"There are two kinds of men in this world. Those with a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who never heard of her." -- Willie Nelson
Her rendition of Blue Bayou simply wrecks me....OH MY !
so very true, Mr. Piperata, saw her give an outstanding performance in Kansas City in the late seventies. She was on fire that night,
she sang her heart out that night, I was lucky to be there.
Dominic Piperata , exactly: if any lady could do that song by the Stones it was Linda Ronstadt.
Lol did willie nelson get her at all?
Great comment brother,Linda oozes.I would of loved to make her sing.
Grab the microphone, let the band fly and sing your heart out. OMG what a concept. Linda had pipes of glory and she didn't bathe in her own reflection.
No auto tune No lip sync No distracting dance show! Just comes out and sings the song! WOW! Wish we had this today.
Right on bro!!
I adore this woman.. my daddy was head over heels crazy about her…. Still my favorite female singer…
Beautiful ❤️
Queen of her Scene. Feminine and strong. I believed almost everything Linda wrapped those pipes around. Sang her lovin' heart out and let her bandmates shine. How rare...sigh.
Unadorned important pipes. Her band mates were so devoted to her. Even when they moved on to other gigs they would praise her to the heavens.
I know this comment is new for an old vid but I can't stop watching this, fantastic.
I’ve watched this many times over the years.
There are 2 type of men in the world those who Love Linda and those that never heard of her!
You're right, I agree!
Willie Nelson.
Damn, Waddy Wachtel gettin it in that solo! What a show to be at
I've seen Linda live twice and it was stupendous. But I'm given to understand that this concert was something special from word of mouth and interviews. There are three shows I would have made a deal with the Devil to see. The Band's Last Waltz concert at Wintergarden in San Francisco; Queen doing Live Aid at Wembley; And this gem. I did get to see Bob Seger when he was doing the recorded concert for Live Bullet in Detroit and that was awesome.
In the early 70's I used to wake up to "Blue Bayou" all the time...
This world has gone to shit since then!
In a hand basket!
Not a trace of BS. 100% analog talent.❤
And you know only great things could happen with Linda and Waddy on stage. Awesome!

This is Linda in her prime. Absolute perfection and powerful. Best female singer of her time.
Others could be: Donna Summer, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Nicks, Loretta Lynn, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad from ABBA, Christine McVie, Kate Bush, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton.

