Well this video is extremely timely! I thrifted a blazer and needed to take it in. I was puzzling it out and came across this. Thank you! I'm subscribing now. Keeping the pieces and laying them on the other side of the jacket - GENIUS! 😁
Your voice is so calming, and combined with sounds of sewing is absolute harmony!
:)
By far the best video out there on resizing a blazer. And thanks for explaining how to identify L/R sleeves after taking them out!
Really complicated job, thanks for step by step instructions. The other alteration videos I found don't have linings to contend with, and my jacket does.
Jessica Hothersall your welcome!!!! Have fun sewing!!!
I love this video over the others because the audio is very chill. It puts me to sleep. But also because of the cool blazer.
cullidge woohoo 🙌🏻
Young lady! Thank you so much for this video. So much easier to understand.
I am so happy to hear that it helped!! :)
I am so excited that I found a video that explains it so well! All the other videos are like "take in the arm seam", but then you end up with a smaller sleeve that doesn't fit in the armhole so i'm like: ?????, anywho, thanks!
inMuro how did your jacket turn out !?
loved the whole video. I wish she could guide me whenever I'm working on a project
Drew Jung come hang out in Chicago & take a sewing class with me 🎀🙌🏻💕
Thank you for the video. I have a jacket I was considering altering myself. Now I know I should just pay someone 😬👍🏽
If you ever want to give it a try I would say buy a jacket from the thrift store to practice on.
@@SewAnastasia thx, I had an old jacket I was gonna practice on but wow.............that seems like it's on a level I'm nowhere near! If you ever do classes in STL let me know
HI, could you please explain how you finished sewing the lining after you sewed the sleeves back in?
I would also like to know. Thanks
hello.....
Yeah finishing detailes are not talked about
Thank you for so much for this video. Why did you baste the sleeve before attaching?
You baste beforehand because the sleeve is bigger than the sleevehole, so you have to ease it in there. Basting lets you control the ease to make it even and control the shape of the sleevehead.
😊Hello, I have watched blazer arm off, and blazer adjustment on. Question. The arms are baggy on all mine. The blazers slope off shoulders, and I have a large tummy. I have a new machine, so I am teaching myself how to sew with thrift items.I don't know what should concentrate on. Sleeves, shoulders, or unknown. I am the fur vest lady. That wasn't a thrift purchase. You are a wonderful teacher. I would love lessons from you in the future.
We can set up a private lesson anytime.
I watched all of your videos yo! 🥰
Ha. That is awesome!!!! You are soooo ready to start sewing everything now! Thank you sooooo much for watching. 🎀❤️
Great video, clearly explained and follow. Would have been nice to have seen all the steps that you done to complete in completing the alteration. Can this process be done on a man's jacket?
Yeah. this is an old video I did on a whim one night. Thanks for watching sew anastasia!
I learnt a lots of things by jut looking you
It was really awesome experience
I wish i will work with you someday ❤️
super helpful video- thanks so much! I wish I had a manakin to use too
Drey Vyenielo your welcome 🎀💕
Super helpful and easy to follow! Thanks for this!!
Your welcome 🤗 thank you for watching
Would pay double for the perfect fit you achieve. Great video!
Awe thanks so much! :)
Great video! I feel sew much more confident about this project now! I felt like I was coming apart at the seams before....lol, jk. Great video tho😊
Great video!! Do you think I could use this method to get a women’s size 14 blazer down to a size 8?
Kelsley Broomfield yes!!! Did you try? How did it work out?
Just a tip: always work on the Inside of the Garment, NEVER on the outside. if you draw a line on the outside and you make an ''Opsie'' then you're left with an awkward line on the jacket. whereas if you did it on the inside, then it's less embarrassing..
great tip!
After you take the sleevesout (other than marking them right and left) how can you tell which is which.?
If you fold the sleeve in half and look at the cap pn the sleeve one will be scooped out more. That is the front of the sleeve. This will be the opposite on the other sleeve and this will give you the right and left sleeve.
