Edit 2: For all you people coming here to tell me it’s not fair to go this hard on an indie creator, your innocent little Camila was tearing down and laughing other people’s work for as long as she was writing this series. And no I am not going to go easy on the child predator enabler. Edit: I keep seeing comments about this so I’m putting it here. I’m not misgendering Chara/Frisk on purpose. Camila wrote them as males instead of non binary and that’s the only reason why I refer to them as he/him. Every time you guys think I've finally died for good I'll come back to prove you wrong
it makes me sad how many people in the comments are calling themselves stupid for liking glitchtale. 90% of you were, like, 7. and even if you weren't, _you're still allowed to like objectively bad things._ let yourselves have fun! that's what fiction is for!
I still like glitchtale even after watching this video, I even read a fanfic once that centers around Alina, and I think it could have been a bit better looking back at it, but I think it's still good.
Honestly I'm a person who likes Betty noire and was the only character I liked besides chara and frisk was borning I wanted frisk to full on be chara for a bit and not going full out at the start
Hello, leader of the fandom wiki here. If I were to told you I understood the lore myself, I'd be lying. It's really hard to keep up with Camila to be honest with the amount of plot holes and stuff.
@@DrawciaGleam02 Right now, it's more of a hibernation since I have big exams approaching but it's really nothing too much to be worried about :p If GT was as popular as it was a few years ago, it would be a nightmare but right now it really is just a laidback kind of thing.
Maybe im the only one but I like plotholes in all lores to make my own thoeries, the only exceptions are when the plotholes does not make fucking sense
Hey, lay off on Camila's background design, that's ME you're insulting. Camila hired me to give her access to all of the cities I built in Xbox 360 minecraft superflat worlds when I was 12.
I feel like Betty should've kept up the manipulative schemer thing she had at the start, turning humanity against the monsters by amplifying their fear of them. Personally, not a fan of the giant pink blob
This would’ve been way more fun and cool. Maybe she could still have her killing or whatever, with her kind of killing off characters as the series goes on (especially with her little spear thing which makes it easier) So like having mystery whilst still keeping suspense

@@Ebh55. Yes, as it's really poor character design. In a modern setting, most women aren't going to be wearing ankle length dresses. In, say, a medieval style setting you can definitely get away with it, but the dresses would need to look medieval style otherwise it's bad character design. I understand that in a one person animation you'll want to simplify your work load as much as possible, but you can still keep it fairly simple by just making 3-4 'base outfits' that you stick on characters at random (eg. long dress, trousers plus t-shirt, trousers plus hoodie, and t-shirt plus mid length skirt (for the guys switch out dress with trousers plu shirt, and the skirt one with t-shirt plus shorts)). There, a simple way to give a much needed boost of variety to your background characters without notably increasing your workload. Like, as an animator myself I find the lack of effort to be really bad.
@@Ebh55.From character designs standpoint it's bad. For example, even in winx club, where most of the characters wear only short skirts and tops and it's kind of a "style" of the show, there still are characters who wear pants, long skirts, shorts, sweathers, etc. It gives a variety in designs and helps to make them distinct and unique despite literally being the same copypasted model. In camila's case.. it's kinda plain. Colored sweather+pants or skirt describes almost every characters in this show. It's plain and boring..
So I'm actually the VA for Alphys and Isabelle in Glitchtale and yeah, I can't really argue with you. I got the part through Strelok and worked exclusively with him. I tried watching it but I kind of just... didn't really get it. I mean it was really cool seeing my voice in a project this big and it'll always be an amazing experience but I've been out of the hellscape that is the Undertale fandom (and haven't spoken to/heard from anyone involved in the inner Glitchtale crew) for about 5 years now so I'm only just hearing about all the insanity that's going on with Camila. The sound/VA parts of it were kept very separate and I only spoke to Camila maybe once or twice in total around the time the first Alphys episode aired. Kind of an amazing experience and I'll always be glad I got to be part of a project this big, but I'd be lying if I said I actually liked it or kept up with it. And with everything that's been going down, I'm more glad than ever that I kept my distance. If you're still in the Undertale fandom after all this time, you are far braver than I will ever be.
Honestly, I think Glitchtale would've worked better as a chill, slice of life type of show with the earlier style. I dunno, the chibi designs of the characters back then were kinda adorable, so it clashed with when stuff got dark or gorey. If the series was a comedy that focused more on the characters themselves and their dynamics with each other, rather than an action packed series that constantly needed to up the stakes and kill off characters, it probably wouldn't have been so meh after the start of season 2. After that point, it felt like Glitchtale constantly tripped over itself whenever it tried to bring in more character drama and fight scenes after each Episode.
Or start second season as slice of life and then go for action, Animated kid shows do thi kind of things, they use a season the stablish and the next one for plot
Well one the one thing was chara vs Betty norie ecect they didn't technically kill eachother but Betty noire death wasn't her death her death move spawex that creature out of jojos bizarre adventure part 5 golden wind
Right? I remember when Sans first died and people were discussing how he might come back in the story later, Camila pretty triumphantly said how death is death and you can only move forward. Guess what happens.

