What gets me is that teabagging in a video game isn't even representative of literal teabagging. No genitalia is involved or shown. You're literally just crouching over your opponent's face and our minds are filling in the blanks. So not only is it not real sexual assault, it's barely even pretend sexual assault.
Teabagging someone is so satisfying after someone talks shit, especially cheaters. It becomes even more entertaining if said person becomes heated/mad after.
Wait- They’re traumatised by watching their teammate get teabagged, but they’re perfectly fine with shooting other players? 😂 Somethin’ ain’t adding up.
people saying its literal necrophilia forgetting why they’re dead in the first place. Thank you for showing me that this is the least self-aware take on Twitter.
I am gonna take a leap here and say they are american. In which case, as messed up as it is, gun are normal but they don't see actual real life sex often enough to known what it actually entails.
One of my friends, who used to be like a sister to me, claimed that she was r-worded and when I got concerned (because she had never mentioned anything about that before to me, even though we were so close), she proceeded to tell me that creepy people on social media claiming that they were doing inappropriate things to her account profile icon (which was an anime girl that she found on google) was counted as real life SA. Needless to say, I got enraged with her for claiming that she was r*ped, especially when she knew that my bff actually was (which enraged my bff as well when I told them), and told her that she was disgusting for saying that and her other friends are no different because they believe that she was as well. This caused a giant fight between us, where I was the jerk for "invalidating" what happened to her. I wasn't invalidating, I was saying that it is harrassment, not r*pe, so don't claim falsities like that. It is one thing to claim that you were harrassed online, but it is another thing to claim you were fully SAed. She said that "virtual r*pe is a real thing and is just as bad and serious as physical r*pe" and I was shocked that she thought that was okay to claim. Asked her why she never just blocked them and her response was that she was scared they would track her down like they claimed they would if she blocked them, which I guess is an understandable fear, but she also didn't have to respond to their messages if she didn't want to block them. It also amazes me that she thinks it would count as SA when she posted NSFW roleplay starters and "first comment gets to do whatever they want to my muse/oc and I can't say no" posts on all her accounts, but those things don't count as giving permission for people to send her creepy/inappropriate NSFW messages. It disgusts me that her, her partner (who she said was physically SAed), and her friends (all of which are in their 20s) believe and defend her and what happened to her when there are real people that actually are SA victims who don't get justice and are traumatized. Like, she needs to grow up and stop fishing for attention and sympathy for something that didn't actually happen to her. We are no longer as close and I don't talk to her friends or partner. I don't think I am the one in the wrong because i believe it is wrong to claim something so serious when it didn't happen. Sorry for the long message, but this vid gave me the chance to rant about that situation. Love this guys videos and opinions. He says things in a way that make so much sense, while also not being a "normal" way to explain or say them.
You are definitely not in the wrong for acting the way you did, which from what I got from the comment wasn't anything more than you confronting her. If I misunderstood it could you please give me more context unless you don't want to.
You're not wrong for telling her off for using the r word, but calling her disgusting after she had just been violated, over the internet regardless, was probably not the best move. As someone who has been assaulted/harassed both in real life and online, hearing that someone, let alone multiple people, did that to a photo of me would really fuck me up.
@@quarteros profile pics are often images we identify with and see parts of ourselves in, and are indeed tied to our identities because they represent our accounts and therefore us online. the worst part about this is how it actually undermines actual sexual assault cases and how REAL WORLD cases wont be looked as horrible as it is because someones virtual nuts being dropped on your face is considered to be the same crime.
Imagine being an actual victim talking to these mindless weirdos. “Yeah I was touched by so and so inappropriately, scarred me for life” “Dude same, I had someone teabag me in Halo and now I’m traumatized”
This shit is infuriating, imagine someone being sexually assaulted and then having their traumatic experience equated to being teabagged in a video game. People need to open their eyes and lay off the crazy pills ffs
As a sexual assault survivor this crap makes me genuinely wish awful things on people. I know that makes me a butthole but you can't equate having your life ruined at 12 years old to 'oh no, I got teabagged'. It deminishes what survivors have gone through and makes people like myself feel genuine guilt over using certain language because people begin to associate those words with whinney buttholes who don't know what actual sexual assault is. Same with triggered, can't use that word anymore because buttholes used it so much that now you're seen as a awful, sensitive, whinney little b!t
Ok as an *actual* victim of sexual assault, t-bagging has zero trigger for me, much less even remotely similar feelings. This is a whole new level of “feel offended for someone else” even though it doesn’t apply to you at all. This genuinely pisses me off.
I'm a person with a 'weird' trigger and this pisses me off too. This reduces the likelihood that anybody will believe me when I tell them my trigger, which was already *very* low to begin with because it sounds so outlandish on paper but there is so much emotional trauma around it that I couldn't even begin to delve into it properly. People who do this really do not have any ounce of my respect, because comparing a trigger to the actual event it may correspond to is.. wild. Everyone with a trigger (even a 'weird' one) knows that people unintentionally can trigger them, especially ones that can be super commonly triggered. But these individuals who accidentally triggered it are probably not SAers or abusers. I wish people would stop making these threads, whether it be as a joke or they genuinely feel this way. It just hurts everyone they bring into this. There's no winning.
@@AtticusAureliusTrottimus Ahh yes, because it's wrong for survivors to become comfortable with sex/their sexuality. This pains me on so many levels. I am a victim of sexual abuse from my own parent and the amount of trauma and problems in my life that it's caused me has made life almost unbearable, and I am still actively trying to deal with it. When people keep saying these sort of things, it literally feels like they're mocking me and every other survivor/victim of such. We have enough trouble being taken seriously as it is.