@@wildmercuryfilms All those are fine except Patti (pretentious no talent)Smith. But they are pop/ rock/country singers. Linda was one the greatest vocalists of the 20th Century and much much more.
There are great rock singers, country singers, Broadway singers, and Latin singers - and there was Linda Ronstadt, a bright, young interpretive singer.
She was the first female singer to sell out sports stadiums. Millions of people bought tickets to hear Ms. Ronstadt sing other people's songs.
7:10 Waddy starts his solo. 7:55 his guitar strap falls off, he puts his leg up on the stage to support the weight of his guitar, Linda has no clue what's going on, her back is towards him, finally at 8:30 the bass player walks across the stage and tells Linda that Waddy needs a little help, Linda puts down her tambourine and fixes the strap for him while he's still in his solo, never missing a note... at 9:20 his solo is over and Linda gives him a big smile then turns and starts singing again... at 9:24 she tosses her tambourine down and goes back into being the hottest female singer on the planet.
Incredible! And he doesn't miss a lick.
She makes tossing a tambourine soooooo sexy. ❤❤❤
Awesome! And it looks like the drummer is yelling something to the bassist.
Indeed!
Linda is and always will be a Queen 👸🏻
Her voice and what she can do with it are gobsmacking. Pitch, volume, dynamic range, vibrato, subtlety, impact, everything. She can let her voice break in a bunch of different ways and then bring it back under perfect control in a millisecond. Just amazing.
Damn what a voice. One of the best female singers ever without question.
what a great artist!
She would blow that Lady GaGa chick off the stage.
@@michaelcap9550 oh yes
She is the best ...
One of the best of all time, so sorry that she is no longer able to sing. Mamma Linda will always be #1 to me!!!
This version of Tumbling Dice is just simply my favorite live female rock vocal performance.
Nice to see great male musicians backing one of the greatest female voices of all time. Love Linda!!!
This is why I studied electronics, Just to hear her better. She has that that thing is hard for words to describe. She makes me happy when she sings.
Not too many Ladies can Rock a Stones Song like Linda,,, KillerJob Lady
She outright owns this song !!!💕❤️💕
This was so awesome oh my God she was rocking they were rocking this is great
Linda has the ultimate rockin power vocals ....
I'm 68 years old and back in the day every woman wanted to be Linda, and every guy just wanted her...me included Lol!
I'm 69 and I still want her to this day.
The woman could get it done!!❤️
Loved when they used the painted on jeans. She’s gorgeous here with great voice.
Omg what a Rock Chick she was. Loved this era.
Linda Ronstadt is who God created when he wanted to show off.
Rare & remarkable.💕
She didn't just sing, she was the music.
Golly I had such a boy crush on her as a teenager 😏❤
YES, SHE IS/WAS
I'm pretty sure she just sang
Saw Linda 7 times between '70 & '83 -------------had it been 70, it would not have been nearly enough ! and yes-------I'm one of those millions of guys with a mad crush on her --------how could it be otherwise ?? Beauty--------Brains-----------Class------Heart-----------& that voice , OMG, that voice . -------------Linda, U R #1 with me, 4-ever, & ever. -----------------------------MJL, 74 y/o
40 years later and I'm still in love
Yes...hell yes!!
Yes we all are.
Em, yes I'm still here in the queue too!
Couldn't say it better brother or sister
Saw her in concert in Dec 1978. To this day one of the best concerts I have ever seen. She was the and still is one of the best singers of all time. There is no comparison between her voice and the auto-tuned voices of today's singers.
Who wasn't in love with Linda Ronstadt.😍🥰😘
She never got any of the recognition she deserved, for me she is easily one of the best female vocalist to ever sing!!!! I love Linda she is a icon.
When she was read hot from 1975-1980 she was definitely recognized. She was on the cover of RS 5 times during that time period. Radio stations advertised that they played her music in heavy rotation. And she had several number one albums. But what happened is that she switched from country rock and pop to all kinds of different genres. And she lost her looks. She was forgotten by the cool kids and the critics who wanted purity from their sex rock queens.
2.5 million views - I'm not into numbers in that way so much, but that's recognized.
~~ she was recognized - she has 11 Grammy awards and various others to prove it - but from a fan & critical perspective she was not easy to categorize - early in her career a country music publication wrote of her; "Rock people thought she was too gentle, folk people thought she was too pop, and pop people didn't quite understand where she was at - but Country people really loved Linda" - and she kept on blending different types of music & influences later on in her career - so she really defied being packaged into any one genre box ..
Linda Ronstadt was recognized but music went to Hip Hop and only Country singers have been heard since the the 90s. She also got a lot of recognition being in the Trio with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton.
Just wow
I always loved her voice but I am just now realizing that her band was killer, too! Wow, that is excellent.
Stone Ponies , I believe.
At one point they were the band that went on to be called the Eagles!
These are top LA studio players. Her first band started their own group (the Eagles), but commercial success allowed her to pull people on tour who normally made double and triple scale 8 hours a day and went home at night. In the same period James Taylor was touring with "The Section", another group of studio cats.
@@LawrencedeMartin Hate to sound ignorant, but used to it. When you say first band , do you mean Stone Ponies?
@@trevormiles5852 yes. If you look closely at the "Different Drum" album cover, that is Henley & Frey. I saw the Eagles' second gig in Boulder CO, that band turned over pretty fast in their search for "perfect sound".
Mind blowing good!
Brilliant !
Loved her then , love her now. What a talent.
Waddy's guitar strap comes off midway through his "You're No Good" solo and Linda puts it back on while he plays. Nobody misses a beat. Great band and performance. Linda at her best.

