This is incredible info! Here I am making bread with yeast every week, and not even knowing the power yeast has on plants! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this info! This is a game changer for me!!!😊❤
Thank you for this tip !
I just made it, but instead of sugar I added raw honey ( real honey, not from the supermarket)
Raw honey is anti- bacterial
Warm greetings from the Netherlands
Awesome tip sir! Will be implementing this immediatly, thank you!!!

I'm excited to try this !!
Easy and inexpensive solution. Excellent.
Thank you!
I have used these ingredients with some success in the culture of several vegetable, and flower types, and have substituted about 100 ml of feed-grade blackstrap molasses in place of the sugar. Adding some urea or manure tea may be helpful, too, and i sometimes also add a gram or two of boric acid powder.
Thank you ❤
Sometimes I use sourdough starter watered way down as fertilizer.
Thank you
I literally just posted a comment asking if this was possible. How do you do it? Just take a glob of starter and dilute it down in a jug of water? Do you let it sit, do you feed it sugar as well? Thanks 😊
@@luisortega3090 no sugar. I just put some in whatever I’m using to water, dilute it good, mix it around and dump it in the soil around the plants.
Thank you for sharing your collective wisdom. Will let you know of my results.
Thanks for this informative video. I’m going to try it !!!

It's interesting that the EM formula for making your own effective microbes starts out with getting the yeast in the air and rice and then you put that in milk and then you add sugar to that in the form of molasses. Sounds very similar and what you're trying to do is grow the yeast
I was taught to take a teaspoon of potato starch, scratch it into the soil. Then water the plant with the yeast water. It gives the yeast something to break down into the nutrients the plants need. I do that when transplanting the plants into the garden.
On the wood ash, I add that into my soil directly at the end of the growing season. It gives it the winter to break down into the micronutrients the plants need for the next year's crop.
Great tip!
Awesome thanks
This is a very helpful video. I appreciate this so much. Thank you
Here in the PNW, we have a terrible slug problem. Slugs are attracted to the yeasty smell of yeast and water, and can be trapped using these ingredients. Some say that yeast traps are more effective than chemical attractants and can last longer.
Use beer in low containers near plants - change daily & it'll decimate your slug population.
Yes I agree
😮😮😮
Yikes, yes I remember that now that you mention it. I won’t be pouring that on my garden during slug season.

Thanks for sharing the home made fertilizer, I would love to try this out on my veg garden as well as the flower garden.
Great tips and ideas. God bless ❤
In winter as children we used to make a glass of yeast with a half teaspoon of sugar and put it on the windowsill at night. In the morning we drank it before breakfast. Delicious the foam and all. Not every day but regularly. I did the same with my children. I do not know what it did for us or my children but we were and still are all healthy. My mothers family had done this also as children.
It gave you a healthy dose of b vitamins.
I really appreciate your videos! Thank you
Glad you like them!
I make sourdough bread and have used my discard in water but wondered if it was useful, now I’m excited. My garden looks lovely so far. I also throw any older bread in my compost heap, cut or broken up. My worms, it’s hard to have worms here in NM it’s so dry, seem to thrive now.
Oh this is a great idea! I threw my discard into a new compost pile because it just seemed wasteful to throw out. I've been worried about that choice but now I'm hopeful and excited!
My garden has been struggling so far this season so this video is very helpful. Thanks for sharing your recipe and experiences.
You are so welcome!
Yes, my garden too is very slow growing this season, was wondering if something was "put in the air to stunt growth" so we are forced to buy tainted grocery store produce...will try this tip and cross my fingers!

You can also add this mix to your compost teas, didn't catch if you already mentioned that. Another thing I do for the probiotic effects in the soil is after I finish eating a yogurt I swirl some warm water around in the empty container to get that last lil' bit of bacterial goodness out of there and dump it in the plants (or into the compost pail)

Can this yeast solution be added to compost to aide in decomposition? Does the yeast solution have any effect on earthworms or other beneficial insects or organisms in the soil?
Can this only be used in vegetable plants? Or can it be used for watermelons
How can you use this in a hydroponic system?
when do you add the additional 3 ingredients?
You mentioned it helps extend shelf life of fruit. Have you noticed any difference in the flavor of the fruit with these feedings and using yeast?
Same as usual
Can you use this on potatoe plants? Normally they grow pretty quickly ,this year like everything else except my herbs are slow going compared to previous years.
It works for potatoes, tomatoes and any nightshade plants. I'll be using it on my red fingerling potato plants tomorrow...
On a side note- What recording equipment do you use to record your videos? They sound and look great