Hi, former glitchtale fan here I actually got to ask Camila on her instagram story Q&A about her character designs to see if she had any old drafts, and her response was that she usually uses the first design she makes
Sounds like she really needs to hire someone to make the character designs for her 😭 That's why I started to redesign some of her ocs. I'm not sure if I'll be showing them on my channel though.
@@AlphaHaze tbh i want to see the redesigns. Rn im struggling to make one for Betty since my objective is to make something cute while also feeling that something is REALLY wrong
Her character design is all-around outrageous. Her oc's look like it was designed by a 12-year-old who uses Devianart. Heck, It's even an offense to those poor 12-year-old kids: they might be able to come up with something so much better. Other people can come up with way better designs on their first drafts.

As a kid, I kinda was blind to bad writing, bad plot, bad animation because I had no standards. But the thing you said about Betty is way too true, she is supposed to represent fear and use it against who she faces, but every time she supposedly uses this trait to manipulate and defeat her opponents, it's not fear she makes them feel but something closer to guilt or grief. Even a child like me could see this massive inconsistency.
@@RoundusMongus to be fair played right and needles and scythes can be GREAT representations of fear. It just isn't because Bete has not once in the series tried to inspire fear
I thought the grief was more a representation of fearing yourself. Like Frisk fearing that he will do something like the genocide again but it's been a long time since i've ever watched glitchtale so i don't remember correctly

@@iaminsideyourwalls2021 It’s a LONG LONG story but lemme summarize as best as I can. So basically Camilla has beef with Hopeless Peaches because during an art collab there was a misunderstanding and Camilla sold the collab art without Peaches’ permission. Hopeless Peaches confronted Camilla about this (both publicly and privately), and they seemed to forgive each other in private at the time. But Camilla constantly used it against her, like when Peaches was being dogpiled on a couple years ago. Whenever Peaches got into drama, Camilla always brought it up as a negative against Hopeless Peaches. There are entire videos documenting this and the peaches drama connects to multiple other dramas so I recommend watching those for the full breakdown. Edit: I did get the roles switched up at first, this is the correct version of events.
Betty is an awful character, but one thing I can give Camila credit for is some of her visceral expressions. They’re absolutely incredible, and if only that energy was directed toward a better written series
Long story short: She had success in creating a fanfiction with no OC's, that MOSTLY stuck to the series lore, and gave an ending that literally everybody wanted anyway.(S1 Glitchtale) When she got the confidence boost from s1 success, she though of branching out, doing something new, but it turned out she SUCKED at original ideas.
Becauuuseee when you specialise in fight scenes you maybe should either stick to the fight scenes, or if you want to try to add original writting into it so bad, you shouldn't bite more than you can fit in your homgry mouth, make a story that is clearly too complicated and grand for you to handle, and actually try not telling people how original and cool you are...
@raptorren806 glitchtale season 1 didn't have anywhere near the notoriety as season 2. At least, that's what I'm basing this off of. Come season 2, there were almost twice as many reactions, views, overall revenue, and a rapid increase of subscribers. Season 2 is what took it from a random flash animation to a true passion project people bought merchandise from imo.
let's be honest, I think one of the main reason glitchtale was so popular is because of the cool fights. I watched all that was out back when I was a teen, and I couldn't remember anything about the plot
The fact even Nyx called Glitchtale Bad and Boring tells you everything about this series, when someone who worked on it dislikes it, you know it's really that bad
Honestly, I’ve been wanting to look back at Glitchtale with a critical lens ever since the drama with Camila came out. I wanna see for myself if the show was really all that good now the rose tinted glasses of being excited to see an animated series about my special interest are gone

