The long awaited metro cum elevated road which aims to cut down traffic jams at the Silk Board junction in Bengaluru is finally ready for inauguration.
DH gets exclusive access to drive from Ragigudda to Silk Board, before the flyover is open to the public.
Will this new double decker flyover make the commute to Electronic City easier? Will it reduce the traffic snarls?
DH’s Udbhavi has all the details. Watch the video to find out more about this new flyover.

woahh!!! soo excited for this 😂 Can't believe my life now revolves around the dream of the opening of this flyover ✌😅👀
So true even for me
This flyover will soon take the traffic congestion to HSR and all the way till Marathahalli and further. The situation today is already worse with even the slow moving traffic in the Silk board junction (entire stretch - even before ragigudda metro). It's going to be a nightmare once silkboard to ragigudda flyover is open - while the situation today is already worst.
In my view all A, B and C ramps will hold vehicles on flyovers (like any other flyovers)
Issues are bad road conditions and worst conditions on flyovers after HSR.
Road humps must be removed, minimizing the deviations that can be taken by vehicles competing for service lanes.
Bus and any other vehicles stopping to be regulated on either side of the flyover (all flyovers).
Route buses must be regulated - not to ply on these busy areas, waiting for one to five passengers causing issues for thousands on the road. Instead private bus association may arrange one bus to pickup all passengers to a common point instead of each private bus owner plying individual buses waiting for passengers - while all participating in traffic and no one moving.
Request DH to review these comments carefully and publish so that the authorities take appropriate action.
We are commuting to work regularly - irony is commuting itself has become a big work.
Why there is a race between BMTC? Who is setting race as a goal between buses while their goal must be to carry passengers only. Why all bus stops are in a spot causing other vehicles to wait causing jam?
Note: Straight roads will help move the traffic easily. If uneven roads are built and left for usage, each vehicle takes turns in a degree that causes problems for traffic movement. Better to tie a rope, make the narrow road available for a long distance instead of allowing 45 to 90 degree deviations! Simple engineering that many are not trying to solve - though easy instead of building infrastructure which causes more and more issues all the time.
🤣🤣
As if silk board doesn't already have flyovers. Hebbal traffic is not even 20% of what silk board traffic is. Bullshit comparison.
😅
Unpopular opinion: I have faced worse traffic at Hebbal even with all the flyovers then at the Silk board junction.
Now imagine if that fly over wasn't there at hebbal
not an unpopular opinion at all. Both are equally infamous 🥲
Id rather be in silk board than hebbal 😊

100% Agreed. Your points are valid. But none from Deccan herald have replied to your comment... i hope someone relays your message to authorities.
Honestly speaking Silk board junction is improved from what it was few years ago.
Government/BBMP and media as well should now focus on Madivala to Nexus/Forum Mall signal, as this is notorious during peak time and takes around 40mins to cross. Also Hebbal flyover as well (from airport to City). During peak times, takes around 1hour or more to just cross the flyover.

Why are you crying instead of appreciating what is being done. There is metro also coming up on that road which should further help reducing the traffic.
People are using 2w to commute instead of 4w even though they can afford unlike west. That reduces lot of traffic. The main problem with this junction is it obstructs free flow of traffic which this flyover aims to solve. Hopefully, people use metro for commute when ready. Last mile connectivity should be included in metro ticket.
100% correct, capacity planning is poor
You're right the problem is that this will encourage people more to use this and people will get stuck up and down aswell
If u r not a civil engineer pls remember that while designing they do the traffic surveys and consider a factor to cater the future traffic..so no need to worry

While this is a great improvement over the existing conditions, Deccan Herald ( @DeccanHerald )should do a video to highlight the atrocities of the private & public buses who stop to pick up passengers at the beginning of the Hosur Road (near to Silk Board junction) leading to Electronic City. Even at 12 in the night there are jams caused by these buses who stop most of the times middle of the road leading to traffic jams and at times I have witnessed people fighting over to pass these buses. Wonder why traffic police department & media is giving a blind eye to this situation.
Obviously because they dont care. They know nobody will question them. As soon as somebody questions them, there will be many idiots who will ask them to go back to their state.

We can conclude that building more roads doesn’t solve traffic problems. It will only make it worse due to induced demand.
@@chowdarypothula4233 those coming from agara lake should have signal free ride at the silk board. And from silk board to banashankari the entire route needs to be made signal free. For all the crossings and signals in that route there should be option to use fly over or to get down from the fly over. Coming from E-City side, there’s no up-ramp to take Ragigudda flyover. This represents a missed opportunity and a failure in design. Without this connectivity, congestion at Silk Board Junction persists.
There is free left turn hence they might have not considered ramp
True, even after designed this much big flyover, they missed ramp down/up between Silkboard and ragigudda. A very bad design, or not thinking holistically.
I think there is a ramp up right before Silkboard metro station after taking the free left at silk board
India has free left turn on major roads and it's no brainer to have up ramp
It's there in the design in front of the silk board gate or just after silk board metro building via btm

