I can’t believe I’ve been watching your videos for a decade and you’re still rocking the same intro 🥰

That was a nice new touch adding photos of the bottles you recommend. Great vid as always.

And with an airbrush the model airline metals flow amazingly. Used their aluminium on a p51 and ita the smoothest metal ive ever put down.
Seeing as im looking to switch up from gw to vallejo and they use inks this is informative for my necrons.
Big reason to switch brands is simply, vallejo goes into an airbrush easier with the bottles for thinning and mixing ratios.

The best metallic paint out there is Vallejo Acrylic Metal Color airbrush paints...The best hands down...many colors as well...

Maybe as far as acrylics go. But if you want genuinely brilliant metallics, get Alclad.

@@nuadhufireheart Came to make that exact comment. Vallegjo Metal Color is the best acrylic pre-made airbrush stuff, but nothing beats Alclad

Some of them yes, but some are too thin for brush painting I find. The Air Colors hit the sweet spot for consistency for me.

When you say that Rust is a good undercoat for brown, do you mean for brown metals or for brown nonmetals? I would like to see an example of how you use it.

Came across this looking for ideas for my black power armor space marines. What are the pros/cons using inks vs enamel washes? Never done either, yet.

Try Vallejo Metal Colour, they are made of aluminium, even better than the paints used in this video.

For "grey" Metal colors, nothing beats Vallejo "Metal Color Airbrush Colors" pots - insane coverage, and no lumpiness

I found some are too thin for brush painting, so as a general recommendation I prefer to suggest the Air Colors. Less problems getting hard to use colors.

@@ThePaintingClinic I have never had any issues with the Vallejo Metal Colors when using brush. I have tried most of the colors and they all function the same. They are so far above all the other metallics that I just don't see why anyone would use anything else. The model Air (which I also have quite a few) are nowhere near the quality. For gold metallic their colors are not that great, but for steel colors there are no substitutes when it comes to acrylics.

Use inks to preserve the metallic sheen. Thank you.

So now that I've seen you use both on various projects which do you think is better? Model Air metallics or the Metal Color range?

    • @ThePaintingClinic

Depends on what you are painting. Brush painting miniatures I prefer Air.. Metal for airbrushing.

can you use actual inks or are the Vallejo inks some other kind of formula ?

    • @EricHonaker
      @EricHonaker 3 роки тому +3

Vallejo inks are pretty standard acrylic inks. So any acrylic ink should work similarly.

as far as inks go doesnt matter to much but Artist inks are a great way to go as well, you get tons for the price as well. Marco Frisoni uses alot of inks and oils in his stuff, he is a mad man ha

VMA Metalics are mostly great imo with one major exception. the gold and brass colors suck. (Edit: lol you nailed it)

It sounds silly but I actually find painting grey metal the hardest, gold not so much
