Bob and Brad discuss how to assess and stop carpal tunnel pain.
Some of our astute followers have noticed me slurring my words. I am not drunk but working with Brad it would be justifiable. I had 6 infected cysts removed from my mouth (noncancerous) and I have residual scar tissue and numbness. I will try to do better. Thanks Bob.

The videos on these subjects have been so much more helpful than a lot of the doctors I’ve seen about suspected nerve compression, it gave me a proper checklist of ALL the areas to get scans and tests for.
Initially my doctors chose to “assume” I had carpal tunnel in both my wrists because my symptoms were so stereotypical, but after seeing some of your videos I insisted they do tests to pinpoint whether the compression was in my arms or the neck, it was shocking that they hadn’t thought to do that considering my symptoms were completely bilateral!
The results came back with a big surprise, I didn’t have ANY nerve compression anywhere in my body. Further investigation revealed I instead had small fibre neuropathy caused by undiagnosed Hashimoto’s disease and it was just mimicking nerve compression as it also causes numbness and burning pains.
So even tho your videos on compressed nerves don’t technically relate to the condition I ended up having, they were still extremely helpful in prompting the discovery what was REALLY going on with my wrist numbness/pain!
Definitely recommend anyone in the comment section suffering from symptoms to get a conclusive diagnosis to assure your doctors know exactly how to get your body back to normal!!

Hi guys!! Just starting your video, but wanted to comment anyways!! Six years ago I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel!! Doctor wanted to do surgery. I didn’t want surgery. I have broken both my wrists and have been doing massage for 26 years. At the time, it was 20 years. Anyways, I wasn’t in constant pain, and have had friends who had horrible after affects/effects from surgery, so was super fearful of permanent pain. So, I met a girl who taught me yoga moves for carpal tunnel!! The yoga moves made me so much better that I never had surgery!! And I wear the braces, to this day, when I sleep and I never wake up with numb hands, so the braces are AMAZING for sleeping!! I also had trigger finger, five ish years ago, and THAT’S when I found your channel and your trigger finger video made mine go away!!! Your channel helps soooo many people!!! Thanks for making it so easy for all of us to help ourselves!! For the 8,000th time, you guys ROCK!! Hugs and have a happy rest of your week!!! 🙂

Hi@@MyMaxKitty!! Hang in there!! Have hope that you won’t need surgery!! Here is a carpal tunnel playlist from my channel. I might mention, in my videos, that often the carpal tunnel stems from tight shoulders. (But can’t remember if I do) If your shoulders are tight, maybe work on loosening them up too??? I wish you great success!! 🙂

My mom benefited a lot from wearing wrist braces at night. She was able to avoid surgery that way.
I definitely feel tightness in my median nerve when I do stretches like that. I have to be very careful not to inflame the nerve. I should probably do it a little more often, though.
Mine does get stuck around the 1st rib sometimes. The next time it does I will try the belt. I assisted people with that stretch as a massage therapist years ago. But I hadn't heard of using a belt to do it on myself. Awesome idea! 👍

    • @Sanakudou
      @Sanakudou 2 роки тому

While splints are helpful during episodes of chronic inflammation and typically quite important to wear at night when you sleep, rebuilding strength in the hand/wrist is also really important for recovery. All the time spent resting and sometimes even nerve damage from the compression leads to muscle wasting, so seeing a occupational therapist/physiotherapist to properly exercise your hand/wrist is an important part of recovery!

Bob, I HOPE 🤞🏽 your "As it should be" was meant because women can tolerate PAIN.😊
I was 17 when I began experiencing carpal tunnel struggles and was diagnosed.
I'd been a competitive gymnast for a few years prior, yet never knew the true cause.
(My mom and one brother also suffered from this and later had surgery)
I tried everything shy of surgery for 10 years, having heard it was not highly successful way back when.
The numbness and tingling escalated to what felt like daggers jabbing in and out from elbows to fingertips.
    😓
Sleep deprivation and agony lead to the crazed point of my wanting to cut my arms off.
Vicodin and such were not touching it.
Following the electrode testing (talk about adding to the pain !),
I at last opted for surgery.
The very night of surgery, there was SUCH relief, even amidst the swelling from the operation.
Three weeks later, I also had the second wrist 'fixed.'
25 years+ now, I am still free of pain ... an occasional tingle at most.
    Keeping weight down DEFINITELY benefits.
(I'd put on a few after stopping competition, and it was SO MUCH WORSE)
Thank you, as always, for your helpful info.
