apple is a very annoying company. they in fact keep your crendentials at a partition you cannot delete and even associates the hardware information with it. you cannot just wipe it, it retains the old find my or icloud emails of the previous user and will require their password to continue

All good, but the only thing missing is how do you close down from the last Welcome page. All I see is a continue button, not a Shut Down button, so that when the new owner starts the apple, the welcome screen is the actual start screen ? Thanks in advance.

Excellent instruction video. I followed this video step by step to reset my MBP. Just one noted, the computer has to be connected to the internet when you have to install the o/s, otherwise you will get some kind of errors.
I’m selling mine and I’m worried that whoever buys it will be able to see something of mine when they use it even if I have factory reset it and everything so when u say sign out of ur accounts, do u JUST mean Apple apps? Like the ones you mentioned, or do you mean apps that aren’t pre-installed and u download urself… like discord or WhatsApp or something like that? If you delete those apps (which I’ve done with mine) does it automatically sign you out so that anyone who logs in using their Apple ID and everything cannot then see ur past stuff on it?? I’m worried about it 😭

Great advice. I recently bought an Apple “Certified Refurbished” MacBook Pro but it still retained the previous owner’s user info. Good thing I am an honest person. But that stuff obviously had to go for any other reason so it would not interfere with my system. Now I plan to erase my mini to convert it into a server. Unless you all know something I don’t know I have to hardwire connect to a keyboard to to complete task. But I don’t plan to sell any Mac for a very long time.

I have a mac mini which has an admin user by a former employee and I am unable to get hold of him. If I erase the hdd and resinstall OS, will I have trouble signing in later? Because the icloud login is in his credential and there is no other admin with which I could reset the password, tried contacting him and that was a no go. So my question is will erasing the hdd would give a fresh start for me or would have trouble later?
I did this but I went ahead and went to set it up just to check everything had cleared. I skipped all of the steps setting up a new profile and didn't connect to my WiFi but after setup the WiFi was still connected; hence not all my data had been deleted?
I got to the point where I could install... but it will not allow anything to be installed on the drive? I can get to Disk Utility, but the Disk is unable to be installed upon as it says it's Locked?

I’m kinda wondering…. If you format the hard drive which removes the OS…. How does the IMac know your internet settings in order to get back online and reinstall the OS? Does your network have to be DHCP? I’m guessing the Mac wont know your old static IP.
Your instructions are very quick and a bit vague I have a new 2020 model and I don’t have a sign out button anywhere I’ve looked everywhere I’ve reset it and it still comes up as mine.

How are you supposed to sign out of iMessages if you sign out of Apple account first? I think you have the steps in the wrong order. It won’t let you access iMessages after having signed out of your Apple ID.

I'm looking to dump my 2011 iMac with High Sierra. Does erasing the HD also erase the passwords and other private info? I don't even see App lID in settings. Thank you.
After I erased and chose the disc i created to reinstall it asked me to sign in to iTunes before it reinstalled (and took me back to the welcome screen). Am I still ok to stop? When the new person turns it on, if I leave it as is, they’ll have the disc utility page to start.
When I did all this, my iMac was on High Sierra, and when I came to the point of downloading the OSX from the internet, it is unlikely it can go backward to the OSX it suggested, Mountain Lion, so then it said "a required download is missing" in order to install Mountain Lion, so now it seems locked onto the grey screen with no way back.
I can't sign out of puictures for some reason because the photo library is completely empty and it just takes me back to the windows of all the services and apps using iCloud. Any way I could solve this?

After you get the welcome screen at the end of the process, do you just power the machine down manually?