Undyne being insecure with her abilities is valid but seeing her turning into THAT was so weird. Undyne would 100% go rabid and train to be better after what happened. She's literally the one monster who persevered through death just to stop a tiny child in the geno route despite said child whooping her multiple times
In one of the neutral endings if you befriend Undyne and later kill Metaton, which will cause Alphys to "disappear" Undyne will be depressed and unable to do anything
@@Adul11100This is only if you befriend Undyne though, as she feels betrayed by the player. Betty is NOT undynes friend. If anything, she wouldve been the FIRST person out in the field. Also one thing that irks me about glitchtale undyne is that Canonically, Undyne is a lesbian, no? So tell me why as soon as Alphys dies, a random justice guy enters the picture. It's kinda weird how Cami was trying to set up a lesbian with a guy (and before you say she wasn't, literally look at all of their scenes together and tell me how its not obviously interpreted as one party falling for the other). Not to mention, this isn't a one time thing. She erased Frisk and Chara's identity of being non-binary, for what?? "So they dont get sexualised". SO many things wrong with that statement. For one, it erases Frisk and Charas identities of being part of the LGBTQ+ community (being non binary) which is already off to a bad start, but she goes on about the sexualisation of children as if boys cannot be sexualised? I'm just saying it doesnt feel like a coincidence when the "in your face" lgbt is at the wayside or just erased Alphys and Undyne - Lesbians | Alphys dies and Undyne is set up with a guy Alphys is only used twice, and thats to die and be undynes plot armour Frisk and Chara - Nonbinary | Sudden retcon to having he/him pronouns Frisk literally got replaced/ erased because Cami doesnt know how to write good character arcs, and Chara was relegated to "Asriels Brother" Mettaton - Trans | (Surprisingly, she didnt erase anything about his identity which is like the only good thing she did) Mettaton appears around 3 times in the series, once as a VERY minor cameo in early season 2, another in the battle against betty (which was admittedly very underwhelming) and lastly in the epilogue. Sorry for the rant but it irks me how Cami clearly doesnt know how to write good characters AT ALL
@@SteveCrafts2kiirc at the very least he fits as an allegory for one. from what I remember it was that he used to be a ghost like the lil funky crying ghost guy, but he never felt right with ghost body or something? but then when he got mettaton'd ge didn't feel that way.
If anyone wants a refresher, here’s how souls work in canon: Red: does nothing, implied to have resurrective capabilities. Light blue: also not incredibly useful, light blue attacks don’t hurt if you stay still. Blue: gravity. Green: can’t move, the only time we use a green soul is when Undyne gives us a spear to protect ourselves. Green attacks heal. Purple: bound; can only move left or right, and switch roads. Yellow: gun. Yellow attacks can be switched on or off by a yellow soul. Orange: does nothing, orange attacks force you to move. So purple attacks should be able to bind. Blue attacks could be magnetic. But apparently, they’re just blades, because I don’t know. Blue doesn’t even make sense; why is it a long sword? Why not something bouncy, since jumping is one of blue’s big things? And hey, since purple is perseverance, maybe it could create armor? Or some kind of mobile shield? Whyyy is pink fear? Why is fear evil? Perhaps it could have to do with cowardice and prejudice, but then why is Betty always fighting things herself? And what the hell is up with HATE? That’s not even a trait, everyone hates something, like how I hate this headache I’m giving myself.
Also apparently the skeletons who fight with bones and have exposed ribs and pelvises and are always showing their teeth have skin and mouths. PAPYRUS OPENS HIS TEETH LIKE LIPS, REVEALING MORE FUCKING TEETH. YOU CAN HAVE A CHARACTER EMOTE WITHOUT FACIAL FEATURES, I SWEAR. And let’s not talk about how often Camilla forgets the very principles of animation. Squash and stretch? Pose to pose? EXAGGERATION? WHAT ARE THOSE? No, animation is just moving characters a bit so that they slightly resemble living people, there’s no such thing as studying other works and reading what professionals have to say.
So i have the explanation for pink being fear Its because its the "opposite of bravery" which would be fear. IIRC pink is maybe(?) on the opposite side of the color wheel to orange? I dont remember. And i am not looking it up. Im to lazy To sum up. Uhhh Forbidden spell makes soul "invert". The inverse or opposite of bravery or courage is fear or cowardice. As for why fear is evil. I dont know. But it made some cool fight scenes and i got some damn cool characters out of it. Fuck yeah
Honestly, we don’t even know what the red trait is, other than the fact that every red soul we’ve encountered is a being that is possessed by us, and the abilities it shows in Deltarune evoke freedom or control, or maybe even Hope. Honestly, people forget that determination is yellow.
@@jacksonvoet8312I think that red has to do something with resets and timelines. (based on undertale yellow, so of course not canon, but....) Frisk at lv 1 was already able to take over the timeline from Flowey. Clover couldnt do that till lv 20. Frisk at lv 20 deleted the entire timeline (well Chara, but whatever)
It's seriously weird. Like Undyne can literally suplex rocks and survive 150 ft falls in her base form + has a metal armor but Frisk defeated her 20× stronger version with ballet shoes. Plot armor i guess
Monsters are weak to malice. If you attack them with sadness or anger, they die more easily than if you attack them with apathy. If you attack them with genuine desire for them to die, they die more easily than if you attack them with sadness or anger. I kinda love how Camila made Betty, her super overpowered and not at all generic OC, into the face of the show and channel as a whole, and then Camila herself ended up a villain
The fact that Camilla’s backgrounds ad perspective are so broken despite her history of tracing is wild to me. Like, tracing photos of real life objects is a very valid method of practice and study.
she was too lazy to trace for backgrounds tracing still requires a modicum of effort and time, just a lot less time, research, trial and error. besides, she didn't trace real life objects. she traced other work. there's a difference.
@@crumpscrumbs tracing is a really good learning tool, but one that should be used sparingly. imo, it's okay if you trace real things/body parts while drawing if it helps you get better at drawing that thing. the problem comes when you trace art that isn't yours yet claim that you drew it or even worse, monetize it. tracing helped me draw some things like shoes and similar, so I would recommend.
remember when she made a video making fun of people who said sans and chara would come back, and would help kill betty, only for that to LITERALLY HAPPEN..
Also, about that part where she says if you dont read the wiki you will have no clue what is going on, thats also a problem for the other popular undertale animation, underverse. The difference is that underverse is confusing because of its nature of having a lot of aus. While glitchtale has no other aus besides itself, and is still confusing
yeah, the thing about underverse is its going based on the idea the viewer already knows who these characters are, which i think is alright as a form of fanfiction for people who are already familiar with aus and sticks pretty close to the characters original personalities and purposes. glitchtale just starts with the og undertale and kinda throws things at you lmao
1:09:08 admittedly, undyne DOES go through depression in undertale, during a neutral route, where you kill mettaton, alphys is implied to take their life, and undyne is depressed, and loses the will to do anything and sleeps on papyrus’s couch. I don’t think camila knew that route when doing this depression arc, but I AM saying this has precedence.
"Wait, isn't Perseverance just Determination?" Can't fault Camila for those two being considered separate SOUL traits. That one's a part of actual Undertale.
I wondered about those two souls as well. In fact, I think Perseverance would be the 2nd strongest soul trait if Determination is the strongest soul trait.
@@DrawciaGleam02 I actually thought about this a bit. Determination "refuses" death, Perseverance "deters" it. Perseverance Souls will shatter, but the parts won't scatter, held together by the Soul's magic. It's stuck in a catatonic state, where one shift to one end or the other means life or death.
I usually see people distinguish the two traits by saying that Perserverance is adaptive, while Determination is more one-track minded, which I think makes the most sense.
@@sheogorath6834 It _is_ a thing that's separate from Perseverance, it's just that there's no actual canon confirmation (unless you count genocide route save text, which could just be red to be ominous) that it's the red soul's trait, or what the red soul's trait is, so people tend to fit those bits of missing information together.

