I'm not who you're looking for, but I'm pretty positive they're 15's & yes, it's lowered to some degree.
Guess I'll just reply to everybody, since they don't seem to be.. :P Just looked like your basic pointed tool for me, often used to aid in releasing similar type clips. I doubt you need one though/just get a fine tipped screwdriver or something.
Okay, we saw him take the beltline out but we don't know how he took it out, what was he using that little tool to do?

I don't know what State you are in but where did you get that trim, how much was it and can it be obtained at any reasonable price? I need new ones for my 91, I'm currently sanding them down and spray painting the the top black, I saw them on ebay Miatamecca for at the lowest $90, that's insane.
I realize the video isn't real obvious, but you could try Googling the company.. or just go to mossmiata (dot) com. Hate to be the bearer of bad news though.. they still cost $80 a pop there. (pretty sure it's a straightforward dealer price, and what they're are OEM) There's nothing wrong with your idea of reconditioning the originals either though. What size wheels are those? Is it lowered?
Why would a video that Claims to be showing how this install is done would be filmed from 5' away with no visibility of any of the details of what magic was just performed....
Check rspeed(dot)net. They're the best miata parts dealer anyone I've heard of has dealt with. I've picked them up for much less($100 a pair).