Magnificent.
Tricking country bumpkins into listening to actual music is The LORD'S Work.
Linda Ronstadt RULES ALL
Best female rock singer ever.
I've yet to know or hear a female vocalist as talented, effortlessly sing and belt out as she did..
Linda Ronstadt had the best loud clear precise voice in the whole music business... and she was Hot looking without acting it or being stuck up about it!
She was the total package. Talented, charismatic singer and gorgeous.
She was surely all of that...
To say she was the total package doesn't give her enough credit
@@toneman335 Exactly!!
Kirkola AND THEN SOME! BEST FEMALE SINGER EVER!!!!
toneman335 AMEN and Amen 🙏🏻
She is by definition The queen of rock. The first female superstar of rock defines her as The. Linda Ronstadt.
Whom ever gave thumbs down don't no nothing about music
With due respect to the stones she killed it
I saw on a documentary about her that Mick and Keith caught one of her shows. Afterwards, Mick told her she had enough ballads in her set, needed more rock and roll and was welcome to any of their songs.
So bummed You tube would only allow me to give just one thumbs up. Linda was one of a kind❤️
No ‘Autotune’ here folks. Just pure vocal talent . While she may never perform again, she can be proud of a life of professionalism and accomplishment. God bless Linda for all the great fun times she brought to this guy during his lifetime.
What is autotune?

Nothing on her voice. A really good singer singing.

Saw Linda around 1982 or so, unbelievable beauty, talent, voice, performer, band. Never be another Linda Ronstadt, true female trailblazer. Miss you, Linda, tragic that you lost that remarkable voice.
No meat suit necessary, no legs akimbo in a leotard with auto tune on overdrive...just pure, unadulterated raw talent in all her beauty. Lovely Linda.
Knoxville, TN on 11/05/1977! My first concert. A $6.00 ticket price.
Incredible voice! When she does that gravelly thing and then smooths it all out... wow
Hard to believe this beautiful little lady had such a big voice and that growl, my God man. :)
Waddy Wachel really is an outstanding guitarist!
I'm a guitarist and Waddy is in my top 5
He has quite a career playing with many of the biggest acts of the 70's and 80's