This exactly. There is so much interesting stuff that could be done with glitches but it deviates completely from that idea. Could've called Glitchtale something dumb like Feartale or something if they wanted to relate to the topic.
@@erihtea0719it's called glitchtale because the story couldn't of been possible without them, the story deviates from glitching when Frisk is erased because he's the reason why they're glitching. After that its up to the characters themselves to iron out the opportunities they've gotten(gaster existing outside the void, monsters gaining physical bodies because of the upper world, and fighting for their rights in almost political setting) so they can lead happy lives. Ofc Betty comes to destroy that and hate following her death but that's kinda the point; Betty in a nutshell is bug fix that's supposed to course correct the problem through the lense of the game. They make her a efficient bug parch(murder) by allowing her trait to directly change and manipulate the main power system which is emotion. Its also the reason why alphys died, she's not a monster or human, she's basically code. The black beast was a forced creation to justify her existence in a lore centric way
34:20 Okay this street is actually insane. 1. The curb on the left is like a foot high while on the right it’s half a foot, 2. It’s not even really a curb the concrete slabs of the sidewalk are just super thick essentially 3. The corner in the top right is like, angled downwards it seems 4. The road line markings are just crazy, it implies that this is three different one way lanes since the markings don’t allow merging or turning in anyway. 5. No matter what orientation you make the one way roads, the car driving towards Betty has to have broken the law in some way, because either they came from the right going the wrong way and are now going the correct way on the one way or vice versa, but regardless they can’t turn that way because the fucking lines don’t allow it
Roads can be uneven though, this is caused by the pressure cars put on roads, how water interacts with the roads and the ground below it, earthquakes (both large ones and those too small for a human to feel), and more
@@doomclasher9287 This is true, and while that might explain the issue with the angled section in the top right, the idea that random erosion and other natural factors caused the two sides to evenly differ for the entire length of the road is extremely unlikely. If it was like, parts of the sidewalk were higher or raised and lowered like a wave I’d believe it to be more likely. Betty is an awful villain. She's barely built up as a "twist" villain and proceeds to become such Sue-like character to the point where I genuinely didn't know if her "death" would actually stick.
Honestly out of every single thing Betty noire was a new character and it was just poor execution her actual character is great personality great abilities great powers being the antophis to charas void like hate so it's great unique character just the wrong writer
she genuinely feels like a character i wouldve come up with when i was eleven. yknow, like that type of character kids come up with that cant die no matter what and is actually an "angel demon hybrid werewolf vampire"

