The best review for the M340i I've ever seen. Loved the terrific shots of the older 3-Series cars. I have a 2020 340i, rear wheel drive that's awesome. Power, handling, electronics, and interior are great. I strongly recommend the adaptive suspension, forget the annoying lane change assist. I switched to a set of non-runflat tires for a big improvement. Why is BMW so wedded to heavy, harsh riding run flats?

Always enjoy watching your videos. Very well done. I have the the M340xi for a year now and I find your comments on the car are spot on. What this version of the BMW shines to me is definitely the engine, the quality of the interior (mine has the Merino leather interior), and the adaptive suspension. I can't agree more with you that the steering is so numb that makes this car a lot less enjoyable to drive. I think partly this is due to the fact that the steering wheel is so unnecessarily thick. The ride height makes it like an SUV too and I dropped mine with a set of AC springs and that solved the issue. The ride is just like stock after the drop which proves that the adaptive suspension works well with aftermarket springs too. That is not the case for the previous generation.

Great review , agree with everything you have said except the shortcut buttons, they are really useful. Especially as manufacturers are slowly getting rid of physical buttons, it’s such a pain when you have to go through the menus to sometimes do something really basic.
I personally like the numbered buttons for the specific reason that it gives a nod to previous versions of the car, and in some way I can't explain, it kind of adds to the sportiness of the vehicle.
This grill was grilled when first unveiled a few years ago, because it's a one piece grill now.. and now everyone loves it. same cycle every time. The grill on the new m3/m4 suits the aggressive personality of the car, and I imagine its looks beastly and menacing when seen in the metal
I don't care what the 1-8 buttons look like, but they are extremely useful and I use them during most journeys. Regarding the steering, you very quickly get used to it and I find it very good.
Fun fact for you BMW Fanboys about the "Hofmeister kink": this has a double meaning in German. A Hofmeister in German translates as steward [of an estate] and kink in German also means to make a curtsey. So it is not only just a kink designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister but it also resembles a steward (Hofmeister) making a curtsey (kink).
Leave the buttons, shortcuts are the best no one else does it. Digital cockpit not that important since I rely almost entirely on the heads up display which is so good. Press Park Assist button to activate normal camera mode (the other camera button is to activate front facing camera)
few minuses of 340i: 1) fake exhaust sound 2) fake exhaust tips 3) cheap-looking steering wheel 4) no air suspension 5) uncomfortable seats + extension goes between the legs, they don't rest on it 6) the interior is built and looks muuuuch better, but it still feels cheap, when you are inside!
This sounds like the perfect car for me! Great review. I’ll look at getting one when depreciation brings them down a bit in a few years. In the meantime I’m enjoying my 2011 535i.
@PUSCASH disagree, 911 is a 911, and u won't see crazy modifications in the next gen's. Probably I get used to it in the future, but my point is, bmw can't do this to legendary cars. I hope they don't mess with M5.
Superb review with some great graphics and enjoyed the history lesson at the beginning. Best in class review, the M4 of reviews versus Achilles who is also excellent but perhaps 330i ish.
You should try the steering in Sport Mode It feels a bit stiff but you may find it gets rid of the vagueness of the steering in Confort Mode, especially at highway speeds

False, value of cars pretty much stayed the same through out time. Technology gets cheaper and faster every year; because of this, we can add more technology in cars or even in the company itself. It's currencies that keep getting lower in value hence why price of cars get more expensive.
Hey Raz, Props on you for pointing out the quality of the interior. Very well observed! I'm tired of hearing people say: "BMW's interior is sh*t"..... without even being in it... they just say it by default. (Same as the "BIIIG GRILL" .... GLS's grill is bigger than the X7's, audi A8's grill is bigger than the one on the 7 series..... but yet no one complains about that... so funny) :d Great video as always !
I’ve drive an rs5 sport back and the m340i. I would 100% go for m340i. The m340i felt a bit quicker tbh. The rs5 probably handles a bit better, but for 95k…. It’s not even close to being worth it. I’d rather get a slightly used m340i for around 50k and be all set. I have yet to drive a better car that has wowed me as much as the m340i. I have driven the glc63 and fpace svr and I love both. The jaguar was ferocious and sounded amazing. My favorite cars so far are the glc63, fpace svr, and m340i. I’m looking to drive an m5 and the new g80 m3 xdrive to see if it’s a significant difference over the m340i.