Saw him last week with The Immediate Family and he was superb, as usual.
Interesting how he switched from the les paul to a strat towards the end of "Tumbling Dice."
Man, she could sing. The microphone, the band and a world class lead singer. Linda was the bomb.
The way she complements them. Smashing!
Stunning in all respects!
World class band too. I mean, listen too them. Damn good live!
She could indeed and she worked hard at it..talent and hard work...hard to beat.
There are many great performers out there, but for me she was in a class all by herself!!!! Beautiful voice! Beautiful woman!
Linda was a bad ass!!!
Not just a great singer but a really great band too. The amount of musical talent on that stage is breath-taking.
She was the BEST...and Always will be! 😍
i appreciate, she steps back to let the band play, sometimes even in the dark. what a contrast to today's " stars "
Linda Ronstadt is a quality talent that always comes to the top in all her songs, singing and music!***********************************Singer/Songwriter/Walker Ikard
They always say the original is the best. This is one of the best Rolling Stones songs and Linda smashes it. Linda will always rock.
Waddy Wachtel is such an excellent session guitarist.
he played on more hit records than people realize
I am only one of a million young boys who grew up in the 70's totally in love with Linda. I know every song, can sing it, can feel it, can live it. I thank God I was born when I was. I got the best of our world!
Amen my friend.....another young kid here!!
Gets better each time I check it out.
Can’t find the words for her other than wow, no one like her.🌺
Saw her in concert 1977. Still gives me goosebumps
Can't believe how we used to just take this sort of music for granted at the time. It's so true that you never truly realize the value of something until you no longer have it.
Ahhh...but we still do have it sir. It's right HERE on the inter-tube, it's in our record collections, and it is indelibly imprinted on our very molecules. We have been steeped in this music for years and years and it will never, ever go away. Its energy is all over the world and inside our souls.
Never ever took it for granted paid and paid for anything I loved if I could. From Bob Seger to John Farnham if it was good I paid. It was my duty and still is. You tube listening is a conumdrum for me though as my son just purchased for my birthday remote head phones connected to my computer he brought me for the birthday before that. Now I can bop to Linda et al around the kitchen when cooking drinking and bopping. Oh I said that already. Oh well you get the picture I hope.
A little joni in there
. I saw Laura nyro once in detroit , she killed .
Linda is awesome live in concert. And here she is in her Prime. If you've seen her, you love her! Awesome vocals.
Amazing. Period.
Takes me back to my high school days in the '70s. She was hot! She is probably the best female singer out there. She is the full package. So sad that she cannot sing anymore. What a talent.
My god...she is stunning
If she isn't the greatest ever popular music singer then good luck convincing her fans like me that someone else is. And she could sing any genre to perfection. Simply amazing. Always with a top shelf backing ensemble. And a physical beauty as well. Such a package. Thank God we have many of her recordings to enjoy now that she is restricted singing wise.
Pat Benetar was on the same level. They are the two best pop/rock singers over the last 50+ years.
@@jamesbarrick3403 just my opinion, nothing personal but PB is hardly on the same level as Ronstadt when it comes to singing. Benatar has a powerful delivery but as RKennedy said Linda Ronstadt sang many different genres/styles of music and each time it was like she studied only that genre, that she was born singing only that style. Correct me please if I'm wrong but I don't know of any Pat Benatar recordings outside of rock/pop.
@@rcanoli99 Yea you should do some research on PB. First off she is classically trained opera singer. That is her roots growing up in NYC. She married young and sang in a local band in VA folksy country I guess you could say. She split that scene and went back to NYC with a mission to do exactly what she did. Listen to her studio or live recordings you will hear her voice is amazing and she effortlessly belts out perfect pitch ranging 4-5 octaves. Vocally she does not take a back seat to anybody. If you prefer Linda's style that is fair. But look into more PB and I think you will be very impressed. They are on the same tier of female vocalists for sure, and they both have the receipts to show it. But let's be PERFECTLY HONEST here... the reason these two women are huge stars is because they were both gorgeous. You can go to any Baptist church on Sunday and find a few women that can sing so well... seriously a great voice is a dime a dozen and that is the truth. It takes a great mixture of song writing and marketability (that means sex appeal for women) and yes a great voice to become a huge star. Linda did not write any songs but that did not hold her back... she did sing great songs and showed good taste in doing so. Pat wrote with Neil Geraldo and they made a great team. But do not kid yourself if either of them were not so good looking you would have never heard of either of them. sex sells always has and always will.
@@jamesbarrick3403 Thanks for the PB info I woulda never guessed; never heard anything but her hits, when she was always bitchin at somebody lol. That girl musta had some rough times getting love.
As far sex sells of course that's true. But don't kid yourself those church singers may have great voices - and a great voice is a dime a dozen - but to take a song and make it your own, to put it over as if it's your own, that sells more than the looks. Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday...were these gorgeous women? Not to me. But I could listen to either one all day. Sinatra is another - handsome sure but what made him great and a legend was the way he sang. His voice was good I don't know if it was great..but his phrasing was great, his delivery. Anyway thanks again for the Pat Benatar education I will def search for some of her other stuff.
Linda could sing anything!!
Waddy Wachtel you made me play guitar like you thanks for the performances AKA Stevie Nicks Keith Richards
OMG, this beautiful, talented woman.
Fuc**ng PURE talent, greatest backing band ever, I hate that she can't sing anymore. God Bless you, Linda!

Every millisecond of this is GREAT!
The amazing thing about her is she is timeless. This music holds up even today 43 years later.
And some songs are 30 years prior... She is a Master thats all watching one of the greatest smile for us

No weird hair, no nose rings, no tattoos. Just great singing and delivery. Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, and Linda Ronstadt?

