For the MacBook 2021, with the M1 Pro chips, instead of Command + R, you need to shutdown the computer. After the computer is completely turned off, press and hold the power button until it goes into the recovery mode.
This broke my Mac…when I deleted Macintosh HD, it had no place to redownload the macOS and now I have no idea how to get it working again, been trying for hours
WARNING! At 3:37 after formatting the hard drive DO NOT shut down the computer! Return to the MacOS Utilities window and follow the rest of the steps. After restarting the computer it causes an error making it impossible to re-install Mac OS. You will just get an error saying the install on the server has been damaged. Once this happened I had to recover my drive from a time machine back up and start all over again. This was not made clear in the video. Don't make the same mistake I made.

For some reason when I hold down Command R after booting I get a 🚫 symbol and then the iMac shuts off. Holding down Command Option R doesn't do anything so I can't use Internet recovery mode either. Any ideas?
Guys please noted that you will need an internet connection when selecting restore mac OS. Seems like he missed out to mention that. So i just did mine without an internet connection, so mine is stuck and cannot log into mac until stable internet to reinstalling the os.

Warning - before you do any of the disk utility steps, ensure you have a wifi connection established. To reinstall the macOS you need a wifi connection and it’ll be too late to go back. I’m now locked out of my Mac for making this error.

The update started off at 3/4ths of the way finished, but still said it had 4 hours left, which was kinda weird. After about an hour or two the bar was full, but it still said there were 2 hours left. Then a notice popped up saying there was an error updating the mac and I had to restart the updating process. It’s now updating again, and it’s starting off the same way. I am worried. What can I do if it keeps having this error? Update: The update failed again.

Well, you shouldn’t really try to unlock it yourself and trying something which you don’t know as it might do some extra bit damage. You can just take it to any Apple Store, or Apple Reseller or any authenticated Tech Guy Like *MOE* where they sell MacBook They’ll just log onto iTunes on their Mac and your problem should be resolved in 10-15 minutes. They effort required is very less, it’s just about knowing the thing that you’re doing. *MOE* charges are less. By the way, technically they shouldn’t ask for anything as it isn’t a laborious work at all so if you argue enough with them, they might not charge you. But also, they will ask you for the Apple ID and Password. So, it would be better to change the password after the work has been done just for security purposes.
Mine didn’t do what yours did. I clicked erase but it made 2 lists of MacIntosh HDs. The default one still showed mostly full memory. The other when selected showed empty. Did it partition? Tried to reset again and the globe showed up, asking to choose a network.. Comments? Further update: i can connect to wifi but it won’t install OSX because “No packages were eligible for install “

Great video but please do not toss your laptop in the trash! There may be local electronics recycling near you or Apple will take it back to be recycled. It’s easy and good for the planet.

Nothing, you just need to go into Disk Utility, select the disk name under "internal" then click on erased and after that's done you close that window to go back to the main menu and then you select reinstall macOS and everything will be erased from the computer. I hope this helps!
@@lucynigro22 I didn't see this before and hopefully you already resolved it but I would do basic troubleshooting, say I'm not using a mouse just the trackpad I would try connecting a mouse and viceversa and I believe you can right click on the disk and select the "erase" option there as well. What I know is from experience so I'm not sure why it wasn't letting you click on it.

I also have Boom installed, but when I turn off Boom I still hear the lisp. Should I restore it back to OS Mojave? Would upgrading to OS Monterey fix this? Just remove the device from icloud account. You don't have to perform all these tasks. Format your hdd w cmd R
