Naruto himself is very similar in personality to Gon (they're both the simple minded, comic relief, strong-willed almost to a fault type who'll do anything for their friends). Kakashi is practically an older version of Killua. White hair, lightning based powers, assassin moves. Both series have an arc where the main characters are trying to pass some sort of organized exam (Chunin/Hunter). The two even have the kind, old leader who's quirky but secretly a bad ass (they both also sacrifice themselves to defeat an enemy, although admittedly the way they do it is very different). Also this might be a stretch but the Phantom Troupe is kinda similar to Akatsuki imo. Also I fully acknowledge that some of these are just representative of the Shonen style of anime as a whole, and not specific to these two anime.

Actually you misunderstood Emperor Time. When his eyes turn red, Kurapika is able to use any type of nen with it's full potential. This matches with his index finger ability shown in the last chapters (that steals someone's ability for a short time, thus being able to use any kind of ability regardless of the user's type of nen). That is why he has 2 types of nen, normally, Conjurer and Specialist (because he can use Emperor Time). (which is basically hacking nen)
What happened to his clan was so brutal, now I can understand his grudge towards the Phantom Troupe. My boy Kurapika must have been so devastated when he learned about it 💔

However if you track the very origin of the ring bracelets it goes way back to the Indian and Arab culture which was worn by women only on special traditional occasions such as marriage.
