Fantastic review MIB!!!! I'm extremely late for this as i (finally) got vol 1 of rulers of earth, mostly due to bad rumors about the glue failing and pages falling out. This is easily the best mainstream Godzilla comic series out there ("half-century war" is equal for me) to see many obscure Kaijus appearing in this massive story is pure fanservice!!! It's a fantastic read and i highly recommend it!!!!
I love your channel because you give a really awesome story line when ever you do a skit with your Godzilla figures and make them have real life f@#% up problems, but still your awesome and I give you 10 stars for being AWESOME!
I really don't know much about the comics industry nor the wider Godzilla fandom outside of the general public/pop-culture knowledge, but everything I've seen about Matt Frank seems to say that he is just a straight-up fan that somehow got paid to live his dream. I love it!
Also, the Trilopods remind me of Armaldo from Pokémon and the Anomalocaris Dopant from Kamen Rider W (all of them are monsters inspired by Anomalocaris).
My copy is arriving on Sunday, thank you monster island buddies for recommending this series to me . I’m getting volume one , then when I’m finished I’m buying volume two.
This comic is the closest we will get to a remake of Destory All Monsters or a shared universe that features Godzilla alongside a lot of the Toho monsters.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Matt twice at DragonCon. Could not have been a nicer guy. Was thrilled to meet him, get some art, and get my books signed. Hope to see him again after all this chaos evens out. I'm going to need my Redman Vol 3 signed!
A good example of what you were talking about in regards to the character focus is Lucy’s love interest. She shares a few moments with here and there if you’re looking, and then bam, wedding photo at the end. I mean don’t get me wrong, great for Lucy and I’m sure she and her wife will be very happy together, but it would’ve been nice to see that relationship yknow, actually develop and stuff. Oh and a few Kaiju like Gezora and some others kinda disappear
DAMN YOU TO MAKE ME REALIZE THIS COMIC EXIST!!! the amazon store in my country has 6 volumes but has them varied from 40 dollars to 150 dollars because they must be imported, I want to read it so bad but I don't have the money for it. edit: 10:10 nevermind THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW THESE EXIST!!!! I was able to get both for 50 bucks much better than trying to pay like 500 bucks for the 6 volumes
My favorite characters in Rulers of Earth, besides Lucy & Woods, are Kristina & Chavez. Chavez is a great soldier & I love how he's also a geek like me. And I love Kristina's punk-rock girl look at the beginning (Her look after the time-skip is good, too. I like how she still had her a few of piercings. It's just awesome to see a scientifically-minded individual given a look outside of the norms. I mean, when was the last time you saw a scientist with a badass mohawk or a tattoo or piercings like that in fiction?) and her interactions with Lucy are so cute (Also, love how they got married at the end. So beautiful!)

It definitely made me like him more.
That and some of the ideas that they used him with in the anime prequel novels really give some good uses out of him.

I’ve always thought Rulers of Earth was a bit overrated, but I have a good excuse to reread them now that I have them in Japanese!
