I’ve had both of the same problems just changed glow plug #7 and now dealing with the same coolant sensor
Yup, common issues on these trucks. Sad to report my coolant level sensor is already starting to act up again. I just replaced my cylinder 5 glow plug last week. Overall I still love the truck, just annoying to have these little things screwing up.
GM in it's infinite wisdom and logic. Why in the world would they counter thread the coolant cap. It's not like there is rotating shaft that would call for it. When I saw this on my truck I thought WTF WHY!!!
My only thought, is by making it left handed thread, it will hopefully make whoever is trying to take the cap off actually THINK about what they are doing, and not accidentally put the wrong fluid in there, like brake fluid, or DEF, or something else. The DEF fill is very close to the coolant reservoir and would be CATASTROPHIC in the cooling system.
@@MohawkMotors On another note. I had the low coolant message pop up so I watched your video. I went out to check the level after it cooled and found that the cap was not on all the way. On my cap there is a place where it seems tight but if you keep forcing it the cap will pass the tight spot and fully lock in place after another 1/4 turn. Hopefully that will solve my problem.
Fingers crossed for you!
Thanks I have the same low coolant issue with my 2003 gas 4.3L Sierra, no complaints, it has 194K miles and otherwise runs great.
Look at those beautiful seats behind you at 0:07. Saving them for something special?
They're actually really nice seat covers on a decent set of mismatched seats. They ere in another truck I have (video coming next week hopefully) that I swapped out for a matched set of original seats.
So are you saying the low coolant is caused by glow plug? Or egr? Didnt get time to watch
Neither, it's a common issue with the coolant level sensor that is made into the coolant reservoir.
anything new on duramax?
we are having the exact same DTC- low coolant/ #7 glow plug.
Not yet. More coming soon though!
I’m reading about a second coolant tank ?
Yes I believe in 2018 or 2019 model year gm added a second coolant tank for the DEF system. I;ve read about problems with those as well.
The good tires always go on the rear! Look it up. Very common misconception…
In all applications? Front wheel drive? Rear wheel drive? All wheel drive? I did ask google and it did pop up a recommendation from tirebuyer.com to put the better tires in the rear of the vehicle to make it more stable and less prone to washing out. I suppose for a lot of people that don't know how to recover a vehicle if the rear end loses traction that makes sense. The article also said that it's much more common for people to lose control of the rear of their vehicle than the front, which maybe the general population has had much different driving experiences than I have. I would have way more trouble recovering a vehicle that I couldn't steer, than I would a vehicle with the rear end swinging out and potentially spinning out. Heck most of the time I swing the rear of my vehicle out on purpose.
With the tire I had a bad valve stem, drove me nuts
I've had that happen before, super annoying
Do you really need the truck to tell you when the coolant is low? I mean for the last 40 years none of my others have. If you want an easy cheap fix to get rid of the light just pull the wire connection off the sensor and make a jumper between the wires or snip the wires and twist them together. Done in 5 minutes.
No I don't need the truck to tell me if the coolant is low, but I don't like the low coolant light coming on and I prefer not to have wire jumpers and stuff like that on my vehicles. It wasn't that expensive or difficult to just do the proper repair. Plus I still have the secondary warning that should something crazy happen like a coolant hose burst or a piece of debris cut one and drain the coolant nearly instantly, I'll know about it before the engine even starts to overheat.
Cant for the life of me find the radiator cap on the newer 2021 Silverado 3500... 😂
lol
There is a current extended warranty for your glow plugs and it’s covered under the manufacture warranty for 100,000 miles
No kidding, I didn't know about that. I'll have to see if I can get the dealer to fix it.
They wouldn’t fix mine, said it wasn’t covered
your wasting your time, its still the same old design, they never changed a thing. i just unpluged the sensor.
Sounds like new batteries are in your future.
Yeah, they're the original ones to the truck so they're reaching the end of their lifespan.
Link to that tuner mod?
Lots of options and places to purchase them from.
