thank you making this video, I love vintage blazers and the patterns, i hate to let them die to time and have saved some but could never wear them, now I have the chance to after seeing your video.
Thank you! I have a very hard time finding a blazer that fits, and in the plus size world they kind of expect you to wear a shapeless sack or something with tacky flash stuck to it. It will be good to use this to find something that fits my largest measurement and take everything else in for something that actually fits and looks professional.
@ 0:53 the before. @ 8:02 the after. Awesome... @ all of it. Thx for showing this is doable. Might (aka won't) try this with a blazer I've lost too much weight to wear properly. thx x2
What a fine a gentile lady . Blazers are a small hobby of mine . I don't know much about sewing , but i understood the video , what a good result with that blazer . Maybe an advice : if you are so agile and creative with clothes , why not start your own shop or even your own label . Making a future of a passion is never perceived as work . Erwin , Belgium .
This is awesome! I'm not really a fresh beginner, and still learning.. I've been asked if I can take in a friends hunt coat for her horse shows.. I've wanted to do the same for my extra skinny daughter, but didn't know how to and was nervous because these jackets are a bit pricey.. I am now confident I can do this.. Beside I can always refer back to your awesome video for help!!
This video can save you $25 or more. It is extremely helpful. If a person learns how to alter the coat, sleeve length, waist, and pant length. They can save $100+ in tailoring cost.
This is exactly what I need! I have a beautiful blazer from Black Milk and its too 'boxy' so I've never worn it. I'm going to follow this video and get that beaut of a blazer on my bod! Thank you so much. :-)
Paul Gowler Maybe it is hard to understand because she uses sewing conceptions that beginners usually do not use, and also it is a jacket with two layers of fabric and many seams so it might be confusing. Maybe she needs to explain the conceptions she uses more in other videos, tho it is easy to forget when you are so used to only use those conceptions without explaining them. Only talking from my experience. I might be tottaly wrong.
ive have seen some negative harassing speech towards you in asking you if you were stupid or to re-watch the video again and negative comments. how very rude. If you arent experienced as some are it doesnt mean you are stupid. the video is fast. the video doesnt show inside the jacket under the lining as she was using chalk to rub against the seams that were pinned form the outside. she marks it with the piece of chalk then takes out the pins form the outside of jacket . the opening at the bottom of the lining gives you access to the inside of the jacket seams. turn the jacket inside out thru that opening. sew the jacket seams then sew the lining seams then return the jacket right side out. all seams are pressed dont cut off edges of any of the seams. then sew the bottom of the ling back where you opened it.
I am a beginning level tailoring student in my own estimation still. I have been looking a various web-based and UA-cam tutorials on the subject for about a half year and trying to replicate the results. I absolutely would not have understood this when I started out. "Beginner" lasts for a while in almost any skill worth having. I'd go look at some other videos and come back later, Paul.
I don't believe I subscribed to a sewing channel. Lol. I just tried this on my old jacket and my wife loved it. Could you do some videos on mens clothing? Thank you so much for sharing!
Twenties male here. Looks great! I just bought a nice blazer but it doesn't fit well. I am going to take it in with help of my mother. Never done this, but I like everything creative. Thank you for the video!
Hi Florinda, It is really difficult to pin by yourself. Best advice is to wear the jacket, eyeball how much you may need to take in. Take off and pin when laid out. Keep trying on jacket until the right fit then sew. Hope this helps! x
Thank you so much for this tutorial! My daughter needed a blazer tailored. I can follow a pattern, but alterations are not my strength! This was so easy and her blazer looks fantastic!
first i fold the suit, the fold it some more, i do that, fold it for 5 minutes then, i sew, then i fold and fold and fold and stick needle here and fold some more fold fold and then boom a tailored suit

Exactly what I needed! I’m broad in the shoulders and arms and large chested...but narrow waisted...this is perfect!
Jesus!! If you didn’t catch it he first time, rewatching it helps. This is the best altering video on UA-cam as of now.
He?💀
Love the video. Could you do a video on how to remove shoulder pads from lined jackets and adjust shoulder fit
I appreciate you SO SO SO MUCH! I'm nearly finished tailoring my jacket thanks to you!
I just used your tutorial to take in my blazer and it worked like a charm! I’m a newbie with the sewing machine thanks so much!

Oh this was great thank you! I’m always so small so a lot of blazers I buy are always a bit big in some areas.

Very clear instructions and easy to follow. Thank you Subscribed.
Thank you so much! I have a cashmere blazer that is WAY too large for me and I haven’t wanted to pay to get it tailored. This looks easy enough!
Thank you for making this video. I never knew how to alter a coat.
This is incredibly helpful! Thank you for such a clear tutorial.
Excellent job! I'm watching because I have a couple suits I need to taper before Russian Christmas and Easter holidays. I really want to look good.
Will you please do a video on how to take in a blazer with a slit in the middle? My blazer has a slit in the back ( middle). Thank you 😊
In the works! xx
Great tutorial! Exactly what I needed to know. 😊
Are you sure this is "super beginner friendly"? I have no idea what's going on...

Thank you for this! Do you have advice for how to do the pinning on a jacket, when it's just you, by yourself, trying to pin the back?

Thank you so much for this tutorial! My daughter needed a blazer tailored. I can follow a pattern, but alterations are not my strength! This was so easy and her blazer looks fantastic!
Can you explain what you mean a bit more on "going from nothing to nothing?" Thanks!
Going back to the original seam. So she cut off a small half moon ish piece of fabrics only in the waist.
What sewing machine would you suggest for a beginner!!! Thank you
A home "Brother" machine is always a favorite.
Thanks! I really appreciate your videos:)
did you sew both of the lines you marked out on each side of the seams or just one of them?