I think it's more likely that a person with trauma gets teabagged in game and gets a vivid flashbulb memory of their trauma. It's not an 'initial trauma,' it's a reminder. I can imagine the people in that thread have had very sheltered lives thinking like that. I do hope they stay sheltered to be fair. Because when it really happens irl, you permanently feel less safe in the world, even if you see yourself as a survivor and not someone who is a victim for all time.
It was only a matter of time until people started getting offended over “T-bagging”, but SA accusations is serious and they’re just making light of it by reaching so hard. Pretty sad tbh.

Splitgate has a stat tracker for all your SA's. Disgusting behavior. All jokes aside I think it's a fun idea to promote teabags in a game. Brings a sense of community
I was sexually assaulted when I was 5 years old! I’m still going to therapy about it. I have never felt anyone EVER teabagging me or taunting me is even close to sexual assault. Also, teabagging is like the word F**k. I’ve teabagged teammates for saving my life! Also I welcome teabagging because it just makes it easier for my teammates to find you.
If this person has such a terrible trauma that even an action that could be taken as slightly sexual sets them off, then they need therapy and to avoid most games until they’re on the road to recovery. People need to realise the world won’t cater to you even if it’s a trigger. Especially not strangers on the internet. It’s the persons responsibility to be aware of their triggers and avoid such situations that could set them off unless, again, they’re on the road to recovery. I used to have a trigger that was a very mundane thing. Panic attack inducing. I took steps to avoid the trigger until I could better handle it, now its not so bad anymore. I hope whoever made the thread and all those tho agreed with it and saw a necrophiliac thing with it get help.
I tend not to judge triggers until people demand the world change to cater them. Like, there's the common stuff out there, and that is publicly 'tagged' (Movie ratings, food labels, etc) but I also know people who have very real triggers for niche things such as florescent lights, and jelly. Something you'd never think of, but it was due to an eating disorder that landed them in hospital for a large portion of their life. The lights of the hospital and the jelly they were constantly given, feels associated with the brunt of their disorder. They didn't expect the world to change, they just didn't want to go near that stuff because they knew it'd be bad for their health. I'm sharing more for awareness than anything. Because you've made a great point.
The important distinction to make is that sexual *harassment* is possible in VR, but not assault. At any time you can take off your headset or leave the game. You aren't able to be held in or forced in any way.
I never really thought about it before but this seems to be Charlie's way of ranting. I relate to thinking about something relatively minimal for several days or even weeks and often times the only way to just put it to rest is in my case writing/journaling.
I think they're right tbagging should be replaced, by the deadspace stomp with limb dismemberment. It's far more effective at proving this point that it's merely there to insult you.
As someone who has been sexually assaulted multiple times, shit like this really takes credit away from real victims of assault. It's an absolutely traumatising thing and it changed my life for the worse. I've been tbagged in halo before and that effected me for maybe 5 minutes if I was feeling salty.
I think its also important to distinguish the difference between sexual assault and sexual harassment. While both are terriible things and criminal acts, assault takes it to another level. Harassment of any kind should not be viewed as something the same level of assault. Just like me telling someone to fuck off, while "rude" is not hate speech. (at least in America). We live in a world where public opinion quickly becomes "law" when in reality, just because your feelings get hurt, that does not make an asshole a criminal.
No there are lots of people who say stuff like that deadass, especially minors. A lot of these kids have been swept up by this weird gen z puritanism where nothing bad is allowed in fiction ever or else they’ll whip out the (real) gore and the death threats (against real people) in retaliation.
Nope, sad to say. You'd be surprised how dumb teenagers really are. And I *vividly* remember my own experience. When I was 16, I argued with a Zekrom fan on Gamefaqs. Being one for Reshiram, we made a (long deleted) thread that lasted *3 months*. All in all, never underestimate the youth’s stupidity. Now I see why adults complain about newer generations.
@@RGC_animation Believe it or not, it devolved fast. First, it was about metagame viability, and obviously, Reshiram was better. That argument lasted for a month. As someone who was SA'd, I can't roll my eyes hard enough. "Traumatized," my ass. When you still have nightmares about being t-bagged six years after the fact then we'll talk.

