13:26 The Rocket Take off almost LOL. great work dude, keep it up. :D thats some good work there. Wish I was living at a great green natural place like you do. and I could fly FPV All day long
Yeah but if you short a lipo battery with anything metal which has a smal diameter it will melt acting like a fuse The current paddy trough the screw melted it not the fire Actually basic electronics here Sorry for bad English I’m Italian 15 yo Edit:paddy=passing sorry
I don't think that's smoke, that's just a piece of string stuck to the back left motor. The short occurred rapidly, presumably the positive shorting to ground. You can see it's desoldered after the fact.
@@ivansimic1878 Usually it's a much more immediate smoke-out, the fact that it took so long is a bit bizzare, and that smoke was very subtle, I assume he had at least 1 flight after this takeoff before it finally gave up. That was the FC smoking, probably some capacitor or something, not the battery.
Let me know what YOU learned from this video! Remember, we learn more from our failures than our successes. 😉 👍 Psst! Did you notice the magic smoke being sucked back into the quad at 11:19?
You should make a frame with proper specs so the clearances and cooling are right. I love the offset motors and giant props. I saw a couple videos on charging batteries and fireproof bunkers. I had an idea from that about using one of those metal wagons to hold the bunker and also put out a fire when charging. Fire extinguisher and sand reserviors would all be in a mobile dohicky. The original idea was so if you got a fire you could quickly move the fire outside so it wouldnt get your house. BUT, your situation in this video, gave me an idea! Take the wagon with you when you fly and you have a mobile fire extinguisher. Its like carrying a gun. You do it in hopes of never needing it, but if you need it nothing else would work. I wonder how many pilots carry sand with them when they fly? Dude, you got my mind spinnin. Keep it up man. SUB!
I don't think that cooling was at the root of your combustability issue. I think something got bridged. Hard to believe it got hot enough to melt components, but maybe so
I did this with 4" props on a 3" inverted frame analogue build. Flight time of 30mins with a 1550mah lipo. (Providing you don't screw the bollocks off it and fly without the extra weight of a gopro). No fires so far and goes like a rocket.
My drone is a wizard x220hv and I haven’t fly it yet and I have everything I just need to somebody teach me how you setup the switch or wherever you just did in the minute 6:55 can you help me on that ? Respond please, I buy the drone like 2 months ago and haven’t fly it 😩
I think that this is actually not a bad idea; i would try and get a slightly bigger frame where the props wont get superposed (but very close though), and definitely a better rated ESC, and a bunch of standoffs/spacers.. . Good stuff.
@@RCwithAdam1 i am making 10 drones a week, and inspired from you i am thinking to 2 diagonal up and 2 diagonal inverted motors 6 inch in a 4inch frame. SHould that work ?
I keep a holy picture of sir Bardwell in my drone case, to bless all FPV sessions. Anyways, really nice video dude, I really like the drone b roll footage you made also the video was fuun 🤣😂 I saw a little strain of smoke at 11:17 coming from the drone 😂🔥
I don’t know if it’s just me, I’m new to this. But at about 11 minutes and 10 seconds, does motor number one propeller look wobbly? Or am I just paying too much attention to detail?
A ratchet? Best way to strip them nuts, dude. No direct 'feel' with a ratchet. Other than that _very_ minor critique, great job! Always interesting to see new ideas.
That was a realy fun video to watch... I enjoyed the project and the video. I love it when people experiment with what's possible with drone and make us rethink the standard drone. I have seen some videos of 12s quads. Imagine one this size this on 12s, that would be insane.
If screws touch the windings on the bottom of the motor it will get hot and fry. Or if your solder joints are bad on the esc it will do the same. Fun project by the way
That was just a sweet video to see! I haven't watched a truly entertaining qwad video in a while, and this one had me laughing! Good edit and a cool idea!
Looked to me like that bounce pushed that screw through your lipo packs poly cover and you had a thermal runaway. that fire was too violent to be just a short circuit to ground imho and a venting lipo certainly has enough heat to melt a screw head...
I'd definitely think twice about using that motor without rewiring it first because it looks like the enamel would have been melted in the fire and on top of that it might have been the reason fpr the fire in the first place but that's just my personal opinion.

@ 11:19 you can see magic smoke , esc was warning ⚠️ you of catastrophe failure
great observation
thats awesome Smoke hahhaha LOL
You were visited by “Puff” the magic dragon. 😂
Great to see this hobby expanding into such wild ideas, never know what the next thing will be!

Seems like a buncha people do here. Lol.
Do it now
this puts a smile on my face
SLAPP that BASS!
The screw melted cuz it shorted the esc through the screw to the frame, a 30sec fire could not melt that screw.
I think you're right!
Makes sense to me. I don’t think it would melt that fast either but lipo fires are hot.
Yeah but if you short a lipo battery with anything metal which has a smal diameter it will melt acting like a fuse
The current paddy trough the screw melted it not the fire
Actually basic electronics here

yep that was my observation too, shorting to the carbon, had this happen early on in my FPV experience, crazy how the screw melted lol
I mean jet fuels can melt steel pillars
You can literally see the motors smoking before the fire at 11:18
I don't think that's smoke, that's just a piece of string stuck to the back left motor. The short occurred rapidly, presumably the positive shorting to ground. You can see it's desoldered after the fact.

what receiver is installed in the drone in the video
What size motors is on the 3 inch originally
When you said "don't breathe this" it brought me right back to "is it a good idea to microwave this?"
If you look at 11:19 you can see smoke already coming up
Simon Minchington i had to click the timestamp three times til I finally saw the smoke... how did you notice it?? 😳😂

Racedayquads, getfpv, Banggood, or sometimes Amazon.

The board probably bridged to the carbon fiber
Hey i wanna ask what are the benefits of color prop distinguished one?
Hi! I'm not sure what you mean. 🤔
@@RCwithAdam1 you know a lot of fpv player like steele that the 1 prop of 4 prop is different 1

Sure it wasn't a LiPo fire? The sparks made it look like a battery fire.
Or maybe a short in the battery cables? Near the capacitor maybe?
I thought for sure it was, but the battery is totally fine (at least externally)!
