It's really coming together Danny. You made me chuckle when you were over early to get the wood chip, I had images of you there in the dead of the night with a head torch getting as much bark as you can 😂 Love the IBC cover and the guttering protection looks great. Lovely job 😊
Completely agree that even a short visit to the allotment can make a huge difference- we only got our plot this year and have only been able to pop down for an hour at a time but it’s come along really well ❤

You’re making great progress setting out the tunnel Danny, so good to see so much waiting to go in. My tunnel is just my favourite place in the garden, I’ve even just bought a small generator, so I can still work in it in the evenings after work. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Take care, pete.
The tunnel looks fantastic, Danny. Such a great space and already looks so productive. Amazing how much the bark paths finish a project off. You’ve worked hard on levelling the interior to sort the space out for you. Like the idea of making yourself a little potting station in the corner. I don’t regret making that room in mine. A chair in there will be so welcome for some winter warmth when the sun is shining. I’m dreading planting out all of my winter brassicas.. the slugs seem especially hungry! 😮😢 Great update.
Ahh clare it's been a journey for sure! A messy one at that! Yes I won't regret giving that space to prep work :) I dread the slug attacks.. I don't have too many (he says) Danny 🌱
A super achievement Danny. You are like a kid at christmas. It would be interesting to hear about the rules and regulations that apply to different allotments as someone who only gardens at home. Envious of your practical skills. Charlie is a free spirit. Plant your bulbs in pots. You can transplant them. That's magic in the polytunnel.
I shall take that into consideration. It helps to be handy with diy for sure! Charlie is a darling. I know he's a menace but hes also my bestfriend 🐾 we've been together 13 years now ❤️
I live in Alberta Canada, where we often get 3 to 4 feet of snow that will still winter. I wish I could grow plants in the autumn and winter. So I will live through you and enjoy your garden. If that’s OK.
@@TheGrowUpChannel😂😂 you say that until you have to shovel 3’ of snow off your driveway to get to the road the plow hasn’t got to yet to go to work 😅 without putting your truck in the ditch 😅

Charlie does look mischievous 😂 . Guttering mesh looks like a good idea. Massive transformation inside the polytunnel Danny. Glad the robin found its way back out of your greenhouse.
Hi Danny, what an awesome video. Your enthusiasm is so engaging. That polytunnel is going to be such a fantastic growing space, and you're just the guy to fill it with luscious goodies! !,000 liters of water collected in such a short time from the tunnel alone? Wow! And to think a few short months ago I was doing rain dances for you! lol Have a great week ahead my friend xx

Morning Danny, I have an idea for your door pegs so you are never locked out again whichever end you come in from. Takeoff one from outside and put it on the inside make sure you do it on opposite side so you don’t create a wind tunnel. Hope this helps. John
I did consider that, however the sliding doors would catch when opening them. They'd not open fully if I reversed them. They are working okay with the catches, so far...
Polytunnel is looking great, Danny. ❤ Your carrot growing skills is nearly as good as mine 😂 Mind you did manage a meal with yours. I must agree on the ugliest carrot 😂 Some great ideas for your polytunnel and beyond it. The guttering mesh works a treat. Looking forward to a cuppa and catch-up with you ❤ x

Hi Danny 👋🏻 Your seedlings are looking amazing (as is the poly!) naughty slugs - they’re enjoying my caulis too. 😂 oh goodness those carrots, sorry for laughing - well done for getting some in your tum though. Currently watching this whilst waiting for Chris to cook dinner (starving!) so your roast has made me even hungrier 🤤
Winter veg and onions looking good. Tbh, everything is looking good - plenty of jobs ticked off. Can’t believe how much water you have! You’ll be needing to give the water away :) Polytunnel is looking good Danny, bark makes it pop! 😂😂
Also on the live shows maybe talk about what people struggle with to grow , like your carrots 🥕 for me I can’t grow cauliflowers not one decent one in 3 years 😂. Also maybe the other side what have people found easy to grow and recommendations on what varieties maybe 🤔
The polytunnel is a dream you’ve done so much to it, it looks perfect! My question for the lives is ‘what did you buy or use on your plots that may of been a waste of time or not worth it?’ I’m hoping to learn from everyone else’s mistakes 😂. Have a great week! Jade x
How about you come on the lives and ask yourself! Haha I'd say my worse buy would be my wolfgarten hand tiller fitment.. I paid a lot of money for it, and after it arrived I remembered I'm no dig 🤣🤣🤣
Do you actually sleep at night Danny 😂. To do all you do is an inspiration to me. I would love a polytunnel but even though we have a largeish garden, i don't have room for one really. I would of course make room if i had the chance 😆. As far as the lives go, yes it's good to learn things, but i just love the community spirit and to have a good laugh for an hour or two 😊
Haha I sleep for 6 hours every night! I can't sleep anymore than that. I don't know how I manage it all. My excitement and enthusiasm forces me to get over there and get it done. Glad you like the lives! Danny 🌱
Hi Danny, wow, your polly looks great already. You done a lot of work in a week. ❤ A topic for your lives could be what to look out for when taking on an new allotment... e.g. positio of the plot, shade, soil aso
Hey Danny, you sure have been busy. That tunnel looks amazing, what a transformation! That guttering netting looks good I might have to invest in some to prevent leaves clogging the system.
