If Georges Seurat was a hobbyist.
Seriously though, I'm going to have to give this a go - thanks for the video!
Excellent results!
Love how painting can be so exciting
very cool technique and love the way the cape turned out
The stippling effect gives a rich lustre to the wizards clothing. Almost like metallic satin. Have to remember to try this for myself. Thanks for showing us.
the lighter dots within darker ones you did on the wizards yoke remind me happily of old 1980's White Dwarf paint schemes, thanks!
Never realized it until now, but to me the result that the stippling produces at this scale kinda makes it look like the material has been tie-dyed. More so on the blue cloak than the robes. Kind of a neat effect. Also like the crystal ball. Thanks!
I love the way the cape turned out
That's just fantastic!!
That wizard looks awesome! Nice technique
All those dots... would drive me insane XD
They're giving me art class flashbacks. I HATED when we had to practice stippling.
@@jchang1985 oh god, I totally forgot that... thanks for those nightmares returning now XD
Fantastic work!!
BEAUTIFUL! Once again; great work and new ideas for me.
Amazing how cool this turned out!!!! Good stuff always love your vids!
Thanks that is a fantastic effect!
Impressive! You have to have the patience of a monk or a saint to pull that off!
Amazing video ty for the hard work!
another weapon (technique) to the arsenal. always great vids. that wizard looks phenomenal.
Gotta say tried this technique out; it didn't turn out great but I can see a lot of potential given enough practice with my rusty hands (painted Necrons for a solid 2 months. So kind of lost touch with conventional pigment). I love this video particularly as it really presents a different yet striking way to do fabric.
Edit: Ahhh, I was making too much big dots. Now I know!
Looks amazing. I’ll definitely try that on the same mini 👏👍🏻
Awesome technique. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
Great job!
For someone who doesn't stipple that much, it looks awesome! I swear, I think you have every VMC and VGC colors, lol! 😁
Thanks for this. Nice affects
Very nice one
That cape pattern could work really well as scales for 40k Salamander cloaks and tabards.
You should try painting with makeup sponges, I've been using them to paint soft gradients on minis and it's amazing.
You know, a cape like that could be very interesting with a pearlizing powder added to the stippling and not the basecoat
That's an interesting texture there. Can I request you paint some Infinity models? Maybe some Panoceania armor model.
Interesting technique. I'm not that into textures on minis, mainly because I feel at that scale, most textures would be too small to be noticed. However, I did find one way of doing a similar thing with enamel spray paint in rattle cans (I use Montana Black, any color) after having masked off everything that is not supposed to have a texture, and then when that's dry, paint it as usual. The thicker enamel paint gives a pretty interesting texture, but it's kind of hard to dose it right so the paint doesn't flood the model, and de-masking the model can be a pain if there is paint stuck to the masks that can rip off.
so much texture... I love it. How did you do the beard?
My father has Parkinsons. He'd be great at this!
Wow!
@@gunberyl3075 he would laugh! I promise
Ya I was thinking there’s a Michael J Fox joke in there.
🤩🤩🤩👍🏻
Doc, love your work.. wanna paint my Zombicide chararters for me =)
yes some big time artes did that nuthing but little dots with some big canves in love thay are the bring s me to youe mini ok whagt fore it like that loooks great as ugel a might try and good to know and if or when you post will see em
How did you feel about using so much stippling on one model? At first I thought it would maybe look too busy but when I saw the finished piece I was pleasantly surprised at how it all came together. Do you think in the future you would do another mini mostly stippled or was this more or less a model used for showing a technique?
This was mostly practice. Likely wouldn't do this much on one miniature. It would have more punch if balanced with some standard highlights.
What was your process for basing this mini?
Best explained if you watch The Ogre Project Part 6 when it comes out.
Got so mad trying to do this I snapped a brush in half. Infuriating beyond comprehension! I don't know how to get a brush to do that.
It's pointillism.
Pointless.....
Is what your brushes end up being.
I wish I had the patience to do stuff like this but I just don't.
Didn't take any longer than layering. More likely it was a bit faster.
