    I like this, part of why i built my own setup, not completely from scratch but from parts in the way i wanted it.

    I mean that's pretty cool, but you could get those 25 or even 30 minutes with a regular 7 inch as well. Even BNFs like the Chimera 7 should get that done, so I do not really see the point of making a frame on your own. The Five33 Lightswitch 7 inch seems pretty promising as well. Cool project tho. Respect

      Remember the goal was 35+. We didn't achieve it, we got "only" 25, which as you say regular BNF 7" can also do, but our goal was much more.

      I thought the same. I built some 6s1p 21700 4200mah packs and get mid to upper 20’s with a Rekon7.

    i think i can make it do 35 minutes outdoor. will need to tweak few things. that frame is too heavy. prop size needs to be 4 or 5 inches and use some nylon screws. there are few other stuff like motor choice which will also help but 35 minutes is doable.

    Yeah, cool project. I am thinking about doing same thing from time to time but my CAD knowledge is very basic. I don’t need 25mins but 10-15 would be nice sometimes.

      The good thing about doing your own drone is you can decide what's important and what's not important for you and your goal, and create something towards that goal. In this case I didn't care much about carrying a GoPro for example, and therefore I didn't need the power on the motors, or the space to attach it.

    Very cool project. Couple questions: 1) how did it feel flying 1500kv motor on 4S? 2) what was the weight including Battery straps, battery pad, GPS etc (final flying weight because when you show it on the scale it doesnt look like it is complete)?

      Hi David.
      1.-it’s a cruiser. Long and easy turns. I like flying it at high altitudes and long range.
      2.-just under 500gr (494) with 4S 18650 walksnail version. Vista version was 523gr
      In the scale is without GPS and with the original antenna. I changed the antenna later for a sma adapter and. Longer antenna

      @@NordFPV Thanks so much for the info. I am building a 6" with a slightly heavier build and motors. With everything including 4S1P 18650 it is 605g. I do however think the max range is going to be with 4S2P 18650.

    Do you have more details on the design and math you did behind the scenes? Quality community builds smoke BNFs out of the water by a mile

    • @NordFPV
      @NordFPV  8 місяців тому

      I guess we have all the details that you may want. Still this project was actually done some time ago and it can take some effort to dig up small details. Feel free to write to me if you are interested in anything in particular and I will try to help as much as possible.

    What was the reason to go with the sma style antenna instead of just having the walksnail ufl connect antenna? You could shave more weight not having that chunky connection on there.

    • @NordFPV
      @NordFPV  8 місяців тому

      Hi Michael. I did actually started with the original 2 antennas. V1 walksnail unit. Then I started to do some long range flights and I needed a better antenna. That’s why I changed to the SMA and got a better LHCP antenna.

    It's a pain to tune such an ultra light build.
    I dont recommend building one of these, if you aren't skilled at tuning.
    Scott Tomlinson got more than 55 minues flight time with those motors. Check it out.
