  • I got a carbon fiber violin! This is a violin by Glasser, and I'm overall really happy with the instrument!

My Glasser exactly mirrors your g string problems, and when I put a mute on the bow just slips across the g string like ice.
I have sorta reduced that problem by making the bridge foot fit very close to the violin.

The geared pegs are a huge improvement over the friction pegs

I’ve had mine over a year and it’s my favorite of my 3 violins

With the pegs, push them in like you would a regular wood peg, they have a bit of a locking problem otherwise. Had similar issues on my Glasser viola.

    Hi
I just gave a lovely acoustic Glasser carbon fibre violin to my friend last night. For some reason the violin didn't make any musical sound, there is just a scraping or scratching sound. My friend already plays a violin and understands how to tune it and how to apply rosin to the bow.
We all love the look and feel of the violin and have watched plenty of beautiful videos but are completely stumped as to what is happening.
My friend will be trying to figure it out today and as well try a different bow.
What could we possibly be doing wrong?

The only thing I could think of is something being wrong with the bridge, but I'm not sure.

Glasser built it & Geared pegs would be a huge upgrade for all Violins, Violas, & Cellos. There are 5 String Violins w/ a Low C & 5 String Violas w/ a High E (even 5 String Cellos w/ a High E) that Glaser makes in an Acoutic-Electric version w/ an Added pickup.

CodaBow Joule ought to facilitate good technique

Typically speaking these Carbon Fiber Violins would generally be louder cause Carbon Fiber is lighter weight.

I found that the carbon fiber was actually heavier compared to a wooden violin

@@AnnaElizabeth-Music It's only a bit heavier, but either way it sounds like a Violin only slightly louder.

The Glasser violins are definitely not louder than a decent wooden instrument. I bought mine for toughness, not sound. If I want a quiet practice session to avoid bothering other people in the house, I grab the Glasser (or my Yamaha YEV 104 electric violin). I understand that better carbon fiber violins like Luis & Clark or the Mezzo Forte Design are plenty loud, though.

Great video, can you please share the name/brand of this violin and where did you purchase this from. Was it Amazon?
