    Thank you so much!!! Clear, thorough instructions are so very appreciated! It's now better than when it was purchased. It was never properly calibrated, so this fixed more than the damaged governor. If I'd have only known that "stir" actually stirs from the beginning, I'd have had a lot less powder clouds!

    After following your video I pretty pleased with the way the new Speed Governor worked, and adjustment for the speeds was right on.

    I had to replace the speed governor as it only worked at top speed. While I was taking the plate off the end of the spring got bent and then it bounced inside so I had to dismantle everything to put the spring back in place. I then reassembled everything but now I am getting no power at all. Not sure if something isn’t secured enough on the plate. I’ve tried to crimp down on the wires so they aren’t moving. Am I missing anything?

    Would it be this part needed if the machine bogs down slows/slows down when resistance is on the mixer?

    Hi, I replaced the governor but my mixer is running even in Off mode. what could be the issue? The white accelerator arm would come through above or below the two metal plates inside?
    Also, my lowest speed is way too fast even though I am using the exact same measurements of the two upper posts and tightening the two screws according to the measurements I had before.

    I have an uneven speed at speed 10 and I don’t know why. Is it speed adjustment or something else ??

    Hi,
    Thanks very much for the explanation: it’s really clear and useful. However, what if even tightening the screws to the point that the planetary starts to spin just plug in the speed is still higher than 60 rpm? What is wrong with the machine in such case?
    Thanks for the support.
    Regards.

    Hello, could you tell me if a lack of strength when mixing a dough could be the governor's fault?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  Місяць тому +1

      If it is struggling to mix the dough then it sounds like the motor or motor brushes are bad. You will need to check those items for damage. If you have more questions you can call us at 1-877-477-7278.

    Why did you change the speed governor? The old one looked fine.
    What symptom did you have?
    How does the speed control work?

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  7 років тому

      Often times with appliance parts, they can be nonfunctional even when they look okay. In this instance, you would usually replace this part because the mixer speeds have become irregular or the mixer is running louder than it should.

    I adjusted to 60 at 1 and 180 at 6. But, when it goes to speed 10, it stops. 😫 What did I do wrong?

    This video helped a lot! But now i am putting my kitchen aid back together and the spring that hold the speed board has come detached and I do not know where or how to reattach 😅😅 please send help 😂😂 the spring at 3:00 ish.

      The spring has a square hook at the rear end. This is supposed to be hooked into a small vertical slot just below the adjusting screw at the bottom of the board assembly. The other end of the spring attaches to the speed control lever, below the motor. It may be necessary to remove the upper part of the mixer in order to access this area. There are some "re-greasing" videos online that show this procedure in detail, and it's not difficult to do.

      The spring is supposed to be hooked into a small vertical slot just below the bottom adjusting screw on the board. If the spring has become retracted into the mixer head, you may be able to reach it with needle-nose pliers. Alternatively, you can try bending a short hook in the end of a stiff wire and reach that in to capture the hook on the end of the spring. A piece of wire from a coat hanger might work for that.
      If you can't see or grab the end of the spring, it may be necessary to remove the top part of the mixer head to access the spring and the speed control lever. There are some "re-greasing" videos online that illustrate how to do this partial disassembly. It's not a difficult procedure.