I love woodchip paths Danny! Our plots are on clay so having the paths means we can enjoy our plots year round. Question for you and your guests on the lives: what fruit/vegetable do you most /least enjoy growing and why?
I shall add it to the list. Yeah the Christmas dinner challenge is on. We will discuss that one Christmas week for sure. Last years Christmas live was brilliant if you haven't seen.. hilarious!
You have carrot issues and me it is beets that take forever to form, if at all. I think I need potash which was suppose to have arrived from neighbors wood burner soon. Wire worms cause holes in carrots and I think the carrot fly. Clay can be tuff to grow carrots in and 😂 even tougher to pull. Lol, feels like chaos here as well and had to stop short of heading out because my favorite videos keep popping up😂. 😂😂Charlie! Love that smile! I’ve never seen onions started this time of year especially like you have. It must be nice knowing you don’t get that cold in winter that you can still grow. I’m waiting for cauliflower as they just started forming under low tunnels. They better step it up😅. We are expecting wind of 40mph and gusts to 50 ahead of a cold front by Wednesday. Bit nervous as we are very dry and fires have been popping. Just weird weather and we have 20sF in morning and now a few days in upper 70s😮. Fun stuff and time for me to go move some lily bulbs and woodchips-Yippeeee! Thx Danny! Love the lives and just free chatting is cool as there are so many in the group that bring up subjects. Time flies by fast.
Beetroot was a problem this year too. Regarding the carrots I'm going to build a dedicated carrot bin this year. Charlie is a character for sure haha! Oh wow take care with those big winds! So glad you enjoy the lives! Danny 🌱
22:33 good man in the tap swinging 😂. Did you find out what was making marks on the poly tunnel? Happy birthday crazy Charlie 🎉🎉. WOW that’s a lot of bark
Wow! You’ve made amazing progress! 🎉 Loving the new staging, already put to good use ❤ I’ve bought the same guttering mesh as you… mines still waiting to be installed though 😅
check your green house window if it has an orto vent they close when it gets cold so it could of closed after robin got in maybe now is the time to keep it shut wow the Polly looks amazing Danny
Happy Birthday Charlie! He looks so cute with that cheesy grin bless him! We used to have a strawberry blonde Jack Russell cross called Smegger after Red Dwarf. Randy little thing but a good boy. I was wondering when you were going to bring up Gemma's bag for life on the live! I still use a window box and profiterole lid as trugs! lol Those onion sets looks so pleasing to the eye in the rows. Looking great in the poly Danny! Do you not think it's a fox? Did you see JB's video about his? I think they like playing with it because of the sound it makes and probably got in through the gap. JB had garlic in pots at the time but also chicken pellets in there. I planted some stuff out and i think a rat has been digging them up again! They are after the blood fish and bone pellets as the granules don't smell as strong. I wished i had returned it as i ordered the granules and not the pellets. Be careful on Amazon atm. There is a company that keep changes it name. You either don't get the delivery or they send you the wrong product! I am so happy for your poly gutter set up with the ibc tank! We live in a terrace and don't think they would fit through the door. Our renting neighbour converted their fire tunnel into a bedroom so wouldn't be able to get it through the other fire walk way behind the houses. Those pallets look really good. Was that just local to you or do they deliver all over UK? Ahh yes that membrane, bark around the bed looks lovely Danny! And i see you are wearing your yellow crocs! I did notice you had got your yellow bobbled hat out too! Always a ray of sunshine! Can't wait to see what you will be growing in there this winter. Have a great week!
