They wasted Sasori as a character. He could have easily killed Sakura if Chio wasn't there and plot armor. It was a good fight but some stuff didn't make since to me tho. But if he survived he could have easily returned before or after Deidara's death and have gotten killed by someone else(i would like it to be Kakashi because Kakashi's dad killed his parents I think)

There's no evidence sasori is immune to genjutsu, as long as he has a consciousness, genjutsu should still work on him, plus he still has eyes.
