    I bought a Hardy Ames Saville Row Tweed jacket for the equivalent of $10 that fits perfectly, except the shoulder pads were way too big, once removed the shoulders hung over my shoulder by about an inch and a half, followed this method exactly, now I feel like the jacket was tailored just for me. Awesome video.

    I think its fantastic that a young man like you does tailoring as a profession. With the exception of large fashion houses like Christian Dior, I thought tailors were a thing of the past.
    With regards to this quick video tutorial, I really appreciate it. I have two classic silk blouses from the 80's which I love except for the shoulders and I hesitate to remove the pads for fear of a droopy look . Thanks to you, I can now approach this issue with confidence, fix it, and make these blouses part of my wardrobe. :0)

  • @regineuhe6657
    @regineuhe6657 4 роки тому +3

    thanks. This is how they show it all over YT and looks ok for half an inch. But I think this method makes any jacket look cheap and badly tailored once you want an inch or more off each side. I was looking for a "real tailors" way of shortening shoulders, not just taking off the sleeves and cutting the armholes (which just pulls up the sleeves in an awkward way ) but where somehow the collar seams are opened as well, I believe - so that the sleeves , front and back will fall nicely after reducing fabric like they did before... I would love to see a good vid on that :)

    • @grandmajane2593
      @grandmajane2593 Рік тому

      When you cut material off the shoulder it causes the armhole opening to be too large. So the sleeve needs a little adjustment too. The sleeve should be taken out of the jacket body to acomplish that.

    Dang bud, you make it look too easy! Got a thrift jacket last week. Sleeves fit funky so I am gonna try playing with it a little and starting with taking out the shoulder pads. Jacket may not work out in the end cuz I think the arm holes are just too big from factory. Jacket pulls pretty hard when I move my arms forward or up. Thank you for posting these tutorials!

    Gotta try this out. I have a ton of sport coats from thrifting that I simply don't like the fit of. I'm a bigger guy (fat not strong) so the coats that actually fit me tend to be bigger In every way. They look more like they're from the 80s with large gorges, heavily padded shoulders, and extra long sleeves.
