@@ibrahimsawaya6654 Getting ready to start on it again! Temps are finally cooling off enough for me to start crawling around in it again. Got a couple of hours left on the wiring. Go back and double check everything some fluids and then start it!
When you have the time, Pete, you should write a letter to WC and refer them to your videos. 3 out of 3 makes me wonder if WC's "spec" Congratulations on a great A2 build, Pete
Thanks Gary! The TDP specifications I have are for the M4/M4A1/M16A2/A4 drawing and shows 27 coils at .926" free length. If WC or their supplier is using some other spec then at this point I would say it's wrong. They list their phosphate BCG's as "MilSpec". The BCG springs in question have all been replaced with some older Sprinco's I had that all measured at just over MilSpec by .010" at about .936". I have just purchased 9 more Sprinco's and they are coming in at exactly MilSpec which is .926". I suspect they would want the BCG's back but after fixing them myself... ? The last one of the three was purchased from Primary Arms that had the same problem was just a few weeks ago. If they spot check their own inventory I don't think it would take them long to start finding some bad ones that don't meet their advertised claim of MilSpec. I haven't reached out to them but maybe I should. Thanks again Gary!
I started out with the inserts and o-rings. I have removed the o-rings from all three new WC's. so just the inserts now. Two of the newer WC's came with the o-rings installed and one was not installed. They all came with an extra o-ring in a small zip lock. The rims of the brass are no longer being chewed up as a result. I have come to believe that for a 16" or longer barrel with an appropriate gas length system and extractor in good shape they are probably not needed in most cases. At least with mine anyway. My understanding is the o-ring was introduced for the shorter military 14.5" barrel M4 Burst/M4A1Auto after getting some military failure to extract reports from the field. Not sure if they were used later on for the M16A4. None of my older late 80's/early 90's A2 style AR's had the o-rings.
@@peteregger7928 I've heard of the 'O' ring fix for the shorter barrel before, makes sense. We all appreciate watching you work, Pete. They're all great lessons. Keep them coming.
Both of them are working great! Pete, I heard you say the medium contour barrel is a Criterion, but I didn't hear you say what the standard A2 barrel was. (You may have, but I didn't hear it.) What brand is it? I am going to do an A2 build as soon as I can find a good barrel that matches my upper, which is a Rock River with M4 feed ramps. I used a Windham barrel on an A4 build several years ago, and it is great. But every barrel they list is "OOS" at the moment. It is hard to find a decent barrel with an A2 front sight tower with M4 feed ramps!
Thanks David! They are running great now after the WC ejector spring debacle! Criterion Hybrid and a Criterion A2 Govt. profile. I've been wondering about Windham Weaponry being "back"? I'm starting to think the new owners just bought all the old stock and when it runs out they will be gone again. Anything that matters has been out of stock since they claimed they were back in business! I've been wanting a 16" HBAR non-M4 barrel to do an old Colt CAR 15 Retro similar to an original I purchased back in the early 90's which I still have. Windham was one of the few places that offered it before they closed their doors the first time. All of their barrels have been out of stock since the new owners and that has been a long, long while now!
@@peteregger7928 I think I'm going to have to order a Green Mountain stripped A2 barrel, and have Retro Arms works install an A2 FSB on it.