Wow. That's really amazing. You bring constant quality content. Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video. I struggle to afford expensive fertilizers. Here in Florida it rains so much it washes nutrients through and out of the sand so quickly.
May you consider also adding some type of clay soil or even some bentonite clay to your soil to slow down your sandy soil's absorption rate and loss of fertilized water? That and keep your soil deeply mulched with wood chips or crushed dried leaves and other natural sources of weed seed free dried plant material as a covering for your soil. I have clay soil in my area and have used spent peat moss that lined my rabbits cages as litter adding this combination of rabbit manure and urine mixed with the peat moss in my soil as helped the drainage of my soil. I don't know if you're interested in rabbits, but I would guess that peat moss could also help slow down the loss of water in your sandy soil.
Glad it was helpful!

I’ve used your eggshell concoction and have a played it now several times, especially to my tomatoes… Can you tell me what the numbers are to add to the yeast concoction for the wood Ash, the Epson salt and the ground eggshells please?
Also for clarification on the wood, is it actually the ash that comes off the burnt wood or do you actually take the burnt wood pieces that are all the way burnt Through and crush those up?
Hello, I know you aren't asking me but wanted to help. I burn wood in a wood stove and I use the actual ash that I must remove periodically from the bottom of the stove.
I believe he said to add a TBSP each of ash and egg powder, plus a half tsp of epsom salt, per quart of the water/yeast/sugar solution.

@@lisakramer9373 I am a bit confused myself! I was going by the size of the jar he initially mixed the things in, then the size of the pitcher he poured it into. The jar appears to be about a quart size, and the (half full) pitcher looks like it holds 2 quarts. I hope I'm right! I'm not sure what the bucket was for, myself. I need to watch it again! I hope you're able to figure it out, and wish I could be more help 🌞
I mentioned the amount to add in vid. Yes the ash I collect is usually the day after burn. Fine powder is best
I think he was showing how to put together the initial formula - then after it foamed up overnight he stuck it in the pitcher for some reason- maybe for easier pouring?? ( I wd have just thrown it into the warm water in the 5 gallon bucket) to dilute , mix & pour 1 cup of diluted fertilizer on each plant😊
I have Only a few things to fertilize, if you mix the 5 gallons does it have to be use immediately? Will this work on my herbs and potatoes
Better to use at mix time…just 1/2 the recipe
Can this be used on all plants? Are there any fruits, vegetables, herbs, and/or flowers that you shouldn't use it on? For example, acid loving plants like blueberries?
I think it helps all plants as it makes all fertilizers more available
Try blood meal on acid loving plants like blueberries. It works wonderfully on rhododendrons and azaleas as well.
will this work in a fertilizer injector in a drip irrigation system and also using same for wobbler system will it feed at the same rate as using the method you use to water?
It should

