Unrelated but pretty cool. Rock Island Auctions posted a YT video of a very sweet, transferable Stoner 63, with all the fixin's, that's going up for auction in Dec.
Hello Big Pete, Good info on the QD sling attachments, also on the differences in mil-spec vs. commercial buttstocks. I had read that the hole for the buffer tubes was larger on the commercial stock but was not aware of the visual differences. There is another company that makes the QD attachments, Impact Weapons Components. They make one for the M4 and Magpul MOE stocks also. They're anti-rotational as well. Here's the SLU# SQDRLBS, if you'd like to see it. They have a variety of accessories, including one for Magpul MOE handguards. That's another nice rifle you have there, Pete. And I thought you were an A2 man only, with the M4 you recently built! LOL! Thanks again, Pete and I'm looking forward to your next build, maybe an M16A1 or the XM177E2, as you mentioned recently. Have a good day, Pete!
Thanks for the QD swivel info! I think I remember hearing about Impact Weapons Components. I'll definitely give them a look! A2's are probably my overall favorite. I have a little of everything including modern and old. Even threw in a couple of LR308 builds just to torment myself but no A1's yet! I need to fix that! Been looking at the C7 H&R uppers at Palmetto.
@@peteregger7928 Yes sir, I saw your .308's and the detective work you did in solving the feeding problem with the one. Good work! My barrel is coming this week from Brownells, I mentioned to you. I want an A1 gray build, but PSA is out of the A1 gray uppers, although they have the C7's in stock and they're out of the A1 gray lowers. They have black A1 lowers, but no black uppers. I thought about just going black, because as they say, once black, never back! J.K. Dirty Bird had black A1 uppers for $79.99, then up to $89.99, probably the regular price by now, $119.99. Their description says Type 3 Hard Anodizing to match most A1 lowers, I'm not sure of that. Everywhere I check for handguards, A1 stocks, A1 birdcage compensators in Manganese phosphate finish, it's out of stock! Retro's must be the going trend, now! Is your A1 or XM177E2 build going to be black or gray? I really like the 653 on H&R's site. It's gray also. Thanks, Pete!
@@John-zf5wc Seems there has been a lot of mention about the gray offerings being very inconsistent in finish and color. Even though it would be less accurate I would go with black. If you want anything new Palmetto is about it. I use their receivers because the Government markings are the most accurate. I don't use their completed uppers or lowers because the FSB's are often installed canted and I just about never run a Milspec trigger. I don't use their BCG's either! Had problems with those a few years ago. Palmetto State Armory = "Out of Stock"! Lol! New old stock A2 butt plates are become scarce and the correct NOS A2 metal trap doors have disappeared. I'm starting to notice a lot of stuff that was available at Fulton Armory is no longer being offered as well! The retro craze has hammered the market for both A1 and A2 surplus and NOS. A lot of the new reproduction stuff especially furniture is junk! Starting to get a little sporty that's for sure!
@@peteregger7928 Yes sir, I like the H & R lowers with their markings. The uppers look nice to me also. So, you'd not recommend the Dirty Bird upper? I just saw on AR15 Discounts a 20" gov't. profile barrel phosphate finish for $149.99. The price is only good for 3+ more hours. FSB installed, no slip or delta ring & springs. I saw your vid where you said you'd bought all Fulton's metal trap doors & maybe butt plates too. They're gone now, I looked last night. How are the Luth A1 handguards? I kinda like the A1 stock with the roll pin holding the sling swivel, for some reason. Thanks for the reply and information, Pete. I'll stop bothering you now, I just love hearing the best options! Have a good one, Pete!
@@John-zf5wc I don't know anything about the Dirty Bird offerings but just their name has possible implications! Lol! When I bought my stripped A2 upper from JSE Surplus I emailed ahead of time to find out where it was machined. After they told me it was Double R Armory out of Conroe, Texas I was able to do some investigative work and determined that they were probably OK. Turns out other than a very minor gas tube opening issue (excessive anodize) it was a quality piece. Machining and anodize finish overall was very good! I always buy my barrels stripped and have had two FSB's installed by Retro Arms Works. It will be perfect and the barrel will be returned exactly the way you sent it in! No new marring or scratches. A recent exception to buying stripped was the M4A1 16" SOCOM profile barrel that I got from Brownells and the FSB was straight! Took me hours to clean the barrel from whatever they used for proof testing! It was definitely proof tested! Barrel was full of embedded copper and some weird black streaking! Turned out to be a very good barrel after cleaning. The borescope I purchased from Teslong has more than paid for itself! The Luth A2 handguards from their picture looks to be the same as what Fulton Armory sells and are complete junk! Don't know about any of their A1 stuff? H&R 20" A2 hand guards from Palmetto are very good but their carbine is dimensional crap and looks to be made by B5 but at a huge mark-up! It's unfortunate that so many manufacturers and retailers in the firearms industry knowingly sell absolute garbage and often times it can be very dangerous stuff to the less experienced builders. Don't worry about bothering me! I'm on YT to share what I know and learn from others! You might have noticed that I'm not monetized or trying to make money off of YT in any capacity. I only make videos and share what I have personal experience with! Have a good one John!

Looks like you've tried them all. I just don't get why commercial tubes were even made. Some manufacturers are building QD hole into waffle stocks, but I don't think any are non rotational. I've run a sling through the slot like the old Viking Tactics did years ago. Which was not bad if you don't mind it staying attached to the stock. Thanks for showing us.
I've seen the newer M4 style with the QD in front of the lever. Thought I'd show a couple of the options I had on hand for the USGI Milspec version because of where the slot is located. I have not had issues with QD's failing but I'm easy on all my stuff. They do add the potential for a failure point though either through wear or operator error. Hello again, Pete. The A1 stripped upper receiver I mentioned the other day was actually from AR15 Discounts, not Dirty Bird Industries, although I read somewhere they're both owned by the same person. It's still on sale at AR15 discounts for $89.99. I still haven't received my 20" A1 barrel from Brownells, but I received an email saying it will come today. I've been told it's been delayed numerous times over these last few days. It was sent by the USPS, for some odd reason, that's gov't. efficiency, I guess! I was glad to hear the barrel you purchased from Brownells had the FSB installed in line! I ordered a Ruger 10/22 Trump model and a BSA Sweet .22 scope from PSA for my wife's Christmas present. The rifle arrived at my FFL dealers yesterday, but my background check was delayed, of course. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all! Then I received an email from Fed-Ex stating my scope was delivered Sunday, Nov. 24, at 03:47 Pm. to my front door. As luck would have it, it was not delivered. I was on my porch during that time building two gates for the porch. I've alerted PSA and Fed-Ex, so, maybe they will get it resolved. LOL! PSA is still showing OOS on all A1 uppers and lowers. I thought about getting the AR15 Discounts A1 upper and a XM16E1 PSA lower in black, but I really want the A1 lower. a good day, Pete!
Fedex has done that to me so many times! UPS likes to deliver after about 9pm and USPS is a whole different can of worms! Sounds like a fun gun for your wife! I'll have to check out the "Trump" model. I forgot to mention it in the M4A1 build playlist videos but the SOCOM barrel I got from Brownells was 4150 steel. Most reputable barrel manufacturers use 4150 chrome moly vanadium but every once in a while you'll run across 4140.