Haha yes charlie is a character. Gem and her carrier bag..is no more! Haha! They are only for south wales I believe. But Google your area :) well I now have shiny yellow welly boots too! Haha
We have a 45ft poly and could not lock the doors without having to walk round the outside to the other end to close the poly up so we moved one of the the ground spikes to inside one of the double doors so we can open or lock from inside. Each pair of doors has either one on inside and or one on outside.
@ they are sliding. Just move the door drop spike and bracket that’s currently attached to the outside of one of your doors to the inside of your door. I wish I could send you a photo because it was such as simple adaptation.
Ahh thanks! I'm happy with the catches at the moment.. however if it does need amending I'll use your suggesting! Sounds plausible tbh. Thanks susie! Really appreciate it x
Hey Danny love the Poly keep up the Awesome job. You said you were putting in the fruit cage, but did not say where it is going. Also, you have not let us know if you are still going to move the green house.
Oh sorry sherie! I decided to put it on the Fig & Olive plot.. is it up? Is it not... stay tuned! Undecided on the greenhouse, for now it's staying where it is :) Danny 🌱
Could put a tray under for the watering just to get the roots growing down maybe?.. ps just come back from my plot it not as good as yours but getting there lol.. it's looking great there.. well done.
Not a bad idea! The issue is that it's a huge tray and I'm yet to find a tray that fits it haha keep going! All takes time and a love of love and effort. Danny 🌱
would a strip of copper tape around the legs on your staging in the poly deter slugs? And Danny, really? The Monkees!?? with that "Last train to springsville"? Good one. LOL
It's great to see someone with such passion for gardening! I have that passion, but my old body doesn't move as well as it once did. It takes me a lot of time to do what used to take me 10 minutes to do.
Tunnel is looking goooood!!. Great work, Danny. May I ask where you buy your IBC tank please/ I have been trying to get one all year but have been unable to get one that can be delivered. Cheers mate. My ak choi has holes nibbled in it, n my greenhouse. I think it is caterpillars rather than slugs. I ahve looked all over the tray and can't find anything. happy Birthdy Charlie from Alfie, Ellie, Bertie & Charlie, (my 4 Golden retrievers). Happy growing 🙂
I’d be interested in the tech you use like solar power for various things. Do you have a tech background or did you learn by doing? You seem to have a knack for it🤔
Oh I do have quite a few videos on my tech side of the plot. I will be doing a new one soon though. I'll cover as much as I can. No background. Just self taught. Grandfather was a mechanic so I've always been tinkering and making little lights with batteries etc.. haha
It was something I'd never considered. I don't think jb added a gutter though? That wasn't the issue. I think his foxes are just overly mischievous haha! We don't get foxes here thankfully. (And also sadly) but it is a concern..
A subject for the live group talk Overwintering exotics. You have a banana tree on your plot. I have an olive in a pot out front in my south-facing garden. Do I need to cover it? I managed to grow three Medjool palms this year (brought into the house from the greenhouse for winter), anyone grown those? Has anyone got an avocado to fruit (either inside or outside)?
Ooh these are good questions. I also have an olive tree (hence the plot being called fig and olive plot haha) no the olive tree will be fine on itself. He'll do just fine :) if probably wrap the palms or bring near the house (or indoors) I'm not too sure...
