I like how straight to the point this video is. 5 mins says alot unlike others who take 30 mins to say nothing.

@@Tortoise020 omg I remember how anxious I was during that phase… I was also binge-watching all the ALT videos I could find 😭 For me, I compiled and sent whatever I could in one email, then sent whatever’s left as soon as I got the documents I needed!

@LisaLostInJapan girlll the anxiety is just killing me 😂but thank you for the information, I think I am at ease now ☺️...if it's okay could you also maybe make a video about this process, it is hard to find it on UA-cam, most people just brush it off....

@ I made a video in the past with my timeline on each stage of the process, but maybe I’ll make a more detailed one in the future!! It was a loooot of waiting and uncertainty, I only relaxed when I got on the plane to Japan 😭

I did watch that actually ❤was good information but I guess my worry comes with 1. Hotel bookings before arrival
      • is the company responsible, if yes, do they send you the address of your hotel.
      • do you get to meet other alts
      2. Where to get the SIM cards ( upon arrival)
      • what happens if your phone is not compatible with the SIM card (locked)
~ hopefully other alts can gather around here 😂so we can be of emotional support 😂😢.... sorry for any inconveniences ❤

@ Ooh let me share my experience! So if you have the same company as me, they will pay for your hotel for the duration of your first training. But everyone will have to check out as soon as that training ends, so if your apartment is not ready to check in yet, you will have to book and pay for a hotel yourself in the meanwhile. For me, I had to pay for a night out of my own pocket.
You do get to meet other ALTs at the training! And you’ll have one more training some time after moving into your apartment where you get to meet other ALTs in your area, including the more experienced ones!
For SIM card, I chose Sakura Mobile because I could pay for it online from my own country and pick it up at the airport once I landed, so I could get a Japanese phone number + internet right away! Some other ALTs went with other carriers though, maybe Mobal? I didn’t research so I don’t know if they have a pick-up counter at the airport…
Shoot me any other questions you might have, I totally get how you feel rn!

Guys, its not that easy to get the job... I failed in last interview... and I have been trying for long.... If you are native English speaker you have a very good chance but for others... it depends on luck as well

I remember seeing your comments in jack in Japan, and I felt sad when I saw that you didn't get it, but you helped me prepare for my mock lessons just by following up your comments, I am non native so I guess luck was on my side, but gambatte...I believe in you, try again this year❤

Hi Lisa San! I’m Italian and lived in the UK for 16 years, with a tax statement to prove it. I obtained my diploma and bachelor's degree in the UK. Additionally, I completed a 120-hour TEFL course online through a UK-based company. Do you think I could bypass their expectation of having 12 years of education entirely in English?
I’d only want to work in Kyushu, as I really dream of living in Fukuoka. Which agency would you recommend? I’ve spent hours looking online, but I’m a bit confused.
Also, is it normal that Borderlink asked me to send a video? Is there a way to request a live video interview instead?
    I apologise for bothering you!

@@a.e.4896 Hi! From what I know, the 12 years of education with English as the medium of instruction is one of the conditions to get the instructor VISA to get into Japan… It seems like there are rare cases where the company doesn’t ask you for proof, or where they ask you for different documents instead, but you’ll have to see how the company handles your case 🙁
I’m currently working in Kyushu under Borderlink, and they are known to hire people from all kinds of countries, so it might be your best shot! Not really sure what other companies there are in Kyushu though, sorry I can’t be of more help!
Hmm, what kind of video did they ask you to send? Maybe you could send the video, and also write that you would love to be given the opportunity to speak to them through a video call as well. Wishing you all the best!!
