I just canned this recipe instead of putting in the fridge - I have a lot of grown kids who can eat a whole jar in one sitting and I need simple foods on the shelf for them. My kitchen smells amazing! I have 21 quarts finished, tomorrow will be another 21 :)
Now to go see what else he posted on his channel. I'm glad his family kept the channel going, I love seeing the legacy of those who are gone. He is still inspiring and helping others create delicious food and that is a beautiful thing.
You are creating great food memories around your home! That will last a lifetime! ❤️
How long did you can them for? Thank you.

@@rxspicychicken2402 Try using Gwaltney Hot Dogs they are not expensive and far far better than Bar-S and no where near as salty! seriously! Bar-S are garbage!
I'm so happy that these videos are still out there.

@@maem7636 apparently in December 2019. If you are/weren't a frequent viewer have you noticed only shelia and buddy doing recipes?
So very sorry to hear this, he seemed so nice and funny.
Definitely gotta try this. Looks and sounds 😋
I cant believe he is gone ,what a good man
I made these today and it's totally in honor to this video. It's how I found you and man I was bummed to learn about your passing through this subsequent videos. You seem like a dude I would have BBQ'ed and Smoked for and you would show up with the perfect side dishes. Then sing Karaoke until midnight and go find some night crawlers to fish with in the morning. Huge Personality...RIP Steve.
Great compliment!!!! He was that kind of guy! Thanks for watching his video's! :)
liked your tips will try them out...keep up the good work
I make the pickled hot dogs every year around Christmas. They are fantastic! I just pulled the recipe up once again to try it on eggs! How saddened i was to learn of his passing. Such an inspiration and humanitarian. Rest easy friend. Condolences Mrs. Sheila.
thanks for all the great comfort food recipes Big Red RIP
oh man, this is so cool. gotta try this
Thanks Steve and Sheila for all the wonderful recipes and entertainment!! Wish you were around to make share your humor and recipes!!
Our pleasure!
I have been watching Shotgun Red for years. I like to pickle the shrimp with salt and vinegar, then use his Hot and spicy pickled recipe. combine the shrimp and yellow onions into the Hot and spicy recipe juice and OMG! you will love it!!
We really enjoyed this video and we are looking forward to seeing more of your videos. We are also looking forward to making some of these and hopefully very soon!
Steve Hall has always been an entertainer no matter what he’s doing.
This is the whole show that, got me hooked on the shotgun red cooking, downloaded this one for sure!
These would go great with an ice cold beer.
Precisely why I found this video. Cold beer + pickled sausage (hotdog) is perfect 👌🏻
That's what I was thinking!
@@fibreoptik Me too I'm there.
I, too, just found out about Steve's passing. Loved his videos and can tell that he was just an all-around nice guy. Made these Hot, Sweet & Spicy Pickled "Hot Dogs & Onions!" tonight in his honor. I'm sure they will be delicious! RIP, Steve.
I made these today, can’t wait to try them in a couple days. God bless you here & Steve in heaven.
How were they?
Do you know by chance if these have to be put in the refrigerator or can they be left out
@@kathyt9526 fridge
His recipes are amazing. he used an induction cooktop(which I use always) and an electric fry pan to make pretty much everything and it all came out great. I have a pool deck with fine grills and sous vide machine that I use often, but when it comes to simple comfort food, Steve knew best...RIP brother, truly the working man's best.
I live just north of Memphis and watched this video for the first time today. Best video I've seen and then so sad to read that we have lost him. RIP Shotgun ... you'll not be forgotten!
Thank you! :)
Looks awesome, I'm definitely going to try it this week
These just get better and better.Thank You for everything.
Your welcome! :)
Thanks, I’ll try this!!
I just pickled some, cant wait to try!
I have been thinking of pickling some sausage for a little bit of time. I finally bought some Queen City Ghost Pepper sausage. I absolutely love this video, and was "jaw-dropped" when I found out what happened. I'm going to pickle my sausage, and I will give a "shout-out" to Cooking With Shotgun Red. May he rest in peace, and his videos continue to help others.
Daddy Jack also passed ,he was a good Ole time cook !
This guy so good I miss him
I just stumbled on this channel and love it. So sorry to hear he passed.
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Just made these tonight. I thought of you and celebrated you as I made your recipe Red. Turned out fantastic and in five days will be amazing!! Much love to you and your family brother. You were incredible.
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
love this show.. I have made almost all of the recipes on this shotgun red channel.. I used to love when Miss Sheila and him was on the houseboat.. keep the tradition going.
Thanks a million! Appreciate you watching and making the recipes!
👍😃
What a sweetie-to borrow one of his phrases 'he's cooking for the Lord now'. And probably charming the halos off the angels to boot. He's smiling down on you for sure, Miss Sheila.
Thank you Diane! 😊 shotgunred.com
I am proud to say I just finished making my first batch of Shotgun Reds pickled hotdogs and onions and some pickled eggs as well for good measure..The smell is strong but mouth watering..I can’t wait to try them..
How did you like them?
@@CookingwithShotgunRed I absolutely loved them..in fact I’ve made them several times since I first saw this video and have actually made several other recipes..Red may not be with us any more but his legacy lives on!
Ok...I made these and let them sit in the fridge (once they cooled) for 5 days. I put a couple ounces of red wine in each batch of brine. I didn't have the same wine as Shotgun Red used but the brine turned out really nice.
I tried the pickled hotdogs for the first time this morning. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as were the onions that were added.
These are going to be savored while I watch my football games when the boys come over. Add a couple beers...and a bowl of crackers...awesome.
Shotgun Red will always be missed...but I'll be thinking of the guy every time I make these in the future.

Just made a batch 3 days ago with my five year old daughter and I did half hotdogs and pickles eggs. The eggs were 10 times better this was a realy good brine. I doubled this recipe for a gallon jar. Will be reusing brine with a little water and all eggs when These are gone. I watched slot of your videos Steve. Gunna start tying them all starting with that Bergoo. You know what your doing keep them recipes coming!

This editing was so fulfilling.
Thanks!
Can't wait to try this! I'll pick up three packages of hot dogs, though, for that 3rd jar!
Lol ... You can always top it off with vinegar and water 50/50 if you don't have enough for the last jar.... Steve...
I'm going to do that this weekend.
I’m gonna try this with some veggies too. Cucumber, onion, carrots, celery, and broccoli.
That sounds great!

Thanks Cory for watching these video’s. We do appreciate it!😃😊
I love these hot dogs! I am new to pickling eggs and hot dogs, so I tried several recipes and this one. I like this one the best, next is a recipe I found using balsamic vinegar. The other recipes seem to be kind of bland.
Anyone know if you can Preserve (Can) these, and how long? Water bath? Pressure cook?
Was enjoying the video and wanted to see what else he had made and discovered he had passed. My condolences to his family and all those who enjoyed his videos. I really liked his down to Earth down home approach. Rest in Peace Sir.

Gonna try this and the pickled fish recipe with my 12 year old boy, thanks Steve and Sheila.

Should have a few boiled eggs for your backup jar. Waiting for its taste test.
Started pickling a little while ago got great classic pickles. Now I'm going to try this may use tabasco smoked chipotle and an IPA for the like ingredients! I'm out to pickle everything 🙂
Glad you’re having fun!👍😁
