I Don't CARE About Your ANXIETY Disorder...And Neither Should YOU.
I don’t care about your anxiety disorder.And neither should you.
In this video I be explain why any diagnosis we get regarding anxiety doesn’t have to define us, or restrict our happiness.
For more than a decade now I’ve been working with people 1-2-1 to help them overcome what they’ve often been told is an anxiety disorder, and in this video I tell you why, from my perspective the term disorder doesn’t have to carry the weight you think it does and how you actually get past it.
I break down the four main reasons why we don't have to feel defined by our anxiety disorder diagnosis and provide a little food for thought in terms of why you don't have to care whether or not you've been officially diagnosed with a disorder.

    Hey Tim, Hope all is well and thank you for all the invaluable information. I have a question with regards to a sensitized nervous system. I have made bounds and leaps of progress with anxious thoughts and symptoms. However, since my first panic attack I have always had a nervous reaction to stimulants like caffeine and my adhd meds. Before that first panic attack I did not have any issues with it. I have stopped them to give my body a bit of rest. Starting them back up again however has not been good, within a week I got the full physical symptoms back again (bad insomnia, digestive issues, jittery rushed feeling from waking untill sleeping). It didnt worry me too much because I know how to respond, but now after 2,5 months I stopped taking them and the anxiety has almost melted away completely, and most days with zero physical symptoms. However not taking my adhd meds is severely impairing my functioning and I dont really know how to navigate this. I have talked to my psychiatrist and doc and they dont really know what to advice except for maybe asking a therapist specialized in anxiety for guidance. Is my nervous system not yet fully healed enough to try starting my adhd meds back up again? I have no idea if I should just keep taking them while responding like Ive learned from Claire Weekes or am I aggravating my nervous system more back into the hole I finally came out of? Hope you can give me some usefull pointers as you are probably very experienced having seen so many people with anxiety. Warm regards, Ray

    Lately I’ve been scanning to see if I am experiencing depersonalization or not. I had a bad spout of anxiety where I experienced dp for the first time. It scared me so bad I’m afraid to have it again and that it might last forever. So now whenever I feel decent my mind starts scanning and double checking if I feel bad. This worrying behavior makes my anxiety get bad in response and it feeds itself. Not sure how to stop the cycle.

      @@kayladewaard4019 I will keep trying. I know in my case I go from periods of excellent results to extreme difficulty. I always find it a bit odd when someone says that anxiety can't kill you... because yea, it might not kill you directly, but the anxiety could provoke a heart attack which could kill you...

    • @TimBoxMindCoach
      @TimBoxMindCoach 6 днів тому

      Anxiety/panic actually don’t cause heart attacks. A heart attack is caused by a blockage to one or more of the arteries to the heart. The only way anxiety can affect the heart is over a longer period of time: high stress levels lead to increased blood pressure which can (over time) cause damage to the heart. However, there are lots of ways of lowering blood pressure to avoid this happening. As always, if you have any concerns about long term heart health then I advise seeing your doctor for info and help with that.

    I finally understood anxiety after a few years. Became apparent after twice dislocating a hip replacement and having a mildstroke at 73. Until then I was running, hiking and a very active female. Unable to be physical a lifestyle for me I could not use my energy after being fit ALL my life. I still get anxious over the smallest thing going wrong but I can tell myself its just a feeling. However I am now 81 and have peripheral neuropathy not related to diabetes, my balance over the past 5yrs has become so bad that I have to be careful how I move, never had to before ever. I had full control of my body now it controls me. I have always been self sufficient and needed no help. This has created deep depression as I want to do things but cant and I am mentally exhausted which stops me doing the simplest things without feeling breathless. The final straw has been a feeling of vertigo which has worstened my balance. I have isolated myself from friends and family as I was always the strong one people relied on me. My kids are overseas my partner is not emotionally supportive. My sight was affected by the stroke also affecting balance. Anxiety is creeping back on top of depression as I have conditions that are real. It scares me to think after a very active lifestyle I will end my life bedbound. My safe zone now😢.😢😢😢

    Tim, thank you so much for this video. Every time I learn something from you, I feel like I become a little bit more resilient. There is one thing I still struggle with... I understand that anxiety is natural and isn't actually a threat. That being said, I can't seem to get past the notion that the feeling of high anxiety in the body is in itself a threat because it just feels so awful. It of course can't truly hurt me, but I feel afraid to feel that bad. I know it's this exact thinking that pushes me into the cycle, but it's hard to break.

    • @TimBoxMindCoach
      @TimBoxMindCoach 8 днів тому

      Whilst we often hear people talk about the reason we fear it being because it feels so awful, I’ve found that in reality the fear is based on the thought that it must MEAN something bad BECAUSE it feels so awful. Know that no matter how bad a full on anxiety or panic state can feel, it doesn’t mean anything is going wrong. It doesn’t actually mean anything. In a different context we regard these feelings as exhilarating. It’s just the context that scares us. Take a look at this video as it has a bit more on this idea: ua-cam.com/video/M8Du91s3MO0/v-deo.htmlsi=TAdYQeHAZkdX2ElN Hope it is of value.

    How do I teach my mind there is no threat?

    • @TimBoxMindCoach
      @TimBoxMindCoach 8 днів тому

      One step would be to work out why your mind currently thinks there is. We will generally struggle to re-educate someone unless we hear why they have their current set of beliefs. Until we understand them they’re probably not listening. Perhaps the part of your mind that believes there is threat is waiting to have the reason for that fear acknowledged before it will allow you to teach it something new?

      Understanding the point made in this video is just one of the steps towards getting the other side of any anxiety issue. Unfortunately everyone’s path is a little different and unique to them depending on what is currently causing the issue. A huge step would be to understand why YOU feel nothing is changing right now. This is the sort of thing you could explore with a therapist if necessary.

      I have a video on depersonalisation that might help here. Basically it’s often the attempts to resist those feelings that perpetuate them. Recognising that any dissociation is natural and not a cause for alarm can help us accept those sensations so we don’t have any of those scary thoughts to challenge.

    I have thought I have cancer three times in the past year lol. I just read about how Bob Marley died (rare skin cancer) & the person they interviewed in the article said “just be on the lookout for spots or freckles appearing on the palms of your hands, it is a very rare place to get them” and I already had a spot when I read it and developed a new spot about two weeks after😅 very scary
