Thanks so much for this helpful video review, Kai! I JUST picked up the Canon EOS R6 Mark II from Adorama this week! Can't wait to unbox and begin the adventure! All my best to you for your photography :) !!
I got one at the beginning of August. It took a while to get tuned in to it after using D/SLRs for so long but once I did, the af is phenomenal. It’s not miraculous but the hit rate compared to my 1DX ii is a little higher and the eye tracking makes shooting sports like gymnastic much easier. The image quality is superb too. The rolling shutter distortion is a pain but in instances where it might an issue, such ball sports, the mechanical shutter comes into play. Overall an excellent camera body. 24mp is plenty.
@@OnlyAmv90 You’re very welcome. I plan to purchase more of the budget friendly RF primes. I have the RF 50mm f/1.8. The adapter EF 50mm f/1.8 looks just as good. My adapter has the built in variable ND filter cartridge. The EF STM 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 works great
Great video! Are bath cameras mirrorless? I shoot as a hobbyist with a 6D, should I wait till after the new year to look at the mark ll as the prices are drooping?
Yes - both the R6 and R6 mark ii are mirrorless. Prices may drop on Black Friday / cyber Monday and the lead up to Xmas - so keep an eye out 👍 6D was my first full Frame 🤩
Currently looking into the R6 mk2 upgrading from my almost 10 year 70D. The only point that is kinda annoying me is that i don't have a top display to see the settings which the camera is set to.
I just bought one this week! The likelihood of Canon upgrading the camera beyond my needs is minimal. Heck, my other cameras are a 5D Mark II and the EOS R. I wanted the R6M2 because it finally has all the features I wanted which the R lacked, plus the mechanics of the body are more similar to the 5DM2. No longer do I have to miss the rear scroll wheel and I don’t have to cuss out the wasted space occupied by the R’s scroll bar. I’m tempted to keep the R as it actually produces excellent photos and videos but I may sell or trade it for a new L series RF lens. I use the “cheap” RF primes now and an adapter to use my EF “L” glass which I can’t get rid of because the 5DM2 is staying with me. It’s not worth any real money anyway plus it’s in perfect condition.
Ah yes... the R's Scroll bar 😅LoL... Great point of view in this comment. The 5DM2 is a great little camera! I recently sold my Mark iii (it was in great condition) but I had it sitting in a draw for over a year with my Mark IV and EOS-R (which I'm too reluctant to get rid of just yet) The R6 mark II certainly ticks a lot of boxes on my list. I wish it had a slightly larger sensor like the R, but apart from that it's a great all-rounder!
@@KaiCreative the megapixel downgrade from 30 to 20 kept me away from the original R6, even though it was an upgrade in nearly every other way from the EOS R. However, the R6M2 improved even more plus gets the 24 megapixels so I didn’t have any more excuses. However, Canon makes a claim that the 24 megapixel sensor in the R6M2 is somehow better than the 30 in the R. Not sure how that works but I’d certainly watch your video if you decided to make one to determine how valid the claim is!
I have been really unhappy with the build quality of the R6 and that puts me off mark 2. I am a pro and use it to shoot real estate and commercial editorial. The body is v weak and I’ve had the hot shoe break, the casing dent and the scroll buttons become not as responsive. Compared to my 5D Mark IV it’s felt like a toy. That said, the image quality is good and the hybrid functionality v useful. I often have to film interviews and footage for corporate videos. As of Sept 2023 I need to replace an ailing R6 and I’m fluctuating between an R5 or a Sony. The R5 is due an upgrade and I’m not sure how long I can wait. The Sony would at least let me adapt my Canon lenses. The R6 ii could be the right option IF the build quality was better than the first version
A very interesting perspective- I personally haven’t had these issues with my R6 but I do treat it like I’m handling a baby sometimes 😅 I remember taking my 5D MarkIV with me all over the world - throwing it around on planes, trains, up mountains and for conferences for photos and filming - it’s such a tank! Since the pandemic shut that down I haven’t had the same experience with my R6 ( I wonder if it would have broke by now?) it’s been used in the office and studio carefully placed in its padded carry bag and a few local shoots. The R5 mark ii is rumoured to be coming out early 2024 so might be worth holding out to see what’s on offer - I’m stuck waiting for that or the R5c as I’m looking to upgrade soon too 🙏
The body is not weak. In fact the camera is very well made and that’s from someone used to 1DX and 1DX ii build quality. Typical of some people they attempt to pass of their opinion as fact.
Can you think of anymore reasons why you would consider an R6 mii... Or a few more why you wouldn't? Lemme know down below 👇

Got one in April. Awesome camera!

Just got mine 🙌🏾
I’m also adapting my older EF & EF-S lenses.
Is there a quality drop when using older lens with the adapter?
@@OnlyAmv90
Nope. It actually improves a couple of them.
@@lb7144 YES! I was worried about that but thanks for clearing that up.

I also have the Mark 1 kit lens, EF 24-105mm f/4 (L). It works well also.
Just picked up an R6 II last week. Had an R6 before. Top quality camera in this price segment.
to be honest I think your video has motivated me more to buy a full frame camera thanks for this video kai you are the best!
Enjoy Victor - I love how you are evolving with your style in your photography and videography - look forward to seeing more of what you create

Thanks for the video . The r6 mark 2 is made in Japan ?

Wow the 70D - despite the top display, I think you will love the upgrade 🫶
I’ve been thinking of getting this or the r5.. I’m mostly shoot portraits, cars, product, landscape and videos and I want to do this as a profession
If you wait the R5 mark ii is rumoured to be coming out first part of 2024 🙏 might be worth the wait 👍
It’s going to be too expensive and the upgrades will be wasted for what he wants. Indeed wait for the R5 ii and then buy a R5 when the price crashes.
Short and Bullet Points Mentioned by U about R6 M2 , Nice Review
1.Does mp matters ? & 2. Sony a7M4 vs Canon R6 M2 ?

compared to R5C which is better i am planning to buy on this 15th super confused
The "no recording limit" is bullshit. You get about 40 minutes in 4k 60fps etc. It's only possible to shoot with no limit at lower frame rates.