@@kevinetz5 ur m2c or og m2? I just sold my m340i for same reasons. Unfortunately I realized It is more a luxury and big sedan than a performance car. I used to drive my Gti and got to that conclusion. The gti has even more steering feedback and suspension feel than m340i and somewhat many times more fun. So i am looking for a m2c and should get one soon.
@@audiophilemetallian Regular good old M2, mainly for the sound and for budget reasons. You are far more limited in what you can get out of the m2 competition exhaust legally in Europe. The OG M2 has its flaws for sure, but the pros outweigh them for me by far
Interior is simple subtle and beautiful
Definitely a high quality review. Worthy of a like and even a subscribe! Done and done.
17:34 i am really happy that they didn't get rid of these and hope they never will. Being able to program them to your liking makes them very useful. I can oneclick to any menu i prefer which is great. I use these everytime i get in my bmw.
The detail to detail point explaining is why i love this channel 😁
BMW built the G20 so well because they knew all along that they were going to fck up the G80
😁😁😁
You are correct this is the m car not that poopoo garbish..
This is my daily car, absolutely unbelievable car!
Lmk when you want to sell it
Correct choice
Behind the scenes fact: This was filmed before the last lockdown! It was actually a heat wave during these days. 🤣
Wow that was a long time ago
Where's the heat coming off of the asphalt? 😂
Great review , agree with everything you have said except the shortcut buttons, they are really useful. Especially as manufacturers are slowly getting rid of physical buttons, it’s such a pain when you have to go through the menus to sometimes do something really basic.
I pick up mine tomorrow I can’t wait 🤩
Enjoy the ride, it’s a beautiful car, saving up for one too 👌🏾
I personally like the numbered buttons for the specific reason that it gives a nod to previous versions of the car, and in some way I can't explain, it kind of adds to the sportiness of the vehicle.
This is the perfect grill, bmw should have stayed with this design.
It did, hence why you're looking at it. So the M3 and M4 have bigger grills. So what.
Agreed
This grill was grilled when first unveiled a few years ago, because it's a one piece grill now.. and now everyone loves it. same cycle every time. The grill on the new m3/m4 suits the aggressive personality of the car, and I imagine its looks beastly and menacing when seen in the metal
Yes this car with a wide body perfect
Where's the E36 in the intro!
Thats why this channel sucks
@@inigogarinherrera4455 lol
I dont think if his channel sucks chris harris would be sitting with him at a park having a chat about cars