IMPORTANT UPDATE on the end of my comment!
Thanks for sharing this with your viewers!
I used yeast with sugar water before on tomatoes I had outdoor without any rain protection.
I mulched the ground with hay and fertilized it with this yeast sugar water mix. It was really boosting the plant and the plant became pretty sturdy almost like rubbe. After the plant was tall I gave them a plein "tomato sauce" (without any spices or meat of course) just straight out of the jar and the plant started blooming like crazy. I had six tomato plants packed on one square meter (120x80 cm) palet frame raised bed - it wasn't meant to be that way, but I received the plants before their spot was ready so I "parked" them in a 1 square meter raised bed. I had no chance to move them into another place because they grow faster than I was ready with the other spot.
So, it turned into a little tomato jungle and all plants were packed with tomatoes.
I have them also powdered egg shell, but mine didn't get any wood ashes, because I didn't have any.
I was able to pick tomatoes until October , in October this plant illness developed, I don't know the English word for it, it usually happens, when the plant gets too wet, if you know what I mean.
Greetings from Germany!
UPDATE::
Just put out this homemade fertilizer yeast and sugar water to boost my plants in my new garden, where the plants aren't doing too great this year.
Seems like the summer skips our area this year - so far we only had a few nice sunny days for this year, the most of the time since May it was way too cold and it is very wet this year here in our area of Germany (near Luxemburg and French border).
So, it is raining again since a couple of days and I just went to the new garden area on the other side of town to put out the homemade fertilizer (which I had forgotten about until I have seen this video again) and so I put the fertilizer under the plants and it was like a magnet for the slugs, they came running from all sides.
I only have a small vegetable garden patch of about 10 square meter in this new garden on the other side of town and I was collecting about 20 slugs within 10 minutes after applying this yeast fertilizer. I don't kill the slugs, even though I don't like them, I drove them outside of town to the woods 🙈.
So, I wouldn't use it again, if it is so wet and cold like this year or I would probably wait for a hot sunny day and try how it will work on a sunny morning when high temperatures are expected .
I heard before that beer will attract slugs, looks like the yeast and sugar have the same effect on them.
That's impressive! I'm going to try it.
Howdy! Could you clarify, was it 'all-purpose' yeast or 'brewer' yeast? 🤔
the plant illness that your tomatoes get from the leaves getting wet is called tomato blight
To add to "the plant illness that your tomatoes get from the leaves getting wet is called tomato blight. ".... It's in the soil & gets splashed on lower leaves so make sure to cut off lower branches to help stop this disease from getting onto your plant.
Germany is so beautiful. I want to visit someday. Cheers
Amazon sells all of those ingredients.
Can I give this to my seedlings?? About a inch tall, just curious
I wouldn't do it...
Can we use old sourdough starter too? I have some every week that just gets thrown out
Someone replied on that above
Feed your plants with it.
Hefe, Zucker, warmes Wasser, Holzasche, Eipulver, Magnesiumsulfat
How often do you fertilize with the yeast?
he mentioned it in the video. Use once every 2 weeks..and only one cup per plant
The sugar won't attract ants and aphids?
How long can you store this mixture and how is the best way to store it? Cover it etc.
This would be helpful information.
Good question. I see he hasn’t replied!
Great video! Clear and to the point. Just mixed some up and we’ll see what happens!
Glad it was helpful!
it's strange, but it takes advantage of the strange situation we are in where pure sugar is cheaper than a few good-tasting vegetable
I like these videos but I would like them better if they were 5 mins instead of 15. It seems everyone needs to go over that 15 min marker to get their monetization payday.
❤😮
I agree. I watch on my phone & tap tap tap the screen to get it to move on 10 seconds at a time.
The internet has diminished attention spans, replacing w/need for instant gratification.
@@tfcig2019
In fairness to the OP, some of these videos could get the same points across in 1/3 the time. Many of the 'creators' do ramble on a bit and say the same things over & over, often in unnecessary detail.
Brevity is the soul of wit (I guess Shakespeare also had a short attention span)
I think they need to be monetized so your complaint is sort of silly.
Thank you! I'll try it! 👍
EDIT: Can fresh yeast be stored in the fridge? Any idea how long it lasts? 🤔
Yes, and I'd say no more than 2 weeks to be safe. I've used 2 week old "fresh" yeast to make bread without issue.
Far past the expiration date.
I don't know about fresh yeast but dried yeast can be stored in the freezer for many years. In 2020, I made bread with frozen instant yeast with an expiration date in 2013.
Thats a gallon pitcher so half a gallon of warm water I would guess.
I wonder how this would work in a hydroponic kratky solution?
Maybe ultra filtered if using a water pump so it won't clog it. Or if using fill & drain method with no pump then no problem except amount of time needed to benefit the plant. So maybe reuse the amended water over the course of 1-3 days??? Does anyone else have a clue on how long the exposure & how often it would have to be reused?
And also what dilution?
I wouldnt. Its a fungus...could potentially begin growing pathogens..Dr kratky didnt use organics, natural solutions..I believe he used masterblend formula...gotta keep the water clean..you do not want stuff growing in there
I purchased Bonny plants this year as I do every year. I planted my tomatoes in an area that I have planted in before with great success. I have them mulched.
