I met shawn crahan last night. He played in my hometown in Iowa at a park. He was the nicest guy i've ever met, he made an effort to learn me and my friends name, repeatedly talked to us, and gave me a drum head and signed it. He's such a great, and real guy; by far my favorite member of slipknot
yeah. people say he's a dick at times but you know, he sacrificed doing another tour with slipknot because he knew he needed to stay home with his kids while his wife was in the hospital. that fucking speaks to me.
Man, all the Slipknot guy's seems like the finest people to be around. I would love to just hang out with these guy's having a few beers and listening to music. Fine people
I understand what you were trying to do camera man. You overdid it. Have a very slightly floating handheld for 90%, cut to your shaky, focus pulls, zooms, frame changes the other 10%. Poorly edited.
Irrelevant, it's supposed to be a professional interview. It was poorly done, that's my only point. It was distracting, and I had to back up more than once because I was jarred away from the subject matter by poor edits. I couldn't care less if the people who made it listen or not, or care or not. I do this for a living, have for a long time. I'm a professional. If this came across my desk in a demo reel, I would not hire the director, or the editor. The cameraman may have just been doing as he was instructed.
wow these series of interviews totally changed how i see slipknot. theyre really hard working and have to go thru a lotta trouble and stress. they have gotta b the most respected band by me
He had a rough few years. First his dad died when he was on the road and the last time that he saw him he fought with him. Then his mom ended up in a nursing home with Alzheimer's and Dementia and he couldn't stand to see her like that so he couldn't bring himself to visit her until she was dying. Then he lost Paul and realized that they were always so busy doing band stuff that he never really took the time to just be Paul's friend,so he lost a lot of time with him too. That's a lot to take in.
@@joshuaperez441 Jesus christ he lost his daughter aswell?? I never knew that one. Man that's true hell. I've lost everyone including 3 friends and still have my mam and brother. But couldn't imagine losing a kid
I remember being able to give his wife a flower and a note to them both. I heard that she wasn't feeling well, and thought she might like it. I didn't want anything. Just wanted to do something nice for someone. Jim helped me get it to her too. Then on Halloween 2007 there was a quick question with Shawn in the outside the nine fan club. I was trying to think of something good to ask him when it was my turn. I finally remembered that video they played on the screen before their shows during the subliminal versus tour. I asked him and he commended me for paying attention to that. I printed it out and framed it.🤘❤️
The camera man must be on some heavy drugs when filming this interview. With all the damn erratic movements & all the damned zooming in & out. ..... Made me seasick!!
wow this guy is really deep. i'm new to slipknot and ive been watching these interviews to try to get a better understanding of them but so far he is my favorite. hes a pretty grounded guy and hes got his priorities.
The person I least expected to be the deepest and most understanding member of Slipknot. oO Guess the "Don't judge a book by its cover" quote kicked in here.
Shawn and Paul have been there the longest....still rockin'. Shawn's like 40 years old. I feel for him though. I can't imagine how much he has missed in those 10 years. As well as the other guys. And really it has been longer than 10 years for Shawn. 1992 Slipknot made their first recording the "Basement Sessions". What a legacy.
They all like each other equally. Actually, if you asked any member who they have the most respect for, they would probably say Shawn, since he is the main founder of the band and he sort of guides the band in some way. But yes it is true that they fight, but all bands have their moments, and the Slipknot members fight with the Clown on stage because it's part of the act.
i never thought the creator of the band wud have such a different side to him than what he shows while with slipknot. i never knew a dream that big could just change the things around a person that they really care about. this is an amazing interview i really like it
I'd really love to sit down and just talk with him. I'd learn so much. It's wicked that he's a Libra like me too. Once on ot9 in 2007, he was answering questions from fans. I was freaking out trying to think of something... anything intelligent I could ask him. Finally it hit me. The video they showed before the shows during the subliminal versus tour. I asked him if that footage would be on the upcoming DVD. He complimented me paying attention and told me that it would be for sure included. Good times🙏❤️🤘🤘🤘
To Shawn i have the utmost Respect for you and the choice you made when that happend and i would suport your choice if you had to do it again Slipknot brought me back to Metal and i am thankfull for that but allways keep family first!!!
Just because of their angry music so many people see them as angry and bad people, when in reality it makes them more human and more real than anyone putting on a fake face for whatever reason.
I really like this guy. Im really not a fan of slipknot but I like this guy, he seems very wise. He seems very intelligent and into his art. Respect to the man.
Shawn is the homie. I was in the audience at a Q and A at Musicians Institute in HollyHood, CA while attending school there in 2011. Corey was also there and it was so great to be under the same roof as those two bc they're the most honest professional musicians. Glad they get to share their message with the world. A lot of ppl need to hear it.
It's strange. Some people seem surprised by how well-spoken he is. I recall hearing that at least a few of Slipknot's members went to very high-end schools (ex. Ivy League).
@adamscreams2010 I've talked to him quite a few times. I didn't even know who he was for a good while. He's really down to earth and doesn't act like a celebrity at all. Always said hi to me every time he passed, too (I work somewhere he frequented).
look, both of you, its not worth it to fight over slipknots unique style! their my favorite band, and clown is waaay more than just a dude banging on a keg. he did great stuff in all hope in gone. and hes amazing for staying home for his kids.
I know. I think the camera is alright. I think it brings a more realistic, down to earth tone to the 9. In concert, they're pretty insane and over the top. These interviews bring Slipknot down to earth. I think the camera further expresses this. But that's just my opinion.
yeah man and on stage usually the fights are almost a show of respect. Slipknot just roll like that if you watch Chris' interview he talks about how it's never "Why did you light me on fire?" and more like "Why didn't you use MORE gasoline?" That's just how it is with them.
Blessings and mad respect🤘❤️
The fucking camera zooms... I feel like I'm watching The Office.
Mad Alice: A Tribute to Alice in Chains & Mad Season It's way worse.
I'm laughing my ass of because of the camera angles 😂
kat ? 🤣
Your obviously not familiar with Clowns artistic sryles
Hideo Kojima's Voliminal
I love Shawn Crahan, one of the coolest and wisest guys ever.
yeah. people say he's a dick at times but you know, he sacrificed doing another tour with slipknot because he knew he needed to stay home with his kids while his wife was in the hospital. that fucking speaks to me.
@Jacques De Molay what’s wrong with eyeliner?
r.i.p the cameraman when shawn sees this
He's such a down to earth guy. Mad respect.
Why did they give the camera to a four year old?
Joe Biondich 🤣
Because *ART* I guess. Probably Shawn's decision I would think.
Nah it's just E D G Y
They purposely filmed it like this. Similar to Welcome To Our Neighborhood. It’s an artistic style
well its quite artistic
Man, all the Slipknot guy's seems like the finest people to be around. I would love to just hang out with these guy's having a few beers and listening to music. Fine people
Same with the mighty Pantera. Salt of the earth people! NEVER rockstars, ALWAYS fans! ... (miss em)
Shawn has to be the most thoughtful member out of the 9 members, he is so caring and has such great knowledge :)
I've talked to all of them at different times
At different shows and I dearly love them all. Really great individuals, all of them 🙏❤️
The wisest yet most insane and twisted member of Slipknot
I love him ... he's such an amazing person ...
Tbh this man is the wisest out of all the members in the band and it's true
They all are in their own way
Is the camera man high?
I sure am
someone was trying to be "artful".
Am I watching a rap video?
Every single member thinks so deep and profound and understand life better than most people do
Clown couldn't be any more real .
Valerie Villalobos love t
RIP Gabriele