Simply the best car reviewer out there...
First time viewer and I'm super impressed ! Love your graphics !
the graphics in this video are fantastic!
I don't care what the 1-8 buttons look like, but they are extremely useful and I use them during most journeys.
Regarding the steering, you very quickly get used to it and I find it very good.
What a lineage, all 3 series been amaze-balls
Raz, your production is sublime! Just saying, keep it up :)
These reviews are just perfect. No extra bullshit, straight to the points.
Press Park Assist button to activate normal camera mode (the other camera button is to activate front facing camera)
few minuses of 340i:
1) fake exhaust sound
2) fake exhaust tips
3) cheap-looking steering wheel
4) no air suspension
5) uncomfortable seats + extension goes between the legs, they don't rest on it
6) the interior is built and looks muuuuch better, but it still feels cheap, when you are inside!
youre editing is so damn dope....keep it up brother
Great video 🙏🏽🔥🔥
3:40 have you said that V8 in M3 e90/92 was turbo? It was naturally aspirated engine
As always, honest, good review but E90 M3 was naturally aspirated. Keep up the great work!
I think he was talking about the other variants of the three series at the time
This sounds like the perfect car for me! Great review. I’ll look at getting one when depreciation brings them down a bit in a few years. In the meantime I’m enjoying my 2011 535i.
I would stay with this over the new M3 just cause of the grill, no doubt.
I wish they kept this grill for the M3 what a shame
I hated the new grill, but then I saw the new M3 in real life in the color “frozen grey” and it looked really bad ass..
The grill is for performance over anything, y’all are stuck in the past
Or there’s the alpine b3
@PUSCASH disagree, 911 is a 911, and u won't see crazy modifications in the next gen's. Probably I get used to it in the future, but my point is, bmw can't do this to legendary cars. I hope they don't mess with M5.
The perfect daily ..! And yes needs to be lower 😉 Great work as every RBR !
Thats a nice front grill on that BMW.
Amazing production of this video. Congratulations on a job well done.
Superb review with some great graphics and enjoyed the history lesson at the beginning. Best in class review, the M4 of reviews versus Achilles who is also excellent but perhaps 330i ish.
I really love this channel's objectivity
You should try the steering in Sport Mode It feels a bit stiff but you may find it gets rid of the vagueness of the steering in Confort Mode, especially at highway speeds
THIS is what the new M3/M4 should have looked like! Someone really screwed up at BMW.
Yes and where the hell is the Hoffmeister kink in the new 4-series or M4?
@@Latexi_LMX I'm still trying to figure out where BMW is even going for with the new M3/M4🤷🏻♂️🤔.
I mean it’s got:
-Pontiac GTO hood
-Split Audi front grill🐽 (the pig snout)
-Mustang side profile
-Lexus style rear end
-KITH as a marketing partner (overpriced garbage clothes btw).
-And lacks the Hoffmeister kink.
BMW has lost their way for sure🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@carrier7676 Sadly have to agree! Glad I have my E92.
@@Latexi_LMX I have my e39 M5 and an F80 on the way, both of which will skyrocket in price thanks to the new piggies
@@carrier7676 Awesome cars!
Really good video; lots of topics discussed that other reviewers didn’t mention. Thanks!
Refreshingly in-depth breakdown
Great content!
The old school NBA theme is used here around beginning lol
Loved that theme!! 😍😍
When people complain why car prices are getting more expensive, they should watch your videos
False, value of cars pretty much stayed the same through out time. Technology gets cheaper and faster every year; because of this, we can add more technology in cars or even in the company itself. It's currencies that keep getting lower in value hence why price of cars get more expensive.
Lads this for those who wanted the m3 but absolutely HATE that grill!
Well that or the Alpina version!
Hey Raz,
Props on you for pointing out the quality of the interior. Very well observed!
I'm tired of hearing people say:
"BMW's interior is sh*t"..... without even being in it... they just say it by default.
(Same as the "BIIIG GRILL" .... GLS's grill is bigger than the X7's, audi A8's grill is bigger than the one on the 7 series..... but yet no one complains about that... so funny) :d
Great video as always !
Very well done and honest review. -3 series owner here.
That number 1-8 buttons is a must for me
Super useful for daily use !!!!!!
Loved your overlay graphics
What neat editing of all the models man! 👍🏻
My RWD M240i had the same numb rubber band feeling steering. Really made me miss my E90 335i hydraulic setup.
Which one would you pick to keep overall ?
Raz, try pressing the button next to the hazard button in order for u to turn on the 360 camera
360 cam. All you need is press the Park “P” next to the gear shift
The shortcut buttons are very useful for me. Mine is the LCI X3 though.
E30 was art
Have the 330i M sport. Steering is vague on the motorway and the comfort is compromised on the harder suspension.
This is way better than the C class on the inside.
The build quality is miles better. Feels more premium. Less plastic parts.
As for the design its also better. The previous model started in 2012ish so it was really dated in about 4 years when the C class came along.
I can agree, just sat in a 3 series today and it's interior is way better than a Mercedes or Audi interior
First review I’ve watched from RBR, great 👍
Im beginning to like his videos, well done Raz 👏

BMW are giving it to Merc nowadays, great review, respects from South Africa
Beauty ride. Had to leave my 430 i GC behind. BMW makes great driving cars
Review of the m550i would be a good watch . Hard choice ( for me anyway, the m340i or m550i? Both used obviously. But unsure atm )