Seren mawr 🤩🤩 Diolch 😊 very very cenfigennus of your poly!!! X I do have one but the rodents have made it a home this year & I’m constantly chasing them out. I’m going full on autopots & taking all the soil out - it’s a battle nowadays 😅 x weather & pests x
@juxtaposed1358 rodents are a problem aren't they. I watched one rat yesterday climb a tree and go across 2 plots to get to another. They are very resourceful lol
They really are. The lovely Iolo Williams suggested putting plastic tubes around any vines you don’t want them to climb as they can’t get up plastic but I just don’t have the energy to do that with all my tomatoes 🍅- too many jobs as it is!! And I’m too soft lol I love all animals - I’m a one stop shop for them 😂 I recently moved quite away from my allotment so I’m not really near it so there’s not as much footfall. One person does have traps down, but I will never do that. 😅😢it’s a balance!! Love your channel btw - love & peace from north Wales 🏴 x
It's really coming together Danny. You made me chuckle when you were over early to get the wood chip, I had images of you there in the dead of the night with a head torch getting as much bark as you can 😂 Love the IBC cover and the guttering protection looks great. Lovely job 😊

A topic for your lives could be what to look out for when taking on an new allotment... e.g. positio of the plot, shade, soil aso
That's a great idea! Thank you! And yes the polytunnel is taking shape now. I feel I've accomplished something now. Danny 🌱
Hey Danny, you sure have been busy. That tunnel looks amazing, what a transformation!
That guttering netting looks good I might have to invest in some to prevent leaves clogging the system.
I'm shattered mate haha! The guttering netting is brilliant. Works a charm! Link in description. It's not expensive 😊
Well Done 👏
😂
Looking great real progress
Thank you David 😊🌱
I love woodchip paths Danny! Our plots are on clay so having the paths means we can enjoy our plots year round.
Question for you and your guests on the lives: what fruit/vegetable do you most /least enjoy growing and why?
Me too! I plan to woodchip it all very soon! I shall pass on the question. Danny 🌱
I can't believe you've got carrots growing on tĥe ground without any nets as the carrot fly is rampant with me.
Tbh they were sown out of season and in between the celery :)
Hi Danny, live idea's for the shows.
Guests, good and bad habits while gardening.
What guest are growing for Xmas dinner.
Love the new polytunnel.
Danny 🌱
Hi Danny great job 👍❤❤
Hey, thank you!
22:33 good man in the tap swinging 😂. Did you find out what was making marks on the poly tunnel? Happy birthday crazy Charlie 🎉🎉. WOW that’s a lot of bark
Haha! You seen 🤣🤣 no I never found out.. well there's been other signs since.. 🙃 maybe in next video. I hope it's not a cat lol
@@TheGrowUpChannel trail cam ?
Reas my mind. I put it up yesterday haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel great minds or warped 🤣🤣🤣 think alike
Wow! You’ve made amazing progress! 🎉
Loving the new staging, already put to good use ❤
I’ve bought the same guttering mesh as you… mines still waiting to be installed though 😅
Hey! Oh fab! Yes get it fitted. Works a treat! Danny 🌱😊
Wow it's looking amazing already.❤
Isn't it just! I'm so pleased with it. Finally no more sticky mud...
Can't wait to see what you do next! 😀💡
Oh it's already been done! And it's epic!
check your green house window if it has an orto vent they close when it gets cold so it could of closed after robin got in maybe now is the time to keep it shut
wow the Polly looks amazing Danny
Oh it 100% was the window opening. I have now removed the wax opener until spring. Danny 😊🌱
I still use a window box and profiterole lid as trugs! lol
Those onion sets looks so pleasing to the eye in the rows.
Haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel Thanks will do. Ooh can't wait to see your fancy wellies! :o)
Enjoying your posts. For lives I’d be interested in chats about perennial veg, herbs, and fruit like berries. Thanks 👍🏽
Thanks for the idea! That's a good idea for a live! Thanks Elizabeth! Danny 🌱
Hi Danny
We had the same issue with the drop down bars so we actually moved on and put it on the inside and has solved the problem of access.
Hey susie..what do you mean?
We have a 45ft poly and could not lock the doors without having to walk round the outside to the other end to close the poly up so we moved one of the the ground spikes to inside one of the double doors so we can open or lock from inside. Each pair of doors has either one on inside and or one on outside.
Ahh i see! Are your doors sliding doors? I don't think it works if they slide as it'll hit the lock if put inside.
