If Naomi was this comfortable being rude to someone over one word on a public platform because she thought she could get away with it, imagine what she would do behind the employers back or god forbid if she was put in a position of power there. An ex co-worker of mine was laid off during the early 2010s from NASA. Any time I asked him about his time their he told me October Sky was his favorite movie and Homer Hickman was an inspiration to him. Him and I left our company in 2018 getting new jobs. He informed me a few months later he had gotten his position back at NASA.

Tbh I think she half deserved it. She was excited, which is understandable. Her disrespectful comment towards Homer Hickam though was uncalled for. If you haven't seen her other tweets, after losing her internship, she proceeded to say (in summary) "I lost my job because of an old man." Reminds me of a similar incident I think was on Facebook. A family was in a court battle with a former employer and got a huge settlement. The daughter of the family quickly made a public post saying something along the lines of "*COMPANY NAME* is paying for my vacation to Europe!". Unfortunately, one of the terms of the settlement was a strict confidentiality agreement and because of this post, the family got nothing.
So, she's smart and clever enough to get an internship with NASA but dumb, conceited and arrogant enough to call strangers out on Twitter? Got it. I mean, most people would have been ecstatic and posted something along the lines of "BEST DAY EVER, I START MY INTERNSHIP WITH NASA ON MONDAY!" but no, none of that. This definitely is not the person you want handling personal accounts and maintaining company accountability both publicly and internally. The lack of professionalism is absurd. How did she even get hired? Her acting skills must have been amazing to wow the team of interviewers, only to do a complete 180 on the internet where she sought refuge by hiding her true intentions behind text.
That must have been a very educational and humbling moment for this STEM hopeful. This she must keep in her heart and mind next time she wants to write or say something stupid.

I think this shows us two valuable lessons: 1) Don't offend the company/organization that you're interning for or use "inappropriate language" when speaking about that company/organization. 2) Life would probably be better without Twitter. An ex co-worker of mine was laid off during the early 2010s from NASA. Any time I asked him about his time their he told me October Sky was his favorite movie and Homer Hickman was an inspiration to him.
Him and I left our company in 2018 getting new jobs. He informed me a few months later he had gotten his position back at NASA.
Homer's such a great guy. Had the pleasure of meeting him briefly some years back. Absolutely quality lad, and one of the smartest people I've ever heard speak.

Tbh I think she half deserved it. She was excited, which is understandable. Her disrespectful comment towards Homer Hickam though was uncalled for. It not only shows her lack of professionalism towards higher-ups, (Who she doesn't even know the identity of) it shows how she responds to people commenting on her.
If you haven't seen her other tweets, after losing her internship, she proceeded to say (in summary) "I lost my job because of an old man." Despite Homer's warning, she still proceeds to be disrespectful towards him. But afterwards, she apologized which is greatly appreciated from Homer.

So, she's smart and clever enough to get an internship with NASA but dumb, conceited and arrogant enough to call strangers out on Twitter? Got it. I mean, most people would have been ecstatic and posted something along the lines of "BEST DAY EVER, I START MY INTERNSHIP WITH NASA ON MONDAY!" but no, none of that. This definitely is not the person you want handling personal accounts and maintaining company accountability both publicly and internally.
The lack of professionalism is absurd. How did she even get hired? Her acting skills must have been amazing to wow the team of interviewers, only to do a complete 180 on the internet where she sought refuge by hiding her true intentions behind text.
That must have been a very educational and humbling moment for this STEM hopeful. This she must keep in her heart and mind next time she wants to write or say something stupid.

I think this shows us two valuable lessons:
1) Don't offend the company/organization that you're interning for or use "inappropriate language" when speaking about that company/organization.
2) Life would probably be better without Twitter.
Though I feel that second one could be learned from literally any event or conversation on that God-forsaken platform.

I feel like the whole thing is just an unfortunate misunderstanding. I read her tweets as more excited than hostile tbh. I think they totally deserved to lose the internship. They were demonstrating that they were irresponsible in using social media. This can have pretty high consequences in an area where people are exposed to sensitive information, or are now representing the company in the socialsphere.
