I love the idea, that anxiety doesn’t have to be my mortal enemy that’s ruining my life, and we can somehow work together instead of me constantly losing the battle.

Self sabotage is always at its heighest hen anxiety is high. When were in a happier, positive, carefree state we look for the things we enjoy and smile at. Just noticing this happens when in a lower state helps me to understand self sabotage is just part of feeling the hih anxiety and when it lowers so to will the harsh comments

That's spot on. When we are highly anxious we're in the frame of mind to look for potential threat. That's our mind's job in that moment.
Understanding this can help us shift our frame of mind by realising we are currently looking at the world with a negative bias.
Also, try to avoid the temptation to be negative with yourself. We don't heal by reinforcing whatever conflict is currently going on in our subconscious.
      Hope this helps.

Thanks for this Tim. I do need to focus on my wins, rather than beat myself up. Even the smallest wins count. Also, learning to say ‘no’ is huge. Two things I need to manage for a more positive outcome.

Dianne, most people could do with changing both those things. Imagine if we all kept healthy boundaries and didn’t beat ourselves up for our perceived shortcomings. The world would be a much less anxious place.