Really appreciate it x
yay no more mud spa lol well done
It's gone! Wooooooohooo!
@@TheGrowUpChannel yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy lol
I was expecting an opening ceremony for the Polytunnel with a VIP to open it maybe a Digwell or Tony O'Neil 😉.
Digwell a Vip? Behave yourself 🤣🤣 I have someone else more important opening it 🤣🤣
Cover is so cool we always worry about algae. We are due to get 2 soon
2 polytunnels? I thought you said you was hesitant to have one at the plot 😅
@@TheGrowUpChannel no on the big big water but thing. lol
Oh i see! Your comments sometimes take some working out 😂 I don't always remember the whole video 😂
@ lol I like to make you work for the answer.... much more exciting!
Those carrots 🥕 🥕 looked really bizarre 😅 but as long as they tasted nice 👍 you could at least enjoy them.
Haha they really were haha delicious though 🤣🤣
You could talk about how to grows carrots on live lol, carrot like sandy soil but dont like to be fed or they will fork ,tfs sylvi
You rascal! Haha maybe 🤣🤣
Brad's Atomic Carrot!
Chads* 🤣

Danny 🌱
Yea I got you. I no what you mean been sorting out 2yrs worth of brambles out around the fruit plot il keep watching..keep up the good work.
would a strip of copper tape around the legs on your staging in the poly deter slugs? And Danny, really? The Monkees!?? with that "Last train to springsville"? Good one. LOL
Oh that's a good idea Sylvie! Haha I wondered if anyone would notice the monkee's reference haha
You've made excellent progress there young man .
When's the polywarming party and are subscribers invited ?
Haha you're always welcome! Danny 🌱
It's great to see someone with such passion for gardening! I have that passion, but my old body doesn't move as well as it once did. It takes me a lot of time to do what used to take me 10 minutes to do.
Same here
Whether a job takes 10 mins or 10 days. That feeling of achieving it is the same.. good for you, for keeping yourself going! Danny 🌱
Where are you based ? If they are little holes, could be fleabeetle on pak choi :) charlie says thank you haha
Maybe time for some netting over the greenhouse windows so birds don't get in?
I think you're right! I'll remove the automatic window opener now. So it'll solve the problem.. but I've added it to the jobs to do in autumn
Hi looks great xx you will grow and grow xx🫖🫖🫖🫖🫖
Thanks so much Susan 😊
There’s always something going on!
Oh I know🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d be interested in the tech you use like solar power for various things. Do you have a tech background or did you learn by doing? You seem to have a knack for it🤔
Oh I do have quite a few videos on my tech side of the plot. I will be doing a new one soon though. I'll cover as much as I can. No background. Just self taught. Grandfather was a mechanic so I've always been tinkering and making little lights with batteries etc.. haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel I’ll be looking forward to it. Btw, haven’t seen anything about the hedgehogs recently. Are they still around?
@@KimberlySteineke oh they very much are! I'll feature them soon.. 😊🌱
❤
🌱
JB from Naturally JB has foxes jumping on his polytunnel, apparently just for the fun of it, and they did damage it.
I know! They ripped it to shreds..poor guy! We don't have foxes 😀
@@TheGrowUpChannel that’s good news!
❤
🌱
😊
🥰
How about preserving? What are people's favourite pickles
Funnily that's planned ! Haha a preserving and preparing live :)
If you put another gutter at mid height that will allow the fox/cat/Badger to savage your polytunnel. #NaturallyJB has been here before .... beware😮
It was something I'd never considered. I don't think jb added a gutter though? That wasn't the issue. I think his foxes are just overly mischievous haha! We don't get foxes here thankfully. (And also sadly) but it is a concern..
My Carrots were awful, forgot to water I think.
Mine were over watered by the sky this year haha
@@TheGrowUpChannel next year! lol
Hi…..can i have the link for the tank cover please …….🙏 Diolch o galon x
Ohhh shoot! I knew I was meant to add a link! I shall add to description now 😀
Added 😃
Sorry, but red hot poker and piles, really don't go well in the same sentence 😂😂
🤣 best way to cure it 🤣