The emphasis should be on public transport. Unless citizens don't show interest in public transport and keep traveling in their own private vehicles, no flyovers will help. One bus can remove around 20 to 30 vehicles from the road it plies on. Imagine the impact of just 10 buses.
The government should push people to take public transportation as the primary means of commute. With Metro line almost ready, the government should now think about point to point accessibility. Shared auto/cabs, car pooling and more importantly private buses should be allowed to operate. If women are allowed free bus rides through out the day, I don't think there is going to be much harm in allowing free bus for everyone during peak 2 hours in the morning and another 2 hours in the evening in select routes only.
Amazing construction hopefully ease traffic congestion and help people to decrease stress and pollution!! Nice presentation 😊
Hopefully it doesnt collapse on itself like many wonderful infrastructure we have.
Bangalore has the best of busses within city. Only thing they need to improve is frequency and timetable. No other state has so many busses for public transport.
People just want to show off their cars on the road. Especially IT employees go to office in a suv while being alone. Then complain that they have too much traffic. If all employees go to office in 2 wheelers or pool(Indian sentiment will not allow this) this will reduce traffic by 30%. Some companies do not provide cab facilities as well as it is cost for them and bad for business. I can take names of such companies if someone challenges me. Also, WFO is made compulsory atleast for 3 days. Whereas before lockdown also these companies didn't have any fixed WFO days. There was no restriction before on how many days you work from home/office. I think people from govt are forcing companies to make this rule. Collaboration is all bullshit that these companies make up. I know a lot of them who just go to office, swipe and come back. This will just increase revenue for govt. Vehicle registration, rent, property taxes. Growing city= more investments= more options for corruption= more slaves. I have no shame in telling that Bangalore will be home of the homeless and rowdies in future.

Excellent report ! And you have such a beautiful smile 😊.. Pleasure to watch your report 👍
Instead of new bangalore n 3 more ring road, the Congress wants only old bangalore.
they will squeeze another 2+ crore population in this same old bangalore.
uther nonsense n newsense.
God please make it soon❤
Very much. Coming from outside Bengaluru last week, i left at 5 am so that i cross this junction. While entering i took 3 hours to reach Hennur Road from Electronic City.
Beautiful , coverage.
Useful information by the speaker hefty thanks to the bridge engineers who had deployed the prestressed techniques worked day and night toiled hard which had translated into reality which is there to see for everyone kudos to govt of Karnataka this double decker technology will reduce the traveling time of the bridge users
Hey DH Team , Consider covering the Mayhem/Jam at Balagere road - Limbavali Underpass. It is a huge issue impacting a wide number of population living in Varthur, Balagere Road..
I have my colleagues commuting using this Flyover and they feel much relieved
Amazing!!!
That intro was great😂😂😂😂
Execulent coverage well done
It already has worked wonders 😁
You guys amazing❤
nice one DH! Surprised that no ramp for entry from BTM towards ragigudda....the ramp from hsr to btm seems redundant at the same time....time will tell...and ofcourse like few have already pointed it out, ragigudda and banashankari signal will be the new bottlenecks
Hope the traffic will improve
Definitely it will help in reducing traffic congestion. Waiting to open.
This helps, nice video
Hi congrats for making a excellent video which is very informative. However even though the the travel time gets reduced to few minutes between Raghigudda and Silk Board, it will be a big bottle neck at the exit in both sides.
What a beautiful host ❤

Good news for the builder
Good coverage. Now it's clear after your report about Double Decker. Other wise I was new person. So fully confused. How is Double Decker
The anchor is cute though! :P
Informative video
This is great!! will help reduce the traffic below for people travelling to Madivala from BTM.
BTW can the BMRCL take over the Ejipura flyover 😀?
Great News 🔥
Reporter❤👏
Yes it really helps and reduces traffic load in CSB junction
I can go meet my friend from HSR sector 1 to Ragigudda in minutes, which usually takes 30 to 40mins now.
As far as people have self disciplined driving culture , no bridge or double decker can help the state! 😂
Looking similar video for panathur underpass road problems and solutions
So many negative comments. Lets be optimistic 🙂. Been working in Bangalore for 15 yrs now. The people influx is insane. The city was never built for so much people. Lets support the gov and do more from our side also. I see people going to office in innova with just one person driving. Lets do our bit and push the gov to do faster work 😊
Government doing very well banning carpooling apps (yes that was sarcasm). People are negative because whatever little we get in the form of civil infrastructure is late, over budget and misses one or two things.
Roads are a mess across the city with drilling work constantly ruining good roads. Flyover roads have potholes. Sarajapur Junction has no flyover for traffic going from silk board to marathahalli, so genius traffic policemen opened a lane on the flyover coming from marathahalli to silk board... which is slower than the lower level traffic going through the sarjapur signal.
I travel every day through silk board lol it's just another hour of my day gone lol.. I am used to it now
Diverting traffic to Marathahalli, Well done!!
Also am in good agreement with Mr. Sharat Ramachandra's and Mr. Viswas Parameshaia's genuine observations.
Very excited
I didn't know that Bansankari to Silk board metro line has as road as well.
Informative video 🎉
As of now it will help modestly to my commute from ecity to bellandur
I hope all 600 series BMTC will use this ramp to turn right at silk board towards Hosur road .. during peak hours the jam often goes for 30mins+
I think I saw a height restriction barrier, so buses won’t go on the flyover.
today there a huge jam in front of the ecity ramp.. the design should have had a ramp directly connecting to ecity fly over.. i think traffic will only increase
