I have been trying for two years to figure out what is wrong with my hips. My doctor has been no help other than to recommend some physical therapy which did nothing - because they never diagnosed the problem! Every single thing you said in this video about the cause and the exercises related to bursitis - is exactly my scenario. From the cause to the symptoms to the exercise that hit the exact spots of my pain. I have a terrible time sleeping because of this so this has a serious effect on my whole life. You have no idea how important this video has been to me! Thank you so much. At least now I know the problem I can start to focus on how to improve my situation. I really appreciate you taking the time to post this.

I feel you! I had that same problem. And it started to carry out to my hip flexors and my lower back. So once I started working on these muscles. The other problems went away!
Doctors don’t know anything. I went to my doctor. And they told me “sciatica” and asked if I wanted medication. Lol like really?

Mine would get worse when sleeping because I sleep on my back, and no matter what pillows or devices I used to try prevent the hip rolling outward, still, it would roll out, and I would wake up hollering in pain. It was a soft strap around the knees, just above the knees, that has allowed me to heal a lot and sleep through the night. This has helped for two years now.

Hi guys, I have a suggestion about the pillow between the legs: I made a kind of sausage- cushen from an old sleeping back. I rolled it up and made a long cover for it. During the day it is on the top of the bed and during the night I use it as a kind of cuddling pillow, to embrase it with my arms and legs (between the knees). It works good!

  • @yveclark
    @yveclark 2 роки тому +1

You're fantastic. Ther pillow is a life saver. I get sleep,,!
I was diagnosed with one leg longer than the other after a knee replacement and d developed bursitis on that side. I don't want injections again, they work, but the hassle is not worth it t if I can avoid it. I am lucky in n that I've discovered a cheap firm foam shoe insert on ebay that is the same thickness as the expensive ones the physiotherapist prescribed and I just put them in any new shoes. I even glue it then in my new sandals!
I do get flare ups from gardening now and then, but they are short lived now.
You are our first port of call for any pain. I tell everyone about you.

My leg length turned out to be a twisted pelvis. Didn't know I had a problem until I had knee pain caused from jumping on a mini-trampoline. The early medical approach was to xray the knee which was clear. Put on pain meds for 2 weeks and given a Levine strap. No improvement. It wasn't until I went to an Japanese acupuncturist that I learned the pain was referred and the leg is shorter because the spine is twisted. He manually untwisted, but that didn't work. I'm still working on untwisting. I understand it's from trauma that occurred early in mom's pregnancy. Today the diagnosis is rotational scoliosis.

I have R side glut med tendonopathy.. Interesting that as a regular leg routine I do 100 clamshells a day, 100 side leg lifts.. 100 side leg lifts with 2 lb was and yet when I went to the doc today he had me lay on my side and pushed my top R leg right down. He said "you failed the test.. your glut med is really weak." I told him my routine. I learned something important today... that my legs are STRONG.. FEW people could do this routine, but glut med is not firing. So doc suggested I do sidestep squats with red band.. work up to green JUST TO GET GLUT MED FIRING.
Then after that he said step bad side foot on stair and lift other leg up to stair height... hips even... also to get glut med firing. He said NEVER do clamshells at this stage of pain that I have. They cause too much internal rotation which causes compression. He said that clams are most likely aggravating my condition... I will do your reverse clams (great tip). Love your channel. Would appreciate any comment.

I started having this pain during my last pregnancy at 41. It has something to do with relaxin in my case. It's come back on and off during the last 8 years. I recently went to a chiropractor who does SHAPE therapy and they had me lay on my back and they pressed on the boney prominence on my left hip while I was laying on my back and the pain is gone! They pressed so hard, they practically bruised the bone but I'm back in alignment. I went through some low back pain after the adjustment and now that's going away. Especially for women, this might be an issue.
Pregnancy is very hard and all the organs and bones move. I have a strong intuition that's what happened to me. The timing certainly fit. Interestingly, my mom started having SVT after her pregnancy with me, and this same accupressurist/chiropractor pressed her stomach down and away from the heart area and it's almost gotten rid of her palpitations. This makes so much sense because eating too much or going to the bathroom could trigger them. Even the valsalva maneuver indicates that something is related to the other organs.

CORRECTION (what I said below).. my homework from Sports med doc was put the GOOD side leg on stair and lift the bad side leg up using hip to stair height and release. Other leg can do also but am recovering from foot fracture on that side.. which is probably the cause of glut med tendonopathy. When I got rid of walking boot on L foot, I started walking favoring R foot. The doc said this is common to get glut med tendonopathy just getting out of the boot.
Also in my routine I made a typo.. I used 2 lb WTS on SIDE leg lifts. Doc said that is okay.. but to get glut med firing, not bad for me but not useful either. Said problem is glut med not firing.. its not like I need leg strength.

I needed passive stretching , relaxation , n repetitive series of motion to learn the whole concept of walking. I had a superb physiotherapist . Pioneering in CP-rehab. Tender stretching on the floor. Etc. This won't do.

We are currently in the process of uploading all the hip videos onto our UA-cam channel, and once that is done, we will be able to upload the whole series to our website. We cannot upload it onto the website until they are released on UA-cam. We are hoping to have this completed by the middle of March. Here is a link to our UA-cam channel hip series, which includes all our videos that we have uploaded so far on this series. ua-cam.com/play/PL8l32k1r15l5iQVvJytCOZlPDIzFz2rNo.html

Hi Goga, sorry to hear this. Maybe look at mobility exercises you can do to help relieve tension in the hips would be better then strength exercises.

What are the most common long lasting injuries that could be formed from an untreated tear of the lguteus medius? I did something about a year in a half ago and i am still trying to get it diagnoses. When i move my hip to the side it hurts a lot and is sensitive to the touch. From 1/10 the pain i would say is a 1 by touch but when moving the hip in that direction i was telling you about i would say it is a 4/10 and i feel that near the edge of the femor. Any ideas on what that could be anyone?

Continued from below. I am going to try your reverse clams only with a pillow between my legs so that there is no severe internal rotation.

I have GT bursitis on my left hip (had hip replacement on that side about 9 months ago). Needless to say, it it too painful to lay on that side but I really need to build up my muscles. Do I actually lay on my bad hip to do the reverse clam shell exercises? Thank you for your help! P.S. I had a superior recovery from my rt knee replacement 3 years ago due to your videos. My ortho was amazed!

Are these isometrics alright to do laying face down?
Assuming that position doesn’t cause pain, would it still aid me?
    Thanks.

It might be more challenging to get the contraction face down. To get the best engagement of those external rotators in the hip lying on your back would be best!