Tenny. Lyons u can put a choke R for right and L for left 😁
Where did u get the arm forms or can u make them?
How do you get your hair so shiny? Great video, omitting the music next time would be fab. :)
Marielle Lopez hummm I’m not sure 🤔 about my hair. It’s just the way it is. Did you try out altering a blazer? How did it work ?
Love how you describe everything. Subscribed.
May I ask where you purchased your mannequin? I've seen that one floating around in some other youtubers' videos and I really love it. Was it by luck that it is your size or can you order them in your own size? (I have a rather small frame, especially in the shoulders) Looking to upgrade my sewing space in case you can't tell! I found a brilliant coat at a thrift store (ankle-length, black wool) for only six dollars! I couldn't pass it up and I'm really looking forward to tailoring it and I may even replace the black lining with something opulent and flashy for those windy days!
Link for ruler and chalk marker that you used? :)
No idea. I am sorry. I am sure you can get them with a quick google.
Thank you for sharing this.

Excellent video. Do I have to take in an even amount either side of a side seam? My jacket here hangs nicely at the front but the back hangs off and down of the top of my back and there is far too much material at the lower back. I have an 11 inch drop from chest to waist. So I was thinking of taking in the side seams, but only reducing the material on the back panel. Would this work?
seahawkjase no you do not need to take it in an even amount on each side. Do what you need to do to balance the jacket on your body.
Sew Anastasia great! Cheers for the reply. I did a shirt earlier doing that and worked great. Can’t wait to have a go on a blazer. Can never get anything to fit out the shops so got a sewing machine yesterday. More fun than I thought. I’ll check out your other videos.
seahawkjase that’s great you bought a sewing machine! So many more sewing adventures will be had!
Omg you are so cute 🥰
💗🎀😊
Great video. And wow you are super cute.
Awe thank you . You are too sweet
THANK YOU 💜
Your Welcome!
Please explain how I shorten length of this
Excellent! Thank you!
Awesome video thanks mam
Motto Mona of course! How did your jacket turn out?
Hi Anastasia, Tailors don't use a stitch ripper, they use a straight blade. The kind men used to shave with before the disposables! You have to be careful, but wow it is sooooooo fast!
Momzilla Yeah for sure! I use one of those too! It works sooo good! I don’t recommend it for my beginner sewers though.
Would be good to see the original jacket worn, next to the tailored jacket.
Great video
Vegan Will thank you :) did you try it ?
Everyone on UA-cam is teaching how to downsize the sleeves kindly make a video on tight sleeves tooo... i love my jacket bt the sleeves r too tight i can't lift my arms...
I've never done it with a jacket with lining but Making the sleeves looser is a bit trickier, you Have to find a fabric that either matches or compliments your jacket and the jackets lining because you have to add it to the sleeve buy seemripping the sleeve lengthwise and while it's inside out sewing the strip of fabric to one side of the existing sleeve, then pin the fabric to the other side to make sure it fits ok, then sew it and turn it right side out. Then you have to cut the jacket arm hole to fit the new sleeve and sew it back in
Good explain
Motto Mona thank you :)
Great video. I just find the music in the background really distracting and annoying
Ok sooo
Very nice mam
Motto Mona thank you :)
Can anyone else not hear her over the music?
Delicious!
Freezer Dweller thank you! 🎀
Would you consider lowering the music volume a bit, or not playing music at all? You give off some serious ASMR vibes. I don't mean this as a criticism, only hope you will see how you could cater to multiple audiences and possibly grow your channel. I came here for the tutorial and ended up having asmr triggers, lol. Just wish the music wasn't there!
You're funny
Horrible tailoring
Thanks for watching!
Looks too small and does not have shape sorry.
andy10515 it’s ok! We all like different fits. 🎀💕🙌🏻
I keep having to rewind to actually learn because your body is SOOO distracting. Can't even focus right now lol.
Nathaniel Woerner lol 😂 how did your jacket turn out ?
