UFF DA!!! That's my great grandmother's pattern!!! I doubt she made it up, but that's the only pattern she would crochet. And she called it Ripple. I have 3 of her afghans still and I was named after her. She grew up in Norway and migrated here when she was 19. I adored her and love her strength and silly sense of humor! She also used the ripple pattern to make round flat pillows. Thank you again for putting a big smile on my face! Love Ya!
I have samples my grandmother made. They didn’t follow written patterns back then but made them up, taught each other and kept samples. Some of the samples are the patterns we use today. They were amazing women!
I just finished making this! I used a lace weight light gray silk yarn and a 3.5 mm hook, and it looks so ethereal and gorgeous. Thanks for making such an easy to follow tutorial!
I have been knitting for over 11 years now and have FINALLY picked up a crochet hook and began learning how to crochet these past 2 weeks. I've made an infinity scarf and a hat. I will definitely be making this shawl.
I’ve previously and unsuccessfully attempted the foundation row. But you’ve explained it and shown the process in a way that I think I can do! I’m forever battling the effects of a brain injury so sometimes things come easily and sometimes I end up throwing my project out the window. Figuratively. 😂 Thank you for demonstrating this!
I've got a king sized bedspread that served my husband and me well for DECADES -- and I mean at least 35 yrs in this stitch. The funnest part of it is that it is an acyrlic yarn. Made it when I was in my 30s!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. I have successfully completed (2) scarfs/shawls with this pattern. It was lots of fun and easy. Again, thanks
Chandi, wow!! Again so appreciative of your patience in sharing, teaching & demonstration. Thank you sooooo much. It’s the way I learn through your great demonstration. You always have a positive energy. Now I’m compiling your design & I’m going to start crocheting. I also bought the needles today. Got the spools😘🤗🙏
Just finished my shawl for my mum in this pattern! Thank you for writing such easy yet beautiful patterns and doing easy to follow tutorial videos on your channel! Thank you so much! Really happy with my project. 😊
Thank you Shandy for this beautiful tutorial ! You are a wonderful crochet Teacher ! I love so much the colors of your yarns they are gorgeous and your crochet and knitting works absolutely stunning ! 😊💗
ok, chevron pattern as I know it, as it is I can read pattern to save my life so I rely on tutorials and most of them are super confusing until now! makes total sense when I see your tutorial and for that I thank you so much! besides, you are sooo cute!! Thank you for sharing this amazing shawl and your talent of explaining so well! gracias!!
If one can, budget for high-end yarn. Which comes at a higher price. But is hand dyed and spun! Personally, if I want a time piece and spend hours on a project, I budget for higher end hand crafted yarns. Good Luck!
Just finished and blocking it now. I'm so thrilled with this pattern. I used malabrigo rios because I bought the yarn before the pattern... and I'm a new-again, still beginner. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Thank you and I'll follow for more 🥰
Beautiful shawl. I love the yarn you chose and an easy 1 row repeat can’t be beat. ❤️ I laughed at your ending...”ripple” will be in my mind all day lol. Thanks for this pattern.
Yeah it's friday and it's my Sunny Shandi day !! What a beautiful pattern and so easy to make ^^ Have a shiny week-end my dear friend love you so much. Hugs and kisses ^^

Thank you! I have always enjoyed your work. And I keep on trying your method of knitting with scarf, hats and other small projects but end up using my old ways. I always enjoy watching you and your different projects 😊 thank you
What a fun Friday video! Beautiful easy crochet pattern, wonderful tutorial by the amazing Chandi , and lots of laughter at the end…. Love it 😍🤣 Blues Clues word of the day- Ripple lol 😂🤣
Thanks for the Super easy and gorgeous crochet pattern. You guys make me laugh with the bloopers; you guys are definitely super cute and fun couple. Have fun 🤩
For those wondering, the pattern is still free. Just go to the link in the desc. and just fill in whatever fields there are. Since the PDF pattern is the only thing you're trying to get, you don't need to be worried about detail things. It was really intimating for me but it turned out alright! Try it. Don't miss the chance at good free patterns.
Beautiful, Chandi! 😸 Just lovely. Color of the yarn is so pretty too. Lol! You sure did have your possibly camera person laughing. 😹😂 It was funny just hearing the laughter. Sure did make me smile 😁👍🎉❤️
Thanks! The weather is a washout this weekend up her in Massachusetts but we have 2 indoor parties to go to so at least it will be fun! Then heading to sunny Florida at the end of the week! Road trip! Yay! I’ll be watching your Friday video on the road!🤗🤗
I just happened on your channel love your attitude and what you say about yarn exemplifies my love of it. New subscriber . Now to order stitch markers...
I absolutely love the simplicity of this, but as a beginner, I would suggest telling how many counts of double crochet you started with to be able to follow the pattern exactly.
Hi Crystal, have you downloaded the full pattern yet? You can find the link it in the description box below the tutorial. I'm attaching it here as well: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/undulation.html This sample starts with 66 foundations single crochets. I hope this helps! 💕
I love how you explain. I am an absolute beginner with knowledge of a few of the stitches. These shawls are so beautiful but I have to see completely thru to complete. I haven't mastered reading patterns yet. I stared the half moon circle n it's beautiful but I don't know how to make it bigger either:(
Thank you as always for a wonderful pattern. I am hooked (no pun intended :) )on your shawl patterns. They are all beautiful. Love your presentations too, so happy, vpositive and inspiring
Hello from NYC! And thanks for your video/tutorial on this gorgeous shawl! Watching your video has made me want to start crocheting! So I can’t wait to start! Also, I read through all of the comments here to make sure no one asked you this same question, about your nail polish! So, if you don’t mind my asking…what color/brand is that sparkly glittery gold nail polish? Thanks!

Starting on this tonight as a Christmas gift for my sister, I’ve been promising her a crocheted scarf/shawl forever!
That's wonderful! I hope she loves it. 🧡
That was hysterical the way Tim lost it in the background!!!
😂🤣😂🤣😂
I love that it's just a standard ripple that I think we ALL did when learning...
I have been knitting for over 11 years now and have FINALLY picked up a crochet hook and began learning how to crochet these past 2 weeks. I've made an infinity scarf and a hat. I will definitely be making this shawl.
Yes! I'm so excited for you! 💕
I have been trying to make this stitch for years without success. You make it easy to follow and your voice is so pleasant to listen to.
