I love dogs, cats, and pretty much every animal in existence. I think the issue is that people in that subreddit actually hold dogs to a human standard more than they claim dog owners do. They don't understand that they're literal animals.
It was mostly clean freaks too, not surprised. There's only ever been one person to not like my dog, and he was the biggest, most pain in the ass, beyond all reason type of clean freak. And my dog is literally the goodest boy, well trained and rarely makes messes, never potties in the house. His only sin is being a mammal with hair 🙄

While you're correct all living creatures have a basic 'see nutrients, consume nutrients' instinct as a means of survival it doesn't mean they cant control the amount they consume. It's not like they have no choice because their innate instincts don't allow them one. That subreddit started as "I hate that people don't train their dogs, leash their dogs, clean up after their dogs, or stop their dogs from barking 24/7" but as always, Reddit took some tame and agreeable opinions and radicalized it
I learned from reddit if its mocking, picking on or even criticizing things, it wont be long before it devolves into hateful rhetoric and extremism. Cringe subs are a fine example of this.
Same goes for a lot of subreddits where people share a same view on certain ideas and concepts. r/childfree used to be about people discussing their lifestyle on having no kids and sharing experiences but it turned into outright hatred of "crotch goblins".

I mean Charlie definitely over dramatized these posts. They weren't that aggressive and weren't written in that aggressive of a tone. Some people don't like dogs, a lot of them are really noisy and they do smell. A lot of them are understandable points and I wouldn't end a friendship with someone because they made the decision to get rid of their dog for any of them, assuming they found said dog a decent family to go live with. Cats are much quieter, and sure they shit inside, but so do we. You put the litterbox in the bathroom and clean it every few days to every week and it doesn't smell that bad if you have decent litter. That's about the extent of maintenance for a cat. Cats arguably smell less, and are significantly quieter, and don't leave shit in your yard, so if walking in your yard barefoot is something you wanted to do, I can understand why you wouldn't want a dog. None of those people talked about wanting to kill all dogs and rid the earth of them, they just didn't want to have one in their life.

This is so weird to me even as a person that thought they didn't like (never hated) dogs. Eventually I realized I like dogs, I'm just not willing to put in the energy to take care of them myself. I'll pet the hell out of one though.
Yeah, i call it liking other people's pets. Personally, I like other people's cats, meaning I like petting them and loving them, but I'm not willing to put in the time and effort to take care of them and support them- mainly due to the whole kitty litter debacle. But yes, it's totally normal and ok to like an animal but not be willing to house them.

My grandfather was chased and bit by a dog when he was younger, and not even he is this insane. He's deathly afraid of dogs, getting incredibly nervous when one is nearby and even he wouldn't act anywhere near this
One of my friends has a phobia of dogs. She freezes when a dog’s nearby and usually hides behind me or one of our mutual friends when one’s approaching. But I couldn’t imagine her saying things like that.

I stumbled upon this subreddit today, and holy shit, it's like taking a peak into a mental institution. At least half of everyone on there is convinced that there's like a secret society of dog lovers that are out to get them personally. They collectively refer to dog owners as "nutters" (one of their rules is no bigotry btw). One of their flairs is "Dog Culture", of which posts read like they were written by aliens exploring planet Earth for the first time. Got a case of a bad owner just being an asshole to other people? It's the fault of the dog. They're the type of people that if a bunch of garbage came out about a child predator, and a dog happens to be tangentially involved, they would put all the blame on the dog. Forget that mankind has selectively bred these things for thousands of years to unconditionally love us, all that's just a fluke to them. Like if you're really that afraid or spiteful towards dogs to the point where you can't step outside without having a full blown panic attack, go talk to a therapist about it. When you're not letting them rule over your life and ruin your day, suddenly you can live a more normal life again
Anyways this is how some online “communities” become after a while, they fester. People with delusions cling to these spaces because no one in their real life will listen to what they have to say. Then they hear these other peoples delusions, and so they multiply and become paranoid. This is the exact reason why so many people now genuinely believe there are lizard people infecting the world with coronavirus through 5g towers or whatever the hell. They purposefully only listen to people that share delusions like them.
Even wild cats and dogs will come up to people simply for attention or food. Having a cat or dog as a pet isn't something forced upon them, unlike falconry or exotic pets.

i hate the colour blue. Every time i see it i get so mad and upset. I scroll through instagram and dislike any art using that colour. Once my boyfriend wore a blue hoodie and i broke up with him. A lot of these people seem to really lack empathy. Like, your familys dog passed away. Maybe youre happy, but what about the rest of your family? Your husband and possibly children are probably upset. I cant imaging losing a pet and my mother or partner dancing and instantly erasing all traces of it.
I’ve browsed the sub. People do not lack empathy. They feel sorry when someone’s dog dies, but they’re also rational and can recognize that a dog dying is not the same as a close family member dying.

pets are great. after my family got a cat the cat bonded with my dad and the cat has made my dad and the whole family a lot happier. we named the cat greg and he is the most adorable animal I have ever seen. when ever I feel stressed holding him makes me feel better.