Moral nuance is challenging to write for, but like- if you can't think of a way to authentically make a character who's a bad person become a better person over the course of the story, then either keep them as a bad person or don't include them at all. It's honestly that simple and she couldn't even do that.@@jasperjazzie
Glitchtale isn’t objectively bad, it just went off the undertale aspect and became a self written story with some undertale characters that more or less got written off with a ending that makes Disney look like a well written story … Ok, maybe it is objectively bad…
I may not be an artist but i think a better way of showing an old skeleton would be their bones having a tinge of yellow. Mainly because bones when exposed to air (if I'm not mistaken) grow yellow over time.
You know, looking back, the art for this series was WAY worse than I remember, all it had going for it was that beginning sans fight, and even then, it was leaning hard into every stereotype invented by the fandom. (Frisk being a little baby that needs sans to help them despite being fully capable of wiping out the underground, chara possessing them to do flips and shit to avoid attacks, sans remembering resets instead of just being really good at reading faces)
12 minutes in, and I'm surprised you haven't talked about how Frisk manages to now speak complete, full sentences instead of "You tell Jessica..." and "You tell Sans..."
I remember starting a huge drama against myself and Camilla Cuevas around 3-5 years ago. I was a huge fan of Glitchtale and Underverse, and I watched all sorts of content from the series and the shorts any chance I'd get. This drama sparked around the time when creators made a reanimation for a particular song from Glitchtale (idk which one it was, the slowed megalovania one or etc) and a small creator had made a side by side comparison of both animations citing it as Original vs Other creator style. The video gained a lot of popularity and earned that small creator a lot of views. Camilla was upset by this (this is how I interpreted it at the time). She asked the creator in a nice way to "please delete this video. im going to make a video similar to this one and i would appreciate it if you deleted your video so I can post mine. thank you!" which imo was just fucking unreasonable as hell. I called her bs out and replied to her comment criticizing her for being so selfish, and this started a long online argument war against me vs camilla and her fans. Eventually, it got to the point where I criticized the season 2 of Glitchtale and how awful it was compared to Jael Paneloza's work (I still feel guilty abt this, that was very low of me) on Underverse. This eventually lead to Jael making a statement about the entire situation and me getting really embarrassed and ashamed of myself that I went quiet after. The creator deleted their video and I moved on with my life and avoided everything Undertale related cus of guilt and fear. Her fans had attacked my freshly growing channel and made fun of my Gacha videos, prompting me to delete each and every single one, changing my name, changing my dp name, and avoiding UA-cam for a while. It's been years, I still feel guilty and embarrassed for doing that to a creator I once loved, but then I met a friend who was a popular creator and the topic got to Camilla Cuevas. She explained how awful Camilla was and was almost cancelled all the time. This made me remember what happened years ago and now I searched up her name to find stuff like this. I feel less guilty, and I hope that small creator gets the justice they deserved.
Glitchtale Villains be like: The virgin Betty - Mary Sue - Inconsistent af - kills sans for only shock value and kills alphys so that undyne can be straight for an oc - Literally just "teehee cute girl that's actually evil >:3" which is fucking stupid - Had small moments of good just to still be a bitch - Not even the true antagonist - Was literally born because Agate was a petty racist bitch Vs The Chad Chara - Actually has more dimension and a good backstory - Not a mary sue while still being very powerful - An actual tragic villain when you realize that Chara was forced to watch Frisk reset and kill, taking in the hatred of everyone they knew and loved along with their own hatred until they went coo coo for cocoa puffs and almost completely lost themselves. - Redeemed themselves in the end which is actually pretty heartwarming and gives their brother a second chance at life before meeting their own end.
Glitchtale had been my hyperfixation for almost 5 years. 5 YEARS, and I’m still learning new things about how convoluted this series lore is. Jesus Christ.
34:35 Holy shit, the fact that I took a COMPLETE shot in the dark here by saying "It's Gaster's house" despite the very first clue pointing to it being Asgore's and then it ACTUALLY ended up being Gaster's house is absolutely fcking wild to me, you know that your story and writing is shallow af when I, as a person who has basically 0 prior knowledge of this series is able to guess a random character's house after an approximate 15 minute synopsis 😭
I really think (one of the many) fundamental problem(s) is as follows: Undertale is a story that really *only* works as a video game. When you take characters like Flowey and Sans (let alone Chara), who were *heavily* tied to the game’s meta-commentary and put them into a combat-centered animation series, they just don’t work. Let’s just focus on Flowey: in the game, Flowey was, in large part, a commentary on the nature of being a “player” in a video game, and how experiencing that game over and over eventually leads to a near-total loss of investment. Placed in another medium, he’s… a sadistic, time-traveling flower whose primary contribution to the story is being a convenient visual metaphor. I hope my point is clear. This was a bad premise for a story from the very beginning.
How to fix this: constant allusions to "someone watching", and how everything that's happening is because "someone" finds it entertaining. Wrap it back around to the "Player" and turn them into "Watcher", who's ravenous thirst for action is fueling the terrible occurrences within the universe, with the only people able to see the Watcher being Sans, Flowey, Chara, and possibly Betty because her actions are influenced by the Watcher's own emotions.
@@KaihighOG and the best part, taking consideration that it all started by people asking for the animations to have a continuation, it would fit perfectly with glitchtale if it had that included
I mean, underverse takes that concept and adapts it to a series really well. Instead of being a game about being a game, its a show about making/manipulating alternative universes, just like the ones the fandom did. It takes the meta concept of the game and adapts it to the whole fandom that formed around it, which is pretty genius imo.
@@rodrigonogueira9375 Yes, I would agree. Underverse also made a good decision in having a new main antagonist who was highly relevant to its new themes. So yeah, it’s not impossible to do well, but it is extremely difficult. You will notice, after all, that the main characters of Underverse are either original to the story (X-Tale), or otherwise separate from the original game (Ink & Error).
As a writer myself, I never want to believe a premise is inherently flawed, as I'd like to believe any story could work given the right care. Then again... that kind of implies Undertale could only work as a video game, since in that context "video game" could be seen as the "right care". Wow... I have to think about this a little...
Season 2 would've been better if there was no mary sue and we *just* focused on the conflict between humans and monsters living on the surface. Edit: Holy magikarp over halfway to 1k likes. That's some insanity.

