tried to bring in more character drama and fight scenes after each Episode.

Or start second season as slice of life and then go for action, Animated kid shows do thi kind of things, they use a season the stablish and the next one for plot

I'd like to add some additional notes to the character design section because I honestly feel like they weren't ragged on enough. Pretty much all the characters have the exact same silhouette, body structure, and anatomy, including the main cast from Undertale! A good example of this anatomy assassination in action is Alphys and Papyrus. In the original game, Alphys is depicted as having a slight slouch and triangular head, giving a very reptilian appearance. Papyrus, meanwhile, has very skinny limbs and a small torso (covered by his battle body,) there's a little of circles, lines, and curves with Papyrus with little to no corners, which fits for character. Yet in glitchtale, all this is completely thrown out the window in favor of more humanoid anatomy, and it looks so wrong. Gaster might just have the worst redesign out of all of them. He looks more like a pale human than a skeleton! And before any of you say in the replies, "Oh, it's just an art style choice,” it's for the best to keep the characters' anatomy consistent if you're trying to be accurate to the source material! Which Glitchtale tried to do in absolute failure. Pair this with all of the other mistakes and flaws in Camilla artstyle, and now those statements aren't even an argument anymore. Don't even get me started on the inconsistencies with the base game lore, like the fact that determination isn't even a specific soul trait! But this comment is long enough, and you already go into many more reasons why this series is garbage.
Honestly, I’ve been wanting to look back at Glitchtale with a critical lens ever since the drama with Camila came out. I wanna see for myself if the show was really all that good now the rose tinted glasses of being excited to see an animated series about my special interest are gone

Something that bothers me a lot about Camila is her obsession with her obvious Chara recolor named Betty. Like dude, are you going to tell me that your 100% original character is that powerful? why? Undertale already has an established canon, you can't come and put your ideas out of nowhere just to give it a reason why your original character is more powerful than the characters already present.
The fact that Camilla’s backgrounds ad perspective are so broken despite her history of tracing is wild to me. Like, tracing photos of real life objects is a very valid method of practice and study.

@@crumpscrumbs tracing is a really good learning tool, but one that should be used sparingly. imo, it's okay if you trace real things/body parts while drawing if it helps you get better at drawing that thing. the problem comes when you trace art that isn't yours yet claim that you drew it or even worse, monetize it. tracing helped me draw some things like shoes and similar, so I would recommend.

I may not be an artist but i think a better way of showing an old skeleton would be their bones having a tinge of yellow. Mainly because bones when exposed to air (if I'm not mistaken) grow yellow over time.

@@ilhandaanish2381 IKR, and another thing, the whole Dreemur family, mostly Asriel and Asgore, all look off, their hair being more like toupee than anything, and Papyrus in his shirt isn't good at all, heck not even his battle body is drawn right. The final battle between the bones and Betty I barely managed to sit through, as well as most of the fights in season two besides Undyne vs Betty(the first one)

Betty is an awful character, but one thing I can give Camila credit for is some of her visceral expressions. They’re absolutely incredible, and if only that energy was directed toward a better written series
i remember she made a video responding to comments saying she had to revive sans and said that it was her series and she wasn't going to let fans control it, some time later sans was revived in a bullshit way and when she was called out for it she responded by saying she did it because the fans were asking so much. I just found that really funny as a kid

You know, looking back, the art for this series was WAY worse than I remember, all it had going for it was that beginning sans fight, and even then, it was leaning hard into every stereotype invented by the fandom. (Frisk being a little baby that needs sans to help them despite being fully capable of wiping out the underground, chara possessing them to do flips and shit to avoid attacks, sans remembering resets instead of just being really good at reading faces)