he has such an awesome voice!
He is so inspiring. I want be like him 🤘
1:46 the cameraman thought the hand was talking
Shawn is a very clever guy, I really like his way of seeing things. He's a genius
This guy was my hero when I was little, now I know I chose the right guy
is patrick behind the camera?
Yep "upsiedaisy, downsiedaisy blurgblabmyfguv" oh shit hes spinning
I cannot stand this type of camera work.
wow these series of interviews totally changed how i see slipknot. theyre really hard working and have to go thru a lotta trouble and stress. they have gotta b the most respected band by me
It must have been cameraman's first day at work
He had a rough few years. First his dad died when he was on the road and the last time that he saw him he fought with him. Sadly now, his daughter and Joey died during the most recent albums. It's incredibly sad, knowing now with what happened with Joey and now with Chris
@@joshuaperez441 Jesus christ he lost his daughter aswell?? I never knew that one. Man that's true hell. I've lost everyone including 3 friends and still have my mam and brother. But couldn't imagine losing a kid
Definitely one of the smartest men Ive seen, much respect Shawn
10 years with all original members?? Weren't there like thirty dudes go through Slipknot before their first album?
This video made me have a fuckin seizure... thanks alot cameraman. 😵
That camera man really was 100% serious filming this shit lmao
He has been my role model since I was 12... I'm 17 now. I've never been prouder. Maggot forever!