anyone else thought it was funny how this series’s was consistently referred to as an alternate timeline instead of an alternate universe, like this was something that could occur within the confines of undertale canon???
It's just that Fan mentality of "Nah, this thing could TOTALLY happen!" Even tho It goes agains't everything taught about the game/series up to that point
In retrospect, the most absurd thing about the pink Soul is the fact that the color is supposed to be representative of the Soul's trait. Like Betty should be a cowardly lion, but instead she's able to tap into other people's fears? That doesn't add up. The Kindness Soul, for example, doesn't make others kind; the Soul itself is kind and therefore the _carrier_ is kind. So why is the Fear Soul different? (Of course the answer is obvious: Fuck me for wanting to know)
A possible answer could be that the souls trait rubs off on people. Like if you hang out with people with kindness souls there kindness could make you also be kind to others if that makes sense? Though if that was the case it’d be nice to have that told
I don't think it's a case of Betty not having fear, I think it's more of a case of Betty not showing it. Because if you're afraid and as arrogant as Agate likely is, you would not want to show any fear, as you wouldn't want to be seen as weak. This causes them to harm and scare others, quite a bit like a bully works. As for what she's afraid of, it could be quite a few things. If Betty is Agate, then she could be afraid of not being in control, which is pretty much the entire reason why Agate inverts her trait in the first place (She was not in control of the state of the barrier). She could also be afraid of Frisk/Chara, since they remind her of Copper, someone who was able to beat her. Also, if Betty is Amber, then she would likely be very afraid as she is traumatized when her own sister whom she trusted murdered her in cold blood. But she wouldn't show that because their fear has transformed them. This is similar to what happened to Flowey, as he couldn't feel emotions, perhaps because he was soulless, but also because he has all the trauma he experienced as Asriel, on top of the trauma of the 6 humans (that's where the determination injected into him came from). But hey, that's just a theory. I probably put more thought into that than Camila actually did. Thank you for bothering to read this, anyone that actually does.
1:09:04 not defending it, it WAS poorly executed, but have you SEEN one of the neutral endings where Alphys dies/disappears? Papyrus says Undyne is absolutely soul crushed from it, not even having the energy to take revenge on the human, as she states that "revenge won't bring anyone back." This is something canon to the game (i think you get it by only killing Mettaton) Edit: Correction: You get it by only killing Mettaton AFTER befriending Undyne.
Yeah a lot of neutral endings aren’t known to everyone because There are a lot My favorite is when Mettaton takes his ability of ignoring problems he does when you pull up with his house key to the nth degree, becomes a dictator that forces everyone to be happy and love his brand, and just makes anyone who speaks out against his forced vibe disappear via probably executing them offscreen out of the public eye proving that Mettaton is actually the worst leader possible
@@beywheelzhater8930 My favorite ones are the ones where Undyne becomes the empress of the undergroung, simply because there's so many cool things you could do with that premise
@@crimson19 No, Horrortale is a continuation of an Undyne neutral run, specifically the run where Toriel becomes Queen and Undyne overthrows her which is achieved by killing 10 monsters and sparing all the bosses. If you haven’t checked out the AU before, it explores the idea of the core itself shutting down and the underground falling to a famine that Undyne and Alphys can’t fix. Oddly, despite the canon neutral route featuring Sans and Papyrus living with Toriel, here they still live in snowdin with Sans joining with Alphys to try and fix the core… this doesn’t work. Eventually, Alphys desperation and Undyne’s determination leads them to use the only thing they can theorize would start back up the core and save their people: Sans’s eye. This works… until Sans somehow un-dies through yet un revealed means and ratios the entire core along with a good chunk of the royal guard and Alphys. It is definitely not exactly what one may want if they are just hoping for a neutral route, but you do see more of the warped, grief filled aggression Undyne showcased when she overthrew Toriel or when she militarized the entire underground in her own ending as she goes full tyrant.
I really loved Glitchtale as a kid. Doesn’t hold up as much looking back on it but it still holds a special place with me. I will say one thing that always pissed me off was how Camilla killed off Sans, spent all this time trying to revive him, only to kill him again completely pointlessly.
As much as I dislike unnecessary plot armor, bringing back Sans just to kill him off immediately was not executed well plotwise. Well, as much as Glitchtale's plot went

My biggest pet peeve with Glitchtale has always been the side profiles. Holy shit, why are they so incredibly ugly, some frames of the show look incredible until a character looks to the side and suddenly have the ugliest face- I'm just puzzled, obviously she is a good and experienced artist, how can she not be able to draw okay looking side profiles-
Thank god I'm not the only one who notices this 😭 Most of the characters (execpt for Toriel, Asgore, Asriel, and Alphys) look like they have awkwardly long snouts with some of them barely having a gap between the nose and the mouth. It just looks so goddamn weird 💀
> obviously she is a good and experienced artist, how can she not be able to draw okay looking side profiles She's not lol, she has no concept of anatomy, no grasp of color theory, lighting or composition, the only thing she can do is copy what she saw in anime poorly. She's basically stucked in that phase where every artists draw anime because it's cool, but it's even worse with Camila since Glitchtale is so popular I don't think she feel the need to improve on anything. Ya know, the same overconfident hero who’s middle name is COOL? Literally disappointed he didn’t try to make a second battle body and instead went for that UGLY ass potato bag fit, don’t even get me started with how Cami draws his head 😭 I really liked how he was characterized in his talk with Gaster-as mentioned in this video-and it honestly mirrors a little of how he still wanted to redeem the player in Undertale’s genocide run, and being able to save Sans from Hate serving as a solution to defeating the evil; I can absolutely see him trying to redeem Betty since Stream brought it up. Cami basically shoved some of Undyne’s TwT sad gowrl crap onto Papyrus and tried to make him cool again with the house defending scene to make up for it. Also didn’t like how he sucked in the Animosity fight, like I wish Papyrus asserted himself more to get his point across, but then because of his good heart, leaves him in a compromising position for Betty to do some damage.
I’m just horrified from the fact that in some shots, he has two rows of teeth. What should be a bare skull has been turned into lips that part to reveal teeth.