So if I got tbagged in a video game, does that mean the gaming company has to send me compensation with an apology? It's going to soon become a thing now - people who have been tbagged have tbag privilege.

It’s sad how, a lot of times, playing the victim actually helps said self proclaimed “victim” to pay their bills. Unfortunately trends like this don't go away - they grow and get louder and louder the more we ignore them, until some gaming companies finally yield to the crying and remove features that simulate or allow t-bagging. It becomes a punishment for us who are just having a good time - we're the ones who suffer because of the few who can't tolerate our idea of fun.

i play a lot of splatoon, and in at least one game every day i get t-bagged after being splatted. it's annoying as shit and yeah, bad sportsmanship. ive also been sexually assaulted. im legitimately offended that my experience, trauma, a suicide attempt and years of struggling to heal after that is being to a fucking taunt.
I’ve T bagged someone, been t bagged myself, and have witnessed T bagging and I am not traumatized. I guess I’m an enigma, sex criminal, and a victim. For people who don’t know much about video games: T bagging has no sexual implications, it is merely at its core just a character rapidly crouching. T bagging has been a tease/joke for years especially in older games or game where taunting/emoting is nonexistent. Charlie is 100% correct, you cannot compare a traumatizing, life altering, and overall horrific experience with a simple gesture performed by the lesser gamers of the gaming community.
Hell I kinda think it's funny when I get teabagged on the rare occasion I play those kinds of games. I know my lack of experience means I'm inevitably going to suck, so I just embrace it and have a laugh at my own expense lol
I like that Splitgate just embraces the silliness by having T-bagging be a daily objective sometimes and even has a whole mode centered around T-bagging to confirm a kill. lol
The best feeling is after getting owned and taunted you finally get your shine and dominate someone and then its your turn to taunt that person. It makes me feel whole. Like taking back a part that was lost
I was sexually assaulted and suffer from PTSD, I absolutely agree with you. This makes me so angry. Why would anyone compare that to teabagging in a game.
"Why would anyone compare that to teabagging in a game." Because these people didn't go through the horrific experience that you went through, so they have no idea about how serious and damaging such an act is. Due to their shallow pool of real world experience, they can only relate the real-life assault to an in-game inconvenience, that they believe are comparable, but ultimately, aren't. This pattern of thinking and general inability to grasp traumatic events occurs in other "fields" as well, such as domestic abuse, peer-to-peer violence and the like. They luckily never experienced such an act, so they cannot comprehend on how bad it is when it happens to someone else.
in TF2 there's even a couple different achievements based around getting certain taunts off after killing someone and I think there's even one if you take a specific screenshot or get like a specific image in the killcam
Charlie talked about the disrespectful nature of teabagging, especially using it above a player. However, I really like how teabagging became a multipurpose communication thing. You use it to check if someone is friendly, to say "thanks", "come here" and many other, depends on the situation.
what you mean is just the rapid crouching and that has many uses as you said, but teabagging specifically means doing the crouching above someone's corpse.
The teabag serves as a duel function, back in reach, you used it to humiliate you opponent and make them pissed, but in Minecraft its a form a peace treaty
Imagine walking up to a victim of a real sex crime, looking them in the eyes and telling them; "I know how you feel, I got teabagged in Halo:"

