    Doing the dance of joy. In a previous residence, my mixer had to live in a cabinet. When I was moving it at one point, it hit the floor and bent the power lever. It still worked, but I essentially lost the two lowest speed settings. The instructions here were great. Getting the pin out/into the planetary was a challenge, but keep at it and you'll get there.

    The BEST vid on replacing this part. My mixer was flipping itself on because the speed lever would not stay in its 'Off' detent. Suspecting the raised part of the detent that is incorporated into the lever was worn out, I got all the needed replacement parts including the spring, bolt, spring washer and lever for ~ $10. And this video gave me the confidence to do it. I even made a cradle out of stiff foam and cut it to shape. Upon disassembly I discovered the speed lever bolt had come loose and thus was not pinning down the lever properly - its raised nub was just fine - thus this was the real issue as the level was not captured properly. I replaced all the parts anyway but added a dab of Loctite to the bolt. Note: pass the bolt thru the lever first before adding the Loctite to avoid getting it into the pivot area and do not put it in the threaded hole - it will drip on the armature of the motor! There are other vids out there to make sure the speed settings are correct and while it was apart, I did that too. It’s now back to just like new! Thanks KA Parts!

    What an incredible, easy to follow tutorial! Our mixer broke during this pandemic quarantine. Our repaired mixer now works perfectly, thanks to her guidance.

    This is my second Magic bullet, and I have to admit that for the price it delivers really well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCKuMxLnvr6fJd_M4SE-n7trcGj3zEUHq Considering that there are other products twice and even four times more expensive, I think that for one person this is just right. The only problem is that you have to make sure that your vegetables and ice are cut into small pieces because it won't chop and blend well. I made the mistake of putting whole baby carrots with a cup of mixed greens, and it wasn't pretty.. Also be careful not to overfill it, because it will overflow. As long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions for use, you should be happy with this purchase.

    Great video, our KA is a different model, but these instructions were absolutely foolproof. Our speed lever wasn't staying in the off position. I was lucky enough to find that the retaining screw for the speed lever was loose and a simple tightening (but not TOO tight) was all that was needed. Knowing what to expect on the dis-assembly and having all the tools at hand made a relatively complex looking repair an almost pleasant task. Our 25+ yr old machine is as good as new.

    Our host was excellent, diligent, and thorough. When you have all your requisite tools assembled, the job goes generally swiftly. Great job! Maybe I can get this part replaced successfully after watching this.

    Thank you so much for this video! Our mixer wouldn't stay in the `Off` position and I was so intimidated to take it apart that we just dealt with it my unplugging it or holding it off during baking sessions. The speed control switch arm screw was just loose!! Easy fix thanks to this video :D

    Thanks very much for the video. I replaced the lever using your excellent step-by-step tutorial. I assume that the knob on the end of the speed lever is not so robust as there are a few other videos showing how to replace that particular part. I repeat however that your video is 100% better and more detailed then the others I watched. Thanks so much !

    I fixed my lever not staying in the off position by removing it and bending it just a little to give it more tension to stay in the slots.

    Perfect! Thanks so much. One of ours didn’t need a new switch but became clear the switch retaining screw had come loose. Quite a pain to have to open all this to tighten one screw but your instructions were perfect.

    How do you check the grease levels to know if its the proper amount? Mine has a lot of grease leakage on the outter housing and will not turn on. Tho the gear shaft is not locked up and seems fine.

      Hi Jehad, KitchenAid do not provide replacement brushes for the 7 quart mixers. If they fail, KitchenAid provide a whole new motor with gearbox.

    Did KitchenAid change the design of the metal part of that lever? I did this repair Ultra Power tilthead. The lever I took out was completely flat and didn't have the bend in it like the new one.

    • @dougpickering6504

      Yes, there have been a few design changes in this area. Some early mixers had no bend and a kit became available to upgrade it - search for 4176230

    Question please: What happened at the cut around 5:45?
    I seem to be having the same problem to get the planatary back on where the hole is lower than the casing.

    • @KapartsCoUk
      @KapartsCoUk  2 роки тому

      Hi Davis, usually refitting the planetary is fairly easy. How much are the holes out by? Is it possible there is some form of obstruction? Have the teeth on the pinion gear slid between the teeth on the ring gear properly? There is often a little play (around 1 - 2 mm) which is why we usually run a small screwdriver through to help line the holes up.

    Hi! Thank you for such an instructive video, i'll definitely will be watching it when my speed level replacement part comes in. I had a quick question: I have a European model(I live in The Netherlands so I'm assuming), and what exactly did you mean when you said: open it like a book? I'm not (really) worried about taking my mixer apart, but that bit was a bit unclear to me!

    • @KapartsCoUk
      @KapartsCoUk  7 років тому

      Due to the wires connecting the top and bottom of the housing you need to open it carefully. Good luck with your repair.

    what was the issue on this mixer ?
    was the lever broken?
    im my mixer lever cannt stay at off position click at every position but off do i have to replace lever ?

    • @KapartsCoUk
      @KapartsCoUk  4 роки тому

      Hi Jason, I suspect the "off" grove has worn, the nib on the speed lever has worn or the speed lever screw is loose. gottocamp commented a few months ago about what appears to be the same issue. We'd recommend you get a new lever and carry out the procedure in the video. This should allow you to fix the issue in one go.

    • @gottocamp
      @gottocamp 4 роки тому

      Ali,It may be the electric aspect of the speed control device. Depending on the model, there are adjustments for this and/or it may simply need to have some items replaced. The lever in this vid is the mechanical portion that when in the off position opens a contract to turn off the mixer . Look for videos on Mixer Speed Governor. Good luck!

    It's a good video but in reality it takes an hour and a half to do this you have to take all this apart just to tighten the ones screw that holds the speed switch and becomes loose and make your mixer dangerous cuz it won't shut off I have a really old version of this mixer and it was a real pain to get the pin out and the strain relief was not as easy as the one in the video.

    • @KapartsCoUk
      @KapartsCoUk  2 роки тому

      Hi Chris, I am sorry to hear that your mixer was hard work. The groove pin on a well used mixer can be tough to remove. The strain relief will often become stiff and brittle with age. In this video we completely seperated the lower gear case to make it easier to work with the head. It is possible although more awkward to leave the two halves of the mixer attached and the mains lead still in place. I hope it is many more years before you need to work inside it again.

    Im stuck at 1:28. The damn pin wont budge! 😭

    • @KapartsCoUk
      @KapartsCoUk  2 роки тому

      Sometimes they can be stubborn. MAke sure you have a good punch of the right size that does not easily slip off the pin. Try hitting it form the other side. Years of use can put a lot of load on the pin and occasionally it will slightly shear. When this happens you may have no choice but to carefully drill out each side of the pin. Don't drill all the way through, just take out a 1/4 from each side - enought to remove the planetary so you can then knock out the rest. You will need a new pin. Use a centre punch to get the drill started and use a smaller drill bit first. Be careful and steady.

  • @dreamlookautodetailingauto3353

    There's no need to take the bottom base off at all...? Don't know why you did this? Rookie mistake I guess...
