Show Us Your Junk! Ep. 29 - Pierre de Reeder (64 Sound/Rilo Kiley) | EarthQuaker Devices

- Ensuring those who step into this recording facility are able to enhance their inspiration, Pierre de Reeder has stocked 64 Sound with a serious arsenal of dreamy studio gear. Unique instruments with their own vibe, high quality outboard effects, and of course... microphones. A lot of really useful microphones are in attendance which is not only mandatory, it's also an apparent passion. Can you blame him? Like most older studios, the history of the joint plays some part in the overall feel of the tracking experience and Pierre has done a wicked job of adding to the mix while retaining all the raw artifacts of the original take. Yes, you should watch this closely. Yes, you should listen to Rilo Kiley. And yes, you should check out the 64 Sound website for a full list of all that great gear!

This has got to be the nicest studio head I've ever come across. What an apparently extremely balanced and together human being. A friggin rarity these days.
Omg the Wurlitzer drum machine is mind-blowing!
Right?!
I concur
Yes!! That thing is a trip.
A new show us your Junk??!! I instantly clicked
Drums + Pedals = total radness
totally
This series is so good. Thanks.
Glad you enjoy it!
I never realized how much I need a tube-driven drum machine, lol.😍😍😍
You know its legit when you see the Radio Shack catalog and the Tape Op mags.
I love all the little 'NO ONE SPOT' stickers haha! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SERIES!!!!
One of the raddest studios I've ever been to! That 1970's smell of that place is magical. Pierre and Dave Trumfio are the best in the biz. Awesome video guys.
THAT SNARE DRUM SOUND @14:14 😍😍😍😍
Feels like home
A Trent Reznor episode would be god like
I love that classic 70's vibe. Seriously great studio!
Seems like a great guy with an awesome setup
My band recorded there a few years back with Alex Newport. We really loved that studio. Place was such a good vibe and Pierre was really cool.
finally someone using eqd pedals on drums! thats something i'd love to try out myself....
Gong would use synthesizer filters on everything, works great on drums.
I've filmed in loads of studios (including the amazing Abbey Road) and this place looks so nice, what a lovely vibe and what a dude.
This is so damn cool
glad udig thank u
The theremin through the Afterneath got my cat's attention.
I love watching these. I’ve seen them all at least once. But I have to admit, I almost always buy some cool new thing after a few episodes.
I wanna play. Love your collection 🙏❤️🙏
Go for it!
That blue Gretsch, holy moly 😍😍😍😍
That drum machine from 59 has a pristine sound, i didn't expect that before hearing
Would be cool to be revived as a plug in, since gear like that is so rare, let alone be in working condition. I could definitely hear the potential some cool intros being generated from it.
The pedal performance/demo was great!
God damn, I love studios like this!
This was totally awesome!!!! Especially loved the drums+the Earthquake Pedals+ the Wurlitzer Drum machine and the Earthquake Pedals combination! Wow 🤯❤🙌🏽
Paradise!
Blessings eternally 💫♾️
Tight! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Earthquaker saves the day again!!!

YAYYYY ive been waiting so long for a new episode thanks

Cool episode. Would love to see Mac Demarcos craptastic studio on this show
it isn't really craptastic these days
That old drum machine is awesome.
It sure is!
Damn that old school drum machine has my mind spinning! AwesomE!
Thank you Earthquaker Devices

Great episode. Hope to see some more soon!
Amazing stuff
This is so rad!
Super intelligent. I feel overwhelmed..
Love it. Great tour of a really cool looking studio.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Of all the millions of different things in this place, the only thing I can say I also own is that one Ernie Ball patch cable....I wish I had even one tenth of this much cool shit!
He had a Behringer Sustain pedal, that was my one thing haha
when he started fucking around with the drums and the pedals? That was the shit my g's! One love
I used to do my drums like that with a Roland CR80 and an early DOD multieffect back in the 90s
Cool episode
How in the hell do you guys find these guys/girls with warehouses of rare gear?!! I am once again amazed! Awesome video! Thanks so much.
'tis how we roll. lots of great friends. thank you, friends!
Inspiring
I’m gonna use this show to preliminarily audition studios for the record I want to make
CASIO SK1 YESSSS
Man I’ve got an EV PL5 in my hand that looks just like that 635A. It sounds acceptable but most importantly it’s very forgiving. As in, it doesn’t fight you when proximity would become an issue with a lot if other dynamic mics, and this one is Omni-directional, which helps reduce to “plosive” issues so common with others. A lot of people don’t realize it but the tighter the pattern of the mic the more proximity effect will bite you, hence the forgiving nature of the PL5. I’m pretty sure something just like this used to be common for TV reporters.
that drum machine too sweet
That theremin is crazy cool.
The sound of the Bit Commander being sent out to the live room with the Rainbow Machine dipping in was tight as fuck 👌 Makes me wanna try that now. I just need to convince my drummer 😆
thanks Pierre would love to visit one day and record a bit , David
We need a Lightning bolt episode :)

Just bought the Rainbow Machine!
I'm about 10 minutes from this place. I wish I could visit :((((
Whats the 1. big mixer? Great Studio by the way :-)
At this point I think EQD just makes these videos to make me feel dissatisfied with home recording.
hey can i have that wurlitzer drum machine thank u
Woah wait: what’s on the DEVO tape?!?
Are we not curious???
what is the main console running the drum-loop outboard effects? and whats that "mix down" tape deck beside the console?
Not sure about the board, looks like an MCI, but that’s an ATR 104 4 track mix down deck next to it 🤘🏻

Usually you peak waay later after taking but goodjob.
Do an episode on the Wilco Loft!

@@EarthQuakerDevices dont you think Pierre looks more like Bryan Ferry than Will Ferrell ????
thats the second person to say he looks like Will...... i find that odd, more odd than i find by looking in the mirror(pretty odd)......
i guess reality would say "he looks more like Pierre"...... that dang reality.......
i see junk, i click
It’s Bryan Ferry ⛴
what happened to your previous videographer Chris Tran?
He is working on EQD videos, literally right now.

Now I know where Bon Iver records....
3:17 that thing needs a major cleaning
Hella toybox. yummy.
edit: i wonder how many lines got cut out on those tape splice rails. ohhhh, if only that room could tell its story over the years.............
Drug game hard, rap game easy
Sign Me Up ... what's your rate for 2 days awesome Studio
this guy has some similarities to will farrell when he isn't lookng directly at the camera
You need your eyes checked dude....not even close
His body language tho
In the sense that he has two eyes, a nose and a mouth - yes.
Bryan Ferry, maybe....... dont see the "will ferrall"..... maybe a mix or will ferrall and perry farrell..... nah....... Bryan Ferry.......
Not allowed to have the outside painted? Admittedly did not look at every previous comment but that place would look good with some art on it. Obviously sometimes landlord forbids it.
Sweet gear tho
Wasted my 15 minutes this sunday
