Definitely knock it out, its one of those things that is easy to fix and really annoying if you find your self in a pinch and something else is going on under the hood but you also have to fight the hood.

The oem ones are thick struts, the $20 jobs I got off Amazon are tiny. I’m not convinced they’ll hold up the heavy lx470 hood

might not want to use an AXE if the hood slips and the axe ends up under you neck it won't look good!
Absolutely, I was just being a little funny/sarcastic with that. A guitar would be a much better option lol.
My mom's Camry has that problem. I'll do hers whenever I go back. Looks like this is a Toyota issue
These go bad on all cars I would say just check them periodically.