It's an absolutely traumatising thing and it changed my life for the worse. I've been tbagged in halo before and that effected me for maybe 5 minutes if I was feeling salty.
I'm sorry you had to endure that...the real assault I mean.
Multiple times what....how old are you and what was the assault

I think its also important to distinguish the difference between sexual assault and sexual harassment. While both are terriible things and criminal acts, assault takes it to another level. Harassment of any kind should not be viewed as something the same level of assault. Just like me telling someone to fuck off, while "rude" is not hate speech. (at least in America). We live in a world where public opinion quickly becomes "law" when in reality, just because your feelings get hurt, that does not make an asshole a criminal.
I'm 90% sure these people have to be on 12 layers of irony with these tweets. There's no way they aren't shitposting right?
@@Starry_Wave to be fair, reshiram is cooler. but wtf did you argue about for three months?? There's no way there was that much content.
@@Starry_Wave What in the world did you argue about for 3 WHOLE MONTH?
@@RGC_animation Believe it or not, it devolved fast. First, it was about metagame viability, and obviously, Reshiram was better. That argument lasted for a month. Halfway, it shifted into their design. Another month in, we still fought about who looked better. The rest became a shoutfest until the guy decided to ghost me forever.

@@amberslahlize7961 I can imagine this in the US. Please don't give people ideas:(
@@meloney Not unless we resist. The gaming community is stubborn, as it should be, but if it doesn't grow a back bone, it wont be any different than any other part of the world...tea time. Not what video games was ever about.
@@amberslahlize7961 I know that we are stubborn. But if we just take a look at Twitter, I doubt that sometimes. It's sad. And I can't imagine what is going through those people's heads. It's... Weird to say the least and dangerous if we're being honest.
Have you heard about the articles of some media's discussing if teabagging should be a warcrime? First time i saw that i thought it was some out of season April fools joke.
It’s sad how, a lot of times, playing the victim actually helps said self proclaimed “victim” to pay their bills. The amount of those lacking in any self morality and pride sickens me, if another real war broke out involving citizens, there will be a shit ton of casualties and little to no one to trust.
how does somebody get TRAUMATIZED from being teabagged in a video game...
"I rushed into the objective building I was witness to countless detached body parts and blood soaked into the walls, but there in the middle of all this carnage was the worst part of it all, xXslayer117Xx was performing sexual acts upon the corpse of one of my former team mates and I was able to do nothing but watch, as a member of the gaming community I hope we are all able to come together and stop these foul people from tormenting our society"
Unfortunately trends like this don't go away - they grow and get louder and louder the more we ignore them, until some gaming companies finally yield to the crying and remove features that simulate or allow t-bagging.
It becomes a punishment for us who are just having a good time - we're the ones who suffer because of the few who can't tolerate our idea of fun.
lmfao great one.
@@amberslahlize7961 Completely disagree. Trends always die out eventually. Might take them a year, or five, maybe even ten, but they're not gonna be forever. At worst, we'll have to just wait for the next generation, they'll most likely get rid of all the current trends, good and bad, as new generations often do.
@@HippieInHeart That's what we called screeching collage students also before all this madness arouse.

I was sexually assaulted and suffer from PTSD, I absolutely agree with you. This makes me so angry. Why would anyone compare that to teabagging in a game.
Stupidity has been very high these years, people can't distinguish Video games from Reality.
Because people today see an insanely huge and unresponsive world, and they have to feel like they mean something
I'm sorry you had to go through and hope you're doing well
"Why would anyone compare that to teabagging in a game."
Because these people didn't go through the horrific experience that you went through, so they have no idea about how serious and damaging such an act is.
They do it because they have no idea what it feels like to really be sexually assaulted and just want attention.
holy man we actually got to the point where teabagging is considered SA. Twitter is just picking on literally every human decision at this point.
@DONT READ MY PROFILE PICTURE alright, fuck off

Charlie talked about the disrespectful nature of teabagging, especially using it above a player. However, I really like how teabagging became a multipurpose communication thing. You use it to check if someone is friendly, to say "thanks", "come here" and many other, depends on the situation.
i think that's just crouching, teabagging is when you do it over a corpse
THE NUTS ARE A VERSATILE TOOL
what you mean is just the rapid crouching and that has many uses as you said, but teabagging specifically means doing the crouching above someone's corpse.