As cats like to observe and have space, and some dogs don't respect that and other times some cats just don't wanna be touched so they might give warnings like the hitting you talked about LOL. My dog and cat, as soon as they met became BFF and never have hurt each other... sadly my dog passed away a bit ago, and so my cat is trying to make new friends with some dogs and cats around the neighborhood, as he's friendly. So it really differs lol

As someone who has cynophobia, I could *never* share my living space with a dog. Making a whole subreddit to hate dogs, going out of your way to downvote pics with dogs in them, etc. etc. yeah that's trash behavior, but I completely understand not wanting to live with a dog. If the boyfriend isn't willing to compromise on that, then he's not a good match to begin with. You shouldn't have to live in stress and fear over your partner's pet that you didn't want. I think the weirdest part of this subreddit is how they always talk about how "offended" dog lovers are when they go on the sub, when they literally made an entire community on the sole basis of hating dogs as if the mere existence of dogs doesnt offend them. Obviously there are normal people on the subreddit, who hate dogs because of genuinely traumatic reasons, like having kids killed or mauled by poorly trained ones, or their cats, even themselves. The amount of people who just hate dogs for no reason though is absolutely absurd and the mix of people who have good reasons to vilify dogs fill their delusions more and more. Whats even weirder is how many of them are convinced more and more people are starting to not only dislike dogs, but vilify them in the same way they do, convincing themselves that everyone agrees with them, its borderline poison to their minds and i hope these people get professional help to stop needlessly hating things, but theyre redditors, so i shouldnt put too much hope in them thinking they might be even a little wrong in their mindless rage and blatant hypocrisy.

You can buy doggy cologne. Groomers use it all the time (our groomer at the daycare/board/training facility i work at included.). You should wait at least 6 weeks. If they get dirty or muddy give them a rinse.

Was bleeding out my ass for 30 minutes at like 8 years old before I found anyone (my friends mom ended up cleaning me up and bandaging me, my parents were drinking in her basement haha). I'm lucky I'm alive. But I don't hate dogs. I won't own a dog because of the trauma does not go well for, I would not be a good dog owner, but I still had dogs growing up.

I don't like dogs. I very nearly lost my life to a dog when I was four, and have been attacked several other times growing up. None of those attacks came from shitty owners, just strays. However, I don't outright hate them. They're just animals and I don't trust them. But I also don't trust a Chimpanzee either. Doesn't mean I want to kill them or constantly vent about them.

So I was bitten in the neck as a child by a dog (my grandma's in fact) and was terrified of them for a long time until my parents got a dog as a pet to help me get over it. I remember literally screaming and climbing up the back of the couch when she first came in the house. But I learned to love her. I learned from reddit if its mocking, picking on or even criticizing things, it wont be long before it devolves into hateful rhetoric and extremism. Cringe subs are a fine example of this.
Same goes for a lot of subreddits where people share a same view on certain ideas and concepts. r/childfree used to be about people discussing their lifestyle on having no kids and sharing experiences but it turned into outright hatred of "crotch goblins".

I mean Charlie definitely over dramatized these posts. They weren't that aggressive and weren't written in that aggressive of a tone. Some people don't like dogs, a lot of them are really noisy and they do smell. A lot of them are understandable points and I wouldn't end a friendship with someone because they made the decision to get rid of their dog for any of them, assuming they found said dog a decent family to go live with. Cats are much quieter, and sure they shit inside, but so do we. You put the litterbox in the bathroom and clean it every few days to every week and it doesn't smell that bad if you have decent litter. That's about the extent of maintenance for a cat. Cats arguably smell less, and are significantly quieter, and don't leave shit in your yard, so if walking in your yard barefoot is something you wanted to do, I can understand why you wouldn't want a dog. None of those people talked about wanting to kill all dogs and rid the earth of them, they just didn't want to have one in their life.

At least half of everyone on there is convinced that there's like a secret society of dog lovers that are out to get them personally. They collectively refer to dog owners as "nutters" (one of their rules is no bigotry btw). One of their flairs is "Dog Culture", of which posts read like they were written by aliens exploring planet Earth for the first time. Got a case of a bad owner just being an asshole to other people? It's the fault of the dog. They're the type of people that if a bunch of garbage came out about a child predator, and a dog happens to be tangentially involved, they would put all the blame on the dog. Forget that mankind has selectively bred these things for thousands of years to unconditionally love us, all that's just a fluke to them. Like if you're really that afraid or spiteful towards dogs to the point where you can't step outside without having a full blown panic attack, go talk to a therapist about it. When you're not letting them rule over your life and ruin your day, suddenly you can live a more normal life again

A lot of these people seem to really lack empathy. Like, your familys dog passed away. Maybe youre happy, but what about the rest of your family? Your husband and possibly children are probably upset. I cant imaging losing a pet and my mother or partner dancing and instantly erasing all traces of it.

As cats like to observe and have space, and some dogs don't respect that and other times some cats just don't wanna be touched so they might give warnings like the hitting you talked about LOL. My dog and cat, as soon as they met became BFF and never have hurt each other... sadly my dog passed away a bit ago, and so my cat is trying to make new friends with some dogs and cats around the neighborhood, as he's friendly. So it really differs lol

As someone who has cynophobia, I could *never* share my living space with a dog. Making a whole subreddit to hate dogs, going out of your way to downvote pics with dogs in them, etc. etc. yeah that's trash behavior, but I completely understand not wanting to live with a dog. I think the weirdest part of this subreddit is how they always talk about how "offended" dog lovers are when they go on the sub, when they literally made an entire community on the sole basis of hating dogs as if the mere existence of dogs doesnt offend them. Obviously there are normal people on the subreddit, who hate dogs because of genuinely traumatic reasons, like having kids killed or mauled by poorly trained ones, or their cats, even themselves. The amount of people who just hate dogs for no reason though is absolutely absurd and the mix of people who have good reasons to vilify dogs fill their delusions more and more.
Whats even weirder is how many of them are convinced more and more people are starting to not only dislike dogs, but vilify them in the same way they do, convincing themselves that everyone agrees with them, its borderline poison to their minds and i hope these people get professional help to stop needlessly hating things, but theyre redditors, so i shouldnt put too much hope in them thinking they might be even a little wrong in their mindless rage and blatant hypocrisy.