Camila (and community in general if you don't believe me just look at the fan arts of Papyrus through last 8 years) hard to draw she isn't that much skilled animator. Camilla stated that she made this series to learn animation.
My personal opinion of Glitchtale has always been: Entertaining fights, good concepts, and *terrible* execution. The later fights are entertaining, and there are definitely a few good ideas and concepts at work there, however hard they may be to extract from the garbage, but the execution was so bad that it was completely wasted. I mostly just use it as a source of inspiration by cherry-picking my favorite details, tying it together with head-canon's, and working from that. For example, my headcanon for Chroma magic is that it doesn't allow *true* access to all seven traits, but rather allows the wielder to use their own magic to mimic the effects of the traits at a lesser level, to wield a pale shadow of the true might of the given trait. Similarly, my headcanon for Betty is a mixture of my preferences for the implications of her beginning characterization and origins and some admittedly large leaps in logic to satisfy my desire for complex characters that aren't purely black or white. My personal interpretation of Betty is that she is her own being, but struggles with the knowledge of how she was created. She has her own mind separate from Amber or Agate, however due to her being the creation of Agate's spell, she innately knows the purpose of her creation and possesses the relevant knowledge from Agate so as to fulfill that purpose. Part of her internal struggle is the fact that everything that makes up her identity is sourced from someone else; Her body? Made using Amber's fresh corpse as a base. Her Soul? Made from Agate's Soul. Her Purpose? From the moment of her creation, she knew she was made to prevent monsters and humans from ever coexisting. Her Knowledge? Imported from Agate. Everything that makes her a person isn't actually hers. A freshly created mind with the knowledge of an adult, the body of a child, and a will not their own, she is the ultimate case of Imposter Syndrome. She doesn't know who she is as a person and is literally building her own personality and identity as she goes. This is why she's so inconsistent in the beginning and why she latched onto Jessica's "kill all monsters" plan, throughout Season 2 she is building her personal identity and goals from the ground up and as such the events impact said personality.

Just adding my two cents. Jessica was the worst. She was a bad mother. She neglected her child. Then we are supposed to think she is a victim? She was poorly written and I was upset when she got a 'good' ending after dying. Idk. It all made me mad

A plot hole I don’t see mentioned often is how, considering Asriels soul has the determination of the the six human souls + Chara’s from season one, in addition to his own determination as Flowey, he should in theory have taken over the timeline, yet we see that’s not the case in season 2
@@dataroaming7512 I suppose so, but the traits that Chara had were given to them due to the determination of the human souls, which in and of itself is a bit strange. @@jaydajuvenile2631There’s plenty of valid stuff to diss Toriel on; the characters have all made mistakes but not the exact _same_ mistakes. My issue is more about characters behaving in-character. At least we generally know the plot of Fnaf. Purple man kills kids and stuffs their bodies into robot animals. Spirits of said kids come back and possess their robot coffins to kill Purple man. Purple man gets killed but still lives on as a zombiefied Trix the rabbit. Purple Trix the man rabbit survives getting burnt until he was lured into a restaurant along with other damaged robot furries owned by his oldest son who accidentally killed his little brother in a prank back in 1983 and who also "died" in an underground maintenance facility trying to save his little sister who was killed by a "kid-friendly" Joker robot. Undead man, with the help of Purple man's old friend, Old Sport (Henry), traps all the robots and burns everyone to a crisp, setting their souls free while Purple man gets tormented in his personal hell by one of his victims. Glitchtale affected my art style in the worst ways possible because for a while i kept doing these snout side profiles and it was horrid. So glad i moved on from that.
56:37 Alright so hear me out, there's a way we can make this make sense, bear with me Basically, souls have the ability to produce magic, which is then stored in a sort of buffer for quick access during battle, when a soul loses its trait it also loses the ability to produce more magic, but whatever was left in the buffer is still there until it runs out, so what bravery personTM was using was this leftover magic I know it's a bit of an ass pull but hey what isn't in this series
I remember during a livestream Camila got very mad at people thinking papyrus’ right eye glowed orange, and she was like “when you invert sans’ blue eye it’s red”, like she was so pissed about it I remember her talking about it on multiple occasions, even though in undertale there are blue and orange indicators…

I think the main reason of Camila's failures on this series is the fact that she was into stick fights. You can see that the line of thought that the story should exist only in order to make the fights more interesting (and not vice versa, as most stories work) is a consequence of this era of her work. This is shown on her inconsistent plot, characters and her bad scenarios too, as most stick animations also have little to no scenario.
glitchtale's new animation is cool and all but there is literally no beating the nemesis collabs. six shooter playing while jade slaughtered her way through an entire base was so peak...

