Hi Barbara, like you I loved my job and even at retirement age I was not ready to retire. Then COVID came and my husband and I were encouraged by our employers to retire instead of trying to work from home. A few months later my husband was diagnosed with cancer. I found gardening by accident, gardening and my relationship with God is what keeps me sane. My husband still has cancer, but; he’s still here praise God.
Love hearing about ur journey to and through gardening! It’s very interesting to learn how people got into and how they got to where they are now! It’s my 2nd year gardening and I feel like it’s starting to make me more patient!
Hi Barbara. I love hearing about your journey with gardening and HR. I’m so happy that you are doing what you love and are able to make an income from it. What a wonderful blessing from God!
Ooooo Barbara, you all up in my LIFE. HONEY BUN I felt that emotion. I too was in corporate america for 30 years as of June 30, 2023 (last day in the office) and I retired at the ripe age of 53. I've also jumped in the gardening pool - currently in the Illinois Master Gardener Program. Gardening is melting that the corporate PTSD (and there was a lot). I'm able to give back by managing a community garden in an area that is considered a food desert and will soon have a "gardeners stand" where the immediate community can get food from the garden. Thanks be to God for this opportunity - He is such a way Maker!
Great video. It is teaching me patience most of all. Also, I love how I can spend hours doing things outside; it feels like mere moments. It has undoubtedly been a balm in a season of life where there have been difficult experiences. 💚
Hey Barbara. Yes God will change your plans. I was in a job that I loved. I told myself I was gonna retire from that job. Last year my voice was taken from me during a major surgery and my life changed. At that time all I had was a cherry tomato plant and banana pepper plant. Over the past year, in my struggle I found the garden and have grown to find fulfillment and peace in gardening, all while trying to figure out what my future held. Well in February my job let me go because I could no longer perform my job. You see, my left vocal cord was permanently paralyzed during a surgery to remove a tumor from my esophagus. When God closed that door I didn’t know and still don’t know what my future holds, but God has given me a peace about it but your encouragement about the steps and the light has given me encouragement. I have been uncertain about what to do next but now I know I just need to take the next step. Thank you for sharing your story. I was getting emotional with you. God is so good and He makes no mistakes. Even though my ability to speak has been altered, and it has affected so many other bodily functions, He gives me joy in the garden. Ok enough of that. Sourdough has been intimidating for me. And here you are having a class on my birthday, so I may have to treat myself to the class. ☺️. I enjoyed today’s video. Have an amazing blessed day and thank you again for the encouragement ❤😊.
Thanks so much for sharing your story! I pray that God will shine a light on your path brightly as you take the next step. And yes definitely get in on this sourdough class coming up!
Sooooo Barbara God just telling you all my business huh…. But for real this was for me to hear today. Gardening has really changed my entire life. I definitely hear a persons heart more than questioning motives. Taking that first step has really been a block for me so I thank you and look forward to the journey God has for me going forward. ❤🙏🏾
Lol I am glad it was a blessing to you! Your business is many people's business and struggle. Taking unknown steps can be difficult but they are necessary.
Lady of the Lord,, you are AWESOME! That life will kill ya 😂 digging in the dirt, baking, dogs and your own business, that's straight from God!! You're so beautiful inside and out. ❤ Great job!! Country life is the best life. ❤️
Hey Barbara I stumbled on your video’s a couple of weeks ago I’m enjoying you and your personality. I was moved by your story and maybe some of that was for me. Always wanted to garden I guess you can tell by all the plants that was in my cubicle, coming from up north now in zone 10 I can do all the gardening that gives me peace. I spent hours outside with my plants and my vegetables in peace it’s hot down here sometime but I still love. New home and new garden a gift from God 🙏🏾
Hello Barbara, I believe that the desire to garden is from God. He created the garden on the third day. When I started gardening I did not take it seriously. I thought that I was just going to grow a couple of things and now I am slowly expanding. It gave me peace. It made me research the creation and how the Lord referenced it throughout the bible. Sowing and reaping, the parable of the Sower in Mark 4 are a couple of examples. I look at how seeds grow into food, it's a miracle from God. It will never get old to me. Thanks for your video.
Yes absolutely and plant them deeper. I have a video on it here if you need more explanation: ua-cam.com/video/2R8vHHzIaOk/v-deo.htmlsi=gkZEwW1s7sGdcYc0
