An enormous thank you for this video. I've been looking for something similar for YEARS. I really want to get into Gothic 2, but found the control scheme to be a bit agonizing. Now I'll be able to enjoy this classic.
Just saw this video and totally agree. Since the first time I played this game the keyboard-only option was the one that felt natural to me. Nowadays people may find it strange and choose the one they are familiar with but they are missing out.
I always thought it was cool that you can only attack 1 opponent at a time. All this swing your axe and hit 5 enemies at once bullshit only happens in movies.
Meh... I kinda disagree here. The best controls in my opinion are Gothic 2 controls with mouse. The G1 left and right swings always felt like cheating to me. It's really quick and you can just stand and spam it and nothing can get through if you can keep yourself facing the right way. With the G2 control scheme you have to learn to dodge with the backstep and learn to time your combos in relation to the enemies attack patterns.
thanks...im a bit late to watch the vid just so are you with the guide LoL ,i've decided to give gothic 2 a try because i liked the third one (so much hate at it tho lol) but i heard that 2 was the best.so here i am :P
question: WHY? why turn on gothic 1 controlls? why turn default control on? WHY?- you cant just make a video "beginners guide" and just say do this and do that without reasoning. This is useless this way.

Use mouse if you want to get advanced in combat

How do zou swing left or right? I cant find it in the settings

Gothic 2 is the best of the series, gothic 3 is good only with mods
The should've added a third option for "Gothic 1 controls"