The wisest guy in the band
I fucking love Shawn 💜
He looks like a pirate captain.
Lol
this camera work reminds me of randy from South Park: darting around for no reason
The person I least expected to be the deepest and most understanding member of Slipknot. oO Guess the "Don't judge a book by its cover" quote kicked in here.

I like the camera work
Thats the musician real life , working and losing specials moments ... sad but true .... Good percussionist and human guy
least hes honest with the things he says thats why hes so well respected gotta love this guy
Is the cameraman and /or the director steaming drunk, I'm starting to feel seasick, spoils a great interview.
I think it's supposed to be like that cause it's like that in all the other ones
i never thought the creator of the band wud have such a different side to him than what he shows while with slipknot. i never knew a dream that big could just change the things around a person that they really care about. this is an amazing interview i really like it
He's a real down to to earth guy...His appearance can decive you

@MsSpazzyman now that you mention it.. i agree, it's kinda annoying that the camera is constantly moving around >.>
Badass
To Shawn i have the utmost Respect for you and the choice you made when that happend and i would suport your choice if you had to do it again Slipknot brought me back to Metal and i am thankfull for that but allways keep family first!!!
at 1:05 i thought he was going to say "Myyyyy beard"

Corey uses it in his bathroom to hold his toilet paper.
39 years old. Respect this man SLIPKNOT \../
Listen to what he is saying and forget about the way he looks. Everything he says is fucking true. The man speaks the truth about life
I believe it was the Vol 3. Subliminal Verses tours because I remember Shawn not being at the Jay Leno show or something.

Shawn is the homie. I was in the audience at a Q and A at Musicians Institute in HollyHood, CA while attending school there in 2011. Corey was also there and it was so great to be under the same roof as those two bc they're the most honest professional musicians. Glad they get to share their message with the world. slipknot's attitude is indubitably one of the best I've seen in a band. Stay (sic)
... I said he doesn't.
And I know that he doesn't because you can sense his sincerity and honesty in his eyes and face, regardless how scary it looks.
why the fuck is this guy always looking pissed
damn right..
exactly
Shawns son Gauge goes to my school and ive talked with him a few times, and got a signed poster and some sticks.FUCK YES!
Shawn is my God!
RespecT!
@FIFACommentater If you wanna talk old, you should take a look at Wayne Static. He's 46 already and still going strong! That guy is insane!
Shawn and Chris are the best members

thank you! fck man i was thinking the same thing. lol

Clearly the camera work was meant that way. Its an emotional expose. Photography and film are art forms after all!
41 year old headbanger. Fucking awesome!
yeah man and on stage usually the fights are almost a show of respect. Slipknot just roll like that if you watch Chris' interview he talks about how it's never "Why did you light me on fire?" and more like "Why didn't you use MORE gasoline?" That's just how it is with them.