She's not lol, she has no concept of anatomy, no grasp of color theory, lighting or composition, the only thing she can do is copy what she saw in anime poorly. She may be good in animating but she's lacking a lot in.. everything else. I really think (one of the many) fundamental problem(s) is as follows:
Undertale is a story that really *only* works as a video game. When you take characters like Flowey and Sans (let alone Chara), who were *heavily* tied to the game’s meta-commentary and put them into a combat-centered animation series, they just don’t work.
Let’s just focus on Flowey: in the game, Flowey was, in large part, a commentary on the nature of being a “player” in a video game, and how experiencing that game over and over eventually leads to a near-total loss of investment.
Placed in another medium, he’s… a sadistic, time-traveling flower whose primary contribution to the story is being a convenient visual metaphor.
I hope my point is clear. This was a bad premise for a story from the very beginning.
How to fix this: constant allusions to "someone watching", and how everything that's happening is because "someone" finds it entertaining. Wrap it back around to the "Player" and turn them into "Watcher", who's ravenous thirst for action is fueling the terrible occurrences within the universe, with the only people able to see the Watcher being Sans, Flowey, Chara, and possibly Betty because her actions are influenced by the Watcher's own emotions.

I mean, underverse takes that concept and adapts it to a series really well. Instead of being a game about being a game, its a show about making/manipulating alternative universes, just like the ones the fandom did. It takes the meta concept of the game and adapts it to the whole fandom that formed around it, which is pretty genius imo.

So yeah, it’s not impossible to do well, but it is extremely difficult. You will notice, after all, that the main characters of Underverse are either original to the story (X-Tale), or otherwise separate from the original game (Ink & Error).
As a writer myself, I never want to believe a premise is inherently flawed, as I'd like to believe any story could work given the right care.
Then again... that kind of implies Undertale could only work as a video game, since in that context "video game" could be seen as the "right care".

When I was a kid, Camila used to really piss me off with the fact that she had this really neat (as it looked to me at the time) and fancyass coloring style, but she put zero skill points into her anatomy, and especially hands in her drawings absolutely sucked. And I felt like I was going insane bc everyone was praising her and stuff, but to me the drawings looked so bad for that very reason
THISSS!! I could never watch glitchtale because I could not STAND the shitty anatomy and ugly animations, but I'm glad to learn that I wasn't the only person who thought that way about it. Maybe this is just a me thing, but I seriously can't enjoy a show with an art style I don't really like, no matter how popular it is. (Think Dragon Ball, Naruto, Avatar, etc. - all super popular, but have an old-ass art style and bald main characters) If the art had been better, I probably wouldn't have even been aware of the awful plot until I was older, or until the evidence was dropped directly in my lap- but even looking at the THUMBNAILS for glitchtale has me full-body cringing.
Come to think of it maybe it wasn't a good idea to *try* improve at art using Cami's art as a main reference

Camila has said before that she doesn't really like Toriel or Alphys in Undertale and it's soo blatant in this series. Kills Alphys to make Undyne more angsty. Has characters like Frisk, Gaster, and Asgore be throw shade at Toriel for mistakes in her past, and she never has anything to say back, she just takes it. How most characters in this series were treated annoyed me but Toriel and Alphys in particular irked me.

Not like other characters had it much better, but it felt like they were given more of a pass for their actions than these 2, so it really felt like what happened to Alphys/ how Toriel was treated was very much based on Camila's negative opinion of them. Though this is just MY opinion so feel free to disagree :)

There’s no way in hell Asgore would ever _throw shade_ at anyone, let alone at Toriel. His personality is way too meek for that.
Eh Characters standing up for Asgore and pointing out Toriel's own shit rather than just letting her wail on Asgore is one of the few things I still like about glitchtale. Granted, Toriel should've been given the opportunity to defend herself.
What she did with Alphys though was just all kinds of wack
Tbf though, about the set design, Camila did do a lot of stickfight animations before and they almost always contained just plain backgrounds so that the fight scenes could really take place, but I will admit though that there have been amazing stickfight animators who incorporated some set designs in their fights so Camila was probably just lazy or too focused in making the fights look good.
