    Well this video is extremely timely! I thrifted a blazer and needed to take it in. I was puzzling it out and came across this. Thank you! I'm subscribing now. Keeping the pieces and laying them on the other side of the jacket - GENIUS! 😁

    Your voice is so calming, and combined with sounds of sewing is absolute harmony!

    By far the best video out there on resizing a blazer. And thanks for explaining how to identify L/R sleeves after taking them out!

    Really complicated job, thanks for step by step instructions. The other alteration videos I found don't have linings to contend with, and my jacket does.

    I love this video over the others because the audio is very chill. It puts me to sleep. But also because of the cool blazer.

    I am so excited that I found a video that explains it so well! All the other videos are like "take in the arm seam", but then you end up with a smaller sleeve that doesn't fit in the armhole so i'm like: ?????, anywho, thanks!

    HI, could you please explain how you finished sewing the lining after you sewed the sleeves back in?

  • @blacbea
    @blacbea 4 роки тому +2

    Thank you for so much for this video. Why did you baste the sleeve before attaching?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  4 роки тому

      You baste beforehand because the sleeve is bigger than the sleevehole, so you have to ease it in there. Basting lets you control the ease to make it even and control the shape of the sleevehead.

    😊Hello, I have watched blazer arm off, and blazer adjustment on. Question. The arms are baggy on all mine. The blazers slope off shoulders, and I have a large tummy. I have a new machine, so I am teaching myself how to sew with thrift items.I don't know what should concentrate on. Sleeves, shoulders, or unknown. I am the fur vest lady. That wasn't a thrift purchase. You are a wonderful teacher. I would love lessons from you in the future.

  • @brotherunlimited7000
    @brotherunlimited7000 3 роки тому +3

    Just a tip: always work on the Inside of the Garment, NEVER on the outside. if you draw a line on the outside and you make an ''Opsie'' then you're left with an awkward line on the jacket. whereas if you did it on the inside, then it's less embarrassing..

  • @TennyLyons

    After you take the sleevesout (other than marking them right and left) how can you tell which is which.?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  7 років тому +4

      If you fold the sleeve in half and look at the cap pn the sleeve one will be scooped out more. That is the front of the sleeve. This will be the opposite on the other sleeve and this will give you the right and left sleeve.

    May I ask where you purchased your mannequin? I've seen that one floating around in some other youtubers' videos and I really love it. Was it by luck that it is your size or can you order them in your own size? (I have a rather small frame, especially in the shoulders) Looking to upgrade my sewing space in case you can't tell! I found a brilliant coat at a thrift store (ankle-length, black wool) for only six dollars! I couldn't pass it up and I'm really looking forward to tailoring it and I may even replace the black lining with something opulent and flashy for those windy days!

    Excellent video. Do I have to take in an even amount either side of a side seam? My jacket here hangs nicely at the front but the back hangs off and down of the top of my back and there is far too much material at the lower back. I have an 11 inch drop from chest to waist. So I was thinking of taking in the side seams, but only reducing the material on the back panel. Would this work?

    • @SewAnastasia
      @SewAnastasia  6 років тому

      seahawkjase no you do not need to take it in an even amount on each side. Do what you need to do to balance the jacket on your body.

    Hi Anastasia, Tailors don't use a stitch ripper, they use a straight blade. The kind men used to shave with before the disposables! You have to be careful, but wow it is sooooooo fast!

    • @dovahchick
      @dovahchick 4 роки тому +1

      I've never done it with a jacket with lining but Making the sleeves looser is a bit trickier, you Have to find a fabric that either matches or compliments your jacket and the jackets lining because you have to add it to the sleeve buy seemripping the sleeve lengthwise and while it's inside out sewing the strip of fabric to one side of the existing sleeve, then pin the fabric to the other side to make sure it fits ok, then sew it and turn it right side out. Then you have to cut the jacket arm hole to fit the new sleeve and sew it back in

    Would you consider lowering the music volume a bit, or not playing music at all? You give off some serious ASMR vibes. I don't mean this as a criticism, only hope you will see how you could cater to multiple audiences and possibly grow your channel. I came here for the tutorial and ended up having asmr triggers, lol. Just wish the music wasn't there!
