I always liked the skeleton army. Summon dozens of skeletons -> Raid a farm -> Woman in the kitchen sees what's going on -> Woman grabs her frying pan and charges at the skeleton army: "There's another one of those pesky things!!!" -> Woman dies in 1 hit.
I remember when i visited the Mine Valley after becomming a mage. Biff wants to duel me and I send him to hell with a fire rain. Unluckily i killed the other Dragon Hunters as well. xD
I'm glad that magic is a viable form of combat in this game. I was worried this was one of those RPGs where it has magic but it's not as effective as regular attacks.
Well, magic is awesome and op there.. if you have enough mana. It gives you advantage in various situation where melle fighter or ranged are in trouble... Main one I see in fighting groups.. later on mage have powerfull almost oneshot spells that affect an arrea, but fighter have to take all one by one(or using scrolls but they are rare to find and costly to buy)
This video is just showing chapters 1 and 2. I'll probably make 2 more one for chapters 3/4 and another for 5/6 and those will show stronger spells and stronger enemies

@@Milka-br1xw I only started to fight orcs once i got 4th circle and learned the Lightning rune. After that it's a lot of kitting the orcs and chugging mana potions so speed potions and Hasty Herring (You get them from Samuel in the Pirate Camp) help a lot
I hope you mean rain of fire, not a firestorm, but still it has nothing to do with the mage class, you can have fire rain rune at the chapter 5th and 6th circle, so its almost end of the game, before you need to use scrolls just same as other class, so you can do fire rains in the orc camp exacly the same way as a mage, militia or mercenary
@@MrZiva82 Not really. There are a few Demon Summon scrolls [I think like 6-7] so easily you can buy/find enough of them to kill all 4 dragons and also do a rune with no problem.

In G1 is mage much stronger than in G2 (stronger fire spells with burn effect for less mana), in chapter 2 you can learn circle 4 and gain firestorm and you needn´t anything else.
Killing the Bandit at the cave door with Cavalorn is stupid. You get exp by warning him about Cavalorn, then you gain exp by warning him again about the farmers. If you have done the latter, he will go to where Cavalorn is, and they will fight. For maximum Exp, you can kill him then, but if you have a little bit of humanity in you, you wait till Cavalorn changes positions. He will then remain at Cavalorns position till the end of the game. In my headcanon, he became the new Black Mage after he moved into Xardas Tower after Gothic II.

I always really enjoyed how lively Khorinis is. Never killed the sheep at Xardas tower either. In my headcanon, the Bandit sacrificed it to summon a demon.
Other good mana items are : ring of magic (+5 mana), ring of astral power(+10 mana), amulet of magic (+10 mana) for a total of 25 free mana always usable
Sleep in a bed or use plants that regenerate mana until you loot a lot of potions or have enough money to buy them. My last magician playthrough I ended the game with like 300 mana potions still unused.