They need all that to hide the lack of talent.
Linda alone created the Eagles. She also had a big role in many great musicians for the future, , she was all about the music and helping anywhere she can. God bless she did a great job.
In the days when people listened during quiet dynamics of a performance, Linda was still young, ( as well as some of us ) and rock was about the performance, instead of cell phones and selfies.
Beauty, power vocals, and emotion, in a little latina from Tucson.
No one sounds like her to this day.
As close to perfection as anyone could get, the whole band was underappreciated for all the great music they made. Still to this day that group of guys made the best studio recordings and managed to help make Linda Ronstadt's music timeless.
she's responsible for the Eagles as we know them, even with all thier infighting and whatnot , what a hell of a genius she was to put that crew together . Beauty and Brains. A one of a kind no doubt, there won't be another Linda ....
Yes! God Bless Her!!!!!~~
Such an incredible beauty and MASSIVE talent!! This woman will forever be untouchable. Truth be told...it don't get much better than 1977 Linda Ronstadt! :)
That’s the truth!
True
@@richardcranium5048 Pretty good band as well
Agreed with maybe a slight tweak - I'd go back a few months when Andrew Gold was still playing in her band. This group here is outstanding and if you never heard A. Gold and W. Wachtel going at it you wouldn't know you're missing anything. But that was always a highlight of her shows for me, those 2 trading and combining licks on the rockin' songs like TD and YNG, Heatwave, When Will I Be Loved etc.
she got sick, thats all what a cryin shame...
The band was incredible. Linda's voice, superb.
To show how talented they were, Linda puts on waddy’s guitar strap back on and he just keeps playing, didn’t miss a beat.
How does that GIANT sound come outa that tiny girl !!! What a voice !!
One the the best concerts by Linda. She is actually enjoying every song. Her demeanor was loose and playful .. then out came her beautiful powerful voice
Damn. I had to watch twice, add to favorites and post on Facebook. Linda rocks.
Good looking Lady, & She could belt out those Vocals... WE LOVE YOU!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜✌️
Back in 77, I wanted to look like Linda. Look at her. She had the body, the beauty, the talent. Now, I look better. Aging is a wild and crazy ride. We never know what tomorrow will bring. But we know that, once upon a time, Linda ruled the airwaves!
Maybe the purist voice anyone has ever been born with. It's so damn natural. Waddy Wachtel. Good stuff.
Linda gots the pipes
@ 2:51 OMG, full body chills! And my god, her pitch was impeccable. Love this woman!
Always brings a tear to my eye, perfection.
Heading out the base in San Diego when Different Drum came out. Thought to myself this chic is going to be a star. She was every guys fantasy in the late 60’s & 70’s. One of the greatest singers ever. Today women can’t compare with her.
Anyone who doubts her rock and roll cred should listen to this. A voice that handles 70s guitars with blasting clarity and soul. Rock on darling Linda.
So MUCH CRAP that poses as rock and roll. THIS is good.
IT'S CRIMINAL THAT A CLASSIC ROCK STATION REFUSES TO PLAY THE QUEEN OF ROCK LINDA RONSTADT!

Early 1980s, I saw her in concert shortly after she'd been on Broadway in the musical "The Pirates Of Penzance". You're talking about singing 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day.
In concert, her voice was unbelievable !!
A full-throated, multi dimensional, rounded-out upper and lower vocal registers. Tremendous power, grinding her gears when the lyric called for it.
All without pain, zero strain.
That night, she was second to none.
Needless to say, I saw her at the right time in the arc of her career.
Unreal.
@@markg9253 Thank you for that post. To my regret, never saw her live-was just an oblivious teen/twenty-something who listened to her records and the car radio. But if I had had the wherewithal to buy a ticket and go see her, post-Penzance would've been the time I would've wanted to see her. She had gotten some voice training to deal with the demands of that role was at the top of her game. Appreciate your describing what I missed!
Linda Live. . .well here we are still listening.
At the absolute apex of her talents, Linda and her supertight band are truly astonishingly great here.
timkjazz my God she always had the best musicians backing her. Why? Because they wanted to play for and with the best.
You could not say better
Bonnie Chandler SO RIGHT Bonnie!
@@BonnChnd well said
And her super tight pants as well ;)
9:18 - 9:19 that smile really gets me, she just loves it!
She said when she walked into the studio they said:" here comes mighty mouse." She is only 5'2" with loads of vocal power