ive seen RHG before and the most lore you got was usually a minor background (take resh’s character for example, umbrella, hes a hitman with a cool umbrella and radiation poisoning that got kidnapped, mindwiped, and got his family killed, thats it)
@@dehydratedair yes its a mnior background, however it's about how it's executed and how it IMPACTS the fights going forwards i honestly don't think we ever got a cameo of jade's parents. contrast that with umbrella's backstory affecting every animation with him
This video just made me realised how GlitchTale is very flawed; from the lore, magic system, characters, all right down to the creator. And I’m very ashamed to say that this series was my biggest source of inspiration for my own UnderTale fanfic tetralogy. Edit: It’s still going to be written and published, it just needs more polishing…
After watching the video, I think Betty herself needs to be addressed. Camila knowing or not, wrote a Lich, or an immortal being that bound it's soul to the living world through a profane ritual that is believed to require the sacrifice of an innocent life into Glitchtale. Her claiming it was the bête noire ritual was her just trying to give meaning to the characters name to make her seem deep. I could point out how Betty being ignorant to what she was and going from simply preventing monsters and humans from making peace, to fully aware of her nature and feeding her hunger for death to increase her own power no matter the cost would be a better story than her being evil all along, but we all know how that song and dance goes.
@@T_E_Gthats true.. thats fucking true! She was even an important magic user and turned into this immortal, very powerful being that goes around and slaughter everyone and wants to conquer planets.. hmmm, what are the resemblance..? 🧐 betty in adventure time > betty noir tho
Camila also constantly makes fun of her fans asking if she's gonna post new episodes yet, basically when she's streaming, a fan once asked about her animation and she gets defensive.
Fuck Cami, but I think that's justified to a degree since she seems to work harder than someone like Yandev. Maybe things have changed but I was there back when she livestreamed her process on Glitchtale. She was relatively consistent and that's all I'll give her.
Btw she's so mean to her fans that she made a joke animation that had all the things the fans wanted in it, like sans suddenly coming back to life and chara stabbing betty, and she's all like "haha now you know why this is stupid" as if the fucking official ending is better!! How is the JOKE conflict resolve better than one that she put effort into?
@@erihtea0719 no not literally. She could literally just say “oh I’ll ye y’all’s when it’s ready” or “I’m making it rn” or “oh here’s a idea of when it’s coming out”. No need for rudenessw

"Why are all the female characters wearing long dresses?" It's so that Cami doesn't have to animate their legs lol.
I mean, is it really bad that all the female characters wear long dresses?
@@Ebh55.Kinda it gives a lack of variety and makes them more generic
@@Ebh55. it's not a bad thing but the real problem is the lack of diverse designs for each characters. Some characters look recolored too.

Why the fuck does this sound familiar- **Remembers RWBY** oh right-
So I'm actually the VA for Alphys and Isabelle in Glitchtale and yeah, I can't really argue with you.
So basically RWBY Chibi
Or start second season as slice of life and then go for action, Animated kid shows do thi kind of things, they use a season the stablish and the next one for plot

If anyone wants a refresher, here’s how souls work in canon:
Red: does nothing, implied to have resurrective capabilities.
So i have the explanation for pink being fear
Its because its the "opposite of bravery" which would be fear. IIRC pink is maybe(?) on the opposite side of the color wheel to orange? I dont remember. And i am not looking it up. Im to lazy
To sum up. Uhhh
Forbidden spell makes soul "invert".

Monsters are weak to malice. If you attack them with sadness or anger, they die more easily than if you attack them with apathy. If you attack them with genuine desire for them to die, they die more easily than if you attack them with sadness or anger.

"Wait, isn't Perseverance just Determination?"
Can't fault Camila for those two being considered separate SOUL traits.

Okay this street is actually insane.
1. The curb on the left is like a foot high while on the right it’s half a foot,
2. It’s not even really a curb the concrete slabs of the sidewalk are just super thick essentially
3. The corner in the top right is like, angled downwards it seems
Also no way the artist thought about natural factors changing sidewalk height and then forgot how road markings work completely

I really think (one of the many) fundamental problem(s) is as follows:
Undertale is a story that really *only* works as a video game.

You sound like someone who didn't unlock Bf in Super smash bros melee.
Im guessing because those inverse souls use HATE, which also empowers the user. It would be kind of odd if they just became a scaredy cat, I guess
Fear is not a normal trait, Betty is nor human nor monster and she is born as a result of Agatha's fear, her fear of monsters, litteraly xenophobia
@@Midacidguy this is really well thought out and def worth the read.

@@crimson19 Yeah, sad to see the only au that has gone post neutral that I've seen has been Horrortale
@@beywheelzhater8930 so it's based off the one where you kill all the bosses and most (but not all) monsters?

She's not lol, she has no concept of anatomy, no grasp of color theory, lighting or composition, the only thing she can do is copy what she saw in anime poorly. She's basically stucked in that phase where every artists draw anime because it's cool, but it's even worse with Camila since Glitchtale is so popular I don't think she feel the need to improve on anything.

Dear God, they did my boy DIRTY in this show!
My personal interpretation of Betty is that she is her own being, but struggles with the knowledge of how she was created. She has her own mind separate from Amber or Agate, however due to her being the creation of Agate's spell, she innately knows the purpose of her creation and possesses the relevant knowledge from Agate so as to fulfill that purpose. Part of her internal struggle is the fact that everything that makes up her identity is sourced from someone else;
Her body?
I love how you made it 10 times better by making shit up

A plot hole I don’t see mentioned often is how, considering Asriels soul has the determination of the the six human souls + Chara’s from season one, in addition to his own determination as Flowey, he should in theory have taken over the timeline, yet we see that’s not the case in season 2
If I remember Chara just gave him the shell of his soul which was then filled with the other traits, so it's actually not so certain.
@@dataroaming7512 I suppose so, but the traits that Chara had were given to them due to the determination of the human souls, which in and of itself is a bit strange.
So what I’m getting at is, if Chara gave Asriel the traits to inhabit the soul, then that should also have given him the combined determination of the souls.
@@matttale7918In the omega flowey fight, he uses the ability to save and load so, in theory, he’d have control of the timeline, yet he doesn’t.