Yeah, but they suck ass for 2/3 of the game so you summon bunch of goblins and then run around like an idiot. "Best" thing about NOTR: none of the runes available to us by chapter 4 is powerful enough to go through the defence of dragons.
it sadly doesn't matter you can get all the OP spells in chapter 1 as a scroll swamp dragon has 2 companions, for fire and ice you can bring biff so you technically need only one summon demon, shrink monster, army of darkness etc. scroll to kill the stone dragon
Well, I remember when I tried playing a mage, the game wouldn't let me acquire any good runes prior too the third chapter or something. I had to go to Minental with fire arrows and on the way back face the hooded guys that were spamming fireballs. It was possible to beat it but there was nothing enjoyable about it and felt like a massive drag. And yeah the whole game is kind of riddled with grinding. I'm not a big fan of TES but they don't have that problem. In Morrowind, if you know what you're doing you can tackle the toughest enemies on first levels
1. He obviously didn't waste a single LP on fighting skills so all he did was a pure mage build. First get mana to 29, then learn 5 point to 34 (after having 30 point one mana costs two LP, so you're saving some of them) do the same thing when getting to 59, 89 and 119 mana. But before that when you become mage you need to learn first level of rune magic which costs 5 points, then learn to make "summon goblin skeleton" which costs 10 points. After that buy magic staff from Gorax that gives you 20 mana when equipped. Summoning goblin costs exactly 20 mana, and there is a bug that gives you 20 mana every time you unequip and equip it, so free goblins for you. Now with a bit of effort you can kill EVERYTHING on Khorinis and get 19 lvl. Upgrade your mana capacity and try to help water mages to get to Jarkendar. When you get there one of them will teach you frozen lance spell which is better than fireball. To use it you need to have second level of rune magic which you can learn after completing first chapter. Basically whole build is increasing your mana capacity, using magic staff for free mana and goblins. In third chapter learn the freezing spell, freeze seeker make him lose almost whole hp and let him die while he's frozen (by damage over time). Using this method you can loot their spells and save a lot of LP. Do it with skeleton mage too. (Well you can do it first with a skeleton mage because he has that freezing rune so just use a scroll and you'll save another 10 points). And for the job, the best choice is Harad, because you can just make swords, equip them, and sell them. This will make swords just unequipped so you can repeat that for infinite gold. Also learn how to make mana potions you will use them a lot later. And after getting to like 124 mana points learn ancient languages, read stone tablets, drink perma mana potions and eat all small dark mushrooms (every 50 eaten gives you 5 mana). Congrats probably now you have over 400 mana and you can learn some offensive spells which suit your playstyle and become ultimate war machine. P.S. if you're new i would rather start with a one handed warrior. Gothic can be a tricky game and mage has the hardest beginning.
Playing mage is the hardest way, mage is the weakest class, the strongest build is dexterity with bow and 1h swords for dex, you can also train strenght to 34 to make melee hits harder. I am experience player so you can trust me
and dont try to play warrior class as a mage because mage has the worst armor in the end of the game, which is :100+100+50+50, while normal class have 150+150+100+50

So even without the strenght you will hit good enough you also can train strenght to the 30-34 while its cheap
Shame that everything you will do in chapter 2 as a mage is way easier as a melee (except for Trolls ig because goblins are hard counter). Also magic sucks ass against Seekers and Stone Guardians. Mage is only truly overpowered in chapters 5 and 6 - that are like 15% of the whole game.
You killed bloodflies,scavenger and lurkers as a mage? oh and snappers and minecrawlers wow thats so impressive... simple orc warriors are too strong for the goblins so they has been killed by Diego who can do it for us whatever profession we choose so it has nothing to do with the mage profesion, sory but what that bullshit is about? There is no single point to tell that mage is good, and you said it is OP? have you ever played other professions? Try agility style, 1h+bow, thats what op means, but even strenght patch with 1h or 2h is much better
Dude mage in chaper 1 is a bit weak but after learning fire rain and wave of ice it's just ridiculous. You can pull all orcs in chapter 4 and kill them with two-three spells.
@@Venakis1 dude fire rain is chapter 5 and 6th circle, you can use spell of fire rain and kill whole orcs around the castle with 1 spell scroll but it has nothing to do with the mage, everyone can do that, even guildless
@@Venakis1 anyways I played whole game as the mage and if you get 6th circle you should choose wave of death instead of fire rain, its much more powerfull, damage is dealt few times so it could be 1k or 1,5k damage not only once like fire rain, but still its almost end of the game when you get 6th circle, its just right before Irdorath. From the positive side of mage I could tell that as a mage I have done Irdorath quicker than with other profesions, but before than its long and hard way

@@Skorpion1991 nothing stops you from doing a dex mage with about ~60% in bow ~30% 1H and master sword now the usually hard first two chapters are a walk in the park and you can fall back on master sword or bow for easy to fight enemies you get about 300 mana from permanent bonusses so you don't have to invest heavily into mana

Become a mage, learn how to do potions, collect all the ingredients for strenght potion, end up with a strength value around 140.

The summoned demon can easily defeat a dragon 1:1. Army of darkness is as good.

I think you can get up to 300 mana from permanent bonusses too
it looks easier than it actually is! One problem is that the rune needs 20 Mana and if you use it often mana potions might get sparse
